Mary Haas
Mary Haas, 84, of Bismarck, formerly of Mott, died July 12, 1996, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Mott with the Rev. Dennis Schafer presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott. Rosary service will be 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mary was born March 25, 1912, in Hettinger County, to Peter and Anna (Burghart) Lehret. She grew up in Hettinger County, north of Mott, attending country school near her home. Following her schooling, she worked with her parents on the family farm. Mary was united in marriage to Carl Haas on Nov. 21, 1938, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church north of Mott. Following their marriage, they farmed in Stark County. They retired to Mott in 1968. Carl died in 1974. Mary continued to make her home in Mott until moving to the Chateau in Bismarck in 1989. In January 1996, she entered the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, where she died Friday, July 12, 1996.
Mary was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church and the Alter Society. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She was also a gardener and canned the produce from her garden. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Pete and Leona Haas of Mandan and Nick Haas of Mott; three daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Don Wanner of Mott, Anna and Pat Mosbrucker of Riverton Wyo., and Marie and Fritz Martin of Bismarck, 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Theodore Kluck
Theodore ``Ted" Kluck, 84, of Bismarck, died July 11, 1996, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Assembly of God Church, McClusky. Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.
Theodore Kluck was born Nov. 22, 1911, at McClusky, the son of Charles and Katherine (Peterson) Kluck. He grew up and attended school in McClusky. He married Ester M. Reile on Oct. 22, 1932, in McClusky. They lived in McClusky. He worked as a mechanic at Froehlich's Ford Garage in McClusky. They moved to Fargo in 1958 and he started working for Tennefos Construction as a mechanic. He retired in 1977. In 1985, they moved to Bismarck.
Ted was a member of the Eagles Aerie in Fargo, as well as a Twins fan, pool player and a handyman around the house.
He is survived by his wife Ester; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Luella of Longmont, Colo., and Gerald and Andrea of Bismarck; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and LeRoy Lee-Nunn of Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Bert of Sacramento, Calif., and Clifford of Bismarck; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hilda and Dorothy; and two brothers, Ervin and Albert.
Dorothy Riffe
JAMESTOWN -- Dorothy P. Riffe, 74, of Jamestown, died July 12, 1996, in Jamestown. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hi Acres Memorial Chapel, Jamestown. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Eddy Funeral Home. Prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Eddy Funeral Home Chapel.
She is survived by one son, Gary of Jamestown; three daughters, Lynnette Larson of Kirkland, Wash., Milicent Nelson, of Kirkland, Wash., and Yvonne Ebertz of Bismarck; three brothers, Arther McKnight, Spearfish, S.D., Royal McKnight, Onida, S.D., and Edwin McKnight of Bell Fouche, S.D.; three sisters: Gertrude Israel, Harrison, Idaho, Ione Johnston, Billings, Mont., Betty Kronholm, Mound, Minn. Glen Standing Bear
FORT YATES -- Glen E. Standing Bear, 49, Fort Yates, died July 13, 1996, in the Fort Yates hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cannon Ball School Gym, with the Rev. Casimer Poluck officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Cannon Ball, with military rites by Matthew American Horse Legion Post No. 259.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at the school, where a wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Glen was born Oct. 11, 1946, at Cannon Ball, the son of Clyde P. Standing Bear Jr. and Elsie (Two Shields) Standing Bear. He attended school in Chamberlain, S.D., and St. Joseph Indian School. He graduated from St. Joseph Indian School in 1961 and from Fort Yates High School in 1965. He attended Huskell Indian College for one year. He entered the U.S. Army March 14, 1967, and was honorably discharged on March 1, 1973. He met Joyce Brave who has been his companion for 15 years.
He is survived by Joyce; one stepdaughter, Martina Miller, Fort Yates; three stepsons, Lawrence Miller, William Miller and Steve Miller, all of Fort Yates; five sisters, Phyllis Standing Bear, Cannon Ball, Patricia Elk, Fort Yates, Rita Hunte, Cannon Ball, Bernadine Standing Bear, Fort Yates, and Gina Weinstein, Denver; two brothers, Albert Two Shield Sr., and Earl Standing Bear, both of Cannon Ball; and seven step-grandchildren, Darrell Morning, Jordan Miller, David Miller, Savoy Fog in the Morning, Alicia Miller, Kristen Miller and Steve Miller. Jacob Schlosser
Jacob J. Schlosser, 74, 102 Schlosser Ave., Mandan, died July 15, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Knights of Columbus rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a parish vigil at 7:30.
Jacob was born April 22, 1922, at Crown Butte, the son of Jacob and Julia (Paul) Schlosser. Jacob was raised and educated in the Crown Butte area. He married Catherine Zander, June 3, 1946, at St. Vincent's Church, Crown Butte. They moved to Racine, Wis., for two years, returning to Mandan in 1949. Jacob worked as an auto mechanic for Chase Chevrolet until his retirement in 1984.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine; three brothers, John, Hood River, Ore., Raymond, Mandan, and Kenneth, Woodenville, Wash.; and five sisters, Eva New, Racine, Wis., Cecelia Barth, Clementine Schmidt and Bertha Miller, all of Missoula, Mont., and Helen Barth, Mandan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ralph; and three sisters, Francis, Mary and Anna.
Leroy Wahl
ASHLEY -- Leroy Wahl, 66, McGregor, Minn., formerly of Ashley, died of cancer, July 7, 1996, at his home. Services were held July 12 in Aitkin, Minn., with burial in Minneapolis.
He is survived by his wife, Delores; one son, Warren, Minneapolis; one daughter, Shirley, Minneapolis; his sister, Lorraine Moos, Mandan; and five brothers, Allen, Bismarck, Wilbert and Eugene, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., Walter, Albany, N.Y., and Elmer, Minneapolis.

Tom Porter
A memorial service for Tom J. Porter, 47, was held July 11 at his home in Stillwater, Minn. Tom died July 8, 1996, in a St. Paul, Minn. hospital from complications caused by diabetes, which he had battled gallantly the past eight months.
Tom Porter was born March 4, 1949, in Bismarck. He went all through school in Bismarck, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1967. He attended Minot State College for a year before transferring to North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton. He graduated from NDSSS in 1971.
On July 3, 1976, Tom Porter and Sheila Bierlein were united in marriage at Glen, Minn., near Mille Lacs Lake. Their son, Tom Jr., was born Aug. 4, 1978. They loved the outdoors and spent much of their free time camping, boating, fishing and hunting.
Tom was the recipient of a number of prestigious awards from the General Motors Corporation for his performance while serving as service manager at Ned Nastrom Motors (now Don Wilhelm Motors) in Bismarck, at Routson Motors in Stillwater, Minn., and as general manager of Furlong Chevrolet in Northfield, Minn. His pleasant personality and ever-present smile made him a favorite among both family and friends.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sheila; one son, Tom Jr.; his father, Lyle Porter, Bismarck; three brothers, Dan, Dickinson, Steve, Littleton, Colo., and Jim, Cuernavaca, Mexico.; three sisters, Connie Shuman, Palos Verdes, Calif., Janet Stebbins, South Haven, Miss., and Kim Petruccelli, Highland Ranch, Colo.
Tom's mother, Phyllis, preceded him in death in September, 1993.
