Leavard Sailer
HAZEN -- Leavard H. Sailer, 71, Hazen, died Jan. 30, 1997, at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Rev. Jay Spoonheim officiating. Private burial services will be held at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Kruckenberg, Alvin Guenther, Elmer Lauf, Orville Oster, John Richter and Walter Isaak. Serving as active pallbearers will be Tom Dallman, Richard Schmidt, Scott Wolff, Jerry Wolff, Rick Erickson and Shane Wolff.
Leavard was born June 11, 1925, in Krem, a son of Gottlieb and Emma (Erbele) Sailer. He was raised in rural Hazen and graduated from Hazen High School in 1944. Lee served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Europe until his honorable discharge in 1946. On June 1, 1947, he married L. Ramona Wolff in Golden Valley. Lee farmed in the area, moving to their current farm at Lake Sakakawea near Pick City in 1960. Lee also operated Happy Acres General Excavating and the Happy Acres Trailer Courts.
Lee was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Hazen. He served his community as a board member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sakakawea Medical Center, Oliver Mercer Electric Cooperative, and local school boards. Lee greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved the outdoors. His special delight were his grandsons and his great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife, L. Ramona; one daughter, Carmel Hettich, Hazen; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Kathy, Bismarck; one brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Audrey, Hazen; three grandsons, Chad Sailer, Bismarck, Travis Sailer, stationed in the U.S. Marines in San Diego, Calif., and Russell Sailer, Bismarck; one great-grandson, Keaton, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Ardella.
Lee was loved and will be greatly missed by his family, relatives, friends and all whose lives he touched.
Ray Roemmich
STEELE -- Ray Roemmich, 66, Steele, died Jan. 31, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Steele, with the Rev. Marvin Winstryg officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Ray was born June 26, 1930, in Tappen, the son of Peter and Lydia (Albright) Roemmich. He farmed in the Steele area before entering the U.S. Army. Ray served from June 10, 1954 until May 31, 1956. He also attended North Dakota State College of Science for two years. He married Shirley Young, Sept. 7, 1957, in Valley City. Ray worked in the Bismarck area as an auto mechanic for many years. He also worked for Collin's Construction for six years before retiring in 1985. Ray and Shirley lived in New Salem before moving back to Steele in 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jeri and Dale Mardikian, Minot, Mary and David Hruby, Fairmont, and Connie and Kevin Ness, Sauk Rapids, Minn.; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael and Sylvia, Fessenden, Peter, Anaheim, Calif., and Charles, Steele; 15 grandchildren; one sister, Esther Botnon, Bismarck; one brother, Sam, Larimore; and a special friend, Tim Hankel, Anaheim.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Willie; and one sister, Violet Fischer.
Roland Maier
Roland "Rolly" Maier, 81, 404 N. Mandan St., died Jan. 30, 1997, in the Mandan nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with the Rev. A.L.C. Keller officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1326.
Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Roland was born Jan. 24, 1916, in Eureka, S.D., the son of Jacob and Katherine (Klinger) Maier. He was raised and educated in Eureka. He attended Lutheran Academy in Eureka and served in the Civilian Conservation Corp in the Black Hills. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. Rolly taught school in various county schools. He lived in Minneapolis and Aberdeen, S.D., where he owned Rolly's Drive-In and Rolly's Hobby Center. He moved to Bismarck in the late 1960s, where he owned Rolly's Parade Supply until 1992. Rolly also sold Neolife Health Products for many years.
Rolly will always be remembered for his ability to visit with his many friends and customers. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and traveling.
He is survived by a special friend of 23 years, Linda Keim, Bismarck; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sandy Pedersen, Watertown, S.D., and Debbie and Greg Berman, Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Brett and Jamie Pedersen, Watertown, and Austin Berman, Atlanta; several nieces and nephews, including Lyman Keim, Jamestown, Mary Jane Thomas, Rapid City, S.D., and Luella Graves, Kansas City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Kenneth Baudien
Kenneth E. Baudien, 66, Mandan, died Feb. 1, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Mark Phillips officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born June 24, 1930, at Mandan, the son of Mike and Elizabeth (Schoonover) Baudien. He was educated in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School in 1949. He then joined the North Dakota National Guard in 1951, and having attained the rank of Second Lieutenant, was discharged and transferred to the Army Reserve. He married Phyllis Huncovsky, Nov. 30, 1955. He worked for Q,B and R in Bismarck, and Northwestern Bell prior to his many years of employment with Montana-Dakota Utilities. He was working as an operator at the Heskett Station at the time of his retirement in 1990.
Kenny enjoyed hunting and fishing, but in his later years he thought caring for, watching and feeding the animals, his own as well as others, was more important.
He will be missed by many, including his wife, Phyllis; his mother, Elizabeth Schoonover, Mandan; two sisters, Noni Morasko, Billings, Mont., and Carole Wikman, Mesquite, Nev.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Roy and Lillian Montgomery, Laurel, Mont., and Hap Montgomery, Milton, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Jim Baudien and Berg Montgomery; and one sister, Norma Norton.

Ralph Fibiger
GLEN ULLIN -- Ralph Fibiger, 82, Glen Ullin, died Feb. 1, 1997, in Glen Ullin. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. MST Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with burial in St. Joe Cemetery, rural Glen Ullin.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the church, where a wake service will begin at 7 tonight.
Ralph was born May 13, 1914, near Glen Ullin, to Anton and Juliana (Redlar) Fibiger. He was raised and educated in the St. Joe area. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and returned to the area in 1935 and began farming. In 1937 he rejoined the CCC. He again returned to the area and met Pauline Emter. They were married Oct. 14, 1940, at St. Joe. They farmed southeast of St. Joe until 1953 when they sold out and moved into Glen Ullin. Ralph helped in the construction of the parish hall. He worked for the Curlew Elevator until 1961 and Krein Standard until 1965. He farmed for Ewald Muggli for one year and started work at the Farmers Union Oil in 1967, where he worked until retiring in 1977. He remained in Glen Ullin, and entered Marian Manor Nursing Home in February 1996, where he has resided since.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; three sisters, Emma Herz, Glen Ullin, Ann McGurren, Bismarck, and Sister Bernice Emter, Garrison; and several nieces and nephews.

HAZEN -- Leavard H. Sailer, 71, Hazen, died Jan. 30, 1997, at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. MST today at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Rev. Jay Spoonheim officiating. Private burial services will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
