JAMESTOWN -- Lyell Bergquist, 83, Jamestown, died Aug. 23, 1996, at his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown.

Trevor Odell
Trevor R. Odell, 15, Camp Crook, S.D., died Aug. 24, 1996, at Gardner Lake, S.D., due to a drowning accident. Services will be at 2 p.m. MDT Tuesday at Buffalo School Gymnasium, Buffalo, S.D.
He is survived by his parents, Gene and Carol, Camp Crook; one brother, Chancey, Brookings, S.D.; and his grandparents, Wallace and Colleen Owens, White Sulpher Springs, Mont., and Olive Odell, Camp Crook. (Krebsbach Funeral Service, Bowman)
Eddie Siegel
GOLDEN VALLEY -- Eddie L. Siegel, 72, Golden Valley, died Aug. 24, 1996, in a Mandan nursing home. Services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday, at Golgotha Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, with the Rev. Karin Derenne officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military honors provided by Herman Schmidt V.F.W. Post 7759 of Beulah.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.
Eddie was born Nov. 13, 1923, at Gas City, Ind., the son of Max and Jeannette (Jones) Siegel. They moved to Mandan when he was a young child. In 1928 the family moved to the Juzler ranch west of Golden Valley. Eddie attended school in Golden Valley and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941, where he completed his schooling. After his discharge, he stayed in California and worked as an electrician.
Eddie moved back to North Dakota in the 1970s and worked as an electrician during the construction of the plants. He retired in 1982, after an industrial accident. He continued to live in Golden Valley until August of 1990, when he became a resident of the Mandan Nursing Home.
He was a life member of the Herman Schmidt V.F.W. Post 7759 of Beulah, where he served as the commander for several years. He was also a member of Golgotha Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, the American Legion Club, Paulsbo, Wash., and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He is survived by one sister, Shirley (Gus) Ehli, Midland, Mich.; three nephews; one niece; many cousins; and special friends, Bill and Marian Brecht, Beulah.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dan and Madison.

HAZEN -- Dorothy Retterath, 87, Hazen, died Aug. 25, 1996, in the Hazen hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. MDT Wednesday, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Hazen. Further arrangements are pending with Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen.
Leo Dockter
ARENA -- Leo C. Dockter, 64, Arena, died Aug. 24, 1996, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Wing, with the Rev. Muriel Lippert Schauer officiating. Burial will be in Wing Cemetery, with military rites provided by Wing-Tuttle Color Guard and Firing Squad.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue one hour prior to services, at the church.
Leo was born Nov. 20, 1931, on a farm in Sheridan County, the son of Gottlieb and Hilda (Keller) Dockter. In 1945 he moved with his family to a farm north of Arena. He entered the U.S. Army in 1956 and served until being honorably discharged in 1958. Following his time in the service he returned to the farm in Arena. Leo married Peggie Roberts June 3, 1956, at Arena.
He was a member of the Wing Lions Club, Wing Horse Club, Francis J. Harty American Legion Post No. 65 and was past president of the Wing School Board.
He is survived by his wife, Peggie, Arena; one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Randy Haas, Fargo; one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Carmen Dockter, Horace; four grandchildren, Jessica, Evan, Courtney and Brandon; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Dick Henderson, Virginia; and his mother-in-law, Martha Roberts, Wing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Cecil Roberts, and one grandson, Andrew.
Frances Owens
Frances J. Owens, 62, Deming, N.M., formerly of McClusky, died Aug. 15, 1996. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at United Church, Philip, S.D.
She is survived by three sons, Charles Turnbull, Oak Brook, Ill., John Owens, Ogden, Utah, and William Owens, Tacoma, Wash.; two daughters, Theresa Walker, Philip, S.D., and Joan Devires, Bow, Wash.; and one brother, Henry Semler, Arlington, Wash.
Mary Starner
Mary Yvonne Starner, 92, 1001 East Ave. D, Bismarck, died Aug. 23, 1996, at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Eastgate Funeral Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Hensel Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mary was born in 1904 in Great Falls, Mont., the daughter of John and Mary Polich. She was raised and educated in Great Falls. She married Clarence Starner at Great Falls in 1920. They moved to Bismarck in 1928 and owned and operated the Star Printing Co. for many years. Clarence died in April of 1973.
She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Mennes and Marguerite Paulson, both of Bismarck; three grandchildren, Rita M. Riener Dwelly and husband, Todd, Feesburg, Ohio, Clarence Strickland, Fargo, and Leonard Mennes and wife, Donna, Cincinnati, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Katrina Castergine, Columbus, Ohio, and Robin Marsolek, Fargo; three great-great-grandchildren, Drew, Dasia and Drake Castergine, all of Columbus; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Frank Polich and Rudy and Madeline Polich, all of Great Falls, and Marion Polich, Oregon; and one sister, Annie White, Great Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and eight siblings.
Carol Holtan
Carol B. Holtan, 66, Bismarck, died Aug. 22, 1996, in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Bismarck Baptist Home Chapel, with the Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn and will continue from 9 a.m. Monday until time of services at the Baptist Home.
Carol Bernice Ferm was born Feb. 17, 1930, at Bowbells to Olger and Myrtle (Anderson) Ferm. She grew up on her parent's farm near Bowbells where she attended rural school. She attended high school in Bowbells. Carol married Milton Swenson in 1948, and they lived in Burke County until 1961 when they moved to Washburn.
In June 1968 she married Elliott Holtan in South Dakota. She lived in Washburn until she moved to Bismarck in 1984. She had been in ill health for the past 12 years and had been a resident of the Bismarck Baptist Home for the past eight years. She enjoyed hobbies of music and dancing.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Corinne and Tony Trusty, and Cindy Swenson, all of Bismarck, and Tammy and Gerald Getz, and Lisa and Donald Helbling, all of Mandan; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Harley Durward, Kenmare; one brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Myrna Ferm, Oakes; and all of her special friends at the Baptist Home, especially Beth Dekrey and Dr. Mark Erickstad.
Marie Conica
CANNON BALL -- Marie T. Conica, 62, Cannon Ball, died Aug. 22, 1996, in the Mobridge, S.D., hospital. Services will be at noon Monday, at Veteran's Memorial Building, Cannon Ball, with the Rev. Wilbur Bears Heart officiating. The lay reader will be Virginia Luger. Burial will be in UCC Cemetery, Cannon Ball.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until time of service at Veteran's Memorial Building. There will be a family prayer memorial service Sunday evening at St. James Episcopal Church in Cannon Ball.
Marie Conica was born Oct. 22, 1933, in Cannon Ball to Joseph and Dora (See Walker) Two Bear. She grew up and attended school in Cannon Ball. On May 12, 1955 she married Tidell Conica at the Congregational Church in Cannon Ball, officiated by the Rev. Frazier. She was a lifelong Cannon Ball resident.
She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Cannon Ball.
She is survived by her mother, Dora Conica, Cannon Ball; one son, Ivan Two Bear, Cannon Ball; three daughters, Regina T. Conica, Cannon Ball, Greta Deschine, Window Rock, Ariz., and Janice Conica, Mandan; two brothers, Neil Two Bear, Fort Yates, and Pat Two Bear, Wakpala, S.D.; two sisters, Monica One Horn, Cannon Ball, and Verna Ermineskin, Hobbemma, Albert, Canada; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father; one brother; and her husband.
Casketbearers will be Joe Two Bear, Kevin One Horn, Maynard Two Bear, Kenneth Two Bear, Willard Two Bear, Pat Two Bear Jr., Steve Glaser, Girard Glaser and Wade Glaser.

Opal Unruh
ZAP -- Opal Ellen Unruh, 93, Zap, died Aug. 25, 1996, in the Beulah nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beulah, with the Rev. James Reardon officiating. Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. today at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. A rosary will be said at 7 tonight at the church.
Opal was born Aug. 27, 1902, in Denver, Mo., a daughter of Samuel and Myrtle (Wyatt) Murray. In 1906, they homesteaded three miles south of Beulah. Opal, her mother and baby sister, Elwilda, arrived on an immigrant train at Glen Ullin.
Opal attended rural school and Beulah High School. In August 1920 she married Lawrence B. Williams. They lived at Bordulac and had a son, James Williams. During the 1930s and 1940s Opal managed restaurants in Beulah (The Sweet Shop), Richardton, and Bismarck (The Prince). She worked for Rausch Furniture Store in Bismarck until returning to Beulah to care for her mother, Myrtle.
On Dec. 20, 1951, she married Edward Unruh. They lived on a ranch south of Zap, forming the Unruh Cattle Co. and raising Santa Gertrudis cattle. Opal especially enjoyed riding the range, whether on horseback or with Ed in the pickup. She was an active partner in the "Diamond/Diamond" ranch and was a gracious hostess to all who visited her home. She was always known for setting a bountiful table for all her family and friends. Opal was an active member of the parish of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beulah.
She was a member of the Rural Electric Women's Association, Cowbelles (Cattlewomen), the North Dakota Stockmen's Association and the North Dakota Farm Bureau Women. She was a Mercer County 4-H leader and a member of the Medicine Butte Homemaker's Club. Opal was honored by many for her leadership and contributions to the community and state.
She is survived by her husband, Ed; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Doris Williams, Tigard, Ore., and Floyd and Sharon Unruh, Zap; one sister and brother-in-law, Elwilda and Bert Webber, Billings, Mont.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Ella Murray, Beulah, and Forrest and Lyda Murray, Columbus, Mont.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Debbie Williams, Cornelius, Ore., Shantell and Rick Jensen, Fargo, and Shawn and SheVele Unruh, Zap; six great-grandchildren, Lee and Lauren Williams, Austin and Ricki Jensen, and Denver and Shawnee Unruh; and 14 nieces and nephews to whom she was affectionately known as "Anntie Opal." Many special cousins and dear friends also survive her.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Wilfred Herman.
