She is survived by her husband, Aaron, Zeeland; one daughter, Karen Retzlaff, Aneta; three sons, Wesley, Wishek, Vernon, Zeeland, and Thomas, Jamestown; two brothers, Alvin Raile, Wishek, and Gideon Raile, Bismarck; and four sisters, Ella Eslinger and Erna Frank, both of Wishek, Edna Okerlund, Jamestown, and Linda Weisser, Roseburg, Ore. BEACH -- Lynn H. Chaska, 80, Beach, died April 11, 1997, in Dickinson. Services will be at 2 p.m. MDT Monday at Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home, Beach. Burial will be in Beach City Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; five daughters, Helen Chaska, Washington, Linda Schmidt, Flasher, Carol Greenwood, Dickinson, JoAnn Kocher, Villard, Minn., and Melanie Korczak, Bowman; five sons, Dwight, Wichita, Kan., Rodney, Baker, Mont., James, Beach, Richard, Dickinson, and Curtis, La Crosse, Wis.; and two brothers, Raymond, Beach, and Lyle, Chaska, Minn.

Othelia Ketterling
WISHEK -- Othelia Ketterling, 88, Wishek, died April 11, 1997, in the Wishek retirement home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, with burial in St. Andrews Lutheran Cemetery, both at Zeeland.

She is survived by three sons, Arndt, Gerhardt and Walter, all of Zeeland; one daughter, Sharon Bollinger, Cold Springs, Minn.; four brothers, Aaron, Isadoore, Art and Otto Meidinger, all of Zeeland; and three sisters, Adeline Ketterling and Loretta Newcomer, both of Wishek, and Meda Huepel, Eureka, S.D. Cynthia 'C.J.' Hazen
Cynthia Jordan "C.J." Hazen, 6[1/2] months old, died April 6, 1997, at the Uni-Kinderklinik, Frankfurt, Germany, due to injuries sustained at the Frankfurt Germany airport. Services will be at 11 a.m. MDT Tuesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Bowman, with the Rev. Charles Zins officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Bowman.

Survivors include her parents, Ray and Jeannie Lutz Hazen, Kaiserslautern, Germany; grandparents, Jim and LaVonne Lutz, Bowman, and Harvey Ray and Sally Hazen, Laurel, Mont.; great-grandparents, Clara Flados, Bowman, and Harvey Hazen, Warren, Mont.; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her husband, Joe A., Dickinson; three sons, Raymond, San Bernardino, Calif., Arnie, Lubbock, Texas, and Ken, Dickinson; two daughters, Jeannie Watts, Pinon Hills, Calif., and Joelyn Splichal, Dickinson; one sister, Edith Reiley, Vancouver, Wash.; and one brother, Charlie Ficek, Reno, Nev. Alice Pank
MAKOTI -- Alice Pank, 89, Makoti, died April 11, 1997, in the Parshall nursing home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hope Lutheran Church, with burial in Hope Cemetery, both at Makoti.

She is survived by two daughters, Lucile Bergeson, Makoti, and Mabel Washack, Alsip, Ill.; one son, Jessy, Makoti; one brother, John Dierkach, Killdeer; and two sisters, Katie Kaphones and Mary Volechenko, both of Dickinson. (Johnson Funeral Home, Parshall)

Lawrence Larson
NEW TOWN -- Lawrence Larson, 76, New Town, died April 11, 1997, in a Minot hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church, New Town. Burial will be in Our Redeemer's Lutheran Cemetery, near Keene.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; two sons, Ronald, Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Steve, New Town; one daughter, Maureen McGee, New Town; and two sisters, Marilyn Langland, Minot, and Dorothy Singer, Williston. (Johnson Funeral Home, New Town)

Emagene Sayler
DOUGLAS -- Emagene L. Sayler, 63, Douglas, died April 10, 1997, in a Minot hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison. Burial will be in Garrison Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Howard; two daughters, Patricia DeWitz, Minot, and Carla Rolle, Aberdeen, S.D.; one brother, Ken Beauchamp, Beulah; and two sisters, Darlene Zueger, New England, and Patricia Smith, Oklahoma. (Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison)

DICKINSON -- Matt Anheluk, 74, Dickinson, died April 12, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Arrangements are pending with Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Steve Opp
WILTON -- Steve A. Opp, 45, Wilton, died April 11, 1997, in a Rochester, Minn. hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Eric Boye officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck, with military committal services.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m.

Steve Opp was born June 10, 1951 at Harvey, the son of Arnold and Meta (Gries) Opp. He was raised and educated in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1969. After high school he entered the United States Army until 1972. After returning from the military he farmed in the Wilton area. He raised dairy cattle, beef cattle and did some small grain farming. He married Cindy Bauer, June 17, 1996 in Pierre, S.D.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy, Wilton; one daughter, Mandi, Wilton; his mother, Meta Maynard, Bismarck; one grandmother, Rosie Gries, Goodrich; three sisters, Marcia Opp and Kim Maynard, both of Bismarck, and Miriam Vizuete, Woodbury, Minn.; and two uncles and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Opp; and his stepfather, Allen Maynard.

Maggie Smith
JAMESTOWN -- Maggie M. Smith, 74, Jamestown, died April 12, 1997, in a Jamestown nursing home. Arrangements are pending with Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Kenneth Burcham
VALLEY CITY -- Kenneth Burcham, 73, Valley City, died April 13, 1997, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Valley City. Further arrangements are pending with Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.

Albert Rath
TAPPEN -- Albert H. Rath, 85, Tappen, died April 12, 1997, in a Valley City nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Tappen. Further arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Mary Haux
HARVEY -- Mary Haux, 90, Harvey, died April 13, 1997, in the Harvey nursing home. Arrangements are pending with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Doris Petsinger-Terrell
LEEDS -- Doris Petsinger-Terrell, 64, Anaheim, Calif., formerly of Leeds, died April 2, 1997, in Anaheim. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Leeds. Further arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds.

E. Forsyth Engebretson
E. Forsyth Engebretson died April 8, 1997, in the Wayzata, Minn., nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. George's Episcopal Church, Bismarck, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck.

The family requests memorials be given to St. George's Episcopal Church, Bismarck, or Gethsemane Episcopal Cathedral, Fargo.

Forsyth was born March 1, 1915, in Fargo. In 1939, he graduated from University of Minnesota Law School and married Elizabeth Pollock of Fargo. Later that year, he joined the Bismarck law firm of O'Hare, Cox and Cox, the predecessor to the present Pearce and Durick firm. Interupting his law career, Forsyth received his commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy and served as PT captain in the Philippines. He returned to the firm after the war, where he practiced law until retiring in 1971. He and Elizabeth then opened Swans of the North in Bismarck. They operated the Scandinavian Import Shop until retiring in 1976 to Bad Medicine Lake, near Park Rapids, Minn. Elizabeth died in 1984, two months after they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Forsyth married Virginia Privit at Ramona, Calif., in 1986. Following Virginia's death in 1991, he lived at Riverview Place in Fargo and Hillcrest in Wayzata, Minn.

Forsyth was active in the North Dakota Episcopal Church. He served several terms as senior warden and directed the church choir at St. George's in Bismarck. He was a member of Kiwanis, a founding member of Apple Creek Country Club and on the board of the Quain and Ramstad Medical Foundation.

Forsyth is survived by his sister, Kathryn E. Hecock, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; one son and daughter-in-law, Peder Engebretson and Linda Skrede Engebretson, Wayzata; and three grandsons, Peder Hans, Denver, Andrew and his wife, Jennifer, Plymouth, Minn., and Erik, Minneapolis.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy; and one sister, Elizabeth Miller.

Kenneth Burcham
VALLEY CITY -- Services for Kenneth Burcham, 73, Valley City, formerly of Bismarck, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Valley City, with the Revs. Charles R. Plaster and Paul Huso officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Valley City. Kenneth died April 13, 1997, in a Fargo hospital.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, and will continue at the church one hour before services.

Kenneth Robert Burcham was born June 10, 1923, in Hamberg, the son of Willard and Amelia (Gnewikow) Burcham. He graduated from Fessenden High School. Mr. Burcham married Fern Dyste, March 12, 1944, in Maddock. The couple made their first home in Maddock, where Kenneth worked as a Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance agent. They later lived in both Regent and Mott, where Kenneth worked for Standard Oil Co. as sales supervisor for southwest North Dakota. They moved to Bismarck after Kenneth accepted a job with AAA Auto Club of North Dakota, and later with the North Dakota Insurance Department. Before retiring to Valley City, Kenneth and his wife lived in Lemmon, S.D., and in Harrisonburg, Va., where they managed Super 8 Motels.

Kenneth was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Barnes County Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife, Fern; five sons and daughters-in-law, James and Lani, Yuba City, Calif., Bryan and Susan, Albany, Ga., Richard and Deborah, Las Vegas, John and Judy, LaCrosse, Wis., and Robert and Mary, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Joel Germain, Amery, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David; four brothers; and one sister.

Lloyd Faust
Lloyd Allen Faust, 79, Oregon, died March 17, 1997, at his home. Services were March 21 at Gateway Chapel of the Chimes, with the Rev. Bill Phillips officiating. Burial was in Lincoln Park Cemetery.

Lloyd was born July 1, 1917, in Paunee County, Neb., the son of Albert and Selma (Steiner) Faust. He moved with his parents to Moffit in 1918. Lloyd was raised in the Moffit area, graduating from Moffit High School in 1935. He then attended North Dakota State University in Fargo. Lloyd married Florence Wengel in 1941. They had three children. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. He was in several campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, Lloyd worked for Sears in Bismarck until moving to Oregon in 1957. He married Ina Mae Carrell in 1962. He ran his own appliance business there until his death.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Ina; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Claudia, Kirkland, Wash.; one daughter, Marilyn Greer, Jamestown; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn, Moffit; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Fern Nieland, Wapato, Wash., Doris Rash, Bismarck, Ina and Ron Oppegard, Dazey, and Alice and Gene O'Connell, Cooperstown; and one sister-in-law, Dee Werner.

Lloyd was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; one stepson; one sister; and an infant brother.

Matt Anheluk
DICKINSON -- Matt Anheluk, 74, Dickinson, died April 12, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline; four sons, Rodney, Bismarck, Roger and Robert, both of Dickinson, and Richard, Hebron; and one sister, Polly Kubisiak, Bentonville, Ark. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

Eleanor Lindemann
DICKINSON -- Eleanor Lindemann, 72, Dickinson, died April 12, 1997, in the Dickinson hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson.

She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Stimac, Eden Prairie, Minn., Donna Wahl and Sandie Kadrmas, both of Dickinson; one sister, Margaret Demore, Dickinson; and two brothers, Charles Hecker and Ernest Hecker, both of Dickinson. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)

GARRISON -- Benjamin Steinwand, 78, Garrison, died April 13, 1997, in the Garrison nursing home. Arrangements are pending at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Louis Martin
DICKINSON -- Louis W. Martin, 86, Dickinson, died April 12, 1997, in a Dickinson nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. MDT today at Krebsbach Funeral Home, Bowman, with burial in Bowman Cemetery.

He is survived by three sisters, Pearl Putney, Bowman, Adella Faust, Tacoma, Wash., and Marie Horton, Olympia, Wash.

Lauretta Rausch
BOWMAN -- Lauretta Rausch, 89, Bowman, died April 13, 1997, in the Bowman hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Bowman. Further arrangements are pending at Krebsbach Funeral Service, Bowman.

Paul Voltz
DODGE -- Paul Voltz, 67, Las Vegas, formerly of Dodge, died April 8, 1997, in a Las Vegas hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

He is survived by one son, Stewart, Missoula, Mont.; three sisters, Irene Striefel, Oregon, Theresa Lorenz, and Judy Mahin, both of Beulah; and two brothers, Leslie, Dodge, and Larry, Hazen.
