CARRINGTON, N.D. -- Warren L. Smith, 59, Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Carrington, died
Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998, in Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital.
Warren Louis Smith was born
July 23, 1939, the son of Henry and Florence (Lee) Smith, in Carrington, where he graduated from high school in 1957. He then attended college, graduating from North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, and later North Dakota State University. He married
Karen Cellmer on April 11, 1965, in Carrington. They lived in Carrington, where he worked for Klocke Construction. In 1981, they moved to Scottsdale, where he worked as a self-employed carpenter.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Stephanie Jo Smith, Scottsdale, Tiffany Lynn (Matthew) Paulson, Carrington, and Nicole (Andrew) Dodds, Tempe, Ariz.; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death
by his parents.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 7: 30 p.m. Thursday, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, in Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.
Burial: Carrington Cemetery.
Agnes M. Barnes
BEMIDJI -- Agnes M. Barnes, 91, Bemidji, died
Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Beltrami Nursing Home, Bemidji.
Agnes Marie Eastwood was born
Nov. 29, 1907, the daughter of John and Allie (Bailey) Eastwood, in Monticello, Ind. She lived with her family in Indiana and Minot before moving to Bemidji in 1917. She married
Joseph Barnes on April 23, 1946, in Bemidji. She had resided in Beltrami Nursing Home for the past year and a half.
She is survived by a son, Ray, Bemidji; a daughter, Mae O'Donnell, of Georgia; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death
by a son, Roy; two brothers; and two sisters.
Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, Beltrami Nursing Home.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji in the spring (Olson-Schwartz, Bemidji).
Albert F. Hotten
DEVILS LAKE -- Albert F. Hotten, 82, Devils Lake, formerly of Calvin, N.D., died
Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, in Edinburg (Texas) Regional Medical Center.
Albert F. Hotten was born
May 3, 1916, the daughter of Anthony and Anna (Bergman) Hotten, in Dresden, N.D. He attended school in Langdon, N.D. He worked with his father in well digging and for John Deere in Langdon. He married
Helen Davidson on Jan. 2, 1936, in Bismarck. They lived in Mandan, N.D., and Langdon. In 1942, they moved to Grey Township, Cavalier County, N.D., and farmed. Helen Hotten died
March 27, 1995. He lived in Devils Lake for the past two years.
He is survived by children, Marjorie (Gene) Sapp, London, Ark., Arlene (Delbert) Schneider, Milwaukee, Ronald (Diane) and David (Candy), both of Calvin, Mary (Melvin) Fenner, Devils Lake, and Darrell (Patsy), Fargo; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Eleanor Raffenbuel, Langdon and Luella Watz, Walla Walla, Wash.
He was preceded in death
by brothers, Alfred, Wilford and Arthur.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Wales, N.D.
Visitation: Begins 2 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon, and one hour before services in the church.

Ruth Atkinson
Ruth Atkinson, 90, Grand Forks, died
Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Nelson County Health System Care Center, McVille, N.D.
Ruth Atkinson was born
Oct. 20, 1908, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Faust) Atkinson, in Grand Forks, where she graduated from high school. She worked for the Grand Forks Police Station and in the dietary department of Valley Memorial Home for 28 years.
She was preceded in death
by two stepbrothers.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.
Visitation: One hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lena M. Goulet

Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in Riverview Nursing Home, Crookston.
Lena M. Bartlette was born
Oct. 15, 1913, the daughter of Mose and Roseanne (Bruce) Bartlette, in Walhalla. She married
Joseph A. Goulet on Nov. 7, 1931, in Walhalla. They lived in Walhalla. She worked for local farmers. Joseph Goulet died
Jan. 25, 1982. In 1983, she moved to Crookston.
She is survived by children, Mearl (Linda), Ray, N.D., Louis Goulet, Deloris (James) Chambers, Audrey (Pam), Andrey (Roxanne), Remona (Gene) Hoffman, Marlin, and Rodney, all of Crookston, Dorothy (Earl) Schill, Luverne, N.D., Earl (Paula), Fargo, Donna (Kermit) Gunsolley and Judy Filtz, both of Walhalla, Louise Foster, Tacoma, Wash., Marvin (Josie), Brooks, Minn., Lloyd, Minneapolis, and Gerald (Denise), Minnetonka, Minn.; a granddaughter, Deloris Goulet, Crookston, who she raised; 80 grandchildren; 94 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Wilbert, Livingston, Mont., and Harris, Grand Forks; and sisters, Florence Simpson, Williston, and Pearline Schroeder, Walhalla.
She was preceded in death
by an infant son and daughter; several grandchildren; brothers, Albert, Abe, Josie and Orville; and a sister, Blanche Bartlette.

Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, N.D.
Gladys Olson was born
May 24, 1913, the daughter of Morris and Molly (Skrogstad) Olson, in East Alme Township, Cavalier County, N.D. She attended school in Milton, N.D. She married
John Heuchert on April 9, 1939, in St. Thomas. They lived in St. Thomas. She worked for Grafton (N.D.) State School and as a bookkeeper for St. Thomas Oil. She retired in 1988.
She is survived by her husband, Mountain, N.D.; a son, Duane, Hazen, N.D.; a daughter, Darlene (Tim) Kuhler, Kingsville, Texas; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marlene Pearson, Madison, S.D.
She was preceded in death
by a sister, Delores.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Thomas.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today, Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, and one hour before services in the church.

Marilue Velaski
Marilue Velaski, 64, formerly of Grand Forks, died

Marilue Grassel was born
Jan. 23, 1933, the daughter of Leo and Ovidia (Johnson) Grassel, in Grand Forks. She attended school in East Grand Forks. She married
William John Velaski on June 6, 1953, in East Grand Forks. She worked for Norby's Department Store, Grand Forks and later as a seamstress for Silverman's Clothing and Straus Clothing. She retired in 1986. William Velaski died
May 14, 1995.
She is survived by a son, Steven, Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Susan (Stephen) Gravelle, Grafton, N.D., Kathy (Antonio) Samson, Las Vegas, and Kristy (Craig) Goering, Grand Forks; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; brothers, Leo (Gail) and Jim (Tina), both of Grand Forks, William, East Grand Forks, and Robert "Butch" (Ann), St. Louis; and sisters, Shirley "Shan" (Jack) O'Leary and Shirley Knoblich, both of Grand Forks.
She was preceded in death
by a son, William John; and a sister, LaVerne Foy.

Loretta J. Kilmartin was born
Jan. 29, 1926, the daughter of William and Loretta (Smith) Kilmartin, in Gilby, N.D., where she graduated from high school. She worked as a telephone operator in Gilby and on area farms. She operated the Gilby Cafe and later returned to farm work.
She is survived by brothers, William and James, both of Gilby; and sisters, Pat (Bill) Cleary, Grand Junction, Colo., and Midge (Jack) Jackson, Grand Forks.
She was preceded in death
by a brother, Duane.

Dec. 6, 1962, the daughter of Jake and Marcella (Koehmstedt) Fickert, in Langdon, where she graduated from high school in 1982. She lived in Devils Lake and most recently in Langdon.
She is survived by her parents; brothers, Roger (Rhonda), Bejou, Minn., and Jake (Jody), Williston, N.D.; and sisters, LaRaine (Thomas) Hopp, Starkweather, N.D., and Karen (Lonny) Bruebaker, Garden City, Kan.
She was preceded in death
by a brother, John.

Margaret A. Axvig
PARK RIVER, N.D. -- Margaret A. Axvig, 75, Concord, Calif., formerly of Park River, died
Jan. 5, 1999, at home.
Margaret A. Erovick was born
Jan. 24, 1923, the daughter of James and Anne (Kittelson) Erovick, in Park River. She married
Kermit Axvig on June 29, 1946, in Park River. They lived in the Park River area until moving to Fordville and later to California.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Kathleen (Albert) Tuma, Larimore, N.D.; sons, Gary (Carl), Suisun City, Calif., and John, Concord; six grandchildren; sisters, Erma Brevik, Edinburg, N.D., and Jean Mandt, Antioch, Calif.; and a brother, Art, Park River.
She was preceded in death
by a brother, Gordon.
Services: Were held in Concord.
Burial: Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Concord (Oakmont Mortuary, Lafayette, Calif.).
Gloria M. Tibbetts
BEMIDJI -- Gloria M. Tibbetts, 76, Bemidji, died

Gloria Marie Hopper was born
Jan. 15, 1922, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Moore) Hopper, in Chicago, where she graduated from high school. She married
Robert Tibbetts on May 17, 1941, in Homewood, Ill. In October 1958, they moved to Bemidji. They purchased Danielson Heating, which later became Bemidji Heating. Robert Tibbetts died
March 26, 1975. She worked at Nutrition World and more recently for Kmart.
She is survived by daughters, Bonnie (Bill) Walsh, Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Barbara (Scott) Koy, Bloomington, Minn.; sons, Robert (Kathleen), Solway, Minn., and Wm. "Bill," Bemidji; nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, St. Philip's Catholic Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, and one hour before services in the church.
