Ervin Norman Olson was born
March 7, 1941, the son of Glen and Alinda (Jablinske) Olson, in Thief River Falls, where he graduated from high school in 1959. He married
Joyce Legg on June 24, 1961. He worked construction and Charlie's Tire Service until 1965. He worked for Arctic Enterprises, in maintenance, until 1981 and resumed working for Artco in 1987. He farmed in Norden Township, Pennington County.
He is survived by his wife; children, Tron (Kelly) and Tricia (Steve) Janousek, both of Brainerd, Minn., and Brent, Thief River Falls; eight grandchildren; his mother, Thief River Falls, and a brother, Ronald (Kathy), Nisswa, Minn.
He was preceded in death
by his father.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, Our Saviour's Free Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Norden Township, Pennington County.
Ruth Solheim
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Ruth Solheim, 87, Thief River Falls, died
Nov. 5, 1998, in Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
Ruth Janet Harris was born
July 10, 1911, the daughter of Arthur and Emma (Aakre) Harris, in Oklee, Minn., where she graduated from high school. She attended Duluth (Minn.) Business College and the University of Minnesota. She married
Stanley Solheim on July 25, 1940, in Oklee. They moved to Thief River Falls. She worked as a librarian for the school and the State Employment Office.
She is survived by children, John (Ardith), Red Lake Falls, Minn., Sharon (Dean) Vatthauer, Thief River Falls, and Cheryl Cardella, Phoenix; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte (Roy) Wilcox, Red Lake Falls.
She was preceded in death
by a daughter, Mary Mittelstadt; and a son-in-law, Mike Cardella.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Abundant Life Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and one hour before services in the church.

G. Wayne Rygg
G. Wayne Rygg, 57, 1210 S. 21st St., died
Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.
Gerald Wayne Rygg was born
May 18, 1941, the son of Leonard and Myrtle (Hefta) Rygg, in Grand Forks, where he attended school. He married
Lois Huard on July 1, 1961, in Thompson, N.D. He worked for B&B Electric in Grand Forks. After receiving his Master's Electrician's License, he started Rygg Electric Inc., in 1977. He was co-owner of Diamond Lounge since 1983, and Bon Voyage Travel since 1988.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Brenda Lukkason, Barbara (Timothy) Brown, Bonnie (Mark) Haley, and Kimberly Ann, all of Grand Forks, and Wendi (David) Fagerholt, Hoople, N.D.; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle (Gilbert) Spillum, Buxton, N.D.; and brothers, Lloyd (Harriet) and Charles (LaVerne), both of Grand Forks, Lyle (Ellie), Thompson, and Dale (Ginny), Pittsburgh.
He was preceded in death
by his parents.

Hans Overby
BINFORD, N.D. -- Hans Overby, 88, Binford, died
Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, in Griggs County Hospital, Cooperstown, N.D.
Hans Overby was born
Aug. 16, 1910, the son of Andrew and Suzy (Barclay) Overby, in Binford, where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked road construction. After retiring, he worked for George Olen Jr. farming in Binford.
He is survived by brothers, Stanley (Cleo), McHenry, N.D., and John, Binford.
He was preceded in death
by a sister; and a brother.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford.
Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown; and one hour before services in the church.

Stephen Huard Sr.
THOMPSON, N.D. -- Stephen Huard Sr., 79, formerly of Thompson and Grand Forks, died
Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, in Northwood (N.D.) Deaconess Health Center.
Stephen Louis Huard was born
Dec. 3, 1918, the son of Wilfred and Virginia (Breten) Huard, in Grand Forks, where he attended school. He married
Lydia Holweger on Oct. 21, 1941, in Grand Forks. He joined the U.S. Army in June 1942 and served during World War II. He was discharged in December 1945. He returned to North Dakota. They farmed in Emerado, ND., and later in Thompson. He retired from farming in 1969. He operated the Huard Insurance Agency in Northwood. They retired and moved to Grand Forks in 1986. Lydia died
in 1990. He returned to Thompson.
He is survived by a son, Stephen Jr. (Shirley), Thompson; a daughter, Katherine (Melvin) Hettervig, Kasson, Minn.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Lawrence, Buxton, N.D., David (Irene), of California, and Paul (Joan), of Idaho.
He was preceded in death
by a great-grandson; a brother, Willard; and sisters, Muzette Laney and Sister Pauline Marie.

Howard L. Eirikson
EDINBURG, N.D. -- Howard L. Eirikson, 68, Edinburg, died
Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at home.
Howard L. Eirikson was born
March 11, 1930, the son of Eirikur and Olina (Thordarson) Eirikson, in Gardar, N.D., where he graduated from high school. He attended North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1953. He returned to Gardar and farmed until his retirement in 1996.
He is survived by a brother, Harold, Edinburg; and a sister, Iola Lawson, Fairview, Ore.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Gardar Lutheran Church.

Caroline Rude
McVILLE, N.D. -- Caroline Rude, 100, McVille, formerly of Hamar, N.D., died
Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in McVille Friendship Health Care Center, where she had lived since 1995.
Caroline Christenson was born
Aug. 20, 1898, the daughter of Julius and Maret (Thompson) Christenson, in McVille. She moved with her parents in 1907 to Hamar, where she attended school. She married
Herbert Rude in 1920 in Devils Lake. They lived and farmed in Hamar. Herbert Rude died
in 1962.
She is survived by a son, Justin (Sylvia), Tolna, N.D.; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death
by brothers, Thomas and Gust; and a sister, Hilda.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Sigdal Lutheran Church, Tolna.

Helene Stratmoen was born
June 18, 1906, the daughter of Arne and Katherine (Kokkin) Stratmoen, in Brocket, N.D. She attended school in Brocket and Crary, N.D. She attended Valley City (N.D.) Teachers College. She taught in Maza, N.D. She married
Robert Walker on March 16, 1930, in Devils Lake. They farmed in Cando. Robert Walker died
Jan. 23, 1982.
She is survived by a son, Robert, Devils Lake; a daughter, Pamela Boehnhardt, Minneapolis; and brothers, Harold, Woodbury, Minn., and Bernard, Arlington Heights, Ill.
She was preceded in death
by two sisters; and a brother.

Irwin Biel
HILLSBORO, N.D. -- Irwin Biel, 89, Hillsboro, died
Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in Hillsboro Medical Center.
Irwin Biel was born
Jan. 23, 1909, the son of Albert and Amanda (Wendorf) Biel, in Ward, S.D. He grew up in St. James, Minn. He moved with his family to Grandin, N.D. He married
Gladyce Moen on June 15, 1935, in Grandin. They farmed in Grandin. In 1952, they moved to Hillsboro and farmed. He retired in 1974 and continued to work for area farmers. Gladyce Biel died
in 1988.
He is survived by children, Sharon (Raymond) Schlichtmann, Hillsboro, Marlys (Fred) Gerds, Royal Oak, Mich., Wanda (Merlin) Leiding, Armstrong, Iowa, Terrence (Marilyn), Deerfield, Ill., and Kathlyn (Roger) Rotvold, Herman, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by three sisters; and four brothers.

Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in Golden Acres Manor, Carrington.
Florence E. Bertsch was born
Feb. 6, 1918, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Suckut) Bertsch, in Bowdon, N.D., where she attended school. She worked in Fessenden, N.D. She married
Ruben Schander on Dec. 22, 1940, in Carrington. They lived and farmed in Heaton, N.D., retiring to Carrington in 1981. Rueben Schander died
Dec. 4, 1990. She became a resident of Golden Acres Manor in July 1997.
She is survived by sons, Terry (Linda), Fargo, and Tim (Karen), Fessenden; a daughter, Dila (Gerald) Bierdeman, Fargo; seven grandchildren; a brother, Clifford (Ruth), Wilton, N.D.; and a sister, Doris (Melvin) Hoff, Bowdon.
She was preceded in death
by a brother, Ronald.
