Gudrun M. Hendrickson

NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. -- Gudrun M. Hendrickson, 95, New Rockford, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, in Carrington (N.D.) Health Center

Gudrun M. Myhre was born June 9, 1903, the daughter of Jens and Gundhild (Egge) Myhre, in New Rockford, where she graduated from high school in 1921. She attended Valley City (N.D.) State University and later taught school in Eddy County, N.D. She married Alvin Hendrickson on April 6, 1929, in New Rockford. They moved to Epping, N.D., where they farmed for a year before moving to a farm near Sheyenne, N.D. In 1964, they moved into Sheyenne. In March 1987, they moved to New Rockford. Alvin Hendrickson died Aug. 24, 1987. In June 1996, she moved to Heritage House, New Rockford.

She is survived by sons, Harold (Patsy), Devils Lake, and Don (Karen), Muncie, Ind.; daughters, Gwen (Richard) Floyd, Jamestown, N.D., and Marlys (Jerry) Fleming, Warwick, N.D.; a son-in-law, Ted Schimelfenig, Carrington; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Margit Sundberg, New Rockford; a brother, Jens (Maxine), Medford, Ore.; and a sister-in-law, Florence Myhre, Minot.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne; sisters, Agnes Nelson and two infants; and brothers, Robert, Martin, Olger and Erling.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Grandfield Lutheran Church, Sheyenne.

Visitation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with an 8 p.m. prayer service, Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Burial: Grandfield Lutheran Cemetery.

Robert G. Brown Jr.

Robert G. Brown Jr., 53, West Fargo, N.D., formerly of Grand Forks, died of Lou Gehrig's disease Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at home.

Robert Gerald Brown Jr. was born July 11, 1945, the son of Robert and Beatris (Weir) Brown, in Durham, N.C. He attended school in Grand Forks. He moved to Fargo in 1959. He married Dorothy Favorite on July 16, 1966, in Webster, S.D. He attended trade school in Bismarck and then returned to Fargo. He worked as a glazier for Fargo Glass and Paint for 26 years before retiring. He then worked for Red River Manufacturing in West Fargo.

He is survived by a son, David (Karen), Columbia, Md.; a daughter, DeeAnn Rae (Chris) Keller, Shelly, Minn.; four grandsons; his mother; a brother, Robin (Annette), Colorado Springs, Colo.; and sisters, Betty (Steve) Elias, Pine Island, Minn., Tammy (Fred) Dickenson and Linda (Kenneth) Fontaine, both of Grand Forks, and Nancy (Pat) Beggs, Garland, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Pat.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo.

Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. today, with an 8 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services in the funeral home.

Burial: Horace (N.D.) Cemetery.

Chester Ostenson

HATTON, N.D. -- Chester Ostenson, 85, Hatton, formerly of Sharon, N.D., died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, in Union Hospital, Mayville, N.D.

Chester Ostenson was born Aug. 2, 1913, the son of Iver and Gunhild (Kilen) Ostenson, in Sharon, where he attended school. He married Alyce Hedstrom on April 9, 1939, in Sharon. They farmed in the Sharon area. They owned and operated a grocery store and processing plant in Sharon. He later worked for Sharon Implement. They moved to Hatton in June.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Michael (Doreen), Billings, Mont.; a daughter, Linda (Steve) Barenthin, Eldridge, Iowa; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Arthur, West Fargo.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and and two sisters.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Sharon.

Visitation: 3: 30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Finley, N.D., and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Trinity Cemetery, Sharon.

Frances T. Larsen

ROLETTE, N.D. -- Frances T. Larsen, 101, Rolette, formerly of Egeland, N.D., died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, in Presentation Care Center, Rolette, where she had lived since 1990.

Frances Theresa Krile was born Oct. 15, 1897, the daughter of Thomas and Frances (Vavrik) Krile, in Veseleyville, N.D. She moved with her family to Pisek, N.D., where she attended school. She moved to Egeland and worked as a housekeeper for a local family. She married Victor Larsen on Nov. 5, 1917. In 1919, they moved to Egeland. Victor Larsen died July 5, 1973.

She is survived by her son, Eugene, San Diego; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph; a brother, Thomas Jr.; and sisters, Mary Beatrice, Anna, Albina and Rose.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, First Presbyterian Church, Egeland.

Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando, N.D.

Burial: Union Cemetery, Egeland, in the spring.

Jacob M. Zimmerman

CANDO, N.D. -- Jacob M. Zimmerman, 77, Cando, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Resthaven Healthcare Center, Cando, where he had lived since 1992.

Jacob Michael Zimmerman was born Aug. 21, 1921, the son of Jacob and Catherine (Fiet) Zimmerman, in Rugby, N.D. He lived in Rugby, Wolford, Orrin, Minot, and Grafton, N.D., and in Jamestown, N.D., from 1948 to 1992.

He is survived by sisters, Kathryn Hillsberry, Eugene, Ore., and Barbara Stromswold, Madison, Minn.; and a brother, Leo Sr., Portland, Ore.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Cecil and Philip.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Resthaven Healthcare Center, Cando.

Visitation: One hour before services in the center.

Burial: Little Flower Catholic Cemetery, Rugby, N.D. (Dunnigan-Dix, Cando).

Elmer Soderfelt

DRAYTON, N.D. -- Elmer Soderfelt, 79, Drayton, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, N.D.

Elmer E. Soderfelt was born July 15, 1919, the son of Charles and Hilda Soderfelt, in Pembina County, N.D. He moved with his family to the Donaldson, Minn., area, where he attended school. He married Eva Homann on Nov. 8, 1940, in Hallock, Minn. They lived in Donaldson, where he worked for area farmers. In 1948, they moved to the McGrew farm in Northcote, Minn., where they worked until 1970. He began working for Harvest States Cooperatives. He managed elevators in Donaldson, Eldred, Thief River Falls, Minn., and Pittsburg, N.D. After retirement,they moved to Bowesmont, N.D. Eva Soderfrelt died Aug. 2, 1996. He moved to Drayton.

He is survived by a son, Allen (Carol), Medicine Lake, Mont.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard; a brother, Raymond; and sisters, Helen, Mabel, Myrtle and Minnie.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Drayton United Methodist Church.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 6 p.m. prayer service, Adamson-Austin Funeral Home, Drayton.

Larry A. Fisher

Larry A. Fisher, 57, 111 Third St. N.E., East Grand Forks, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in Rapid City (S.D.) Regional Hospital.

Larry Fisher was born March 5, 1941, the son of Fred and Myrtle (Chute) Fisher, in Dayton, Maine. He grew up and attended school in Sanford, Maine. He served in the U.S. Marines at Fort Benning, Ga. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, Wash. He served in the U.S. Air Force at Grand Forks Air Force Base. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He again entered the U.S. Army, retiring in 1980. He moved to the Island of Samoa, where he operated a fishing boat company. He attended Andover Massachusetts Vocational School. He moved in 1986 to East Grand Forks, where he drove truck for Transystems, Hollands Enterprise, the East West Trucking Co. and the Lee Cole Trucking Co.

He is survived by his life partner, Melanie "Kay" Moulton, East Grand Forks; stepchildren, Rhonda (Matt) Norton, East Grand Forks, Melinda Moulton and Julie Moulton, both of Grand Forks; five grandchildren; and sisters, Ina Fisher and Audrey Roby, both of Fort Smith, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Ina Mae Fisher; and his stepmother, Margaret McDonald.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a 6: 30 p.m. prayer service, Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks.

Burial: Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, Calif.

Esther A. Larson

Esther A. Larson, 98, formerly of 1002 Cottonwood St., died Thursday, Esther A. Dahl was born Feb. 13, 1901, the daughter of William and Ellen (Wold) Dahl, in Montevideo, Minn. She grew up and attended schools in Lake Preston, S.D. and Dwight, N.D. She graduated from high school in Moorhead in 1917. She graduated from UND in 1933, and also from Teachers College in Madison, S.D. She taught schools in Walcott, Wyndmere, and Edmore, N.D., before moving to Grand Forks. She taught at Central High School for many years. She later became superintendent of Manvel (N.D.) schools. She married Kolbjorn "Kay" Larson on Aug. 3, 1924, in Dwight. He died Oct. 19, 1942.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur, Gerhard, Spener and Oliver; and sisters, Hilda, Nora and Leona.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, United Lutheran Church, Grand Forks.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.

Paul J. Plutowski

Paul J. Plutowski, 39, Denver, formerly of East Grand Forks, died Friday, Nov. 4, 1998, in Porter Hospital, Denver, of cancer.

Paul John Plutowski was born April 6, 1959, the son of Harry and Darlyne (Fortier) Plutowski, in Grand Forks. He graduated from high school in East Grand Forks in 1978. He attended Northland Community College, Thief River Falls, graduating in 1980, with a degree in Law Enforcement. He worked with his brother, Scott, as a plumbing supervisor in Denver.

He is survived by his parents, East Grand Forks; a sister, Kris Ann (Gordon) Spears, Corpus Christi, Texas; and a brother, Scott, Denver.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Greg; and grandparents, Edmund and Rullie Fortier, and Harry Sr. and Lillian Plutowski.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, East Grand Forks.

Visitation: One hour before services in the church (Gregory J. Norman, S. Washington St., Grand Forks).

Agnes Anderson

DEVILS LAKE -- Agnes Anderson, 91, Devils Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, in Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake.

Agnes Stoe was born June 6, 1907, the daughter of Anton and Anne (Berg) Stoe, in Penn, N.D., where she attended school. She attended Valley City (N.D.) State Teachers College. She taught school in DeGrout Township, Ramsey County, N.D. She married Henry Anderson on Dec. 31, 1929, in Churchs Ferry, N.D. They made their home in Starkweather, N.D. They farmed in Penn and Starkweather until moving to Webster, N.D., in 1939. Henry Anderson died June 7, 1970. She continued to live on the farm. She later resided in Odd Fellows Home and then Heartland Care Center.

She is survived by sons, Scotty (Elaine), Devils Lake, and Gary (Marie), Fort Yukon, Alaska; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph, Penn; and a sister, Gladys Berg, Devils Lake.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter; four brothers; and two sisters.

Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday, Peace Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.

Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. today, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Chain Lakes Lutheran Cemetery, Churchs Ferry.

Edwin C. Peterson

DEVILS LAKE -- Edwin C. Peterson, 89, Devils Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, in Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.

Edwin Conrad Peterson was born Sept. 24, 1909, the son of Iver and Karen (Aamodt) Peterson, in Devils Lake, where he graduated from high school. He attended Concordia College, Moorhead. He later farmed in partnership with his brothers, Fred and Anton, in Devils Lake. In 1975 he retired. He resided at Devils Lake Odd Fellows home and later at the Good Samaritan Center.

He is survived by a sister, Clara Olson, Long Beach, Calif.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Fred and Anton; and sisters, Thora Holte, Martha Peterson and Inga Pierce.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday, St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.

Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. today, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.

Burial: Devils Lake Cemetery.
