Raymond Hermann
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Raymond Hermann, 60, Thief River Falls, died
Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998, in Pembrooke Nursing Center, Philadelphia.
Raymond James Hermann was born
June 2, 1938, the son of Joseph and Gena (Brown) Hermann, in Georgetown, Minn. He graduated from high school in Thief River Falls in 1958. He married
Donna Kalinoski on June 22, 1968, in North Chicago, Ill. They lived in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Virginia Beach, Va., before returning to Thief River Falls. He entered the National Guard and then the Navy, where he served for 20 years. He retired July 7, 1980. He was a cook while in the Navy.
He is survived by a daughter, Margaret Asp, St. Hilaire, Minn.; a son, Jerome, Duluth; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his wife; and a sister, JoAnn King.
Services: Will be held in Philadelphia, with graveside services in Thief River Falls at a later date (Green, Thief River Falls).
Glenn W. Loe
WALHALLA, N.D. -- Glenn W. Loe, 78, Walhalla, formerly of Cavalier and Bisbee, N.D., died
Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, in Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla.
Glenn Wallace Loe was born
Aug. 3, 1920, the son of Oscar and Sophie (Rasmussen) Loe, in Bisbee, where he attended school. He married
Eileen Vote on June 19, 1945, in Egeland, N.D. They farmed in Bisbee. They moved to Cavalier in 1957, where he operated Glenn's Bar until December 1977, while continuing to farm in Bisbee. He retired from farming in 1990. He entered Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla on Jan. 13, 1998.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Roger (Pam), Havre, Mont.; daughters, Glenda (Darryl) Stansill, Cavalier, Rita Rae Loe, Fargo, and Tia Marie (Steven) Wieler, Cavalier; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert, Owattona, Minn.; and a sister, Yvonne Heuving, Bellevue, Wash.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando, N.D.
Burial: Union Cemetery, Egeland.
Peter W. Reimer
MEKINOCK, N.D. -- Peter W. Reimer, 69, Mekinock, died
Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at home.
Peter W. Reimer was born
June 19, 1929, the son of William and Anna (Klassen) Reimer, in Blumenfeld, Man., where he attended school. He married
Gertrude Driedger on July 15, 1951, in Blumenfeld. He worked for the University of Manitoba at Winnipeg. In 1954, he moved to Walhalla, N.D., where he farmed. He also worked for Co-op Station. In 1964, he moved to Grafton, N.D., where he owned and operated the Deep Rock and Mobil Stations. In 1967, he began working for Boeing Co. He retired in 1989. He moved to Mekinock. He worked and was part owner of R&R Contracting until 1992. He married
Ruth Salmon on July 14, 1976, in Devils Lake.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Bill (Rhonda) and Mark (Patti), both of Grand Forks, John (Carolyn), Walhalla, and Harold (Lori), Thompson, N.D.; daughters, Maggie Gadaire, Walhalla, and Eva (Jerome) Riendeau, Moorhead; a stepson, Bob (Sue) Salmon, Appleton City, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; his mother, Blumenfeld; a brother, William (Tina), Blumenfeld; and sisters, Anna Reimer, Blumenfeld, and Elizabeth (Arnie) Enns, Tina (Ben) Penner, and Mary (George) Hamm, all of Winkler, Man.
He was preceded in death
by his father; and a sister, Agathe Remple.
Services: 1: 30 p.m. Saturday, Ness Lutheran Church, Mekinock.

July 17, 1941, the daughter of Frank and Pauline (Burkhardt) Eberle, in Rugby, N.D. She graduated from high school in Fillmore, N.D. She married
Paul Neis on June 16, 1959, in Esmond, N.D. She worked for Leevers County Market, Devils Lake.
She is survived by her husband; her parents, Rugby; sons, Gary (Tammy), Mahnomen, Minn., Dean (Melea), Carrington, N.D., and Gerald (Judy), Rapid City, S.D.; daughters, Denise (Albert) Pfeiffer, New Rockford, N.D., Darlene (Brian) Bush, Beulah, N.D., and Paula (Shane) Oakland, Devils Lake; 15 grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Lucy), Yakima, Wash., and Clayton (Lori), Sandy, Ore.; and sisters, Virginia (Roger) Grigsby, Omaha, Neb., Marge (Glenn) Monson, Glasgow, Mont., Paulette Borning, Denver, Karen (Jerry) Schneider, Warroad, Minn., Sharon (Lynn) Thompson, Harvey, N.D., and Donna Hilzendager, Minot.

by her grandparents.

Gerda Smith
MADDOCK, N.D. -- Gerda Smith, 94, Maddock, formerly of Esmond, N.D., died
Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, in Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, N.D.
Gerda Smith was born
Nov. 5, 1904, the daughter of Anton and Gubjor (Swingen) Smith, in Isabel Township, Benson County, N.D., where she attended school. She married
Albin Smith on Dec. 18, 1925, in Esmond. They lived and farmed in Isabel Township. Albin Smith died
June 29, 1991. She moved into Maddock in the fall of 1991, and later to Maddock Memorial Home. In August 1997, she became a resident of Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd.
She is survived by a son, Gordon, Maddock; a daughter, Joyce (Gerald) Vallier, Oberon, N.D.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Esther Smith, New Rockford.
She was preceded in death
by a son, Glenn; a daughter-in-law, Helen Smith; sisters, Clara Moen, Gladys Olson and Gessina Ellefson; and brothers, Hartwick, Leonard and Alvin Toso.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Esmond.

Ferdinand J. 'Ferdy' Sletten
JESSIE, N.D. -- Ferdinand J. "Ferdy" Sletten, 75, Cooperstown, N.D., died
Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, in Griggs County (N.D.) Nursing Home, where he had lived since September 1996.
Ferdinand Julius Sletten was born
Jan. 18, 1923, the son of Julius and Martha (Clemens) Sletten, in Jessie, where he attended school. He worked at the elevator in Sutton, N.D., and managed the elevator in Tower City, N.D. He returned to Cooperstown, N.D., in 1980. He married
JoAnn Paddock in November 1957, in Northwood, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Mike, Earl (Colleen) and Allen (Kari); a daughter, Margie; two stepchildren, Terry Hammill and Valerie Hale; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, all of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death
by a brother.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday in Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown.
Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. today, and one hour before services in the funeral home.
Burial: Cooperstown Cemetery.
Pearl Myers
THOMPSON, N.D. -- Pearl Myers, 77, formerly of Thompson, died
of cancer on Dec. 4, 1998, in Vancouver (Wash.) Nursing Home.
She is survived by a sister, Elnora Bray, Vancouver; and sisters-in-law, Helen Myers and Agattra Myers.

Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, in Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo.
Ellen Myrtle Mattson was born
Dec. 30, 1917, the daughter of Erick and Kristina (Lindblad) Mattson, in Salol, Minn. She graduated from high school in Roseau, Minn. She graduated from Warroad (Minn.) Teachers Training. She returned to Roseau, where she taught rural public schools. She married
W. Lloyd Spray on May 25, 1940, in Warroad. They moved to Thief River Falls in 1943. From 1964 to 1986, she worked for the Thief River Falls Times newspaper. Lloyd Spray died
Dec. 23, 1978.
She is survived by daughters, Vivian (Richard) Contos, Port Isabel, Texas, and Judy (Richard) Melby, Thief River Falls; a stepdaughter, JoAnn Bullock, Cresent City, Fla.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-grandson; sisters, Lill Zimmer, Salol, and Ann Strandlund, Roseau; and a brother, Clifford, Salol.
She was preceded in death
by a grandson; brothers, Helge and Arthur, and two infant brothers; and sisters, Ida Mattson and Marie Mattson.

Edward Thompson
BACKOO, N.D. -- Edward Thompson, 49, Dickinson, formerly of Backoo, died
Dec. 10, 1998, of natural causes in Dickinson.
Edward A. Thompson was born
March 20, 1949, the son of William and Lydie (Sharer) Thompson, in Backoo. He attended school in Cavalier, N.D., and graduated from high school in Richardton, N.D., in 1967. He attended Dickinson State University. He joined the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam. He married
Jane Hueske in December 1970, in Richardton. He worked for United Parcel Service as an operations manager in Bismarck and Fargo. In 1983, they purchased a farm in Halliday, N.D., and farmed until the spring of 1997, when they moved to Dickinson. He worked for Woody's Feed and Grain of Dickinson.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Brenda, Dickinson, and Connie and Dawn, both of Bismarck; sisters, Pat (Don) DeMars, Cavalier, Margaret (Marvin) Peterson, Karlstad, Minn., Ellen (John) Bjornson, Alto, Texas, and Colleen (Clarence) Johnson, Richmond, Ky.; and brothers, John (Shirley), Briton, S.D., Tim, Gantt, Ala., and Jim (Linda), Whittesburg, Ga.
He was preceded in death
by his parents; and a brother, Bill.

Glen M. Anderson
BEMIDJI -- Glen M. Anderson, 70, Bemidji, died
Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, at home.
Glen Montgomery Anderson was born
March 1, 1928, the son of Glen and Nina (Lanphier) Anderson, in Bemidji, where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952, returning to Bemidji following his discharge. He served in the Army Reserve until final discharge in 1956. He worked as a truck driver hauling grain from the Dakota to Duluth. In the 1960s, he attended vocational-technical school in Northfield, Minn., studying small engines. Later in the 1960s, he was involved in a construction accident and was disabled. In 1978, he moved to California. He married
Armida Becerril on Sept. 26, 1986, in Los Angeles. They lived in Long Beach, Calif., until moving to Bemidji in 1993.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Kerry (Lynn), Wadena, Minn., Randy (Janie), New York Mills, Minn., Jim (Patty), Bemidji, Carlos (Denise) Cecena, Salt Lake City, and Eloy (Lisa) Cecena, Long Beach; daughters, Nina (Richard) Burnett, Cass Lake, Minn., and Cecilia (Pedro) Celis and Rebeka (Ronny) Garcia, both of Las Vegas; 25 grandchildren; a brother, Tom (Shirley), Lawndale, Calif.; and a sister, Gloria (Lee) Truman, Bemidji.
He was preceded in death
by a daughter, Cindy Moe; two grandchildren; a brother, Arthur; and sisters, Genevieve, Iva and Lovisa.

July 20, 1922, the daughter of Leo and Violet (Bouchee) Cariveau. She grew up in East Grand Forks and attended Sacred Heart School. She married
Ernest Suedel on Dec. 27, 1941, in East Grand Forks.
She is survived by sons, Ernest (Cindy), Coon Rapids, Minn., Bradley, Minneapolis, and Pat, Hopkins, Minn.; daughters, Sheila (Jack) Denny, Fridley, Minn., Pauline (Tom) Wood, Minneapolis, Lana Gaier, Rosie (Rudy) Perez and Geraldine Suedel, all of Coon Rapids, Linda (Craig) Wilson, Clearwater, Minn., Georgia Suedel, Hopkins, Dorothy Suedel, Apple Valley, Minn., and Joan (Chuck) Torgerson and Jauline (Joe) Perez, both of Grand Forks; 28 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn (W.A.) Stinar, Cecilia (Ed) Pettit and Jean (Bill) Mossir; and brothers, Michael (Patty Ann) and Clarence (Betty).

by her husband; brothers, Vincent, Bob and Roger; and sisters, Lillian and Ann.

Roderick N. Iverson
NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. -- Roderick N. Iverson, 71, New Rockford, died
Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, in Carrington (N.D.) Health Center.
Roderick N. Iverson was born
May 31, 1927, the son of Ingwold and Dolina (Campbell) Iverson, in Minneapolis. He attended schools in Outing, Minn., and Minneapolis. He worked for Boeing Air Craft, Seattle, in 1943. He moved to Wyoming and worked on ranches. From 1945 to 1947, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He returned to Wyoming and worked on ranches in the oil fields. He married
Eula McKenna on June 24, 1950, in Buffalo, Wyo. They lived in Johnson County, Wyo., Pierre, S.D., Minneapolis, Outing and Stanley, N.D. In 1958, he started working for Montana Dakota Utilities Co., Billy Creek Field near Buffalo. In 1970, he was transferred to Devils Lake and then to New Rockford in 1975. He retired from MDU in 1993.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Gary (Mary Ann), Hattisburg, Miss., daughters, Carla (Terry) Forde, Mandan, N.D., and Carol (John) McLaurin, Devils Lake; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (Cecil) Dobbin, Colorado Springs, Colo.
He was preceded in death
by an infant sister.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, United Methodist Church, New Rockford.
Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday in Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.
Burial: N.D. Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan.
