Allen Glen Becker was born
Sept. 14, 1939, the son of Stanley and Evelyn (Pike) Becker, in Grafton, N.D. He graduated from high school in Cavalier in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960. He worked for Mayo Construction and was a self-employed trucker and farmer. He married
Martha Rychlik on April 2, 1961, in Cavalier.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Dean, Kindred, N.D., and Darrel, Woodbury, Minn.; two granddaughters; a sister, Jean (Dale) Keena, Perham, Minn.; and brothers, Dale (Carol), Langdon, N.D., Lee (Connie), Drayton, N.D., and Terry (Calleen), Cavalier.
He was preceded in death
by his parents.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Cavalier Presbyterian Church, Cavalier.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today in the church.
Burial: Cavalier Cemetery

Ella Kippen
CAVALIER, N.D. -- Ella Kippen, 89, Williston, formerly of Cavalier, died
Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, in Bethel Lutheran Home, Williston.
Ella Collins was born
Nov. 17, 1908, the daughter of William and Jenny (Beaton) Collins, in Glasston, N.D. She attended rural school and graduated from high school in Cavalier. She attended Mayville (N.D.) State Teachers College and taught rural school. She married
C. Edgar Kippen on March 27, 1934, in Hamilton. They lived on the Kippen farm, Hamilton, until moving to Cavalier in 1950. C. Edgar Kippen died
Jan. 10, 1974. She made her home in Williston, with her daughter. In September 1996, she entered Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home. She was a Charter Member of the Hamilton Homemakers Club, Hamilton Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean (Gene) Lewis, Williston; a son, Charles, Cavalier; two grandsons; a brother, Herb (Thelma), Hamilton; a sister, Jessie (Harris) Lanes, Fargo; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Collins, St. Paul, and Amelia Collins, Grand Forks.
She was preceded in death
by three brothers; and two sisters.
Services: 2: 30 p.m. Saturday, Cavalier Presbyterian Church.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, N.D., and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Hamilton Cemetery.
Hazeldean McCleery
CARRINGTON, N.D. -- Hazeldean McCleery, 87, Carrington, died
Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, in Golden Acres Manor, Carrington.
Hazeldean Baston was born
Jan. 3, 1911, the daughter of John and Allie (Zinn) Baston, in Blair, Okla. She moved with her family to North Dakota. She attended school in Edmunds, N.D. She married
David McCleery on July 22, 1927, in Jamestown. They farmed in Edmunds. She worked at Jamestown Hospital and Hi Acres Manor. In 1973, they moved to Carrington. David McCleery died
April 20, 1982. She married
Raymond Klein on June 1, 1992, in Carrington. He died
March 27, 1995.
She is survived by daughters, Davidean (Don) Seibold, Carrington, and Lillian James, Pond Creek, Okla.; a son, Geary (Linda), Pingree, N.D.; a stepson, Curtiss (Twila) Klein, Carrington; a stepdaughter, Sonja (Herb) Ohlmann, Leduc Alberta, Canada; 14 grandchildren; 6 stepgrandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lillian England and Emma Lee Martin, both of Dallas.
She was preceded in death
by a sister.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Calvary Baptist Church, Carrington.
Visitation: 1 to 8 p.m. today, with an 8 p.m. prayer service, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.
Burial: Carrington Cemetery.
Audrey A. Engelhart
DEVILS LAKE -- Audrey A. Engelhart, 67, Devils Lake, died
Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, at home.
Audrey A. Kitsch was born
Jan. 23, 1931, the daughter of John and Mary (Conner) Kitsch, in Devils Lake, where she graduated from high school in 1949. She married
George Engelhart on Aug. 7, 1951, in Devils Lake. They owned and operated Engelhart Mill. She worked for Ramsey Drug as a pharmacy clerk. George Engelhart died
June 17, 1994.
She is survived by daughters, Marca (Donovan) Foughty, Lori (LeRoy) Voeller and Kristie (Scott) Gerrells, all of Devils Lake, and Kelly (Paul) Garnaas, Jamestown; sons, Gregg (Karla), Bismarck, and James (Cindy) and Brent, both of Devils Lake; 14 grandchildren; a brother, Neil Kitsch, Anaheim, Calif.; and a sister, Mary Beth Armentrout, Devils Lake.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; and brothers, Duane, Tom, and Jerome.
Services: Private family services and burial
will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
Anna 'Ann' Murray
DEVILS LAKE -- Anna "Ann" Murray, 93, Devils Lake, died
Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998, in Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Anna Mary Johnson was born
May 21, 1905, the daughter of Carl and Mathilda (Onstad) Johnson, in Yorkton, Sask. She lived with her family in Minnesota and later moved to Ramsey County, N.D. and then to Benson County, N.D. She graduated from high school in Crary, N.D. She attended Mayville (N.D.) Normal School and taught rural schools in North Dakota. She married
William "Bill" Murray on Aug. 28, 1931, in Devils Lake. They began farming in 1932. They spent winters in Devils Lake. They retired from farming in 1979, and moved into Devils Lake. William Murray died
Dec. 9, 1995. She moved to Heartland Court on Dec. 31, 1996 and then to the Good Samaritan Center on June 23, 1998.
She is survived by a daughter, Lola (Don) Patnoude, Breckenridge, Minn.; sons, Riley (Olive), Valley City, N.D., Howard, San Francisco, and Frank (Marilyn), Daleville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Denelda Parris, Anniston, Ala., and Lula Mae (Henry) Hinderscheit, Sheyenne, N.D.; and a brother-in-law, Eric Walgren, Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was preceded in death
by an infant son; brothers, Carl, William, and Miles; sisters, Myrtle, Lillian, Edna and Velma; and a daughter-in-law, Ruth.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church.

John 'Jack' Kjellberg
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- John "Jack" Kjellberg, 58, Thief River Falls, died
Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, in Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo.
John Paul Kjellberg was born
July 3, 1940, the son of Oliver and Mabel (Rice) Kjellberg, in Hallock, Minn. He moved with his family to Grygla, Minn. He attended school in Grygla and Goodridge, Minn. He moved to San Diego. He served in the U.S. Navy from Aug. 7, 1957 to June 30, 1961. He returned to Thief River Falls on July 4, 1961, and began working for Eddy's Bakery and later for Gamble Robinson Co. He married
Ardelle Oswald on Oct. 28, 1961, in Thief River Falls. They moved to Numedal Township, Pennington County, Minn., where they farmed. In 1976, they moved to Thief River Falls and purchased the Thief River Falls Livestock Auction and managed it until 1978, when he became a partner in the Winger (Minn.) Livestock Auction. In 1974, he became a hay dealer. This fall, he assisted his son at Westside Country Acres. In 1992, they moved to Norden Township.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Scott, Thief River Falls; a daughter, Stacy (Bill) Wightman, Thief River Falls; three grandchildren; sisters, Olive Ann Schroeder, Monticello, Minn., Janice (Don) Iverson, Hatton, N.D., and Patsy Kjellberg, St. Cloud; and brothers, Gerald, Gonvick, Minn., Jim (Janice), New Richmond, Wis., and Dwight, Coon Rapids, Minn.
He was preceded in death
by his parents.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Friday, Evangelical Free Church, Thief River Falls.

John Gillstrap
John Gillstrap, 46, 2212 12th Ave. N., died
Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, in Altru Hospital.
John Charles Gillstrap XVII was born
Aug. 3, 1952, in Gallup, N.M. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was currently a student at UND.

Bennie Olsen
PARK RIVER, N.D. -- Bennie Olsen, 78, Park River, died
Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, in St. Ansgar's Health Center, Park River.
Bennie Olsen was born
April 2, 1920, the son of Frank and Josie (Berg) Olsen, in Park River. He graduated from Walsh County (N.D.) Ag School. He married
Margaret Ann Collins on Oct. 23, 1945, in Park River. He worked on the farm for Alex and Duncan Meagher and the John Deere Dealership, before working for the City of Park River in maintenance. He retired in 1985.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Milton (Gloria), Racine, Wis., and Robert, Grafton, N.D.; brothers, Edwin (Alvera), Grand Forks, and Harvey (Arlene), Fargo and Mesa, Ariz.; and a sister, Frances Bell, Park River.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Federated Church, Park River.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Henriksen-Overbye Funeral Home, Park River, and one hour before services in the church.

Diana G. Riedesel
Diana G. Riedesel, Canandiagua, N.Y., formerly of East Grand Forks, died
Nov. 8, 1998, at home.
Diana Gail Vakoch was born
in East Grand Forks. She graduated from high school in Fisher, Minn., and from Moorhead State College. She received her master's degree from Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y. She taught school at Manchester-Shortsville Central School District for 29 years.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; a son, Michael; a daughter, Jennifer, both of Canandiagua; and her parents, Edward and Verona Vakoch, East Grand Forks.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Mendenhall Presbyterian Church, East Grand Forks.
Leonard Vetter
MAYVILLE, N.D. -- Leonard Vetter, 68, Mayville, formerly of Fessenden, N.D., died
Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at Merit Care, Fargo
Leonard Vetter was born
Feb. 10, 1930, the son of Hans and Magdalena Vetter, in Selz, N.D., where he attended school. He farmed with his father until 1951, when he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. In January 1953, he returned to North Dakota. He married
Beverly Prom on June 15, 1954, in Harvey, N.D. They lived in Anamoose, N.D., where he worked for Great Northern Railroad. In 1955, they moved to Wellsburg, N.D., where they farmed for 13 years. They then moved to New Rockford, N.D., where he worked for an area farmer. In 1971, they moved to Fessenden, where he worked for Fessenden Machine Co. until 1989. They moved to Warroad, Minn., where they worked at Marvin Windows Co. until retiring in 1995. They had lived in Mayville since.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Kevin (Tammy), West Fargo, and Doug (Beth), Burnsville, Minn.; daughters, Peggy (Paul) Sundquist, Northwood, N.D., and Connie (Todd) Wentz and Lisa (Doug) Best, both of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; brothers, William, Selz, Casper and Victor, both of Bismarck, Ray, Great Falls, Mont., and Joe, Minot; and sisters, Lena (Rochus) Selensky and Mary (Ed) Grossman, both of Harvey, and Barbara (Mike) Schneider, Selz.

Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, in Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
Violet Amanda Johnson was born
April 15, 1911, the daughter of Carl and Selma (Mylerberg) Johnson, in Kennedy, Minn., where he attended school. She married
Selmer Spilde on Dec. 1, 1934, in Halma, Minn. They farmed in Halma until 1966, when they moved to Thief River Falls. Selmer Spilde died
Sept. 19, 1967. She worked for Valley Home, Thief River Falls.
She is survived by a brother, Glen (Mathis), Kent, Wash., and sisters-in-law, Agnes Brevik, Karlstad, Minn., and Esther Sevre, Thief River Falls.
She was preceded in death
by brothers, Winford and Leonard; and a sister, Stella Erickson.

Katherine J. 'Kathy' Lansing
GRAFTON, N.D. -- Katherine J. "Kathy" Lansing, 42, Fargo, formerly of Grafton, died
Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Katherine Jo Lansing was born
Dec. 21, 1955, the daughter of Aldus and Ethel (Prigge) Lansing, in Drayton, N.D. She graduated from high school in Grafton in 1974. She received her B.S. degree in nursing from UND. She worked for MeritCare Hospital.
She is survived by her mother, of Grafton; a sister, Lorrie Lansing, Grand Forks; and a brother, Jason, Fargo.
She was preceded in death
by her father; and grandparents.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Grafton Lutheran Church.
