Carmen Mathilde Beiseker was born
April 12, 1916, the daughter of Arthur and Lillian May (Seewald) Beiseker, in Harvey, N.D., where she graduated from high school. She moved to Grand Forks and attended Aaker's Business College. She married
John Ruddy on July 13, 1936, in Grand Forks. They owned and operated Judy's Tavern, Grand Forks, from 1951 to 1970. John Ruddy died
Aug. 13, 1971.
She is survived by daughters, Marilyn (Dale) Burgeson, Grandview, Wash., Carmen Torgenson, Port Hueneme, Calif., Rita Kirwah and Peggy Kiel, both of Grand Forks, Susan (James) Melville, Roseville, Minn., and Jackie (Richard) Fichtner, Emerado, N.D.; a son, Thomas (Kay), Panama City Beach, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; sisters, Clara Poole, Grand Forks, and Jean Hanne, of Hawaii; and a brother, Tom (Ethel), Upland, Calif.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, The First Church of God, Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel, S. Washington St., and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Sunnywood Garden, Grand Forks.
Evelyn B. Davis

Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home.
Evelyn Bernice Anderson was born
April 20, 1914, the daughter of Carl and Rose (Chaplin) Anderson, in Verona, N.D. She graduated from high school in Lisbon, N.D., in 1929. She married
Arlo Davis on Oct. 1, 1936. They lived in several communities including Lisbon, Fargo-Moorhead, Hawley, Minn., Barnesville, Minn., and Hillsboro.
She is survived by sons, Larry (Pearl) and Neal (Patty), both of Barnesville, Merle (Carolyn), Starke, Fla., Richard (Doris), Hoover, Ala., Arlo Jr., Denver, Darryl (Linda), Detroit Lakes, Minn., Douglas (Judy), Otis Orchard, Wash., and Robert, Minneapolis; a daughter, Lela Rose Mortenson, Norman, Okla.; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sisters, LeDoris Lee, Crystal, Minn., Daisy Leist, Fargo; and a brother, Orville Anderson, Wahpeton, N.D.
She was preceded in death
by a sister, Deloris; and a son-in-law, Randal Mortenson.
Services: 9: 30 a.m. today, Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home Chapel.

Clarence R. Morkve
MADDOCK, N.D. -- Clarence R. Morkve, 82, Maddock, died
Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in Heart of America Medical Center, Rugby, N.D.
Clarence Richard Morkve was born
May 16, 1916, the son of Nels and Minnie (Rasmussen) Morkve, in Rosedale Township, Pierce County, N.D., near Silva, N.D., where he attended school. He worked several jobs. He served in the U.S. Navy from Feb. 24, 1942 to Dec. 26, 1945. He farmed in Maddock before moving to Tacoma, Wash., where he worked for Ohio-Ferro Alloys. He retired in 1975 and returned to Maddock. He married
Ruth Flaten on Dec. 31, 1959, in Devils Lake.
He is survived by sons, Noel, West Fargo, and Ronald, Maddock; a brother, Leonard, Boynton Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Olga Anderson, Tacoma.
He was preceded in death
by sisters, Amanda Sanden, Martha Kanzelman and Nora Shervold.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Zion Lutheran Brethren Church, Maddock.
Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock.

Richard 'Dick' Jacobson
GRAFTON, N.D. -- Richard "Dick" Jacobson, 61, Bismarck, formerly of Grafton, died
Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in a local hospital.
Richard Neal Jacobson was born
Nov. 20, 1937, the son of John and Byrd (Posey) Jacobson, in Glenfield, N.D., where he graduated from high school in 1957. He worked for Solar Gas. He retired from Montana-Dakota Utilities in December 1996. He married
Janet Wagner on Dec. 31, 1970. They lived in Grafton.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Randy (Jodi), Brian (Nicole) and Brad; his grandchildren; mother; and sisters, Hope, Polly, Jean and Dee.
He was preceded in death
by a son, Charles; his father; and a brother, Clayton.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck.

Gerald Lee Devlaeminck was born
June 2, 1941, the son of John and Garnette (Irwin) Devlaeminck, in Grafton, N.D. He attended school in Drayton. He married
Sheila Miller on Sept. 5, 1964, in Grand Forks. He worked in retail sales in North Dakota and in Mesa.
He is survived by a son, Brian (Casey), Mesa; a daughter, Deena (Don) Sorenson, Gilbert, Ariz.; three granddaughters; his mother, Grand Forks; and sisters, JoAnn Connell, Grand Forks, and Linda Miller, Houston.
He was preceded in death
by his father.

Helen O. Kraft

Helen Olivia Wallen was born
Sept. 23, 1915, the daughter of Oscar and Ida (Talmage) Wallen, in Russell, Minn. She attended school in Reeves and Boyceville, Wis. She married
Charles Kraft on June 30, 1934, in Minneapolis. They lived in Minneapolis, where she worked as an Elizabeth Arden sales representative for Donaldson's Department Store. She retired in 1982. They moved to Laporte in 1981. Charles Kraft died
Nov. 8, 1982.
She is survived by a son, Charles, Laporte; a daughter, Barbara (Richard) Auld, Sioux Falls, S.D.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, LuVerne Akin, San Leandro, Calif.
She was preceded in death
by a sister, Evelyn.

Laurene Flohaug

Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, in Nelson County Health Systems, McVille.
Laurene Meyer was born
March 31, 1926, the daughter of Robert and Clara (Abendoth) Meyer, in Highland, Ill. She grew up and attended school in Pocahontas, Ill. She married
Clarence Flohaug on Oct. 25, 1944, in Grantfork, Ill. The moved to Aneta, N.D., where they lived and farmed until 1972, when they moved to McVille.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Larry (Norma), Panama, Dale (Gail), Aneta, and Roy (Laura), New Brighton, Minn.; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and sisters, Bernice Willeford, Greenville, Ill., and Delores (Murl) Iberg, Pocahontas.
She was preceded in death
by brothers, Richard and Roland; and a sister, Fern.

Clara E. Soper
DEVILS LAKE -- Clara E. Soper, 73, Devils Lake, died
Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, in Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, where she had lived since October 1998.
Clara Tweeten was born
Aug. 23, 1925, the daughter of Daniel and Maren (Jensen) Tweeten, in Devils Lake. She attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. She married
Vernell Soper on May 21, 1947, in Devils Lake. She worked as a secretary for the John Deere dealership in Devils Lake and as an assistant secretary for the Devils Lake Chamber of Commerce. She worked for the State Employment Office and Western Insurance Co., both of Devils Lake. She retired in 1986.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Sanford (Diane), Grand Forks, Keith (Jody), Drummond, Okla., and Kent (Bobbie), Yukon, Okla.; six grandchildren; and sisters, Ines (Robert) Caton, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Dorothy (Raoul) Sparks, Fargo, and Etheyl (Howard) Nielson, Twin Falls, Idaho.
She was preceded in death
by six brothers and a sister.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.

Theodora "Ted" Anderson
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Theodora "Ted" Anderson, 92, Thief River Falls, died
Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, in Northwest Medical Center, Convalescent Nursing Care Unit, Thief River Falls, where she had lived since Nov. 6, 1993.
Theodora Loyland was born
Sept. 26, 1906, the daughter of Tollef and Tina (Overmoen) Loyland, in Silverton Township, Pennington County, Minn. She attended school in Erie, Minn., and Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. She worked as a cook and housekeeper in Minot. In 1936, she moved with her sisters to Chicago. She moved to Seattle in 1943 and worked in the shipyards. She returned to Goodridge and raised turkeys. She married
Jesse Anderson on Feb. 2, 1947. They managed the River Valley Co-op Store until 1947. They moved to Erie and bought the Erie Store.
She is survived by sisters, Lillian Banner, Morton Grove, Iowa, Clara (Olaf) Stolaas, Oklee, Minn., and Amber Walker, Hibbing, Minn.; stepsons, Lowell (Joan) Anderson, Eden Prairie, Minn., and Dean (Joyce) Anderson, Gilbert, Minn.; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death
by brothers, Olaf and Alvin; and a sister, Gladys Clark.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Ekelund Lutheran Church, Goodridge.

John Rombs
DEVILS LAKE -- John Rombs, 84, Devils Lake, died
Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, in Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake, where he had lived since June 1987.
John Rombs was born
April 3, 1914, the son of Joseph and Angelica (Frank) Rombs, in Rugby, N.D. In 1926, they moved to Devils Lake, where he attended school. He farmed until 1980, when he retired and moved to Devils Lake.
He is survived by sisters, Emma Laturnus, Fargo, and Mary Volk, Rocklin, Calif.; and a brother-in-law, Paul Leiphon, Devils Lake.
He was preceded in death
by a sister, Lena Leiphon; and brothers, Anton and George.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Joseph's Parish Center Chapel, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, and 8: 30 to 9: 30 a.m. Thursday, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake.

Barbara Frye
ORRIN, N.D. -- Barbara Frye, 81, Harvey, N.D., formerly of Orrin, died
Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, in St. Aloisius Medical Center, Harvey.
Barbara Hager was born
Aug. 8, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Rosena (Blyle) Hager, in Orrin, where she attended school. She worked on the family farm. She married
Jacob William Frye on Feb. 27, 1943, in Fessenden, N.D. They lived and farmed in Orrin. They moved to Harvey in 1956.
She is survived by her husband; sons, George and William, both of Mandan, Wendelin, Selz, N.D., and Eugene, Harvey; a daughter, Caroline Conner, Moorhead; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Pete, Anaconda, Mont.; and a sister, Helen Kroll, Lodi, Calif.
She was preceded in death
by three brothers and two sisters.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey.
