LANGDON, N.D. -- Robert Magyar, 25, Langdon, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, in Langdon.
Robert Ernest Magyar was born June 3, 1973, the son of Bill and Valerie (Schrader) Magyar, in Langdon, where he graduated from school in 1991. He served in the U.S. Military from 1991 to 1994. He was attending North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, studying computer science.
He is survived by his children, Taylor and Savanah Magyar, Gibson, N.C.; his parents; a sister, Stephanne (David) Ouse, Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Mike, of Louisiana, and Tony and Jeff, both of Elkhart, Ind.; and grandparents, Elsie Schrader and Fay Magyar, Elkhart.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, United Methodist Church, Langdon.
Visitation: Begins 4 p.m. today, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Zion Cemetery, Langdon.
George F. Peterson
COOPERSTOWN, N.D. -- George F. Peterson, 70, Cooperstown, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, in Griggs County Hospital, Cooperstown.
George F. Peterson was born May 10, 1928, the son of George and Mary (Fiebiger) Peterson, in Cooperstown, where he attended school. He farmed in Cooperstown until 1989, when he moved into Cooperstown. He worked for Griggs County as a sprayer and for area farmers.
He is survived by a sister, Marie (Erling) Skaufel, Cooperstown.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, St. George Catholic Church, Cooperstown.
Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. today, Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. George Cemetery.
Davis Gustafson
ANETA, N.D. -- Davis Gustafson, 19, Aneta, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Davis Gustafson was born Feb. 5, 1979, in Northwood, N.D., the son of Loren and Sarah Gustafson, and biological mother, Beth Hillesland. He grew up in Aneta and graduated from Dakota Prairie High School in 1997. He worked for Concrete Inc., Grand Forks.
He is survived by his father, Loren (Sarah), Aneta; a half-sister, Nicole Gustafson, Aneta; half-brothers, Zachary, Christopher and Joshua Madren, Greenfield, Ind.; grandparents, Henry and Adeline Gustafson, Aneta, Mary Hillesland, Northwood, Allen and Evelyn Hillesland, Ellendale, N.D., and Mickel and Mary Lou Aamold, Mayville, N.D.; and great-grandparents, Hazel Meyers, Cooperstown, N.D., Ruth Tastad, Mayville, N.D., and Alice Sandeen, Northwood.

Beatrice E. Soman
GILBY, N.D. -- Beatrice E. Soman, 64, St. Paul, formerly of Gilby, died Nov. 29, 1998.
Beatrice E. Bjerklie was born Dec. 11, 1933, the daughter of Hilmar and Emma Bjerklie.
She is survived by a daughter, Denise (John) Erickson, Woodbury, Minn., Teresa (Ben) Gipson, Rockford, Ill., and Lizabeth (Corey) Pearl, Maplewood, Minn.; two grandchildren; sisters, Jean Coverston, Lac Du Flambeau, Wis., Donna Arneberg, Mekinock, N.D., and Audrey Draeger, Richardson, Texas; and brothers, Robert, Crossville, Tenn., and Mervin, St. Charles, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents; brothers, Leonard and Donald; and a sister, Margaret.
Services: Were held in St. Paul.
Burial: Fort Snelling National Cemetery (Wulff-Godbout, St. Paul).
Florence E. Johnson
Florence E. Johnson, 83, Grand Forks, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, in Altru Hospital.
Florence E. Bolstad was born Jan. 11, 1915, the daughter of Norval and Tilda (Hoye) Bolstad, in Sullivan Township, Polk County, Minn. She graduated from high school in East Grand Forks. She married Clarence Johnson on June 20, 1935, in Sullivan Township. They lived and farmed in Sullivan Township. She worked for Griffith's Department Store, Grand Forks.
She is survived by a daughter, LoAnn (Richard) Stallmo, East Grand Forks; a son, Myron (Dana), East Grand Forks; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Bernice Valgren, Lompoc, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sons, Mylo and Miles; a brother, Joe; and a sister, Alice.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, East Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks.
Burial: North Bethany Cemetery, East Grand Forks.
Olina Amb
PORTLAND, N.D. -- Olina Amb, 98, Fargo, formerly of Portland, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, in Bethany Homes of Fargo.
Olina Hovet was born April 1, 1900, the daughter of Ole and Anna (Jormeland) Hovet, in Reynolds, N.D., where she attended school. She lived at home and helped raise her siblings. She married Joseph Amb on Jan. 14, 1933, in Buxton, N.D. They farmed in Portland. They retired in 1971 and moved into Portland. Joseph Amb died in January 1980. She moved to Bethany Homes in January 1985.
She is survived by daughters, Alice (Melvin) Zahnow, Moorhead, and Irene (David) Hoff, Crookston; a daughter-in-law, Carole Amb, Portland; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Carl; brothers, Thor, Alfred, Palmer, Selmer, Milfred and Edwin; and sisters, Ingeborg, Bertha and Adelaide.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Bruflat Lutheran Church, Portland.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, N.D., and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Bruflat Cemetery.
Minnie Vavrosky
PARK RIVER, N.D. -- Minnie Vavrosky, 94, Park River, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at St. Ansgar's Health Center, Park River, where she had lived since November.
Minnie Nymon was born Oct. 8, 1904, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Herda) Nymon, in Lawton, N.D., where she attended school. She attended business school in Winnipeg, where she worked at Eaton's and the Hudson Bay Co. She later worked in Omaha and St. Paul. She married Tim Vavrosky on Oct. 7, 1930, in Grafton, N.D. They lived in Pisek, N.D., and then moved to Park River. Tim Vavrosky died Sept. 27, 1979. In 1990, she moved to Edmore (N.D.) Rest Home.
She is survived by sons, Timothy Jr. (Gerry), Fargo, and Ronald (Marjorie), Park River; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary; and brothers, Frank and an infant.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Park River.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery (Henriksen-Overbye, Park River).
Raymond 'Ray' Wichern
BEMIDJI -- Raymond "Ray" Wichern, 74, Bemidji, formerly of Grand Forks, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, in Beltrami Nursing Home, Bemidji.
Raymond Russell Wichern was born Oct. 4, 1924, the son of Fred and Lucie (Allrich) Wichern, in Norman County, Minn. He married Shirley Harding on July 2, 1949, in Cavalier, N.D. He worked as a farm laborer from 1949 to 1950. He moved to Ogema, Minn., and worked as a logger. He moved to Twin Valley, Minn., where he worked as a trucker. He lived in Mahnomen, Fosston and Lengby, Minn., before moving to Grand Forks, where he worked in the potato warehouse until retiring in 1990. After the flood in Grand Forks he lived in nursing homes in Fosston and Bemidji.
He is survived by daughters, Doreen (Norman) Sorenson and Darlene (Rick) Miller, both of Minneapolis, Donna Klema, Grand Forks, Denise Pilcher, Omaha, Neb., and Delilah (Robert) Morris, Shevlin, Minn.; a son, Lyle, Minneapolis; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence (Helen) and Bert (Victoria), both of Waubun, Minn.; and sisters, Elnora Bellard, White Earth, Minn., and Elaine Reller, Detroit Lakes, Minn.
He was preceded in death by two stepmothers; a daughter, Delores; a son, Darrel; a sister, Mina; and a brother, Earl.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji.

Burial: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Strawberry Lake Mennonite Cemetery, Becker County, Minn.
Alice Blomquist
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Alice Blomquist, 85, Thief River Falls, formerly of Lake Bronson, Minn., died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
Alice Louise Johnson was born July 22, 1913, the daughter of Louis and Kari (Nelson) Johnson, in Kittson County, Minn., where she attended school. She married Melvin Blomquist on June 24, 1941. They farmed east of Lake Bronson. She moved to Thief River Falls in 1989. Melvin Blomquist died July 16, 1995.
She is survived by a brother, Arthur (Dorothy), Lake Bronson.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Tilda Lind, Gina Bengtson and Nellie Nelson; and brothers, Clarence, Hjalmer and Oscar.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Community Covenant Church, Lake Bronson.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Lake Bronson (Hughes, Hallock, Minn.).
Eddie Moilanen
LAKOTA, N.D. -- Eddie Moilanen, 91, Lakota, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, in Edgewood Vista Nursing Home, East Grand Forks.
Eddie Moilanen was born April 4, 1907, the son of Lars and Elsie (Pehkonen) Moilanen, in Brocket, N.D., where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked in the Brocket and Lakota area. He spent time in Poplar, Mont. He lived in Lakota before entering Edgewood Vista Nursing Home.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Julia, Jenny, Ruth, Helen and Etta; and brothers, Melvin, Hjalmer, John, Robert, Eino and William.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aaker Funeral Chapel, Lakota.
Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. today, and one hour before services in the chapel.
Burial: Lakota Cemetery.
Otto R. Mielke
MAYVILLE, N.D. -- Otto R. Mielke, 84, Mayville, formerly of Galesburg, N.D., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, in Luther Memorial home, Mayville.
Otto R. Mielke was born March 15, 1914, the son of Rudolph and Amalia (Braun) Mielke, in Vergas, Minn. He married Olga Sonnenberg on Oct. 5, 1940, in Grand Forks. They lived in Galesburg, where he worked for Standard Oil as a bulk dealer, retiring in 1974.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Gene, Minneapolis; daughters, Linda (Larry) Martin, Galesburg, Susan Galante, Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Janet (Robert) Randall, Wahpeton, N.D.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Sonnenberg, Vergas; and a brother, Emil (Ann) Mielke, New York Mills, Minn.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry and Edward.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, Elm River Lutheran Church, Galesburg.
