Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Genevieve Lefaivre was born
March 25, 1932, the daughter of Clifford and Lena (Dondoneau) Lefaivre, in Crookston, where she attended school. She married
William Goosen on Feb. 6, 1951, in Crookston. They lived in Euclid. William Goosen died
in March 1968.
She is survived by sons, Bill (Diane), Thomas, both of Grand Forks, Tim and Neil, both of Crookston; a daughter, Shirley (Duane) Woinarowicz, Fertile, Minn.; two grandchildren; sisters, Margaret (Leo) Clement, Yakima, Wash., Delores (Harley) Dloughy, Osseo, Wis., and Gloria Biever, Grand Forks; and a brother, David, of Germany.
She was preceded in death
by a grandson and a sister, Medeline.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sacred Heart Chapel at Mount St. Benedict, Crookston.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, Crookston, and one hour before services in the mount.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Crookston.
Bernice Kindle
FINLEY, N.D. -- Bernice Kindle, 84, Fargo, formerly of Finley, died
Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Bernice Nelson was born
Aug. 25, 1914, the daughter of Steven and Clara (Olson) Nelson, in Sharon, N.D. She graduated from high school in Cooperstown, N.D., in 1932. She attended Mayville (N.D.) State Teachers College, where she received her teaching degree. She later attended the University of Minnesota and the University of Washington. She taught in Arvilla, N.D., Doty and Seattle, Wash., Bismarck and Fargo. She married
Larry Kindle on Jan. 4, 1943, in Los Angeles. In 1961, she became director of women's activities for the North Dakota Farm Bureau. In 1963, she founded the North Dakota Farm Bureau Citizenship Seminar which meets in Bismarck annually. In 1984, they retired and moved to her family farm in Finley. Larry Kindle died
July 14, 1991. In 1992, she moved to Fargo.
She is survived by sons, the Rev. Steven (Diane), Stockton, Calif., and Greg (Michelle), Scandia, Minn.; a foster daughter, Margaret (Dennis) O'Brien, Cedar, Minn., seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Hofva Lutheran Church, Finley.
Visitation: 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, and one hour before services in the church.

Dorothy R. Westdyke
ADRIAN, Mich. -- Dorothy R. Westdyke, 91, Adrian, died
Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at Grand Court.
Dorothy R. Burgess was born
April 9, 1907, the daughter of Richard and Maude (Wotring) Burgess, in Adrian. She married
John Westdyke in 1952. He preceded her in death. She attended UND, where she received a bachelor's degree. She taught as an art teacher in Fraser, Mich., and 24 years in Tecumseh, Mich. She retired in 1972.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Prouty, Rockport, Texas; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Schnell, Grand Forks.
Services: 1 p.m. today, First Presbyterian Church, Adrian.
Burial: Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, 156 E. Maumee St., Adrian (Braun Everiss Wagley, Adrian).
Elmer R. Ophaug
McVILLE, N.D. -- Elmer R. Ophaug, 88, McVille, died
Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998, at Nelson County Community Hospital.
Elmer R. Ophaug was born
Oct. 26, 1910, the son of Erick and Marit (Laugeness) Ophaug, in Kloten, N.D. He attended McVille High School and Hansen Auto School, Fargo. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married
Gunhild Skjolden on April 26, 1941, in Kloten. They lived and farmed near Kloten. In 1970, they retired and moved into McVille. Gunhild Ophaug died
July 2, 1996. He moved to the Friendship Healthcare Center, McVille, in November 1997.
He is survived by sons, Warren, McVille, and Ron (Cindy), Minto, N.D.; five grandchildren; and sisters, Cecil (James) Loe, McVille, and Ruth Torson, Tumwater, Wash.
He was preceded in death
by sisters, Mabel, Thelma and Cora; and brothers, Oswald, Rudy, Merle and Leonard.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Kloten.
Visitation: 4 to 7: 30 p.m. today, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille, and one hour before services in the church.

Ida Delorme
BELCOURT, N.D. -- Ida Delorme, 91, Belcourt, died
Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Belcourt.
Ida Rose Delorme was born
July 8, 1907, the daughter of Marie (Ketchum) and Patrice DeCoteau, in Belcourt. She grew up and attended school in the Turtle Mountain area. She married
Peter Delorme on July 19, 1926, in Belcourt. They lived on a farm in Belcourt. They also lived in Minot. In 1969, they returned to the Turtle Mountain area. Peter Delorme died
Dec. 15, 1994.
She is survived by daughters, Genevieve Short Brant, Grand Forks, Marion Houle, Belcourt, Theresa Mabin, Bismarck, and Evangeline Braun, Minot; sons, Peter, Peoria, Ill., Eugene, Minot, and Cyprian, Stillwater, Minn.; 30 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Adeline Morin, Belcourt.
She was preceded in death
by a daughter; and a brother.
Services: 10 a.m. today, St. Anns Catholic Church, Belcourt.

Raymond S. Bren
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Raymond S. Bren, 83, Thief River Falls, died
Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at Northwest Medical Center, Convalescent Nursing Care Unit, Thief River Falls.
Raymond Stanley Bren was born
Jan. 5, 1915, the son of John and Olga (Oseth) Bren, in Bigwoods Township, Marshall County, Minn. He attended school in the Oslo-Alvarado, Minn., schools. He served his country during World War II from November 1940 to September 1945. He married
Clarice Olson on March 18, 1945, in St. Louis Park, Minn. They lived in Warren, Minn., from September 1945 to April 1947, when they moved to Thief River Falls. He worked for the Red Owl Store and Montgomery Ward. In 1953, he joined the Thief River Falls Police Force and worked there until 1973. He retired as deputy chief. He was then supervisor of the Greenwood Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Carol (Bart) Dunn, Pequot Lakes, Minn., and Mary (Dennis) Johnson, Oswego, Ill; sons, James and Donald, both of Iola, Wis., and Joel, Thief River Falls; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris (Terry) Airhart, Driftwood, Texas.
He was preceded in death
by his stepfather, Carl Foss; two grandchildren; a sister, Harriet Goplin; and brothers, Robert Bren and Gene Foss.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls.

Carl J. Sundet
MADDOCK, N.D. -- Carl J. Sundet, 88, Maddock, died
Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at St. Aloisius Medical Center, Harvey, N.D.
Carl Johan Sundet was born
Aug. 15, 1910, the son of Albert and Cecilia (Bergsgaard) Sundet, in North Viking Township, Benson County. He attended Benson County Agricultural and Training School, Maddock. He married
Sylvia Nyland-Lysne on April 20, 1935, in Maddock. He worked 7 years for Benson County Road Department during the 1930s. They started farming in 1939, on the G.O. Haugen farm, North Viking Township, eventually purchasing it and farming there for 59 years.
He is survived by his wife; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Connie Nestegard, Minot; and brothers, William, Lakeview, Ore., and Lloyd, Leavenworth, Kan.
He was preceded in death
by a stepson, Robert Lysne; brothers, Alvin, Oscar, Edwin and Clarence; and sisters, Inga Hovland and Anna Christenson.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Viking Lutheran Church, Maddock.
Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. today, with an 8 p.m. prayer service, Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock, and one hour before services in the church.

Dorothy W. Kempner
BEMIDJI -- Dorothy W. Kempner, 86, Bemidji, died
Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
Dorothy Wilhelmina Lang was born
Jan. 12, 1912, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Arendal) Lang, in Esher, England, where she attended school. She managed a theatre in London. She married
Earl Kempner in 1937, in London. While living in England, they were host family for foreign exchange students from Minnesota. In 1949, they moved to St. Paul. In 1951, she started working for Dayton's as the women's coat and suit buyer. In 1958, they moved to Florida. She worked at Burdine's, Miami. Stanley Kempner died
in 1973. In September 1998, she moved to Bemidji, to live with her son, Peter.
She is survived by sons, Peter (Catherine), Bemidji, and Brian (Diane), San Diego; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death
by a son, Geoffrey; and brothers, Montehue and Charles.
Services: 1 p.m. today, First Assembly of God Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: One hour before services in the church.
Burial: Pine Ridge Cemetery, Turtle River, Minn. (Olson-Schwartz, Bemidji).
Lambert R. Pribula
DRAYTON, N.D. -- Lambert R. Pribula, 72, Drayton, died
Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, in Drayton.
Lambert Raymond Pribula was born
Sept. 11, 1926, the son of John and Albina (Huderle) Pribula, in Esther Township, Polk County, Minn., where he attended school. He worked with his father drilling wells and also worked on farms in the Oslo, Minn., area. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946. He married
Ruth Elden on June 30, 1955, in East Grand Forks. They lived in Oslo, where he was foreman for Oslo Potato Packers. In 1971, they moved to Drayton, where he was manager of Associated Potato Packers. He retired in 1992. He continued to work at Associated Potato Packers and also bingo for Drayton Curling Club Gaming.
He is survived by sons, Raymond, in Oregon, and Ronald, Badger, Minn.; a daughter, Marie, Drayton; four grandchildren; brothers, Leslie (Tina), Hamilton, Mont., and Clarence, East Grand Forks; and sisters, Delia (Robert) Love, Euclid, Minn., Valaria Dudinski, Kent, Ohio, and Lillian (Dale) Case, Milnor, N.D.
He was preceded in death
by a sister, Alice.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, St. Edward's Catholic Church, Drayton.

Sidney A. 'Sid' Nord
DEVILS LAKE -- Sidney A. "Sid" Nord, 67, Devils Lake, died
Wednesday, Nov. 11, 1998, at home following a six-month battle against leukemia.
Sidney A. Nord was born
Sept. 8, 1931, the son of John and Irene (Dingman) Nord, in Churchs Ferry, N.D., where he graduated from high school in 1949. He married
Joyce Huffman on Jan. 18, 1953, in Minnewaukan, N.D. They farmed until moving to Binford, N.D., in 1956 to manage Binford Farmers Elevator. In 1966, they moved to Gilby, N.D., where he was manager of Peavey Elevator later Gilby Grain Co. In 1979, they moved to Devils Lake, where he was manager of Lake Region Grain Inc., Keith, N.D., and Devils Lake. In 1984, he became an insurance agent for Nodak Mutual Insurance Co., Devils Lake. He was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Larry (Kay), Forest River, N.D.; daughters, Pam (Bob) Oppegard, Kathy (Brian) Eastman and Judy (Andrew) Cronquist, all of Gilby; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Marvin (Inger), Churchs Ferry, Vic (Doreen), Red Lake Falls, Minn., and Lyder (Gloria), Minot; and sisters, Alice (Harfred) Johanson, Devils Lake, and Lois (Don), Minot.
He was preceded in death
by his parents.

James Baldock
HATTON, N.D. -- James Baldock, 88, Hatton, died
Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, in Union Hospital, Mayville, N.D.
James Baldock was born
Jan. 29, 1910, the son of William and Elizabeth (Smith) Baldock, in Galesburg, N.D., where he attended school. He married
Esther Sayler on Sept. 23, 1942, in Hillsboro, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He farmed in the Luverne, N.D., area. In 1952, they moved to the Langdon and Osnabrock, N.D., area. They moved in 1958 to the Hatton area, where he worked for area farmers until his retirement in 1972. In 1996, they moved into Hatton.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Wesley (Kathy), Piedmont, S.D., Leroy (Donna), Grand Forks, and Gene (Iona), Aurora, Colo.; daughters, Verna Streit, Sabetha, Kan., Deloris Baldock, Orlando, Fla., Marylin (Karl) Bockert, Hot Springs, S.D., and Karen Major, Alamosa, Colo.; six grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by a son, Stanley; a grandson; brothers, Herbert, George, Frank and Joe; sisters, Bertha Hutchinson and Edith Baldock, and a son-in-law, Leo Streit.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday in Bilden Funeral Home, Hatton.
