John Kubousek
FOREST RIVER, N.D. -- John Kubousek, 84, Forest River, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, in Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton, N.D.
John Kubousek was born May 30, 1914, the son of John and Francisca (Zacek) Kubousek, in Forest River, where he attended school. He married Ann Tupa on Sept. 30, 1941. They farmed near Forest River until 1976, when they retired. They later moved into Forest River.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Allen (Lynda), Big Stone City, S.D., Marvin, Dickinson, Leonard (Lynn), Grafton, Jack, Forest River, and Dale, Fargo; a daughter, Sharon (Joseph) Marvin, Coon Rapids, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and brothers, Bill (Doris), Forest River, and Frank, Grand Forks.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Anne Skibiski and Mary Paschke; half brothers, Leonard, Jerry and Louis; and half sister, Rose Phelps.
Services: 9 a.m. Saturday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Minto.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Tollefson Funeral Home, Grafton, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Forest River Cemetery.
Hannah Strand
MINNEWAUKAN, N.D. -- Hannah Strand, 77, Minnewaukan, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Hannah Oram was born May 24, 1921, the daughter of Peder and Gjertina (Eidum) Oram, in Devils Lake, where she graduated from high school. She worked in the defense plant in Cheyenne, Wyo., during World War II. She married Arnold Strand on Nov. 13, 1954, in Jamestown. They moved to Napa, Calif. She took her LVN training and worked in hospitals and nursing homes. They returned to North Dakota in 1977 and lived in Minnewaukan. Arnold Strand died in 1980.
She is survived by a brother, Norman, Devils Lake; a sister, Clara Oram, Devils Lake; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Oram, Devils Lake.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Hilmer; and a sister, Elsie.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m. Saturday, in the funeral home.
Rene H. Regeimbal
CROOKSTON -- Rene H. Regeimbal, 89, Crookston, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at home.
Rene H. Regeimbal was born Aug. 4, 1909, the son of Louis and Valerie (Menard) Regeimbal, in Crookston, where he attended school. He joined the U.S. Army April 7, 1942, during World War II and was discharged Dec. 9, 1945. He returned to work on the family farm. He married Mildred Casmey Reitmeier on Nov. 12, 1955, in Crookston. He retired from farming in 1974. He worked as a custodian for Crookston School from 1969 to 1978.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Jerry (Sue) and David (Paulette), both of Crookston; daughters, Julie (Bruce) MacCallum, Warroad, Minn., Laura (David) Kruse, Hudson, Wis.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Conroy, Lakota, N.D.; and brothers, Adolph (Dorothy), Bismarck, and Eli (Marge), Alpena, Mich.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pauline Reitmeier; a son, Mark; eight sisters; and four brothers.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Chapel, Crookston, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston.

M. Gerhard Erickson
HOOPLE, N.D. -- M. Gerhard Erickson, 78, Hoople, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, in St. Ansgar's Health Center, Park River, N.D.
M. Gerhard Erickson was born Oct. 31, 1919, the son of Gustav and Molly (Gjevre) Erickson, in Edinburg, N.D. He grew up and attended school in Hoople. He farmed in Dundee and Lampton Township, Walsh County, N.D., until retiring in 1981. He married Margaret Born on Oct. 19, 1958, in Crystal, N.D.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Douglas and Dennis, both of Hoople, and Scott, Edinburg; and a brother, Orbin, Hoople.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Inez; and an infant brother.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday, Park Center Lutheran Church, Hoople.
Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, with a 5 p.m. prayer service, Tollefson Funeral Home, Edinburg, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Park Center Lutheran Cemetery.
Eva C. Hanson
BEMIDJI -- Eva C. Hanson, 84, Bemidji, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, in North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
Eva Caroline Elg was born Aug. 23, 1914, the daughter of Carl Otto and Eva (Payne) Elg, in Erie, Minn. She attended school in Erie, Goodridge, Minn., and graduated from Bemidji. She lived and helped on the family farm. She married Earl Rhine Hanson on Oct. 18, 1936, in Brainerd, Minn. They lived in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota and North Dakota, before returning to Bemidji in 1945. She worked at Woolworths, Bemidji. Earl Rhine Hanson died Feb. 2, 1998.
She is survived by daughters, Phyllis (Carl) Anderson, Princeton, Minn., and Mercein Ferdig, Bemidji; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl, Goodrige.
She was preceded in death by a sister; five step sisters; and four step brothers.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Evangelical Covenant Church, Bemidji.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today, Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji. Memorials are suggested to North Country Hospice and Home Care.
Earl L. Johnson
ROLETTE, N.D. -- Earl L. Johnson, 93, Rolette, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at home.
Earl L. Johnson was born Feb. 20, 1905, the son of Eric and Susie "Rock" Johnson, in Oakland, Neb., where he attended school and farmed. He worked as a bus driver, maintainer/operator at the air base in Nebraska. He also worked for a threshing crew that came to North Dakota. He married Pearl Lien on Nov. 10, 1938, in Devils Lake. They began farming in 1944.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Ronald (Charlene), Rolette; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters; and brothers-in-law, Grant Foss and Reidar Lien.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette.
Visitation: Begins 3 p.m. today, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service, Niewoehner Funeral Home, Rolette.

Iris D. Lundstrom
ROCK LAKE, N.D. -- Iris D. Lundstrom, 81, Rock Lake, and Long Beach, Calif., died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, in Seattle.
Iris D. Rodenbiker was born Dec. 25, 1916, the daughter of John and Lizette (Kruisk) Rodenbiker, in Rock Lake, where she graduated from high school. She worked in Cando before moving to Washington, D.C., where she worked at the Pentagon during World War II. She later moved to Long Beach, where she worked for Veteran's Administration Hospital until retiring. She lived in Long Beach and Rock Lake.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and an infant sister.
Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando.
Visitation: 9 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home.
Burial: All Nations Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Lake.
Emma A. Greenwood
HENSEL, N.D. -- Emma A. Greenwood, 95, Bottineau, N.D., formerly of Hensel, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, in a Bottineau health care center.
Emma A. Widme was born June 25, 1903, the daughter of Andrew and Ellen Widme, in Hensel, where she attended school. She married Floyd Greenwood on Feb. 23, 1926, in Hoople, N.D. They lived and farmed in Walsh and Pembina Counties, N.D. They retired in the mid-60s and in 1969, they moved to Bottineau. Floyd Greenwood died in 1971. For the past three years she had lived in Good Samaritan Center, Bottineau.
She is survived by a son, Gordon, Bottineau; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, United Parish Church, Bottineau.
Visitation: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau.
Burial: Oak Creek Cemetery, Bottineau.
Herbert J. Liening
BUXTON, N.D. -- Herbert J. Liening, 85, Buxton, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, in Union Hospital, Mayville, N.D.
Herbert J. Liening was born May 4, 1913, the son of Ben and Mabel (Johnson) Liening, in Buxton, where he attended school. He joined the U.S. Army during World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945. He returned to the family farm near Buxton.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Bennie Jr.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, Holmes United Methodist Church, Reynolds, N.D.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today, Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: South Holmes Cemetery, Reynolds.
Theodora 'Theo' L. Holden
BEMIDJI -- Theodora "Theo" L. Holden, 94, Bemidji, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, in North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji.
Theodora Lucy Bossom was born July 10, 1904, the daughter of Theodosus and Myrtle (Stuart) Bossom, in Laporte, Minn. Her father died when she was 6. Her mother married George Blashill in 1913 and they moved to Saskatchewan, Canada, where they had a cattle ranch. They returned to Laporte in 1920, where she graduated from high school. She attended teachers training at Bemidji State Teachers College. She taught in Backus, Minn. She married Harry Holden on Dec. 31, 1929, in Laporte. He died in 1952. In 1954, she moved to California and worked as a dietitian's aide near Castro Valley in Eden Hospital, retiring in 1974. In 1975, she moved to Bemidji.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Janet Blashill, Bemidji.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, United Methodist Church, Bemidji, and 2 p.m., Backus Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today, Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, and one hour before services in the church.
