Phyllis Booth
LANGDON, N.D. -- Phyllis Booth, 59, Langdon, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, in Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, Langdon.
Phyllis Ann Malmedal was born Dec. 10, 1938, the daughter of Olander and Olga (Loe) Malmedal, in Bisbee, N.D., where she graduated from high school. She married Roger Booth on Oct. 26, 1968, in Rock Lake, N.D. They lived in Rock Lake and Devils Lake before moving to Langdon, in 1973. Roger Booth died April 1, 1984.
She is survived by a brother, Harry, Sterling, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Cora Vesterso and Ruth Malmedal; and brothers, Orlando, Floyd and Ernie.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday in United Methodist Church, Langdon.
Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. today in Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Bisbee Lutheran Cemetery.
Margaret Trosen
PARK RIVER, N.D. -- Margaret Trosen, 61, Park River, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, in St. Ansgar's Health Center, Park River.
Margaret Pengilly was born Sept. 12, 1936, the daughter of Ernest and Florence (Cree) Pengilly, in Pisek, N.D. She attended school in Rushford Township, Walsh County, N.D.. She married William Trosen on Oct. 13, 1955.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Richard (Lisa), Walcott, N.D., Randall (Lynette), Roben (Stacy), both of Park River, Russell (Pam) Cavalier, and Reed (Kathleen) Harvey, N.D.; 12 grandchildren; and her father, Edmore, N.D.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rodney; her mother; and a brother, Darrell.
Services: 10: 30 a.m. Monday, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Park River.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, in Henriksen-Overbye Funeral Home, Park River, and one hour before services in the church.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Park River.
Brady M. Gisvold
GALESBURG, N.D. -- Brady M. Gisvold, 12, Galesburg, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Brady Matthew Gisvold was born Sept. 24, 1985, in Fargo. He attended kindergarten and first grade in Hunter, N.D. He was a seventh grader at Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg Middle School. He enjoyed watching and playing sports, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake. He was a member of the Clifford-Galesburg Twins summer baseball team. He also enjoyed golf, basketball and playing cards.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Melissa Bring, Galesburg and Matthew and Linda Gisvold, Greenwood, Neb.; sisters, Lindsay and Makenzie Bring, Galesburg; grandparents, Jeanne Paulson, Hunter, Lynn and Betty Bring, Galesburg, and Marvin and Joyce Gisvold, Moorhead; and great-grandparents, Eva Moore, Hunter, and Hazel Bring, Mayville, N.D.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg Junior/Senior High School.
Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, in Stordahl Lutheran Church, Galesburg, and one hour before services in the school.
Burial: Elm River Cemetery, Galesburg (Baker, Mayville).
Duane Rux
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Duane Rux, 64, Thief River Falls, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, in Dakota Heartland Hospital, Fargo.
Duane Willis Rux was born May 7, 1934, the son of W.E. and Inga (Garfve) Rux, in Excel Township, Marshall County, Minn., where he attended school. He moved to St. Paul, where he worked for the Swift Packing Plant. He worked for Federal Cartridge in Mounds View, Minn. He moved in 1971 to Thief River Falls, where he worked for Hillman Construction Co in Warren, Minn., and Hydra-Mac in Thief River Falls. He retired in 1996 from Marvin Windows in Warroad, Minn.
He is survived by sisters, Ardelle Stanina, Osseo, Minn., and Joyce Dale, Richfield, Minn.; and brothers, Gail, Thief River Falls, Alden, Coon Rapids, Minn., and Glen, Vancouver, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, in Green Funeral Chapel, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: 8 to 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Burial: Holt Cemetery, Holt, Minn.
George Nordlund
OBERON, N.D. -- George Nordlund, 88, Fargo, formerly of Oberon, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
George Alfred Nordlund was born Nov. 2, 1909, the son of John and Ida (Nielsen) Nordlund, in Rock Township, Benson County, N.D., where he attended school. He farmed with his father and worked for his uncle, Walter Nelsen, at the John Deere implement dealer in Oberon. On April 1, 1934, he became manager of the Farmers Union Oil Company in Oberon. He married Ruth Anderson on Feb. 14, 1936, in Sheyenne, N.D. They lived in Oberon until August 1941, when they moved to Northwood, N.D. He purchased the Gambles store agency with Ray Anderson. In 1943, he returned to Oberon. In 1949, he began working for Berg Fargo Motors Supply, Fargo, selling automotive parts. In the late 1950s, he worked for Fargo Farm and Equipment Co., selling and servicing Wisconsin engines. He retired in 1975. He started a company selling pens, caps and other specialty items. In 1953, they moved to Mapleton, N.D. In 1993, he moved to Bethany Towers in Fargo. In October 1997, he moved to Bethany Homes. Ruth Nordlund preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, George Elroy, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; a daughter, Darlene (Duane) Lysne, Wahpeton; four grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Edna Jensen and Ruth Kelley.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo.
Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. today, Mavis-Whiting Chapel in Bethany Homes, Fargo.

Mildred O'Connor
LANGDON, N.D. -- Mildred O'Connor, 74, Langdon, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, at home.
Mildred Viola Goodrich was born July 3, 1924, the daughter of Matthew and Bessie (Clemente) Goodrich, in Caddo, Okla., where she attended school. She married Ralph O'Connor on Aug. 8, 1943, in Sacramento, Calif., where they made their home. In 1943, they moved to Langdon. Ralph O'Connor died Nov. 21, 1994.
She is survived by a son, Robert, Langdon; and a sister, Corrine Smith, Fresno, Calif.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Langdon.
Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. today, Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon, with a 7: 30 p.m. prayer service Sunday in the church.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Langdon.
Donald Boom
Donald Boom, 76, 665 High Plains Court, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Donald William Boom was born Aug. 20, 1922, the son of William and Mary (DeWall) Boom, in Castlewood, S.D. He attended school in Dempster, S.D. He served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1943. He married Magdalene Schultz on Sept. 16, 1943, in Tacoma, Wash. They moved to Grand Forks. He worked for Railway Express Co., later known as REA Express, from 1946 to 1968, when he retired. They moved to Everett, Wash., where he worked for Boeing Aircraft Co. They returned to Grand Forks, where he worked for Lystads, later known as Ecolab, until retiring in 1987.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Ronald (Virginia), Pasco, Wash.; daughters, Margaret (William) Mager, Kennewick, Wash., Judith (Stanley) Shelton, Raytown, Mo., and Cindy (Dean) Capouch, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and sisters, Phyllis Conn, Sioux Falls, S.D., Dorothy Sween, Estelline, S.D., and Marcella Thompson, Punta Gorda, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene.
Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, in Amundson Funeral Home, and one hour before services in the church.

Olga L. Narveson
OBERON, N.D. -- Olga L. Narveson, 80, Oberon, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, in Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, N.D.
Olga Laura Bakken was born Jan. 29, 1918, the daughter of Gilbert and Sophie (Lunde) Bakken, in Oberon, N.D. She moved with her family to the Stoney Lake area, rural Minnewaukan, N.D. She attended school in Minnewaukan and Oberon. She married Orty Narveson on Jan. 13, 1938, in Minnewaukan. They made their home in Oberon. She cooked and drove school bus for the Oberon school. She retired in 1986. In March 1993, she moved to Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd.
She is survived by her husband, Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd; daughters, Janice (John) Hager, Oberon, and Darlene (Gerald) Schell, Eustis, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sylvia Neer, Great Falls, Mont.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Rudolph, Alvin, and Arthur.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Grandfield Lutheran Church, Sheyenne, N.D.
Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nelson Funeral Home, Minnewaukan.

Elmer J. Iverson
Elmer J. Iverson, 81, 1102 15th Ave. S., died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, at home.
Elmer Joseph Iverson was born Aug. 20, 1917, the son of John and Lizzie (Askim) Iverson, in Lankin, N.D., where he attended school. He married Eunice Chally on Oct. 4, 1942, in Adams, N.D., He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. They lived in Grand Forks, where they established Iverson Electric Co. He was a licensed master electrician and electrical contractor until his death.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Harlen, Grand Forks; daughters, Diana Iverson, Grand Forks, and Janice Kasperson, Washburn, Wis.; five grandchildren; brothers, Alvin, Park River, N.D., and Orville, Grand Forks; and a stepsister, Avis Sandland, Clearbrook, Minn.
Services: 1: 30 p.m. Tuesday in Calvary Lutheran Church, Grand Forks.

Kathryn Nelson
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Kathryn Nelson, 87, Thief River Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, in the Convalescent Nursing Care Unit of Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls.
Kathryn Margaret Ingeborg Nelson was born Oct. 10, 1910, the daughter of Iver and Mathelda (Naasen) Nelson, in Albert Lea, Minn. She moved with her family to Alvarado, Minn. She attended school in Alvarado and Viking, Minn. She attended vocational school in Red Wing, Minn. She returned to Thief River Falls, where she made her home with her parents. She was a bookkeeper for Northern Motors from 1952 until retiring in 1973.
She is survived by a sister, Elenor Shefveland, Red Wing; and a brother, Kenneth, Thief River Falls.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Vernon and Casper.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Evangelical Covenant Church, Thief River Falls.
Visitation: 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls.

Gladys V. Moskau
MAYVILLE, N.D. -- Gladys V. Moskau, 91, Bismarck, formerly of Mayville, died Friday, Aug. 28, 1998, in Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.
Gladys Moskau was born Feb. 4, 1907, the daughter of Gilbert and Hannah (Broten) Moskau, in Mayville. She moved with her family to Grand Forks, where she graduated from high school in 1927 and from UND in 1932. She did clerical work in Minneapolis for about 50 years. She retired in 1991 and moved to Bismarck.
She is survived by a brother, Milton, Bismarck.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.
Visitation: 6 to 9 p.m. today, Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck, and one hour before services in the Care Center.
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks.
