Joseph Eugene Lovegreen was born
July 16, 1929, the son of Oldies and Irene May Lovegreen, in Nymore, Minn. He graduated from Walker (Minn.) High School in 1947. He worked for White Castle Hamburgers, Minneapolis. He married
Inez Wolfe on Nov. 17, 1950, in Minneapolis. He joined the U.S. Army on Jan., 9, 1951. He was discharged on Oct. 8, 1952, at the rank of corporal. He served as an inactive Army Reservist from Oct. 8, 1952 to Oct. 11, 1956. He returned home, and worked for Farnum Office Supply Co., Minneapolis. In 1956, he began working for Minneapolis Honeywell Regulator Co. as an evaluation engineer. He retired in 1991. He married
Hazel Barke on June 7, 1980, in Minneapolis. She died
June 22, 1989. In the spring of 1991, he moved to Bemidji.
He is survived by a son, Michael (Debra), New Hope, Minn.; a daughter, Ann (James) Offerdahl, Fosston, Minn.; four grandchildren; several stepchildren and stepgrandchildren; a brother, Glenwood, Pine River, Minn.; and a sister, Ethel Fisher, San Diego.
He was preceded in death
by a son, Scot; and sisters, Irene and Joyce Galindo.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Hope Lutheran Church, Fosston.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Fosston.

Mable Vance
LEEDS, N.D. -- Mable Vance, 78, Leeds, died
Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at home.
Mable Crane was born
Feb. 2, 1919, the daughter of Arthur and Mae (Shamback) Crane, in Leeds, where she graduated from high school. She married
Cloyd Vance on Oct. 9, 1942. During World War II, they lived in Milwaukee. They farmed for 12 years near Leeds. She worked for Home Cafe and Pat's Fairway, Leeds. She also worked at North Dakota School for the Deaf, Devils Lake, and sorted potatoes in Cando, until retiring. Cloyd Vance died
Sept. 14, 1965.
She is survived by a son, Dennis, Leeds; a daughter, Marilyn (Eldon) Paulson, Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren; and sisters, Ruby Stein, Dilworth, Minn., Miriam Anderson, Mukitteo, Wash., and Shirley Metz, Ventura, Calif.
She was preceded in death
by brothers, Walter and Ray; and sisters, Helen Tarang and Florence Anderson.

Lillian McNamara
WALHALLA, N.D. -- Lillian McNamara, 95, Walhalla, died
Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, in Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla.
Lillian Junkin was born
Jan. 14, 1903, the daughter of Henry and Bernice (Edwards) Junkin, in Drayton, N.D., where she attended school. She taught in LeRoy, N.D. She married
Vernard McNamara on Dec. 23, 1922, in Devils Lake. They lived near LeRoy. She attended Mayville (N.D.) State College, where she received her teachers certificate. She continued to teach in LeRoy. She owned and operated an apparel store in Walhalla.
She is survived by a daughter, Deloris (Allan) Mathison, Walhalla; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death
by her husband; two brothers; and four sisters.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Walhalla Lutheran Church.

Edith Stegman
NECHE, N.D. -- Edith Stegman, 83, Neche, died
Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, in Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, N.D.
Edith Irene Foxen was born
April 24, 1914, the daughter of Oscar and Maggie (Sherd) Foxen, in Leroy, N.D. She married
Otto Stegman on June 20, 1933, in Neche. They farmed in the Neche area until moving into Neche, in 1973. Otto Stegman died
March 14, 1975. In October 1997, she became a resident of Wedgewood Manor.
She is survived by a brother, John, Neche; and a sister, Verna D'Heilly, Neche.
She was preceded in death
by brothers, Orville and Clarence.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Christ Lutheran Church, Neche.

Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, in Tacoma.
Gerald Troftgruben was born
Feb. 5, 1958, the son of Sundry and Pearl (Gilbertson) Troftgruben, in Grafton, N.D. She grew up and attended school in Adams. He worked in Casper, Wyo., until moving to Tacoma in 1988, where he did gardening and landscaping work.
He is survived by his mother, Adams; brothers, Gaylen, Texas City, Texas, and Gary, Harvey, N.D.; and a sister, Pam Landsem, Adams.
He was preceded in death
by his father; a sister, Lori Ann; and his grandparents.

Robert "Berger" Egeland, 60, 606 DeMers Ave., East Grand Forks, died

Robert Egeland was born
Jan. 26, 1937, the son of Nels and Philomena (Feist) Egeland, in Grand Forks. He grew up in Grand Forks and Gilby, N.D. He attended school in Grand Forks and Plummer, Minn. He married
Marilyn Kotrba on Aug. 1, 1964, in East Grand Forks, where they made their home. He drove truck for 41 years for area trucking firms. He retired in November 1995. He drove van for the Douglas Place, East Grand Forks, and RSVP at the University of Minnesota-Crookston.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Annette (Robert) Beach, Minneapolis, and Debbie Egeland, Minneapolis; his mother, East Grand Forks; brothers, John, Martin, Patrick and Kenny, all of East Grand Forks, Wayne, Edwards, Mo., and Mike, Fisher, Minn.; and sisters, JoAnn Juneau, Longmont, Colo., Norma Gregoire, Puyallup, Wash., and Diane Legvold, East Grand Forks.

LaVonna Lee Fleming was born
Aug. 4, 1931, the daughter of William and Harriet (Eller) Fleming, in Warwick, N.D., where she grew up. She attended the Lake Washington Township School. She attended high school in Pueblo, Colo. She returned to North Dakota and worked as a nurse's aide at City Hospital in New Rockford. She married
Richard Weisenburger on Aug. 28, 1949, in New Rockford. They lived and farmed in Rosefield Township near New Rockford.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Peter (Joy), Clifton, Texas, Steven (Sharon), New Rockford, Michael, Laramie, Wyo., and Kenneth (Mary), Minneapolis; daughters, Luann (Dennis) Rimmereid, New Rockford and Brenda (Wesley) Schumann, Fargo; 17 grandchildren; brothers, Herman and Gene, both of Pueblo, Jerry, Warwick, and Gaylen, Fort Pierre, S.D.; and sisters, Averiel Wood, Warwick, Muriel Stilwell, Tega Cay, S.C., and Glenna Gjestvang, New Rockford.
She was preceded in death
by her parents; and a brother, Norman.

Russell Joseph Edland was born
Dec. 31, 1924, in Fargo. He lived in Dazey, N.D., before moving to Cooperstown, where he made his home with Clarence and Minnie Edland. He grew up and attended school in Cooperstown. He married
Gertrude Adolphson on Oct. 16, 1954, in Detroit Lakes, Minn. They lived and farmed west of Cooperstown.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Ronnie, Cooperstown, and David (Anna), Whittier, Calif.; a grandson; and brothers, Keith Muncy, Dazey, and Leo Edland, Cooperstown.

LaVerne Ensrude was born
Dec. 11, 1922, the son of Emil and Mary (Hegseth) Ensrude, in Pekin, where he attended school. He lived and farmed in the Pekin area all his life.
He is survived by brothers, Vernon, Pekin, and Paul, Grafton, N.D.; and a sisters, Ellen Peplinski, Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death
by sisters Marlys and Trudy.

Elmer Christianson
PORTLAND, N.D. -- Elmer Christianson, 80, Portland, died
Feb. 4, 1998, in Union Hospital, Mayville, N.D.
Elmer Christianson was born
April 14, 1917, the son of Herman and Clara (Rud) Christianson, in Finley, N.D. He attended school near Sharon, N.D., until 1936, when he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. In 1937, he returned to Sharon to farm until joining the U.S. Army in 1942. He was discharged Jan. 7, 1946 and moved to Mayville, where he farmed with his brother. He married
Ruby Cooper on Nov. 25, 1947, in Portland. They lived and farmed in the Mayville-Portland area until 1979, when he retired. He worked part-time for other farming operations until 1997.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Miles (Laurie), Thompson, N.D.; two grandchildren; brothers, Earl and Kenneth, both of Portland, and Jerome, Mayville; and sisters, Hazel Nygaard, Northwood, N.D., Ruth Lindaas, Everett, Wash., and Myrtle Sishbien, Sun City, Ariz.
He was preceded in death
by brothers, Jeroy, Axel and Leonard; and six more brothers and sisters.

Ruth Linde
Ruth Linde, 74, Grand Forks, died
Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare.
Ruth Irene Trydahl was born
March 21, 1921, the daughter of Targie and Cora (Hermanson) Trydahl, in Thompson, N.D., where she attended school. She attended Aaker's Business College in Grand Forks. She worked as a receptionist at the Grand Forks Clinic for 30 years. She married
Donald Linde in 1946 in Grand Forks. He died
in 1970.
She is survived by daughters, Barbara (Arnold) Farmer, South Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Kathleen Sawler, Grand Forks; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death
by a son, Greg; brothers, Lars and Tharald; and sisters, Caroline Holien and Margaret Zimmer.
