Dale Stewart
Dale Stewart, 85, Regent, passed away at his home on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010.
Dale was born a Doc Hill baby on April 27, 1925 to Lennon and Irma (Armstrong) Stewart. His early years were spent attending Regent Public School and helping on the farm.
On March 8, 1943 he married the love of his life, Betty Trunkhill in Dickinson. They spent the early years of their married life farming and raising their six children on a farm near Regent.
In 1962 he moved his family to Regent. They ran a café for a short period of time and then he became the custodian at the Regent Public School, a job he held for nine years. He then made a move to the west coast in 1972, but was never really at home there, so after four years he moved back to the prairies of North Dakota.
He owned and operated a trucking business for several years. He became a bus driver for the Regent Public School district in 1970 and drove the bus off and on for over 30 years. Dale had a love of music and played drums in many bands. He could always be coaxed into a foot-tapping rendition of “Pop Goes the Weasel” on his harmonica.
He was a charter member of the Sodbuster Saddle Club and the Regent Lions. He served on the Regent Fire Department and was mayor of Regent for two terms. Dale was a member of the Regent Congregational Church.
He was happiest when surrounded by his family, his pride and joy. He is survived by one son Merle (Kelly) Stewart of Regent and four daughters Kay (LaVerne) Zenker, Regent, Terri (Kevin) Lien, Dickinson, Sherry Mueller, Dickinson, DeeAnn (Terry) Hartman, Regent and his sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Betty; one son, Gene Stewart; son-in-law, Glenn Mueller; great-grandson, Jaxon Wiederholt; his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
Theodore Dolechek
Theodore Peter Dolechek, 76, Surprise Ariz., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 at Best Care Assisted Living, Surprise, Ariz.
Ted’s funeral service will be Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sun City West, Ariz.
Ted was born Oct. 30, 1933, in Dickinson, the son of Pete and Mary (Fisher) Dolechek. He was raised in Dickinson by his grandparents, Max and Mary Dolechek, after his mother passed away in 1939 and graduated from Dickinson Central High School in 1952. Ted served honorably in the Unites States Navy from 1952 to1956 during the Korean War.
Ted married Shirley (Adamski) in 1955 in California. They raised their two children, Darrell and Cheryl in California and then spent many years in Colorado until retiring permanently in Arizona in 1999.
Ted spent his entire 35 year career at McKesson Drug Company. He held several positions including purchasing manager, national buying manager and regional sales manager. Ted’s passion was golf, polka dancing and his family. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports and making southwest wood crafts.
Traveling to craft shows and to visit family, children and grandchildren were also things that brought him joy. He was a devoted husband and father.
Clarion Kubas
Funeral services for Clarion Kubas, 61, of Dickinson, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 18, the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Josh Ehli celebrating. Burial will follow the service at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson.
A rosary and vigil service will be held at 7 p.m., today, Aug. 17, at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson.
Visitation will be held today, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, continuing at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Dickinson from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Clarion passed away on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson.
Clarion was born on Dec. 20, 1948, the son of Albert and Mollie (Tuhy) Kubas in Dickinson. He grew up in Dickinson, attended St. Wenceslaus grade school and graduated from Trinity High School’s second graduating class in 1966. Clarion then attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton for two years.
On April 25, 1970, he married Shirley Steffan in Dickinson. He worked through the ‘70s as a mechanic, and in 1980 he began farming with his father north of South Heart. Along with farming, he also had a mail route which he ran until his death. He served on the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. Clarion was a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, and also served as a pre-marriage counselor through the Parish Council. Clarion played with many different musical groups, most often with the Chuck Kadrmas Band. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, his Corvette, traveling and hunting. Above all, he loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and having his family around.
Clarion is survived by his wife, Shirley, Dickinson; three sons, Monte (Susan) Kubas and their children, Zachary, Jacob, Abbey, Dickinson, Craig (Nikki) Kubas and their children, Kylen, Kali, and Camden, Gladstone, and Tyson Kubas, Dickinson; and one daughter, Marquel (Kevin) Berger and their children, Ty, Braedon, Colton and Dylan, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clayton; one sister, Sharon; and his mother-in-law, Mildred Steffan.
Memorials may be given to Trinity High School in memory of Clarion Kubas.

Anton J. 'Tony' Jilek
Funeral Mass for Anton J. “Tony” Jilek, 78, will be 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 20, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Jim Braaten officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 19, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Tony passed away Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson.
Anton J. “Tony” Jilek was born Feb. 16, 1932, to Anton F. and Sophie (Sykora) Jilek on the family farm north of Dickinson. Tony grew up on the family farm and attended school at St. Patrick’s Grade School in Dickinson. After school, he continued to work on the family farm. On March 1, 1954, Tony married Margaret M. Rambousek at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec. The couple made their home on a farm near the Versippi, area northeast of Dickinson. It was here where they raised their three children, Gary, Linda, and Kaye. Tony operated the farm and dairy for a number of years before going to work for Fisher Sand and Gravel. He also worked for Flint Industries until he retired. He spent the remainder of his life on the farm. Tony enjoyed boating and fishing at Lake Sakakawea, refurnishing antique furniture, and visiting with family and friends.
Tony is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret, Dickinson; one son, Gary (Carol) Jilek, Dickinson; two daughters, Linda (Brian) Schroeder, Dickinson, and Kaye (Rick) Vincent, Fairhaven, Mass.; five grandkids, Dustin Davis, Billings, Mont., Melissa Owen, Conn., Dakota Rose, Dickinson, Brandt (Tanya) Dick, Bismarck, and Brandon, Fairhaven, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Davis and Jovani Owen; one brother, Wayne (Diane) Jilek, Dickinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Lucas Allan Jilek; and a great-grandchild.

Martha Schroeder
Martha T. Schroeder, age 77, of Rapid City, S.D., passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at her residence.
She was born on Dec. 11, 1932, in Dickinson to Joseph and Agnes (Pachl) Dolajak. She spent her youth being raised on the family farm in rural Dickinson along with her siblings. Martha enjoyed gardening, horticulture, cooking, canning, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed driving her mustang convertible and watching her favorite soap operas. She worked as a Pharmacy Tech for Rapid City Regional Hospital for over 30 years. Her family would like to thank Rapid City Regional Hospice of the Hills for their care and support.
She is survived by four daughters, Lana (Erich) Eisenbraun of Rapid City, Connie (Roger) Comer of Cheyenne, Wyo., Myra (Brian) Spitzer of Rapid City, Danette (Ray) Eggleston of Rapid City, one son, Kevin (Vicki) Schroeder of Wright, Wyo., 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one brother, Raymond, four sisters, Delores, Rosemary, Diane, and Loretta. Martha was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. MDT at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City with Fr. Bill Zandri officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the memorial service.

Denise Bolles, 38, Dickinson formerly of Bismarck, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her home in Dickinson.
Graveside services for Denise will be at noon CST, Monday, May 11, at the Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck with Rev. Steven Wisthoff officiating.

Morgan Dawn 'Pookie' Kolling
Morgan Dawn “Pookie” Kolling, age 8 of Davenport, N.D. was called home to be with Jesus June 22, 2009 after a 14-month battle with brain cancer.
Morgan was born at MeritCare in Fargo, June 13, 2001 to Joseph and Angela Kolling.
In her short eight years on earth, Morgan taught everybody who knew her how to live, laugh and love. Live life to the fullest, laugh every chance you have and love others more than yourself.
She is survived by and will be very much missed by her mother Angela (Lenz) Kolling, her father Joseph Kolling and big brother Andrew, Davenport, N.D., grandparents Kevin and Dawn Kolling, Dickinson, N.D., along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Morgan is preceded in death by her grandmother Dawn Lenz and grandfather Stephen Lenz, uncle Christopher Kolling, great-grandmas Betty Braaten, LaVern Lenz and great-grandpa’s Andrew Braaten and Clifford Lenz, Joseph Kolling and Grant Krebs.
In lieu of flowers, The Kolling Family asks that donations be made to the following places: Davenport Lutheran Church, Roger Maris Cancer Center, Meritcare Children’s Hospital, Make A Wish of North Dakota and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
A celebration of life for Morgan will be Friday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davenport Elementary School, Davenport, N.D. The prayer service will be Thursday, at 7 p.m. with a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davenport Elementary School.
