William Wanner
William Wanner, “Bill,” age 60, born in Dickinson and longtime resident of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on Feb. 27 surrounded by his family in Denver.
Bill’s life was truly a life to celebrate. His love for his family was deep and boundless. He enriched the lives of everyone he met with his philosophies. Live life to the fullest and with passion. Dare to dream. All people are valuable to our world and deserve our love and care.
Bill’s passions were infectious: Music, books, art, exploring new places, meeting new people, business, good food and drink, sports and walks. A cherished mentor, his quiet presence was always a treasured gift of his love. He was a unique individual who left the world a better place than he found it.
Bill established the well-known William’s Pub at 29th and Hennepin Avenue in 1974. He was also responsible for the creation of the Artist’s Quarter, The Lux and the Blue Star Room at Rossi’s Steak House, among others. Bill had a lifelong appreciation for music and over the past 35 years was one of the Twin Cities’ primary promoters of jazz.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Monte Carlo Bar and Café, 219 Third Avenue North, Minneapolis, on Thursday March 11 from 4 to 7 pm.
Survived by Sweet Melissa (spouse); his daughters Lindsay (Brian) Morgan, Z’leste Wanner and Maxlyn Wanner; and their mother Christine Kisel; grandchildren: Andrew, Zachary, Tessa and Alexis Morgan; sister and brothers: Rita Browning, James Wanner, Charles (Dana) Wanner.

Armella Chruszch, 80, Belfield, died Thursday, March 25, at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Armella’s Parastas will be at 10 a.m., Monday, March 29, at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield, with Father Taras Miles as celebrant and assisted by Deacon Leonard Kordonowy. Interment will take place at St. John’s Ukrainian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and time of sharing at 3 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Armella Gregory was born Feb. 7, 1930, in Belfield, the daughter of John A. and Anna (Anheluk) Gregory. She was raised and educated in the Gorham area and also attended Model High in Dickinson.
Armella married Paul Chruszch on June 5, 1947, at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church at Ukrainia. Together they farmed north of Belfield in Billings County and in 1965 moved into Belfield, where they continued to farm and also operate an electrical contracting business. Due to health reasons, Armella became a resident of St. Benedict’s Health Center in August of 2000.
Armella and Paul were founding members of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Ladies Society and had also been a leader in the 4-H.
Armella was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandma to her husband, Paul; their three children: Connie (Andy) Huschka, Cypress, Calif.; Cheryl (Frank) Petykowski, Ostego, Minn.; and Bob (Corinne) Chruszch, Belfield; five grandchildren: Melissa (Mark) Peterson, Clinton (Amy) Nameniuk, Caleb, Lane and Dokia Chruszch; five great-grandchildren: Hannah, Collin and Hailey Nameniuk, Maisey and Marshall Peterson; and her sister-in-law, JoAnn Gregory, Chandler, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers and one sister-in-law, LaVerne and Raymond (JoAnn) Gregory. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Ladies Society at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Arrangements are with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Helen Geraldine “Gerry” McRae Stevenson passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday morning, March 26, at Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin LeBoeuf officiating. Visitation for family and friends will take place Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel.
Montana services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, Mont., with Pastor Levi Durfey officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at the Bonnievale Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held Friday, April 2, from noon to 8 p.m. with a prayer service being held at 7 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker.
