Barbara M. Binstock passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2003 at St. Luke’s Nursing Home, Dickinson, ND. Barbara was born in Russia on April 9, 1909 to Mary and Frank Ell. She came to the United States with her parents and settled in the Dickinson area where she attended Dickinson Normal School. As a young adult, Barbara moved to Minneapolis and in the early 40’s Barb lived in Hawaii where she worked for the United States Government. On May 10, 1974, Barb married Clement Binstock Jr. in South Heart, ND.
Barb and Clem spent the next years together in South Heart and various winter homes, which included Hemet, CA. and Mesa, AZ. They were true sunbirds. Barb was a very avid golfer, winning the Minneapolis open and other golf tours. She golfed with many pros and even taught the game of golf to Clem. While living in Hawaii, Barb became very involved with the Hawaiian culture. She taught the art of Hula dancing and loved music and dancing in general. Barb also loved going to the lake and spending time with family and friends.
When Barb married Clem in 1974, she inherited 7 stepchildren and their spouses along with 18 grandchildren. Barb was the absolute “best” thing that happened to Clem and his children. She would become the only “Grandma Binstock” the grandchildren would ever come to know and love.
In the early 90’s, Alzheimer’s took over and Barb became a resident of the Hilltop Home Nursing Home and then St. Luke’s Nursing Home where she was a resident until the time of her death. Her loving heart, great kindness, and high spirit will be missed by all.

I’M FREE Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.
I’m following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day. To laugh, to love, to work or play. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I’ve savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts
and share with me. God wanted me now; He set me free.
