Genell Peabody
Genell Odessa Peabody, age 60 of Ekalaka, passed at the family home near the Chalk Buttes area Southwest of Ekalaka of natural causes.
Genell was born the daughter of Clinton and Noba (Griffith) Dunn on May 7, 1942 in Denton County, TX.
She grew up and attended school in the Gainsville, TX area. Genell’s family came complete when she married Ronald Peabody on August 2,1971 in Madill, OK.
Together, they made their home in Gainsville, TX and later moved to Oklahoma.
During this time Genell worked as a CNA for various Hospitals and nursing homes.
In 1986, Ron and Genell moved to Ekalaka where she has resided until her death.
Genell continued to work as a CNA at the Dahl Memorial Nursing Home in Ekalaka.
She loved her garden, quilting, crocheting, being outside, and small animals, most of all, Genell loved her husband, children, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Genell is survived by her loving husband Ron, two sons Roger Skinner of Whitesboro, TX, Kenneth (Tammy) Skinner of Helena, MT; three daughters Deirdra (Bob) Miller of Baker, MT, Judy Trimmell of Kingston, TX, Leslie (Jon) Wimmer of Ekalaka, MT and her precious grandchildren Brandon, Jared, Brian, Michael, Bradley, Kacy, Lyndsay, Austin and Roger Lee also her great-grandchildren Mazzie Taylor, Alexis, Tyler, Shane.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation: Tuesday 11 am – 6pm at the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka.
Prayer Service: Tuesday 6pm at the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka.
Memorial Service: Wednesday, Dec. 4th at 2PM at the Sorrel Horse in Ekalaka.

Philip Reisenauer
Mass of Christian Burial for Philip Reisenauer, 93, of Dickinson is Thursday, December 5, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Dennis Schafer, celebrating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00p.m. followed by a vigil service led by Sister James Messer at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel.
Philip passed away on Monday, December 2, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Philip, the son of Mike & Elizabeth (Ott) Reisenauer, was born August 24, 1909 in Dickinson, ND. He attended a rural country school for eight years. He was married on November 25, 1941 to Kathryn Messer at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He and his wife farmed southeast of Dickinson for 34 years. He had a true love for farming. In 1975 they retired and then in 1980 they moved to Dickinson, where Philip resided until his passing. Throughout his life he loved his grandchildren & great grandchildren, reading, gardening, playing solitaire, fixing things, and entertaining company. He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Philip will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Survivors include four sons: James Reisenauer, Donald (Marlene) Reisenauer, Phil (Debbie) Reisenauer and Francis (Mary) Reisenauer all of Dickinson, ND; two daughters: Marie (Pete) Betchner of Dickinson and Ann (Linus) Evinger of Halliday ND; 23 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; one brother Nick (Caroline) Reisenauer of Dickinson, ND.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Reisenauer; daughter-in law: Mary Elizabeth Reisenauer, three sisters Emma Thielen, Regina Lantz, and Magdalen Messer; two brothers: George Reisenauer and Joseph Reisenauer; one grandson: Daniel Betchner.
Roberta Johnson
Roberta Johnson, age 77, of Killdeer, ND passed away Sunday, December 1, 2002, at the Hill Top Home of Comfort.
Funeral Services are Friday, December 6, 2002, 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel with Pastor Aanen Gjovik officiating. Interment will follow at Dickinson Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel.
Roberta, daughter of Andrew and Edna (Davis) Johnson was born on April 30, 1924 in Werner, ND. She was raised at home until the age of 10 at which time she attended the State School in Grafton, ND. She remained there until 1975 when she moved to the Southview Group Home in Dickinson. In 1988, she moved in to a foster home living here until moving to Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer in 1993 where, Roberta resided till the time of her passing. Roberta loved to sing and had the good old hymns memorized and where ever she worshiped Roberta was devoted to singing the songs. Roberta was out going and enjoyed the companionship of others.
Roberta is survived by two sisters, Gertie Markham, Dallas, TX, Ruby Grady, Richland, WA, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and four brothers.
Margaret Noftsker
Margaret E. Noftsker, 84 of Baker passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.
She was born March 27, 1918 at Wells, MN, the daughter of Herman and Lena Boeck Drager.
She grew up and attended schools in Wells.
Margaret worked at the poultry plant in Wells.
On May 28, 1938 she was married to Raymond Noftsker at Algona, Iowa.
In the fall of 1939, the family moved to Baker where they farmed and later purchased Ray’s grandfather’s farm south of Baker.
Together Margaret and Ray raised their family and farmed until 1950 when they moved into Baker.
They have made Baker their home since.
Margaret enjoyed embroidery, taking rides through the country and going out to eat.
She was very proud of her flowers, raising the most beautiful tulips, bachelor buttons, sweet peas and her purple clematis vine that grew along her home.
But most of all she enjoyed spending time and taking walks with her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Baker Wesleyan Church where she taught Bible School and Sunday School.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Ray of Baker; a daughter, Carol (Larry) Austin, Baker; a sister Violet Ignowski, Waseca, MN; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Roger in 1987; a daughter, Delores Goodman in 2001; two brothers: Edgar and Clarence Drager and a sister, Sally Meyer.
A Prayer Service will be held 7:00 pm Friday, December 6, 2002 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 7, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Baker.
Interment will follow in the Bonnievale Cemetery in Baker.
Elsie Schmaltz
Elsie, daughter of Anton and Clara (Ridl) Urbanec, was born on December 30, 1926, in Dickinson, ND.
While growing up she attended St. Patrick’s, Versippi and Lehigh schools in Dickinson, graduating in 1944.
She worked for Cloverdale Creamery.
On February 13, 1946, Elsie married Stanley Schmaltz in Dickinson.
They moved to a farm southeast of Dickinson and were there for seven years.
Then they moved north of Richardton.
Here they farmed grain and operated a grade A dairy from 1954 through 1969.
At this time they moved back to Dickinson and purchased The Dickinson Motel from Elsie’s parents and operated it for 23 years before retiring.
They continued making Dickinson their home.
Elsie was a member of Christian Mothers in Richardton, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and St. Anthony Club.
Elsie enjoyed traveling, especially bus tours.
She loved to sew and display her crafts in shows around the state.
Elsie especially loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elsie passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2002, at St. Luke’s Home.
Elsie will be greatly missed by her husband, Stanley, of Dickinson, their children, David (Charlene) Schmaltz of Mandan, Norma (Jim) Myers of Grand Forks, Rita (Ron) Keller of Radcliff, KY, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Keith (Wendy) Schmaltz and their children Shayla, Sheradyn, and Braxtyn; Staci (Tim) Berg and their children, Jacob and Hunter; Melinda Keller, Amanda Keller, Jessica Myers, and Tyler Myers, two sisters, Wiletta (Paul) Stoltz of Dickinson, ND and Carmen Faller of Dickinson, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
