Calley G. Grondahl, 75

Calley Genevieve Grondahl died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND, at the age of 75, surrounded by family and friends.
Calley was born April 20, 1929 in Buffalo, ND, to Clarence and Evelyn (Harrington) Johnson. Calley attended high school in Buffalo, where she graduated in 1947. After high school, Calley attended business college in Fargo, then went to work for Sorkness Construction in Fargo, where she met Donald Grondahl. On December 28, 1950 she married
Donald in Buffalo, North Dakota. For fourteen years, Don, Calley and family traveled with Donal Corporation, then in 1964 the family moved to Cormorant Township on Lake Ida.
During their years on the lake, Calley was active in her family's lives and took great joy in spending time with family and friends. Calley loved to bake, play cards, make crafts, paint, collect jewelry and laugh. She was a 4-H leader for many years. Calley continued all of these activities after moving to Lake Park, MN, where she resided until her death.
She will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and son-in-law.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Grondahl, Lake Park, MN; son, Donald (Tammy) Grondahl; three daughters, Donna (Leroy) Anderson, Sheri Kaiser, and Shiela Nelson; two brothers, John Johnson and Dayton (Robin) Johnson; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Jack E. Ikel, 75
Died: Friday, May 7, 2004, in Mesa, Arizona.
Jack Ernest Ikel was born February 14, 1929 in Waubun, Minnesota. On May 7, 2004, his family surrounded him as he peacefully paved the way to heaven for the rest of us. His life was filled with family and friends.
He spent his youth and was educated in Minnesota then joined Cook Sign Company in 1945. He married
Helen Erickson on August 5, 1948 at Olivet Lutheran Church of Fargo, North Dakota. He entered the North Dakota Army National Guard in 1951 (Korean Conflict) and was honorably discharged in 1961 reaching the rank of First Lieutenant. In 1960 he joined National Laboratories, headquartered in Montvale, NJ, where he was promoted to Regional Sales Manager and retired in 1991. Civic memberships include the American Legion and a Life Member of the Elks Club. Jack was an avid sportsman, loving softball (star pitcher on several Minnesota State Championship teams), golf, fishing and hunting (marksman).
His parents, Emil and Anne; brothers, Alfred and Bob; and sister Irene Daker preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 55 years, Helen, of Mesa, AZ; sons, Robert (Laura) of Dallas, TX, and Kevin (Sandra) of Houston, TX; daughter, Vyanne (Don) Laustrup of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Avrey and Nathan Ikel and Anna Laustrup; brother Arnie Ikel; sisters, Vivian Larsen and Lorelei Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Allan T. Isakson, 80

Allan T. "Ike" Isakson, 80, 1118 1st Street North, Fargo, ND, died on Thursday, November 4, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Allan, known as Ike, was born on January 20, 1924, in Aurelia, IA, to Axel and Sarah (Bakken) Isakson. He graduated from high school at Willmar, MN, and then entered the U.S. Army Air Force. He served during WWII in the 369th Bomb Group, stationed in North Africa. Following his military service he returned to Willmar before moving to Park River, ND, where he began his career in the telephone industry. In 1952, he moved to Devils Lake, ND, and went to work for Northwestern Bell. Allan married
Georgine Vallier on September 6, 1953, in Williston, ND. They lived in Devils Lake, Grafton and Grand Forks, ND, and East Grand Forks, MN, before moving to Fargo, ND, in 1965. Allan was involved in the Telephone Pioneers and had served as chapter president. He served as an usher at First Lutheran Church for over twenty years. He retired from Northwestern Bell in 1982, after thirty-six years in the telephone industry.
In retirement, Allan served as president of the Telephone Pioneers Life Members. Also during his retirement he worked for Midwest Medical, servicing blood pressure machines in the tri-state area, and worked for McGraw-Hill publishing, collecting housing permits.
Allan was mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He loved to fish. He and Georgine enjoyed over twenty wonderful years at Leaf Lake, where they kept a very large garden. They both bowled many years at Red River Lanes in Fargo.
Allan is survived by his wife, Georgine, Fargo, ND; three daughters, Nancy Isakson, Minneapolis, MN, Valerie (Andreas) Pirillis, Paralimni, Cyprus, and Rebecca (Rique) Schill, Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Isaak, Allan and Xenia Pirillis and Carly Schill. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Edwin, Norman, and Marlow, and a sister that died at birth. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law Mary Louis Isakson, Walker, MN, Norma Isakson, Fountain City, WI, and Joyce Isakson, Dassel, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert F. Haugstad, 78

Robert Forrest Thelmer Haugstad, 79, of Moorhead, died on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Robert was born in Trail County, ND on October 4, 1924 to Albert and Mabel Haugstad. He grew up and attended school in Cummings, ND at Bingham School. On March 8, 1945 he was enlisted into the Army and served over seas during Occupational Duty in Italy. He married
IvaDell Hanson on June 4, 1949 in Climax, MN.
Robert worked for Balmer Motors in Moorhead from 1948 to 1970 as Parts Manager. After that he worked for the Moorhead School System at Moorhead Technical Institute, and retired in 1988.
Robert enjoyed traveling, bus trips in the US and Canada, and has been to Norway four times where he toured the country and visited relatives. He also enjoys ice fishing, dancing and photography.
He loves his family consisting of his surviving son Jon (Beth) Haugstad, Bemidji, MN; two daughters, Nancy (Noel) Eichhorst, Grand Forks, ND and Mary Haugstad, Grand Forks, ND; one granddaughter, Anna Haugstad, Bemidji, MN; three brothers, Edgar (Lorraine) Haugstad, Moorhead, MN, James (Audrey) Haugstad, Moorhead, MN, and Vernon (Mavis) Haugstad, Cummings, ND; one sister, Leatrice Dell of Carrington, ND.
Robert was preceded in death by his grandson Derrick Haugstad and one brother in law Oscar Dell.
Angeline O. Lundstrom, 73

Angeline O. Lundstrom was born on December 1, 1927, near Borup, MN, to Oscar and Annie (Hogetvedt) Askelson. She grew up and attended school at Borup and was confirmed at Winchester Lutheran Church. Angeline worked at Ken's Cafeteria in Fargo, ND, and later Herbst Department Store Cafeteria, Fargo. She married
Clarence Lundstrom on November 12, 1960, and they made their home in Fargo. Clarence died on December 14, 1968. Angeline was living at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo at the time of her death.
Angeline is survived by one brother, Ted (Marilyn) Askelson, Twin Valley, MN; two sisters, Evelyn Boe, Felton, MN, and Rhoda Anderson, Ely, MN.
Raymond V. Krabbenhoft, 80
Died: Monday, March 21, 2005, in Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND.
Raymond was born on July 15, 1924 in Sabin, MN to Carl and Esther (Johnson) Krabbenhoft. He grew up and attended local schools.
Following high school, in 1945, he entered in to the army. In the army he was a technician on the world's largest radar station in the South Pacific. Following his discharge from the army in 1946, he took up geological studies by correspondence from the University of California. He made his career in farming in Sabin, MN.
He married
Isabelle Anderson on November 28, 1959 in Edgley, ND. They made their home in Sabin, MN.
Raymond is survived by two sisters, Arla (Tom) Daugherty, Lucerne Valley, CA and Anita (Paul) Grabowski, Reno, NV; and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife and parents and one brother, Carl Krabbenhoft.

Lloyal Harris Burnside, 67, of Hawley, died on Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at his home under hospice care, surrounded by his family.
Lloyal was born March 17, 1937 in Hawley, MN, to Robert and Julia Burnside. He grew up and attended school in Hawley. Following school he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Korea. Upon his return he married
Janice Glende on July 6, 1962 in Sisseton, South Dakota. They made their home in Hawley, MN, where he owned and operated A.B.F., Inc. for 32 years, until his retirement. Lloyal enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Janice, Hawley, MN; one son, Tim Burnside, Mapleton, ND; two daughters, Kimberly (Jon) Gibson, Hawley, MN, and Teresa Boit, Hawley, MN; one brother, Robert Burnside, Hawley, MN; one sister, Ione (Harley) Erickson, Fargo, ND; ten grandchildren, Jason, Nate, Cody, Shayne, Justin, Jaye, Brianna, Mikayla, Paige, and Alexis; and one great grandchild, Alaya.
Arlin D. "Ben" Benson, 66
Died: Tuesday, December 21, 2004, in the VA Medial Center, Fargo, ND.
Arlin "Ben" Dale Benson, 66, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at the Fargo V.A. Medical Center.
He was born July 26, 1938, to Arthur and Odell Benson in Twin Valley, MN. After graduation, Arlin served in the military and then returned to Twin Valley, MN.
He married
Helen Ritter Feb. 3, 1962, and made their home in Fargo, ND. He worked as a Master Plumber and operated his plumbing and heating business until his retirement.
His family includes his children, Charlene (Ron) Preuss, Keller, Texas, Denise (Duane) Mischel, West Fargo, Cindy (David) Price, St. Peters, MO, Jim (Kim) Benson, Monticello, MN, Paul (Sheila) Benson, Moorhead, MN; his brother and sister, Arthur "Junior" (Carol) Benson and Donna (Sherman) Lee; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many very, very special nieces and nephews.
Esther A. Swanson, 88

Esther A. Swanson, 88, died Saturday, October 9, 2004 at MeritCare's Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.
Esther was born on February 12, 1916 to Peter and Alvina (Paasch) Swanson in Moorhead, MN. Esther grew up and attended school in Moorhead, MN. She worked as a buyer and clerk for Waterman's Apparel of Moorhead and Black's Apparel of Fargo for a total of 45 years.
Esther is survived by two brothers; Donald L (Delores) Swanson, Moorhead, MN and William "Bill" (Delores) Swanson, Perham, MN.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Norman Swanson, and one sister, Evelyn Brooten.
