Agnes K. Bierdeman, 88

Agnes Katherine (Jones) Bierdeman, 88, Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, ND, died on December 28, 2004 in the nursing home under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Agnes, the youngest daughter of Ancil Hampton Jones and Emma Ann (Davies) Jones, was born November 21, 1916 in Carrington, ND, Foster County.
She was raised and educated in the Vashti and Sykeston, ND area and graduated from 8th grade. She worked on the family farm until her marriage to Albert Bierdeman, August 2, 1949 in Jamestown, ND. They lived in both Minnesota and Fargo, ND for a short time until moving to Minot, ND in 1950. Agnes was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, reading, singing and caring for her children. Her favorite hobby was researching family history and she was a long time member of the Mouse River Loop Genealogical Society. She also spent many years as a baby-sitter for a number of children including one child with special needs. While in Minot, she was a long time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church including Martha Circle. After Albert's death, March 30, 1996, Agnes lived alone until moving to Fargo in August of 1997. While in Fargo, she lived with her daughter until her recent move to Villa Maria on December 1, 2004. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Moorhead.
Agnes is survived by 2 of her 13 siblings, Annie (Jones) Watkins of Round Rock, Texas (95) and Mary (Jones) Lowrie of Sedro Wooley, Washington (92). In addition to her siblings, she is survived by 3 children, Jack Bierdeman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Dean Bierdeman of El Cajon, California; Betty Bierdeman of Fargo; 3 grandchildren, Michael Bierdeman, El Cajon, California; Jennifer (Bierdeman) Probst, Fayette, Indiana; Anna (Bierdeman) Rojas, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and 5 great grandchildren; Cody, Kalea, Josiah, Elias, and Caleb.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Dorothy was born March 30, 1926 in Prosper, ND to John and Annie (Maxwell) Heger. On January 8, 1944 Dorothy married
Ervin Ford in Fargo. She worked for Pepsi Bottling Company until her retirement.
She is survived by three sons;, Edwin (Kathy) Ford, Hillsboro, ND, Eugene (Lydia) Ford, Milwaukee, OR, Ernest (Ruth) Ford, Elk River, MN, one brother; Leo (Ida) Heger, Rochester, WA, two sisters; Viola (Dwayne) Hanson, Hawley, MN, Joann Bowers, Seattle WA; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son; Ervin Jr. Ford, one daughter; Darlene Dreier, two brothers; John and Frankie Heger, and three sisters; Rosella Johnson, Marie Heger and Millie Buchholz.
Duane R. Swenson, 74
Died: Sunday, December 12, 2004, in his home under the care of hospice.
Duane R. Swenson, 74, died December 12, 2004, in his home, with his family at his side.
Duane was born in Fargo, North Dakota on September 13, 1930. He attended rural school in Eglon Township and graduated from High School in 1948 from the N.W. School of Agriculture in Crookston, Minnesota. On June 17, 1951, Duane married
Mavis Jensen, and together they raised a family and farmed east of Hawley. Duane attended and graduated from the Missouri Auction School in Kansas City in 1959. He, and later with his son, Rand, provided auctioneer services in the community for 30 years.
Duane was a life long member of Eksjo Lutheran Church, where he served on the council and cemetery boards and enjoyed fellowship with his church family. He was a board member of Eglon Township for 34 years and a life member and active participant of the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Association.
Throughout his life, Duane loved his family and friends, cared for the land and trees, enjoyed adventures in good eating, travel, flying airplanes, working with gas engines and tractors, swimming and the many other simple pleasures his time on earth had to offer.
Duane is survived by his wife, Mavis; three daughters, Elana Swenson Gridley, Pamela Swenson (Harry) Knox, and Nancy Swenson Trickey; his son, Rand Swenson; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild; his mother, Muriel Lord Swenson; one sister, Diane (Robert) Arnold; three nephews; and his mother-in-law, Mabel Runningen Jensen.
Duane was preceded in death by his father, Roy Swenson.
Through his long illness, family members and grandchildren have visited frequently and at Thanksgiving the family gathered together one last time.
Connie K. Raasch, 63

Connie K. Raasch, 63, of Fargo, died Thursday, November 25, 2004 in MeritCare's Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.
Connie was born to Deloss (Dutch) and Muriel (Hexum) Mortenson on August 4, 1941 in Madison, MN. She grew up and attended school in Madison, MN until the 7th grade. After that Connie and her family moved multiple times throughout the upper Midwest due to her father's grain bin business. She graduated from Castlewood, South Dakota High School in 1959. After graduation she attended cosmetology school in Sioux Falls and worked there until moving to California in 1963. She moved to Moorhead in 1967 and worked for Silverline Boats, then on to her current career in Healthcare, beginning at St. Johns Hospital in 1969. She was currently director of Heartland Independent Provider Network.
In August of 1988 she married
the love of her life and she and Rich built a most special relationship. One of mutual respect, unconditional love, independence and understanding. She especially took pride and "bragging rights" in her grandchildren. They ranked right up there with the "lake" as her favorite topics of conversations. She and Rich were currently in the process of a permanent move to the lake, and her dream home. Connie was a lady of many talents, had many cherished friends, and always looked for the positive side of everything. She had a vast love for the outdoors, the lake, and her grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and many cherished friends.
She is survived by her husband Richard; one son, Brett (Lori) Raasch, Ankeny, IA; one dauther, Kayla (Jim) Denk, Lakeville, MN; and four grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Robert L. Crowe, 71
Died: Thursday, December 9, 2004, in his home under the care of hospice.
Robert Lynn Crowe, 71, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2004 at home after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Robert was born on September 11, 1933 in Fargo, ND the son of the late Raymond and Rose (Davenport) Crowe. He attended schools in Fargo and Valley City. Following his education he joined the Marine Corps in November of 1950. He went to Korea with the First Marine Division where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medal with Combat "V" for heroic achievement in connection with operations against the enemy on August 15, 1952. In 1957 he went to Okinawa with the Third Marine Division. He was honorably discharged on December 10, 1959.
Robert married
Jean Kane on August 27, 1957 in Valley City, ND. They made their home in Fargo while he worked at General Diesel and Equipment then transferred to Minot in 1969. They returned to Fargo in 1977 when Bob took a job with NPN Equipment. He then worked at Power Brake Midwest until his retirement in January 1996. Jean died on September 11, 1995. He married
Phyllis Jegtvig in 1996, and they were involved in the management of The 200 Restaurant and R and P Concession. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. A lifetime member of the Fargo VFW, Am vets, and DAV. He was also a life member and current Commandant of the Roughrider Marine Corps League.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; three children, Randell (Joan) Crowe, Arvilla, ND, Tamara (Jeffrey) Olson, Fargo, ND, Trenton (Cheryl) Crowe, West Fargo, ND; five step children, Joyce Burns, Loveland, CO, Jacquelyn (Craig) Carlson, Fairbanks, AK, Jennifer (Jeff) Stickney, Dilworth, MN, Vince Jegtvig, Fargo, ND, Jason Jegtvig, Moorhead, MN; seven grandchildren; Tory, Severina, Kane, Jeff, Lanah, Cydney, Curtis; eight step grandchildren, Tyler, Amanda, Liza, Ben, Brad, Nicole, Sam, Maggie; three great grandchildren, Logan, Sophia, Nicholas; five sisters, Janet Hehr, Lamoure, ND, Charlotte Rath, Hickson, ND, Susan (Roger) Brinklow, West Fargo, ND, Judy (Alvin) Rath, Valley City, ND, Margaret Schwab, Englevale, ND; six brothers, Raymond (Penny) Crowe, Ravanna, OH, Charles (Mary) Crowe, Glyndon, MN, Larry (Mary) Crowe, Valley City, ND, Joel (Wanda) Crowe, Valley City, ND, Bruce (Joyce) Crowe, Alexandria, MN, Michael (Louise) Crowe, Casper, WY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean, and sister Kathleen.
Lois A. Bangsberg, 80

Lois A. Bangsberg, 80, of Moorhead, died on Wednesday, February 2, 2005, under Hospice Care in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Lois was born on August 5, 1924 in LaCrosse, WI to Fred and Martha Kowalke. She grew up and attended school in LaCrosse.
She married
Paul "Bill" Bangsberg on July 6, 1943 in Aurora, IL. They moved back to LaCrosse after WWII. They lived in various Minnesota cities and have resided in Moorhead, MN since 1959.
She graduated from Moorhead State University in 1971 with a degree in Education.
An active volunteer, she was involved and spearheaded many civic projects in the FM area, and was named Woman of the Year in 1975.
She is survived by two daughters, Marti (Gene) O'Dea, Elk Point, SD; Cindi Bangsberg, Moorhead, MN; one son, T. Jeff (Anita Boucher) Bangsberg, New Hope, MN; granddaughter Tracy (Dax) Johnson and great grandsons, Torin and Layne; and many loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one sister.
Memorials preferred to Christ the King Church Youth Mission or Courage North.
David F. Wilson, 77

David F. Wilson, 77, passed away on Friday, April, 2, 2004, surrounded by family in his home.
David Fillmore Wilson was born on October 19, 1926, in Washburn, ND, to Leo E. and Josephine (Indseth) Wilson. His Grandmother, Carrie, was midwife to his birth and he was born in the four-poster bed that remains in his home today. His childhood and early adult years were spent in Falkirk and Washburn. He received the distinction of becoming an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Washburn High School, and immediately enlisted in the army at age 17, serving during the final years of WWII. He was assigned to the 15th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron attached to the 7th Armored Division, and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant during his 26 months of service.
David attended Jamestown College for two years, where he met his wife, Lorraine "Holly" Holechek. They were married
in 1948 in LaMoure, ND. They moved to Greeley, Co. where they both received B.A. degrees from Colorado State University. David majored in music. While he was a student, David organized and directed the first school band at Johnstown, CO. After graduation, David taught at Max, ND, for two years and then in Hazen, ND. He received special recognition in 1985 for having composed the original Hazen school song, which is still used today. In 1959, David and his family moved to Dillon, Montana where he spent the following ten years teaching music at Beaverhead County High School. He earned a Masters Degree in Music from Western Montana University. In 1969, he moved with his family to Fargo, ND, and taught band at Agassiz Junior High School until his retirement in 1988. David had a deep love of all genres of music, from Dixieland to Opera, and excelled as a trumpet player. Through teaching, he tried to encourage every student to discover the joy of music.
David was a member of the American Legion and the ND State Legion Band. He was a trumpet soloist with the Bismarck Elks Band and also directed the Fargo Elks Band, the Fargo Post #2 Legion Band and the El Zagel Shrine Band. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Moorhead Country Club and spent many happy days playing golf with his "over the hill gang" and with his wife, Holly. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fargo. David enjoyed hunting and fishing in the mountains of Montana. He was a voracious reader and student of history. He also enjoyed baking bread from scratch.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol (Irven) Jacobson. He is survived by his wife, Holly; sons Lee Wilson, Portland, Or and Jay Wilson, Fargo, ND; daughter Jody (Loren) Hulber, Macungie, PA; sisters Marjorie (Herb) Parker, Minot, ND and Zoe (Sid) Van Ness, Bellevue, WA; grandsons Brett Wilson, Minneapolis, MN and Casey Wilson, Portland, OR and granddaughter Allison Wilson, Portland, OR. He was dearly loved, and will be missed.
