Doris Gold, 83
Died: Friday, March 10, 2006, in Elim Home, Fargo, ND.
Doris Gold (Nee Weisenbach) passed away on March 10, 2006, at Elim Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born in Cleveland, OH on December 9, 1922, to Paul and Suzanna Weisenbach. Her mother introduced her to the piano at an early age, igniting a life-long passion for music. Doris earned a Bachelor's degree in music from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1944. She met her future husband, Harold Gold, on the night of her senior recital, and they were married
shortly after her graduation. Doris and Harold raised four children in their home in Shaker Heights, OH . They moved to Fargo in 1989, to be close to their daughter, Pauli, and her family.
Doris was a vivacious and dynamic woman who had great passion for those things in life she deemed important. Music was a central theme in her life; she will be remembered as an exacting teacher who expected nothing but the best from her students and herself. She shared her love of music with countless students during a career that spanned more than six decades. Her fascination with cats was well known to friends and family. A cat fortunate enough to be adopted by Doris was destined to a royal life of lavish attention. Above all else to those who knew her well, the core of Doris' existence was her family. She held tight to her children as she guided them through school, music lessons and beyond. Motherhood was a calling of the highest order to Doris, and she reveled in the triumphs and successes of her children as though they were her own.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Cindi Cody and her husband, Jim Cody, of Phoenix AZ; brother, Paul Weisenbach and his wife, Rosemary, of Cleveland, Ohio; son-in-law David Worth, of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Lauren Worth Semerad and her spouse, Dr. David Semerad of Dupont, WA, Christopher Worth, of Omaha NE, Lindsey Cody, of Flagstaff, AZ, Simon and Susan Gold of Philadelphia, PA and Steven and Samantha Gold of Cleveland, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gold; sons, Randy and Geoffrey Gold; and daughter, Pauli Gold Worth.
Brooks Hamilton Anderson
Died: Saturday, May 12, 2006, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
God called a little Angel home. Brooks Hamilton Anderson, infant son of Michael and Jennifer Anderson was born May 12th, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND. He died peacefully in his mother and fathers arms.
Brooks is survived by his parents Michael and Jennifer Anderson, Hillsboro, ND; brothers Colton and Jackson; grandparents Roger and Connie Anderson, Hillsboro, Tim and Lynn Mutchler, Northwood, ND; great-grandparents James and Judy Mutchler, Northwood; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
John O. Stoutland, 84

John O. Stoutland was born on September 21, 1921, in Fargo, ND, where he grew up, graduating from Fargo Central High School. John served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, entering service on January 16, 1941 and being discharged on August 26, 1944. He married
Virginia Howe on August 26, 1944, in Fargo, ND, where they made their home. John worked as a self-employed house painter and then for Standard Oil, before going to work for Super Value in Fargo as a warehouseman, where he spent twenty five years, retiring in 1982.
John is survived by his wife, Virginia, Fargo, ND; son, John A. "Jack" (Anna) Stoutland, Coral Springs, FL; daughter, Judy Aafedt, Detroit Lakes, MN; brother Arnold (Susan) Stoutland, San Clemente, CA; sister Clara Muralt, Shakopee, MN; four grandchildren and two great-grandchidren.

Odean "Abe" Nappe, 82

Odean "Abe" Nappe, 82, Glyndon, MN, died on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, in Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, ND.
Odean "Abe" Nappe was born on May 21, 1923, in Mahnomen, MN, to Ole and Anna (Haugo) Nappe. He grew up and attended school there. He married
Shirley Larson on June 8, 1945, in Mahnomen, MN, and they lived in Mahnomen where he farmed and worked for Ness Construction. In 1975, they moved to Merced, CA, and lived there until returning to the area in 1983. They moved to Glyndon, MN, in 1992. Odean and Shirley had sold Christmas trees for twenty-one years, first in Moorhead and then in Glyndon. They also made crafts and sold them at various craft shows in the area. Family was most important to Odean and he was very proud of all of his children. Shirley was the love of his life and they had recently renewed their wedding vows at their 60th anniversary in June. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a practical joke.
Odean is survived by his wife, Shirley Nappe, Glyndon, MN; two sons, Todd (Diana) Nappe, Germany, and Troy (Lori) Nappe, Moorhead, MN; five daughters, Sharon Lowman, Sedalia, MO, Carol (Dale) Busse, Moorhead, MN, Cindy (Steve) Griesert, Faribault, MN, Tami (Steve) Kazeck, Rochester, MN, and Tracy (Todd) Tollefson, Glyndon, MN; two sisters, Evelyn Nappe, Duluth, MN, and Elizabeth Oppido, Suitland, Maryland; twenty-eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kim Spaeth; and four brothers, Larry, Leslie, Eldon and Robert.
Joyce L. Erickson, 86

Joyce L. Hanson was born on October 2, 1919, in Rockland, WI, to Albert and Julia (Haugstad) Hanson. She married
Lloyd Erickson on June 11, 1949, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. They lived in Michigan and Anoka, MN, before moving to a farm near Hitterdal, MN in 1954. They moved in to Moorhead in 1971. Lloyd died on November 14, 1995.
Joyce is survived by one sister, Florence Hanson, Moorhead, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born November 4, 1919 in Banks, ND, daughter of Jerry and Mary Jarbo. She was raised on a farm outside Oslo, ND and was the youngest of their 4 daughters. Elizabeth moved to Grand Forks, ND in the late 30's. She met her husband Tony there as they worked together at St. Michaels Hospital. They married
on January 10, 1942 in Mt. Shasta, CA. after the war they moved back to Grand Forks. In the late 40's they moved to Waskish, and later to Kelleher. In September of 1994 they settled in Little Falls, MN. They lived there until recently moving to Moorhead.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Tony; daughter, Elaine (Gene) Borud; sons, Eugene (Nancy), and Robert; and foster son Joseph Shogren; grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew, Ryan (Kelly), Travis, and Troy.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Jerry and Mary; grandson, Jeffrey Wayne Borud; and sisters, Harriet Klinkner, and Angeline Boileau Amiot.
Thelma Knutson, 85

Thelma Knutson of Fargo, passed away on December 13, 2005, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Thelma was born in Buxton on January 3, 1920. She grew up and attended school in Buxton. On November 9, 1938 she married
Boyd J. Knutson of Hillsboro. They made their home in Buxton and Hillsboro. They also farmed from 1943 – 1960 in the Blanchard area, where she was active in the Blanchard Lutheran Church.
They moved to Fargo in 1960, she worked at St. Ansgar Hospital until 1965. From 1965 until she retired she was employed at Moorhead State University Minnesota. Some of her favorite past time activities were enjoying family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, going to church doings and senior citizen centers and her friends.
She is survived by her daughter Joanne K. Steffen, Fargo, two grandchildren, Denise (Bob) Kirmis and children Betsy and Sam, Hopkins, MN, Brad (Lana) Steffen and children Alexander and Lauren, Grapvine, TX, and Butch Hill, Fargo, who was like a son.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Daniel and Jorund Jore, a brother, Ole and son-in-law, Walter Steffen.
Martin T. Moe, 79
Died: Thursday, March 30, 2006, in Elim Care Center, Fargo, ND.
Martin Theodore Moe passed away March 30, 2006, at the Elim Care Center in Fargo. He was born August 8, 1926, to Selma (Lillehaugen) Moe and Martin A. Moe of Michigan, ND. He grew up on a farm in Dahlen Township, ND and was baptized and confirmed in Sarnia Lutheran Church.
Martin attended Dahlen Public School, graduating from high school in 1944. He managed the family farm until 1950 when he enlisted in the United States Army. Following basic training he entered the 11th Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, earning his Parachute Badge as a qualified parachutist in the U.S. Army. After serving four years in the Army Reserve, he received an honorable discharge from military service in 1956.
Upon returning to North Dakota, Martin completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of North Dakota majoring in Civil Engineering. His employment included constructing atlas missile sites throughout the Midwestern states, working as a Civil Engineer in San Francisco, and eventually locating in Denver, Colorado, where he established his own construction company, WILMOE, INC. He continued in this endeavor until his retirement in 1994. Following retirement, he returned to the family home in Michigan, ND, and enjoyed summer employment as a Maintenance Engineer at the Grand Forks Air Base.
His interests included down-hill skiing in the mountains, camping and hiking in the Colorado Rockies, long-distance running during summer months, and attending summer theatre and concerts in the Denver area. His interest in sporting activities was life-long, including UND Hockey, The Denver Broncos, and the New York Yankees.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Solveig and Al Bartz of Moorhead; three nieces: Dianne (Bob) Gunderson and Cynthia Moe of Devils Lake and Rebecca (Scott) Parkin of Bismarck; nephew Blair Moe, Minneapolis; grand-niece Jessica (Matt) Heen of Twenty-Nine Palms, CA; grand-nephews Ryan and Andrew Parkin of Bozeman, MT, and Shawn Parkin, Bismarck.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Arthur Moe and sister-in-law, Ruth Moe.
Richard O. Nordtvedt, 51
Died: Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in Elim Nursing Home, Fargo, ND.
Richard O. Nordtvedt, age 51 of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 in Elim Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Richard was born in Mayville, ND on February 24, 1955 and lived there until moving to Cooperstown at about the age of 4. He and his family lived there for the next several years. Richard joined the Army when he was 20 and served a couple of years. When he got out of the service he moved to the Fargo area.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Nordtvedt.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Nordtvedt of Williston; siblings, Sandra (Ron) Effhauser of Grand Forks, Terrell (Joyce) Gustafson of Glendale, AZ, Judy (Larry) Feske of West Fargo, Peter (Lisa) Nordtvedt of Walcott, and Sherry (James) Barclay of Williston.
Robert A. "Bob" Fogel, 52
Died: Saturday, April 01, 2006, in his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Robert "Bob" was born December 22, 1953 in Fargo, ND to Willard and Eleanor Fogel. He grew up in Moorhead and attended public schools. While in high school Bob was very interested in photography, taking many of the pictures for the 1969, 1970, and 1971 yearbooks. He also had a simmer job working for the Parks Department checking for Dutch Elm Disease. Upon graduating from Moorhead High, Bob attended MSUM and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Forestry. He returned to Moorhead and became the city's first Forester in 1977. Also in 1977 he was united in marriage to Debra Nelson of Moorhead. In 1985 he began directing park maintenance and was made parks director in 1993. Since 2003, Bob had been supervising compliance with environmental regulation, rolling out new rules for storm water and wastewater management, a job he continued from his home office when he was no longer able to go in to work.
Bob was diagnosed with ALS in January of 2005. He was deeply grateful and humbled by the help and support shown him by his friends and co-workers at the city of Moorhead.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; a son James and a daughter Caroline, both of Moorhead; step-mother, Dorothy; brother, Curt (Linda) of Jamestown; and sister Barbara (Norm) Wallace of Coon Rapids.
