Bradley Benjamin Crommett, age 23 of Kindred, died June 26, 2004.

Bradley was born on September 28, 1980 to Charles and Charlene Crommett in Grand Forks, ND. He grew up and attended school in Kindred, graduating in 1999. He was a talented musician and artist.

He is survived by his parents; brother, Brian (Erin) Crommett of Fargo; sister, Denelle Crommett of Fargo; brother, Brent Crommett of Fargo and 3 nephews, Kaleb, Gabriel and Nicholas Crommett.

Funeral service: Thursday, July 1 at 1:00 pm at St. Maurice’s Catholic Church, Kindred.

Visitation: One hour prior the service at the church and also Wednesday from 5-8 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred.

Burial: St. Benedict’s cemetery, Wild Rice, ND

Iwen, Eunice

Eunice L. Iwen was born to John and Leontine (Krueger) on April 11, 1911 in Arthur, ND. She graduated from Arthur High School and the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in education and business. After teaching one year she traveled east to Philadelphia, PA where she worked in the brokerage business. Her love for North Dakota and Pennsylvania never waned as she spent time in both states until returning to farm in 1960. She was a masterful farmer and earned several awards for her agricultural prowess. Eunice was active in the farming operation until retiring in 2001.

She died June 26, 2004 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.

She is survived by her partner of 35 years, Clarence Johnson of Arthur, ND and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral: 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Arthur United Methodist Church, Arthur, ND.

Visitation: Noon until the service at 2:00 pm at Arthur United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 30, 2004.

Burial: Arthur cemetery following the service.

Arrangements entrusted to the care of Fredrikson Funeral Chapel.

Rieck, Barbara

Barbara Ann Rieck, age 60, Fargo, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.

Barbara Ann Brophy was born December 11, 1943, in Minot, ND, the daughter of Francis and Orpha (Solseth) Brophy. She grew up in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1962. She moved to Grand Forks and lived there for five years. She moved to Fargo in 1974, where she worked at the Townhouse Motel, for Leroy Barton, for Joe Grossman, and at the Donaldson Hotel. At the time of her death, she was employed at the Sidestreet Bar and Grill. On June 2, 1985, she was united in marriage to Allen Rieck in Fargo. He passed away in 1991.

She is survived by two brothers, Duane (Jan) Brophy of Jamestown, ND, and Mike (Ginny) Brophy of Apple Valley, MN; and one sister, Doreen Brophy of Jamestown.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.

Engelking, Martha

Martha E. Engelking, 92, Fargo, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2004 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo.

Martha E. Stanhope was born to Frank and Winnie Stanhope in rural Tower City, North Dakota on December 31, 1911. She grew up and attended school in Buffalo, North Dakota.. Martha E. Stanhope and Reuben F. Engelking were married in Moorhead, Minnesota on October 31, 1929. They lived in Fargo most of their lives. Martha worked for many years at the Black Building in Fargo. Reuben preceded Martha in death on December 11, 1995.

She is survived by her

Prayer Service: Monday 8:00 p.m. Boulger Funeral Home

Visitation: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home and one hour before the funeral in the church.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens

Schmit, Maurice

Maurice R. Schmit, age 79, Fargo, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, in Riverview Place, Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Maurice Robert Schmit was born September 17, 1924, in Lisbon, ND, the son of Mathias and Veronica (Wiederholt) Schmit. He grew up in Lisbon and graduated from Lisbon High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II and was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska. Following the war he moved to Fargo, where he graduated from Dakota Business College. He began working for O’Day Equipment Company as an accountant. He worked there for 17 years. He was united in marriage to Mary Lazorenko on April 14, 1947, in Lisbon. He served as office manager at Farm Implement Wholesalers in Fargo and Alloway Manufacturing. He then began work at Northern Data Communications, where he retired from in 1990 as a partner. Mrs. Schmit passed away November 7, 1995. He moved to Riverview Place in May 2004.

Maurice enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by three children, Craig of Grand Forks, ND, Douglas (Darla) of Plymouth, MN, and Vicki Schmit of Crystal, MN; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Francis (Gladys) of Rugby, ND, Richard (Maxine) of Bismarck, ND, and Louis (Phyllis) of Coeur D Alene, ID; four sisters, Mary (Leo) Lemna of Enderlin, ND, Bernadette Kreyer of Tempe, AZ, Dolores (Larry) Timmer of Tempe, AZ, and Margaret (Bud) Hitchcock of Mesa, AZ; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Schmit of Kandiyohi, MN, and Louella Schmit of Bowman, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; daughter, Pam Thompson; and two brothers, Joe and Raymond.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Church of the Holy Spirit, Fargo. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held in the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery, Fargo.

Wolf, Rosemarie

Rosemarie N. Wolf, a longtime Fargo resident, died on June 16, 2004, at age 81 in Durango, Colorado. She had been living there for the past four years near her youngest daughter, Janet (Flow) Wolf- Cartier.

Homemaker and loving mother of six children, Rosemarie lived most of her life in Fargo, North Dakota, where she was active in many community and church activities.

Born Rosemarie Nolan in Milbank, South Dakota, on August 9, 1922, she and her family moved to Wahpeton, N.D. in 1927. Growing up, Rosemarie attended and was active in St. John’s Catholic Church in Wahpeton. In high school, she participated in theater and other performing arts, was a member of the debate team, edited the yearbook, and graduated as valedictorian of her class at Wahpeton High School. She went on to attend The Wahpeton State School of Science.

With World War II underway in Europe, Rosemarie moved to Washington, D.C., where she took a job with the office of Civilian Defense, and later transferred to the Civil Air Patrol, sharing occasional elevator rides with such luminaries as James Doolittle, Melvyn Douglas, and Eleanor Roosevelt. The First Lady would have Rosemarie and her co-workers at the CAP over to the White House for tea on occasion.

David Wolf, whom she had met and dated in Wahpeton, had also moved to Washington, D.C., where, after completing Officer Candidate’s School, he worked for the War Department in the newly-built Pentagon as part of Gen. Eisenhower’s administrative staff, and attended law school in the evening at George Washington University.

Rosemarie and Dave became engaged at Christmas 1941, and were married in February 1942 at St. Matthews Cathedral in Washington, D.C. When Dave was assigned overseas to Europe in 1942, Rosemarie and their first son, Michael, returned home to Wahpeton to live with her family.

After the war Rosemarie and Dave returned to North Dakota to make their home in Fargo and raise their family. Rosemarie became active in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church’s Women’s Auxiliary and PTA. She also volunteered as a Cub Scout leader and staff aide for American Legion’s North Dakota Boys’ State program. She and Dave helped serve holiday meals to the poor for many years. In addition to raising six children, Rosemarie was an avid bridge player, a reader of mystery and romance novels; she enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing the piano, and was a culinary artist who never ceased to amaze her family and dinner guests.

Rosemarie was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Wolf, in 1996. She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Michael and Kathleen M. Wolf, Carlsbad, Calif., Kathleen F. Wolf, Las Cruces, N.M.; Thomas and Harriet Wolf, Spokane, Wash., Mary E. Wolf and Louis Ocepek, Las Cruces, N.M., Flow Wolf-Cartier, Durango, Colo.; and Tim Wolf, Spokane, Wash. Grandchildren are Adam M. Wolf, Jersey City, N.J. Devon Wolf, Las Cruces, N.M.; Ursula, Conrad and Gavin Wolf, Spokane, Wash.; Ian Wolf, Spokane, Wash.; and Grace Wolf-Cartier, Durango, Colo. Rosemarie is also survived by her brother, Bob Nolan, Phoenix, Arizona.

Funeral services will be held at Church of the Nativity, 1125 11th St. South, in Fargo on Saturday, July 10, at 10 a.m., with Father Patrick Tobin officiating. There will also be a visitation Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm for family and friends at the Boulger Funeral Home, 123 10th St. South, in Fargo. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be sent to: the Alzheimer’s Association in Fargo at 4357 13th Avenue SW, Suite 203, Fargo, ND 58103.

Dwyer, Mary

Mary Louise Dwyer, age 79, Loveland, CO, formerly of Fargo, ND, died July 3, 2004 in Loveland, Colorado.

Mary Louise McLaughlin was born September 20, 1924 in Bismarck, ND. She moved to Fargo in 1930. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Fargo, and Felt & Tarrant Comptometer School in St. Paul, MN. She worked for Standard Oil Company in Fargo and Sloane-Blabon Company in Trenton, NJ. She married Jerome P. Dwyer January 2, 1945. They operated a real estate company in Fargo for 20 years. He died in 1987.

She is survived by three sons, Patrick (Fran) of Buffalo, MN, Michael (Peggy) of Maple Lake, MN, and Thomas (Karen) of Fargo; three daughters, Margaret Wood, Loveland, CO, Janet Zaycheck, Savage, MN, and Colleen Tuff (Ron), Omaha, NE; a brother, Brother John McLaughlin C.S.C., Austin, TX; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Dwyer; a brother, Raymond G. McLaughlin; a grandson, Andrew; and a great granddaughter, Chloe.

Visitation will be held at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Fargo.
