Faith E. Gast, age 58, 1606 E. Gateway Circle, Fargo, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Faith Berg was born August 5, 1945, in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of Erling and Delores (Wood) Berg. She grew up on a farm near Bisbee, ND, and graduated from Bisbee High School in 1960. She attended North Dakota State University. She graduated from Wahpeton School of Science with a nursing degree. She was united in marriage to Donald Gast on July 1, 1967, in Bisbee. They lived in various communities. In 1973, the family moved to Hankinson, ND, where she worked at St. Gerard’s Hospital. In 1991, they moved to Finley, ND, and then to Fargo in 1994. She was currently working at the bridge company’s toll booth.
Faith is survived by her husband, Donald, Fargo; two children, Carl (fiancé Jennifer Schlotman), Carrington, ND, and Donald, Fargo; two brothers, Steven (Lynnette) Berg, Bisbee, and Raymond (Patty) Berg, Newport, MN; and two sisters, Lois (Freddy) Wood, Jamestown, ND, and Cindy (Robert) Jones, Brainerd, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 8 p.m., in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Wahpeton, ND.

Coster, Sister Lucy

Sister Lucy Coster, age 100, a member of the Sisters of the Presentation, Fargo, died February 24, 2004, in the infirmary at Sacred Heart Convent, Fargo.
Sister Lucy was born in Attica, IL, on August 2, 1903, one of a second set of twins born to Theophil and Mary Coster. Mary and Minnie were the first twins, Emil and Emily, as Sr. Lucy was named, followed and they had four younger brothers and sisters - John, Florence, Louise, and Charles. Sr. Lucy’s parents came from Holland in the 1890s and eventually settled in the Red River Valley on the banks of the Sheyenne River on land that is now in the city of West Fargo.
In the early 1900s when Sr. Lucy was growing up, the children helped with the work on the farm and attended school in the winter months. When she was 18, she lived with a family and cared for their two children before beginning work at the rectory of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo.
Sister Lucy entered the Order of the Presentation Sisters at Sacred Heart Convent in 1925 and made her first Profession of Vows in 1928. She celebrated her Golden Jubilee of 50 years as a professed religious in 1978, and her Diamond Jubilee of 75 years in 2003.
Sister Lucy worked in food preparation for 35 years at Sacred Heart Convent, St. John’s Orphanage, and at the Bishop’s Residence, all in Fargo, and in facilities in Langdon, New Rockford, and Carrington, ND. She then worked as the laundress at the Convent and at Riverview Place for another 35 years. After her retirement from active ministry, Sister spent her time in long hours of prayer and in the creation of beautiful afghans and tatted crosses, many of which she donated to St. Ansgar’s Hospital in Park River and to Cardinal Muench Seminary.
Sister Lucy is survived by the members of her religious community, her brother Charles in the state of Washington, her sister Louise Goulet in the state of Arizona, nephews Richard and George Coster and Robert and Jerry Kritzer, and nieces Virginia Quiggle and Delores Kritzer. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, brothers Emil and John, and sisters Mary (Sr. Annunciata), Minnie Matthys and Florence Kritzer.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 25, from 4-8 p.m. at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Convent. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Presentation Sisters Foundation.

Smith, Donald

The funeral of Donald W. Smith, Fargo, will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Fargo. There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday in Boulger Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery, Fargo. Donald died Tuesday, February 24, 2004.
Mr. Smith was born in Mitchell, SD, on October 20, 1917, and lived with his parents, Eleanora and Frank Smith in Lane, SD. At an early age, he moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where he attended public school and graduated from Nettleton Business College.
Prior to World War II, he joined the U.S. Army Air Force and was stationed in Langley Field, VA. During the war, he was stationed in Puerto Rico. He was discharged as a first lieutenant in 1945, and returned to Sioux Falls, SD, with his wife, Marie S. Smith.
Mr. Smith was employed in wholesale distributor sales, and later with a finance company in Fargo. In 1965, he started Cabinets, Inc., a home remodeling business in Fargo. In 1970, he was awarded accreditation as a “Certified Kitchen Designer, ” a degree developed by the University of Illinois for the American Institute of Kitchen Dealers. Cabinets, Inc. Was discontinued in 1982 when Mr. Smith retired. He was later employed as Customer Service Manager at the Scheels south side store.
Mr. Smith attended North Dakota State University, and was active as a master gardener. He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and Hawley Golf & Country Club. He was an active member of Holy Spirit Church where he sang in the choir for more than 20 years.
Mr. Smith is survived by his sons, Donald (Jackie), Horace, ND, and John, Apple Valley, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, and sister, Doris Starnes of Sioux Falls, SD.

McDunn, Lorraine "Sally"

Lorraine “Sally” Cossette McDunn, 78, died at home surrounded by her loving family on February 21, 2004. She was born in Fargo on November 3, 1925 to William and Cecelia (Amberg) Lord. She attended school at St. Anthony’s and went on to graduate from St. Mary’s on the Mount in Helena, MT. She married
Daniel Cossette July 31, 1946 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo, ND. They lived in Wild Rice, ND where they owned and operated the Wild Rice Bar. They owned and operated a number of businesses in the Fargo and West Fargo area until moving to Pelican Rapids, MN. Her husband Daniel died in 1976. She worked at Swann’s Café until her retirement. Later on, Sally married
John McDunn. After John’s death, she moved to West Fargo and enjoyed being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Sally was very loving and caring to all who knew her. She was a fun-loving person who enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, crossword puzzles, soap operas and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Esther, Orron, Ione, Llewellyn, Genevieve, William, Ervin; both spouses, and her grandson, Chad Witt.
She is survived by her children, Susan Marie Oien, of West Fargo, Debby Lynn (Doug) Moszer, of Fargo, Karen Jo Witt, of West Fargo, Daniel Leopold Cossette, Jr., of California, Barry Neal (Sandra) Cossette, of Detroit Lakes, MN, Donna Lou (Marc) Knutson, of Hawley, MN, and Robert Ellsworth, of Klamath Falls, OR; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and sisters, Rosella Gluck, of Minnesota and Alvina Wahlstrom, of Arizona.
FUNERAL: 11:00 am Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo.
VISITATION: 5:30-8:30 pm Monday, February 23 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
PRAYER SERVICE: 8:30 pm Monday at Boulger Funeral Home. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday, February 24, 2004.

Imogene L. Fitzpatrick

Imogene Lenore Fitzpatrick, age 72, of Fargo, died on Saturday, February 21, 2004, at Elim Nursing Home in Fargo.
Imogene Sullivan was born on August 26, 1931, the daughter of Francis and Sarah (Burke) Sullivan, in Berlin, North Dakota. She grew up in this area and graduated from Edgeley High School in 1949. She continued her education at St. Alexis School of Nursing in Bismarck. Imogene was united in marriage to H. James Fitzpatrick on July 25, 1953, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo. They made their home in Fargo where they raised their family. He died on July 20, 1988.
Imogene is survived by her loving children, James Fitzpatrick of Fargo; Teresa (Robert) Mejillas of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Susan (Michael) Rowe of Platteville, Wisconsin; Jane (Dr. Joel) Schock of Fargo; and Amy Fitzpatrick; and her grandchildren, Matthew and Jamie Mejillas; Scottie and Charlie Rowe; and Lisa, Sarah, and Joel J. Schock. Also surviving are her brother, John (Dottie) Sullivan of Newport News, Virginia; and her sisters, Mary Kay (Steve) Gorman; Pat Phillipp; and Gerry (Bob) Schoener, all of Fargo; and several nieces and nephews.

Fox, Clement "Murphy"

Felton, Minnesota
Clement Fox, commonly known as “Murphy”, age 85, of Felton, Minnesota, died on Friday, February 20, 2004, at his farm home near Felton, assisted by the care of Hospice.
Clement was born on June 13, 1918, the son of Michael Leo and Sophia (Stasak) Fox, in Pembina County, North Dakota. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school District #17, known as the Fox School. After completing his education, he worked various jobs in North Dakota and in California until his induction into the United States Army with Company D, 164th Infantry Regiment, American Division. North Dakota’s 164th Infantry was the first American Army Unit to see offensive action during World War II when they landed on the Island of Guadalcanal on October 13, 1942, a turning point battle in the South Pacific Theater. Clement was a Sargent in charge of a machine gun platoon, also serving in Bounganville and the Philippine Islands. After his discharge in August of 1945, he returned to North Dakota. Clement was united in marriage to Jessie R. Porter in 1947, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In 1952, they moved to Felton, where they lived and farmed for many years. Clement also drove school bus for nearly 20 years for the Glyndon/Felton School District, retiring in 1985. He continued to live on their farm and kept very active with many hobbies, including entertaining family and friends at his lake cabin on Cormorant Lake. Clement was a member of the Felton American Legion, and served many years on the township board of Flowing Township.
Clement is survived by his children, Bonita (David) Lindseth of Rugby, North Dakota, Rita Fox and her partner, Katie Whiteford of New Hope, Minnesota, and Tim (Marleen) Fox of Hawley, Minnesota; grandchildren, Christopher Lindseth, Christina Hoang, Calina Lindseth, and Jesse Fox; step grandchildren, Misty, McKenzie and Mike Smith; great granddaughter, Raime Hoang; and his sister, Vivian Tang of Moorhead, Minnesota. Also surviving is his special friend, Karen Berg, and her family; his brother in law, Louie Bertrand; and sisters in law, Janet Fox and Ann Fox; and many nieces and nephews.
Clement was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jessie; and his siblings, Cecil Fox, Marie Schulz Bertrand, and Kenneth Fox.

Sorenson, Ethel

Ethel Sylvia Sorenson died peacefully at her home in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Friday morning, February 13, 2004, one month after her 95th birthday.
Ethel was born January 13, 1909 to Thorvald and Marie Odegaard at the farm in rural Hickson, North Dakota where she grew up and attended grade school. She married
Clarence, C.O., Sorenson of rural Davenport, North Dakota on May 3, 1930. Ethel and Clarence farmed at Davenport all their working life, briefly farming outside Moorhead, Minnesota from 1944 to 1950.
Ethel belonged to the Davenport Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Bethany Homes Auxiliary where she did volunteer work for over twenty years.
Preceding her in death was her husband Clarence (July 21, 1996) and three sisters, Gunda, Dagne and Viola, three brothers, Melford, Melvin and Lloyd. She is survived by two great grandchildren, Brynlie and Kyle Helmich and her granddaughter, Adra Sorenson Helmich (Erich) of Cave Creek, AZ, her grandson Aric Sorenson of Minneapolis, MN, her son Curtis Sorenson and his wife, Marilyn, of Scottsdale, AZ.
An Arizona memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Pinnacle Presbyterian Church, Friday afternoon February 20th with a summer service at the Davenport Lutheran Church in North Dakota, the date to be announced.

Tracy, Thomas

Thomas P. Tracy, age 63, Fargo, died peacefully in his home on Tuesday, February 17, 2004.
Tom was born to Edward and Josephine (Opheim) Tracy on March 6, 1940, in Perley, MN. He grew up and attended school there, graduating from Hendrum High School in 1959. He graduated from the auto mechanics program at Thief River Technical College in 1961. Tom was united in marriage to Louise Schmidt in Ada, MN, on October 2, 1965. They made their home in Fargo. Tom worked for several car dealerships in the area - Mac Johnson in Perley, Al Olich in Borup, MN, and for Tom Muscatell, Jay Davis, Ralph Thomas, and Tim Corwin in the Fargo/Moorhead area. He retired in 1988 due to his health.
Tom enjoyed working with any vehicle that didn’t run quite right. He was a member of Valley Vintage Car Club and looked forward to any car show or outing the club took part in.
He is survived by his wife, Louise of Fargo; one daughter, Theresa of Fort Lauderdale, FL; one son, Mike (Jodi) of Wolverton, MN; and four granddaughters, Allexis, Morgan, Elise, and Neve Tracy. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Bakko of Fargo; three brothers, Dorrance “Kim” (Yvonne) of Page, AZ, Henry “Hank” (Michelle) of Palmdale, CA, and John “Jack” (Jan) of Perley; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Church of the Nativity, Fargo. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery, Fargo.
