Antoinette “Toni” Aasness, 93, Glenfield, N.D., died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Golden Acres Nursing Home, Carrington, N.D. Antoinette Ann Dietrich was born Nov. 30, 1914, near Cartwright, N.D., the daughter of Anton F. and Julia A. (Ihli) Dietrich. She grew up on the family farm near Carpenter Lake, Rolette County, North Dakota. She attended school in St. John, N.D. She worked at the San Haven Sanitarium near Dunseith, N.D.

Catherine Grahn, 72, Neenah, Wis., formerly of Spiritwood, N.D., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton, Wis.
Steven Rosendahl Sr.
Steven Corey Rosendahl Sr., 50, Aberdeen, S.D., formerly of Jamestown, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen, after a battle with colon cancer. Mr. Rosendahl was born Oct. 9, 1957, at Mayville, N.D., the son of Harold and Irene (Monson) Rosendahl. He grew up in the Finley-Cooperstown, N.D., area and graduated from New London-Spicer High School in 1976.

Charlotte Struxness, 75, Carrington, N.D., died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Carrington Health Center, Carrington. Charlotte Skeldum was born Sept. 21, 1932, in Woodworth, N.D., the daughter of Andrew and Helen (Thompson) Skeldum. She grew up and attended school in Woodworth.
Hilda Buchholz
Hilda Buchholz, 81, Lehr, N.D., died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Wishek Community Hospital, Wishek, N.D. Hilda Miller was born March 13, 1926, in Napoleon, N.D., the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Steiger) Miller. She grew up and attended rural school and attended Napoleon High School. She married Luther Buchholz on Oct. 6, 1947, in Napoleon.

Sophia Lillian Lang, 98, Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of the Jamestown and Cleveland area, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Lancaster Manor Nursing Home in Lincoln.
David Scheen
David L. Scheen, 47, Valley City, N.D., died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Innovis Health, Fargo, N.D., after a short battle with cancer. Mr. Scheen was born July 6, 1960, in Kensal, N.D., the son of Leslie and Lillian (Pierce) Scheen. He grew up and attended elementary school in the Bordulac, N.D., area, and graduated from Carrington (N.D.) High School in 1979. He served in the North Dakota National Guard from 1980 to 1983. He joined the U.S. Army in 1983. He was honorably discharged in 1994.

Vivian Loraine (Dillard) Joos
Vivian Joos, 81, of Wimbledon, ND, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2008 in Palm Springs, CA. She is survived by husband Allan, daughters Alana Joos and Janna Joos of Palm Springs, a son Robert and (Daly) Joos of Wimbledon and her sister Geraldine Behnke of Bacliff, TX. . Vivian was born in Tyler, TX. She was working as a telephone operator in Corpus Christi when she met her future husband Allan. They were married on March 30, 1949.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Charity Lutheran Church in Bismarck, with Rev. Robert Nordvall officiating.
Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in rural Streeter, ND.

Georda “Jo” Schaefer was born Nov. 21, 1925, near Rogers, N.D., the daughter of George and Minnie (Zaun) Schaefer.
She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City.
She attended school at the Matteson School, Stewart Township, near Rogers.
She worked at the Red Owl and Red and White Grocery Stores, both Valley City, after attending school.

Eileen Mattern, 90, Billings, Mont., formerly of Jamestown, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Liggett Cottage on the Campus of St. John’s Lutheran Home, Billings.
Anna Sylfest
Anna Sylfest, 101, LaMoure, N.D., died Monday, March 10, 2008, at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure.
Anna Virginia Saufley was born Nov. 16, 1906, in Port Republic, Va., the daughter of Starless and Laura Saufley.
They moved to South Dakota in 1910.
They moved to a farm near Berlin, N.D., in 1920.
She graduated from LaMoure High School, LaMoure, in 1924.
She then attended summer school and taught in one-room schools for many years.
She married Sigfred O. Sylfest on Feb. 1, 1930. He died Nov. 27, 1954.
She moved to St. Rose Care Center in September 2007.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, LaMoure.

Ernest Wraalstad, 99, Jamestown, North Dakota died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.
Ernest was born November 25, 1908 in Corinne township, near Courtenay, ND, the son of Christian and Gertrude (Erickson) Wraalstad.
He received his education in rural schools in Corinee township and the Courtenay area
Vonda Lee Erbele
Vonda Lee Erbele, age 65, departed this earthly life to meet her Lord on March 24, 2008 in Billings, Montana.
She fought a year-long, courageous battle with brain cancer.
Vonda was born on February 7, 1943, in Harvey, ND, to Raymond and Alice (Kraft) Lautt.
She spent her early days on a farm near Harvey growing up with an older brother JuDean and a younger brother, Darnell.
As a child, Vonda contracted Rheumatic Fever and was bedridden for over a year.

Mary Ann Brickner, 92, New Rockford, N.D., formerly of Carrington, N.D., died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford.
Victoria Story
Vickie Story of Warroad, MN passed away on March 23, 2008 in rural Warroad at the age of 63.
Victoria Luella Story was born on April 5, 1944 in Littlefork, MN to Dorothy (Runyon) and Carl Stenquist.
She attended elementary school in Littlefork, and later high school in International Falls, MN.
She moved to Warroad in the early 1960’s and worked for many years as a nurses aide at the Warroad Care Center.
Vernon Schock
Vernon Clyde Schock, 72, Ashley, N.D., died Saturday, March 22, at Triumph Hospital, Mandan, N.D.
Mr. Schock was born Dec. 27, 1935, near Ashley, the son of Fred W. and Annetta (Kempf) Schock.
He grew up and attended country school while working on the family farm.
