Lillian Teslow, 96, formerly of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
Lillian Stensgard was born to Halvor and Annie Stensgard in rural Rollag, Minnesota. She was one of 11 children and grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools in that area. Lillian Stensgard married
Earl Berg in 1925. He preceded her in death in 1952. Later Lillian married
Kenneth Teslow and he preceded her in death in 1988. She loved gardening, and was a very talented musician, playing the guitar, piano, and organ. Lillian was preceded in death by one son, E.D. Todd Berg.
Lillian is survived by her granddaughter, Jamie (and husband Dr. Joseph) Marcil, Virginia Beach, VA; triplet great granddaughters, Jennifer, Christine, and Meagan; two great grandsons, Joseph and John Todd; and many nieces and nephews
Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Eventide Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead
Visitation: one hour before the funeral in the chapel
Burial: Springvale cemetery, Fargo

Roden, Vivian

Vivian Rosalie Roden, age 97, died April 2, 2003, at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND.
She was born on May 24, 1905, to Herbert and Estella Ellis, in McHenry County, ND. She attended school in Casselton, and taught at a country school in Sharon, ND. She married
Stewart Roden at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Fargo, in 1925. They celebrated 57 years of marriage, the births of six children, and the adoption of their daughter, Dona. They lived in Duluth, Minnesota, for over 20 years until Stewart died in 1982. Vivian then moved to Fargo where she has lived since.
Survivors include Virginia (Edward) Merrill, Moorhead, Phyllis (Tom, Sr. deceased) Sornsin, Fargo, Donald (Doreen), Bismarck, David (Mary Ann) and Susan (Robert) Thomson, both Duluth, and Dona Sara, Seattle, Wash. She enjoyed her 27 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stewart; and her infant son, baby Stewart.
Vivian loved presiding over her large family and all the new babies. She taught a love of the outdoors to all. She cherished the time spent researching and writing her family history. Vivian loved to travel and always had her suitcase packed. She was an active member of the D.A.R. Organization.
Funeral: 1:30 PM Saturday, April 5, 2003, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Casselton, North Dakota
Visitation: 4-5 PM Friday at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo; and one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Saturday
Burial: St. Leo’s Catholic cemetery in Casselton.

Medler, Bernadine

Bernadine Mae Medler, 64, Jamestown, ND, formerly of Fargo, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, in Jamestown Hospital.
Bernadine Dwyer was born May 20, 1938, in Fargo. Her family and friends lovingly gave her the nickname Bunny as a young child. Bunny grew up and attended school in Fargo. As a young woman Bunny enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. She married
Gary Medler on January 7, 1966, in Fargo. They were the parents of a daughter, Ellen. In 1978, she moved to Jamestown.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Watson, Redwood Falls, MN; her parents, Clyle and Helen Dwyer, Fargo; one brother, Greg (Vicki) Dwyer, Fargo; and 10 sisters, Teresa (John) Rieniets, Claudia (Steve) DuBord, Maureen (Roger) Cook, Yvonne (Ralph) Nordick, Deanna (Red) Scheer, Mary Chezick, all of Fargo, Colleen (Duaine) Hillstad, Moorhead, Janet (Jeff) Tennison, Dilworth, Terri (Keith) Lauer, Bismarck, and Pauline (Donny) Noon, Wilton.
She is preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Wright.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in Church of the Holy Spirit, Fargo. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery, Fargo.
Spidahl, Lois

Lois A. Spidahl, West Fargo, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Manor Healthcare in Fargo.
Lois A. Gjevre was born on March 4, 1931 in Fargo. She grew up in Starkweather, North Dakota where she attended school and graduated as Valedictorian in 1949. She then attended Minot State Teacher’s College, after which she taught at the Royal Township School, rural Starkweather, ND. Lois A. Gjevre and Benjamin Spidahl Jr., were married
in Minot, ND, on January 21, 1950. They lived in Minot until 1952 when they moved to New Town, ND, where she was a homemaker until she and her husband opened and operated the Skogmo Store. In 1964 they moved to Parshall where they operated the Gamble Skogmo Store until 1972. They then moved to New Rockford, ND, where Lois worked for the Super Valu Store until retiring in 1997. They came to West Fargo in 1997. Bennie preceded her in death in December of 2002.
She is survived by her children, Margo (Jerry)Thiel, Cody, WY, Keith (Sandra) Spidahl, Fargo, and Rodney “Rod” Spidahl, Issaquah, WA; four grandchildren, Heather and Korre Spidahl, and Melissa Payton and Kip Thiel; three great grandchildren, Jerri Thiel, and Benjamin and Edward Payton; sisters, JoAnn (LeRoy) Toso, Sr., Starkweather, ND, and Judy (Roland) Nygaard, Starkweather, ND; and brother, Gary Gjevre, Devils, Lake, ND.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeremy Thiel.

Nelson, Nennor

The Funeral Service for Nennor Nelson will be held 11 AM Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Norway Lutheran Church rural Cummings, North Dakota. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 5 PM in Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Thursday. Burial will be held in the Norway Church cemetery. Nennor died on Monday, April 7, 2003, at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo at the age of 78.
Nennor was born on July 20, 1924, at Taft, North Dakota, the son of Nennor and Julia (Johnson) Nelson. He attended school in Norway Township and graduated from Hillsboro High School. He married
Dorothy Kamphaug Ramberg on April 5, 1952. He served in the United States Navy, followed by service in the National Guard.
They farmed for 28 years in the Cummings area. In 1974 they bought the Coast to Coast store, later changed to Trustworthy Hardware. They retired in 1992. Nennor was a member of Norway Lutheran Church, rural Cummings. He was also a member of the Eagles and the Sons of Norway.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alvin and Marvin; his son, Michael; and one great grandchild, Logan Renner.
Nennor is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy of Hillsboro; his sons, Jim of Chaska, Minnesota; and Richard of Bowman, North Dakota; his step daughters, Diane (Gary) Weber of Fargo; and Sherry (Harold) Bodden of Binford, North Dakota; ten grandchildren; and five great grand children. He is also survived by two sisters in law, Cecelia Nelson of Hillsboro; and Nancy Nelson of Cummings.

Nelson, Mary

Mary A. Nelson, 45, Fargo, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Rosewood on Broadway.
Mary A. Nelson was born to Bill and Grayce (Dougherty) Nelson on October 15, 1957, in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She came to Fargo as a young girl and attended St. Anthony of Padua Elementary School. Mary graduated from Shanley High School in 1976. Mary A. Nelson married
John Thorseth at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo on June 4, 1977. They moved to Boise, Idaho, in 1979. Mary returned to Fargo in 1989. She has been battling with cancer since December of 2002 and died amongst her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her parents, Bill and Grayce (Dougherty) Nelson, Sun City Center, Florida; daughter, Annie M. Thorseth, Fargo; son, Eric Fink, Florida; sister, Beth Skagen, Fargo; sister, Kim (Jay) Eisenbeis, Fargo; brother, Pat Nelson, Richville, MN; brother, Mike (Debbie) Nelson, Dilworth, MN; sister, Abby (Tony) Rheault, Fargo; sister, Maggy (Scott) Brace, Lakeville, MN; and brother, Pete (Stacy) Nelson, Minneapolis, MN; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Funeral: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo.
Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m. Friday, Holy Cross Catholic Church, West Fargo

Martell, Richard

Richard L. Martell, 57, 405 South University Drive, Fargo, died on Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, as a result of a fire in his home.
Richard was born September 28, 1945, at Belcourt, ND. He grew up at Drake, ND, and West Fargo, ND. The family moved to Wild Rice, ND, in 1950. He attended school at Wild Rice and Fargo. Richard attended Hanson Mechanical School in Fargo, and worked for area auto repair dealers.
He married
Mary Eileen Harper in November 1965. They were divorced in September 1969. He married
Marilynn Olson in September of 1974. They later divorced.
Richard was disabled for many years. He had assisted his sister, Alice, to promote services and programs for the disabled and their families.
He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Dixon (John), Glendale, WI, and Sherri Fermanich (Barry), Middleton, WI; his mother, Helen Hill; a sister, Alice Hill both of Fargo; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Wild Rice, ND. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Tuesday in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Benedict’s cemetery, Wild Rice.
