Tyler Eggen
Tyler M. Eggen, 83, Fargo, ND, formerly of Dilworth, MN, died Friday, December 19, 2003, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fargo.
Tyler Milford Eggen was born May 19, 1920, to Engebret and Mary (Mennis) Eggen in Litchville, ND, where he grew up and graduated from high school. Tyler served in the US Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946. On May 19, 1951, he married
Winifred Stanley Hall in Glyndon, MN, and they made their home in Dilworth. Tyler worked for Burlington Northern Railroad from 1937 to 1980. Winifred died in March of 1968 and Tyler continued to make his home in Dilworth until becoming a resident of the Elim Pioneer House, Fargo, in 2000.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Richard) Stenberg, Perham, MN; two sons, Robert (Alyce) Hall, Janesville, WI, and Stan (Tina) Eggen, College Station, TX; a brother, Eldred Eggen, Fargo; ten grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Lozier "Bonnie" Bonawitz
Lozier Earl Bonawitz, known as Bonnie, was born August 29, 1925, to Raymond and Agnes (Nelson) Bonawitz in Greenbush, MN. The family moved when he was an infant to the Fargo-Moorhead area where he grew up and received his education.
During WWII, he served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 and was stationed in the South Pacific. After his discharge he returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area. On March 27, 1948, Lozier was married
to Grace Bradley in Fargo.
Lozier was a partner in Woodard and Bonawitz, Moorhead, where he did painting and decorating. In 1957 he started his own business, Bonawitz Furniture Refinishing, which he sold to his son in 1975. He remained active in the business as well as buying and selling antique furniture and antique furniture repair until Nov. of 2002. Lozier died Friday, December 19, 2003, at VA Medical Center, Fargo, at seventy-eight years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Grace, Moorhead; a son, Dale, Moorhead; a brother, Harold (Joyce), Moorhead; a sister, Betty (Wallace) Grund, Fargo; two grandchildren, Jessica Erickson and Stephanie Bonawitz; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline, Adam, and Ingrid. His parents, three sisters, Darlene, Ruth, and Marie; and three brothers, Alvin, Lester, and Raynold preceded him in death.

Janice Cruz
Janice I. Cruz, 66, Fargo, ND, died Friday, December 26, 2003, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, surrounded by her family.
Janice Ione Hunemuller, daughter of Erwin and Nora (McDaniel) Hunemuller, was born July 24, 1937, in Elliot, ND, where she grew up and graduated from high school. Janice attended Dakota Business College in Fargo. She later worked for several years at St. John's Hospital, Fargo, as a nursing assistant.
Janice was united in marriage to Joseph Cruz on September 24, 1958, in Moorhead, MN. Janice became a devoted mother of five children. The family lived in Moorhead, California, and eventually made their home in Fargo.
Janice worked as an A.M. Cook at Bethany Homes, Fargo, from 1982 to 1997. She raised canaries, collected Harp seals, and loved the color pink, especially pink carnations. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
Janice is survived by one son, Timothy (Rose) Cruz, Morgan Hill, CA; four daughters, Stephanie Hendrickson, Roberta Cruz, Dawn (Paul) Schares, and Carlotta Cruz, all of Fargo; nine grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters, Richard (Evelyn) Hunemuller, Albuquerque, NM, Vonna (Andrew) Hopkins, Albuquerque, Donna Hopkins, Albuquerque, Dale (Lele) Hunemuller, Glendive, MT, and Norrine Laughlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Rose Hermann
Rose Marie Hermann was born July 19, 1924, to Leopold and Flora (Cossette) Brunelle, in Wild Rice, ND, where she was raised. Rose attended schools in that area and graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Benedict, ND.
On January 7, 1947, Rose married
Andrew L. Hermann in Fargo, ND, and they made their home on their farm near Georgetown, MN. Andrew died January 16, 1980, and Rose continued to live in Georgetown until moving to Moorhead in 1986. Rose died Tuesday, December 2, 2003 in her home under hospice care, surrounded by her family.
Rose is survived by six daughters, Mary (Ernest) Normandin, Crookston, MN, Karen Hermann and Barbara (Mark) Thompson, both Moorhead, Patricia (Bernard) Audette, Cambridge, MN, Rose Hermann (Rick Thomas), Egland, ND, and Jean (Deon) Walton, Felton, MN; six sons, Jerome (Linda), Georgetown, Michael (Sheila), Dubuque, IA, Charles (Sharon), Grand Forks, ND, William (Mary) and Richard (Lisa), both Moorhead, and Thomas (Brenda), St. Thomas, ND; twenty-three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Zwack and Bea (Bob) Thomas, both Fargo, and Marcy Robinson, Bismarck, ND; and one brother, Raymond (Maryann) Brunelle, Colorado Springs, CO. There were many lives touched by her generosity, and Rose will live on in our hearts and memories as a loving, generous, intelligent, compassionate, courageous mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who loved to laugh and sing. She was a caregiver and continued to give until she went home to be with her Heavenly Father.

William Johnson
William E. “Billy” Johnson, age 54, of Fargo, ND, died in rural Glyndon, MN, on Wednesday, Dec. 3. 2003.
William Earl Johnson, known as Billy, was born on September 21, 1949, in Moorhead, MN. He was the son of Stanley and Vi (Dankert) Johnson. Billy grew up in Glascow, Montana, where he received his education.
In 1966, Billy returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver and was a member of the North Dakota Army National Guard.
On April 3, 1976, Billy married
Diane Kramer in Fargo. They made their home in Fargo, and Billy continued to work as a truck driver. He was currently driving for Strata Corp., which is a local sand and gravel company.
Billy is survived by his wife, Diane, Fargo; a son, Stanley, Fargo; two daughters, Roberta (Josh) Olson and Nicole (Shannon) Fiedler, both Fargo; a grandson, Zach Olson; two brothers, Clifford and Timothy; and two sisters, Carol (ElRay) West and Karen Johnson, both Seattle, WA.
Visitation: Sunday, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, and one hour before the funeral, at the church.

Marie Johansen
Marie Johansen was born January 25, 1915, in rural Moorhead, MN, to Gustav and Marie (Anderson) Johansen. Marie attended rural schools for her education and attended Moorhead Normal School.
Marie worked as a housekeeper for a number of families in the Moorhead area but returned to help with the family farming operation south of Moorhead. She entered Moorhead Healthcare Center in February of 2001 where she died Friday, December 12, 2003, at eighty-eight years of age.
Marie is survived by one brother, George (Lucille) Johanson, Moorhead; and one sister, Anna Swanson, Moorhead. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Corrine, Marie, Myrtle and Gladys; and one brother, Olaf.

Morris Johnson
Morris V. Johnson, 86, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Morris was born January 14, 1917, near Hawley, MN. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School. He served with the 26th Infantry, 1st Division in World War II from 1942 – 1946, and took part in the liberation of Nuremberg.
Morris married
Irene Benson on February 17, 1951, and they made their home in Fargo. He was employed by Midwest Motor Express for 38 years, retiring in 1983. During his career, he was recognized by Time Magazine in 1970 as North Dakota Driver of the Year.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Jay (Michelle), Rosemount, MN; two daughters, Jackie (Brian) Jones, Fargo, and Julie Johnson, Moorhead, MN; one sister, Lillian Hart, Moorhead; six grandchildren, Jocelyn Olson, Kendra Olson, Dena Jones, Domenic Jones, Brie Johnson, and Emily Johnson.
A daughter, Debra Ann; his parents, Albert and Gurine (Reierson) Johnson; two brothers, Arthur and Larry; and one sister, Gladys Wilson, preceded him in death.

Margaret Larson
Margaret I. Larson, age 92, died on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND.
Margaret Irene Larson was born at Perley, MN, on June 14, 1911. She grew up and received her education in the Perley-Hendrum, MN, area. She later attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.
Margaret taught school for two years in Lancaster, MN. She lived in Minneapolis, MN, where she worked as a bookkeeper at the Atwood Larson Company. She later returned to Moorhead, where she worked for Minneapolis Moline in their Fargo office for 17 years, and for A & T Supply Company in Moorhead. Margaret retired in 1976.
Following retirement, she continued to live in Moorhead. In May of 1998, Margaret became a resident of Bethany Homes in Fargo, where she had lived since.
She is survived by a nephew, Darrell (Victoria) Johnson of Stillwater, MN.

Gertrude Pederson
Gertrude I. Pederson, age 85, Fargo, ND, died on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Gertrude Irene Kibler, the daughter of Florentine M. and Emma (Moengen) Kibler, was born at Mayville, ND, on June 17, 1918. She grew up and received her education in Mayville. She graduated from high school and also received her teaching certificate from Mayville State Teacher’s College. Gertrude taught in a rural school near Clifford, ND, and at Drayton, ND.
On July 14, 1946, Gertrude was united in marriage to Norris Pederson, at Mayville. In 1947, they moved to Fargo, ND. Gertrude taught for one year at West Fargo, ND, and then in Moorhead, MN, where she taught in Park, Edison, and Riverside elementary schools. Gertrude received additional college courses and her bachelor’s degree from Moorhead State University. She retired in the early 1970s.
Her husband, Norris, died on Aug. 21, 1989. After his death, she continued to live in Fargo. In the spring of 2003, Gertrude became a resident of Bethany Homes in Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris; her parents, a sister, Anna Dahl; and three brothers, Marvin, Francis and Elmer Kibler.
Gertrude is survived by three sisters-in-law, Maybelle Kibler and Helen Simongard, both Mayville, and Marion Kibler, Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; and by five Kibler nieces and nephews.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral.

Louise Speyers
Louise Fandetta Simon, the daughter of Dr. John and Jennie Mae (Hawley) Simon, was born at Kintyre, ND, on June 25, 1916. She grew up in Kintyre and in Napoleon, ND, where she graduated from high school in 1935. Louise attended First Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, in Chicago, IL.
On March 11, 1937, Louise married
Alphonse W. Loehrer, at Chicago. They lived in Chicago until 1945, when they moved to Napoleon, and farmed. Louise taught at a rural school in the Napoleon area for a year. Alphonse died on May 1, 1953. After his death, Louise moved to Iowa City, IA, to live for a year.
Louise married
John “Jack” Speyers on December 16, 1954, at Napoleon. They farmed near Napoleon. In 1975, they moved into Napoleon, and in 1977, moved to Fargo, ND.
Since coming to Fargo, Louise had been active in the “Senior Companion” program. Jack died on Oct. 21, 1982. After his death, she continued to live in her home on South University Drive in Fargo.
In September of 2003, Louise F. Speyers became a resident of Manorcare Health Services in Fargo. She died there on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at the age of 87. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, John S. Loehrer; a stepdaughter, Delores Meade; an infant sister, Edith Simon; and brothers Frank and Roy Simon.
Louise is survived by two daughters, Jennie (Charles) Rousu, Fargo, and Jane (Myron) Hammer, Kathryn, MN; three stepdaughters, Norma Thomas, Kellogg, ID, ElRose Marie (Bill) Hallock, Jamestown, ND, and Carol Altman, Nashville, TN; two stepsons, Lyle W. Hazer, Brookings, SD, and Antone “Tony” Speyers, Jamestown; two brothers, Dr. Stuart (Judy) Simon, Norman, OK, and Dr. Ray (Esther) Simon, Sun City, CA; a sister-in-law, Clara Simon, Napoleon; 33 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter by affection, Shirley Thielbar, Fargo.

Donald Sturm
Donald E. Sturm, 68, Fargo, ND, died Thursday, December 11, 2003, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Donald Edward Sturm, son of Edward and Lillian (Huseby) Sturm, was born in Ada, MN, on September 13, 1935. He attended grade school in Borup, MN, and later graduated from Ada High School. Donald worked for many years for several Fargo – Moorhead auto dealers as an auto mechanic.
Donald was united in marriage to Carol Underwood in Moorhead in 1960. The couple made their home in Moorhead. Donald later made his home at the New Life Center and the Fargo High Rise, both Fargo.
He is survived by one daughter; Dianna (Mark) Gagner, Casselton, ND; one son, Donald Sturm, Jr., Beaver Lake, WI; three brothers, Allan D. (Isabelle) Fargo, Robert (Orinne), Seattle, WA, and Gerald (Kathy), Dilworth, MN; one sister, Donna (Earl) Coleman, Virginia Beach, VA; one foster sister, Laverne (Chester) Rudd, Ada, and four grandchildren.
