Eleanor M. Tesch
Eleanor M. Tesch, age 79, Fargo, ND, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Bethany Homes in Fargo.
Eleanor Marie Kennedy was born in Lewis, Iowa, on November 30, 1925. She moved to Illinois, where she graduated from high school and from The University of Illinois. In 1947, Eleanor married
Willard J. Tesch Jr. They lived in Rifle, Colorado, and in 1956, they moved to Denver, CO. Eleanor taught English in high schools in Colorado. Her husband, Willard, died in 1995.
In December of 2003, Eleanor moved Fargo, and lived in Bethany Homes until her death.
Eleanor is survived by two sons, John (Catherine) Tesch, Fargo, and Richard (Nancy) Tesch, Napa, CA; a sister, Mary Olson, Denver; and three grandchildren.
Service: No public services will be held.
Dorothy Thornton
Dorothy Eliza Ernestine Dobereiner, the daughter of Lorenz and Dina (Olenkamp) Dobereiner, was born in Robinson, ND, on November 3, 1914. As a young child she moved with her family to the Syre-Ulen, MN, area, where she grew up and received her education. Dorothy confirmed her faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley, MN.
On September 13, 1934, Dorothy was united in marriage to Franklin H. Thornton, in Syre. Following their marriage they farmed in the Flom, MN, area. In 1939, they moved to a farm near Syre, and in 1941, moved to the “Dobereiner” family home farm, where they farmed until the fall of 1966.
In 1966, the family moved to Bismarck, ND, where Dorothy worked as a housekeeper in private homes and for many years at the Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing. She retired in 1978, and she and Franklin moved to Fargo, ND, to live. In her retirement, Dorothy shared her love of music and musical talent by playing piano and entertaining at many local retirement and nursing homes.
Dorothy died at Meritcare, South University Drive in Fargo, on Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin, who died on March 17, 1985; her parents; and a sister, Florence Hirchert.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Frances “Dolly” Monson, Fargo; two grandchildren, Mark Monson, Tacoma, WA, and DiAnn Thompson, Fargo; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Joshua) Rankins, Melanie Murschel and Danté Schwarting; two stepgreat-granddaughters, Rachel Riedl and Rebecca (Jason) Almer; five great-great-grandchildren, Parker and Kaden Rankins, Diandra Riedl, Dallas Castner, and Destiny Riedl.

Daniel Trevino
Daniel M. Trevino, 21, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in Innovis Health, Fargo, ND.
Daniel Marcos Trevino, son of Enrique and Lilly (Sanchez) Trevino, was born November 21, 1983, in Moorhead, MN. He worked as a phlebotomist at PRACS Institute in Fargo.
Daniel is survived by his parents, Enrique and Lilly Trevino; his beautiful daughter, Hannah, age one, whom he cherished; one brother, Michael Trevino, Dilworth, MN; and many friends and family members. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his older brother, Henry Trevino, Jr., who died February 12, 2001.

Harvey Turner
Harvey H. Turner, 87, Moorhead, MN, died Monday, April 4, 2005, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Harvey Herbert Harry Turner, the son of Harry and Elise (Thiel) Turner, was born Oct. 22, 1917, on the home farm in Section 2, Mary Township, Norman County, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church now Grace Lutheran in Ada, MN. After graduating from Live Wire Country School, rural Ada, he worked on the home farm until Nov. 6, 1941, at which time he entered the US Army, and served in the South Pacific. In April of 1942, he landed in Australia. Harvey took part in campaigns in New Guinea, Biak Island, and the Philippines. He received the Purple Heart on June 23, 1944, the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and three Battle Stars. After he was honorably discharged on May 19, 1945, he went to work for the US Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service in Norman County, MN. He transferred to Clay County in April of 1946.
On August 8, 1953, Harvey was united in marriage to Esther E. Krabbenhoft in Sabin, MN. The couple made their home in Moorhead, MN.
He retired from the Soil Conservation Dept. in June of 1973, and then started work with the Clay County Highway Department as maintenance supervisor in July of 1973. He retired in April 1980. Esther died in 2003.
Harvey was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead, where he served on the Board of Trustees, finance and elders. He was also a member of the Moorhead American Legion since 1945.
Harvey is survived by one brother, Raymond, Ada; two sisters, Erna Langseth, Fargo, and Alice Schenkey, Ada; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his wife, Esther; Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl Turner.
Visitation: Wednesday, April 6, 2005, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Thursday, April 7, 2005, at 10:30 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Dorothy Van Zante
Our special Dorothy, a woman of valor, a wife, mother, grandma, and best friend, went home to be with the Lord on February 20, 2005, in Fargo, ND, at the age of seventy-five.
Dorothy Hamre was born June 27, 1929, in Leonard, ND. She grew up in Leonard and Enderlin, ND, through her Sophomore year in high school. The family then moved to Fargo and Dorothy graduated from Central High School.
Dorothy attained a business degree from business colleges in Fargo. She then moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she worked as a supervisor in the IBM Dept. at Linkbelt for several years.
Dorothy was united in marriage with Marvin R. Van Zante on October 30, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. Dorothy’s love for children captivated her and she cherished her roles as a wife, mother, grandma, homemaker, foster care and daycare ‘mama’, and best friend to many. She was involved in church as a volunteer, a prayer group member, and a Red Hat Club member.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin, Fargo; two daughters and two sons, Deborah Doran (Don), Breckenridge, MN, Kevin Van Zante, Fargo, Denise Tift (Neil), Stillwater, MN, and Kelly Van Zante, Battle Lake, MN; three grandchildren, Corey, Andrew, and Hannah; and a brother, Eugene A. Hamre, Fargo.

Elmer F. Wagar
Elmer F. Wagar, age 89, of Fargo, ND, died on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at MeritCare South University Drive in Fargo.
Elmer Franklin Wagar was born in rural Forest River, ND, on February 7, 1915. He grew up and received his education in the Forest River area. As a young man he farmed near Forest River and then for one year in Roseau, Minnesota.
On May 27, 1941, Elmer was united in marriage to Hazel R. Johnson, in Valley City, ND, where they made their home. Elmer worked in a local grocery store and a grain elevator before he was employed by Barnes County Co-Op Creamery for more than 30 years. He later worked at Mercy Hospital in Valley City until he retired in 1980.
After retirement, Elmer and Hazel continued to make their home in Valley City. In December of 1999, they moved to Fargo to live. In March of 2003, they both became residents of Bethany Homes in Fargo. Hazel died on August 28, 2003.
Elmer is survived by three daughters, Nancy (August) Jantzon, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Barbara (Bill) Romer, Omaha, NE, and Nadine (Jim) Van Dyke, Valley City; two sons, Mark (Judy) Wagar, West Fargo, ND, and Timothy (Robin) Wagar, Asuncion, Paraguay; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Wagar; and a sister, Pearl Bowman.
Visitation: Friday, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, and one hour before the funeral, at the church.
Funeral service: Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at 2:00 PM, MeadowRidge Bible Chapel West Fargo, North Dakota.
Burial: Memory Gardens, Valley City, ND.
Gene W. Wagar Jr.
Gene Willis Wagar Jr., was born September 29, 1951, to Gene and Barbara (Kauk) Wagar Sr., in Grand Forks, ND. He grew up in Halstad, MN, where he graduated from high school. After high school, Gene attended Mayville State University, Mayville, ND, for a short period of time. He then began to work at American Crystal Sugar, where he worked for thirty-two years.
On February 15, 1986, Gene married
Erlys J. Moore in Perley, MN, and they made their home in Dilworth. Gene became a proud parent with the birth of his son, Benjamin, that same year.
Gene served on the Dilworth City Council and was president of the Dilworth Lions Club. He was treasurer of the Lions District 5 M-11, and was a Melvin Jones award recipient. He was an active member of Dilworth Lutheran Church, serving as treasurer and on the church council. Gene was also an Eagle Scout.
Gene died Monday, January 3, 2005, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Paul, MN, at the age of fifty-three. Gene enjoyed snowmobiling, auto racing, engine building, and AMC muscle cars. He also loved to travel. Gene was not afraid of hard work and was always willing to help anyone, anytime. He never sought recognition for his accomplishments and unselfishly worked behind the scenes.
Gene is survived by his son, Ben, Bemidji, MN; his parents, Gene Sr. and Barbara, Halstad; two sisters, Judy Wagar, Minneapolis, MN, and Jodi (Paul) Baumgartner, Harwood, ND; three brothers, John (MaryJo), Fargo, ND, Bob (Anna), Lafayette, LA, and Rick (Kristy), Fargo; special friends, Erlys J. Moore, Bemidji, and Delores Moore, Dilworth; many nieces and nephews; and a grandnephew. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Erich Wagar.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 6, 2005, from 5 – 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, Dilworth Lutheran Church.
Funeral will be on Friday, January 7, 2005, at 11 AM, Dilworth Lutheran Church.
Burial will be at Riverside cemetery, Moorhead
Donald E. Wenell
Donald Edwin Wenell, 54, of Fargo, ND went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 1, after many miraculous victories in his battle with cancer.
Don was born on March 28, 1951 to Arnold and Mary Wenell and grew up on a farm in Laurens, Iowa. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age and was confirmed in the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City, IA.
He graduated from Laurens High School in 1969. While attending Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, he met and married
his wonderful wife Cindy Armstrong on August 28, 1971. He graduated from Iowa Sate University in Agriculture Education in 1973, after which he taught high school in Estherville, IA for one year. His career in Production Credit Association started the following year when he became Branch Manager in Pocahontas, IA, followed by his years as Branch Manager in Rockwell City, IA. He was then promoted to the position of President of Production Credit Association in Grand Island, NE in 1982. God continued to bless his career when he moved into the position of President of First Bank in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1985. He and his family moved to Fargo, ND in 1992 when he became the CEO of Fargo/Moorhead Ag Country.
Although Don was blessed in his career, he was even more blessed with his wonderful wife and four children. He loved time with his family only second to the love he had for our Lord. He always looked forward to making wonderful memories with his family and throughout his life, he most enjoyed spending time with them at the lake cabin.
He and his wife Cindy were regular attendees at Bethel Evangelical Free Church. In his recent years of his battle with cancer, he enjoyed every opportunity to share about God’s love and grace in his life, God’s blessings, and God’s miraculous ways.
Don is survived by his wife, Cindy, and his four children and three grandchildren, including children Heidi (Brent) Foster, Minneapolis, MN; Jennifer (Jason) Billman, Ham Lake, MN; Jason (Shanelle) Wenell, Bloomington, MN; and Matt Wenell, at home; and grandchildren Brayton Foster, Halle Foster, and Jaden Billman. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Wenell, Laurens, IA; his brother, Doug (Sue) Wenell, Laurens, IA; and his sister, Kathy (Stuart) Wenell-Nesbit, Eau Claire, WI. Don was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Wenell, in 1997.
Family and friends enjoyed Don’s positive attitude and energetic spirit, and most appreciated him for his unwavering faith. He always had a smile on his face and a word of encouragement for those around him.
An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held at Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fargo, on Saturday, September 3, followed by internment on Sunday in Laurens, Iowa. Memorials are requested to the Caringbridge.org or Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo.
