Velma S. Cartwright
Velma S. Cartwright, 94, of Cando, ND died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Cando, ND. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim Vorlage, with interment in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, Cando. Vocalist will be Peggy Hendrickson.
Visitation will be held for one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
Velma S. Cartwright, the daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth (Shock) Cartwright, was born April 26, 1910 in Zion Township of Towner County, ND. She was raised near Cando and attended Hardwheat School. While living on the farm, Velma was active in the Zion Brethren Church and the Zion Homemakers. Velma took care of her parents and had moved with them into Cando in 1948. She became a member of the United Methodist Church of Cando and its Women's Society and also taught Sunday School in both churches. Velma had worked at the Cando Drycleaners, drove grain truck and was a charter member of the Cando Arts Council. She was always generous of her time in the community and is remembered for driving people around town in her Chevrolet, "Charlie." Velma was an organizer, enjoyed crocheting, wildflowers and walks in pastures.
Velma is survived by her brother, Francis S. Cartwright of Midland, MI and 18 nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Willard and Herschel; her sisters, Ruby, Florence Anderson and Erma Westlind and her nephew.

Inez Eppler
Inez Eppler, age 85, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at Elim Care Center in Fargo
Inez G. Sandeen was born Oct. 27, 1920 near Hawley, MN, where she grew up and attended school. On Feb. 5, 1946, she married
Alvin Eppler, and they had three children, Gary, Cheryl and Ronald. They lived in Moorhead, MN, where she had many jobs. Her favorite one was at Concordia College, as supervisor of students in food service. She enjoyed all the students she got to know every year, with several returning to see her.
Alvin and Inez enjoyed being with their grandchildren, being outdoors and fishing. Her husband, Alvin, died on August 30, 1994. Inez moved into Elim Care Center in 1997, due to Alzheimer’s.
Inez is survived by her daughter Cheryl “Cherie” and her husband, Roger, Jaeger, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Muggli, Miles City, MT, Jeffrey Jaeger, Seattle, WA, Michelle Jaeger, Grand Forks, ND, and Angela Eppler, Richmond, VA; a sister, Violet Skarphol, Pelican Rapids, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, her sons, Gary and Ronald; sisters, Myrtle Haugen, Mabel Haugen and Pearl Kragerud; and brothers, Arnold Sandeen and Clayton Sandeen.
Visitation: Tuesday, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, and one hour before the funeral, at the church.
Funeral service: Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at 10:30 AM, in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Hawley cemetery, Hawley, MN.
Donald E. Erickson
Donald E. Erickson, 74, Fargo, ND, died peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, March 4, 2005, in Villa Maria, Fargo, after a courageous battle with Alzheimers.
Donald Eugene Erickson, son of Oscar and Crystal (Selig) Erickson, was born April 12, 1930, in McLeod, ND, where he grew up and attended school. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1952, after which he moved to Fargo.
Donald was united in marriage to Beatrice “Pat” Jacob, on February 20, 1959, in Fargo, where the couple made their home. Donald worked for Northwest Beverages, Inc., Fargo, as an over – the - road truck driver, retiring in 1992. He entered the nursing home in 2002.
Don greatly enjoyed a good card game with his family, friends and neighbors and a good game of pool in his neighbor’s garage.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice “Pat”, Fargo; a daughter, Roxann (Curtis) Larson, Moorhead, MN; a son, Rodney (Jeni), Fargo; two grandchildren, Riley and Tanner Larson; one brother, Harlyn (Flora), Beloit, WI; three sisters-in-law, Bernice (Vernon) Whaley, Moorhead, Thelma (Bud) Schaeffer, Bismarck, ND, and Evelyn Jacob, Kindred, ND; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Villa Maria, Hospice of the Red River Valley, Pastor Smelzer, and a special thanks to Vern and Bernice for all their support during this difficult time.

Mary Ann Ellis
Mary Ann Ellis, 95, Fargo, ND, died Monday, July 4, 2005, in Bethany Homes, Fargo.
Mary Ann Ellis was born November 4, 1909, in Minneapolis, MN. Her mother and father died when Mary Ann was very young and she was raised in Moorhead, MN, where she lived with her uncle.
Mary Ann graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College and taught in the Moorhead school district from 1949 to 1975. She also taught in Georgetown, Lake Park, Hawley and Bagley, MN.
Mary Ann retired but continued to make her home in Moorhead until she entered Bethany Homes, Fargo, in 1993.
Mary Ann left no immediate family but she is survived by the many students she taught over the years and the difference she made in their lives through her selfless love, dedication and commitment to education.
Visitation: one half-hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Funeral Mass: Monday, July 11, 2005 – 8 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
Burial: St. Joseph’s Catholic cemetery, Moorhead.
Reinhold "Reinie" Eisenbeis
Reinhold “Reinie” Eisenbeis, the son of Adolph and Mary (Schwartzwalter) Eisenbeis, was born November 16, 1919, on a farm near Streeter, ND, where he grew up and received his education. He also attended Bottineau (ND) College of Forestry. On November 21, 1946, he was united in marriage to Ruth Seher, in Jamestown, ND.
Following their marriage, Reinie and Ruth lived in Streeter for five years. In 1951, the family moved to the Lockhart, MN, area where they farmed for 30 years. He retired in 1989. In 1981, they purchased a home in Moorhead, MN, where they resided during the winter and they spent their summers in the Lockhart area. Reinie was a member of First Lutheran Church of Lockhart, the board of Coachmen Condo in Moorhead, and various farm organizations. He was in partnership with Arvid Benson in several different ventures in a number of states.
Reinie died Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Martha Taylor; and two sisters-in-law, Annie and Janice Eisenbeis.
Reinie is survived by his wife, Ruth, Moorhead; a daughter, Roxie Benson of Fargo and Mike Benson; two grandsons, Brian (Jenni Stock) Benson and Jason (Nicole Lomsdal) Benson, both Moorhead; three brothers, Wesley Eisenbeis, Bismarck, ND, Harry (Arlene) Eisenbeis, Hillsboro, ND, and Bob Eisenbeis, Lincoln, CA; and four sisters, Ann (Tony) Schaffner, Sacramento, CA, Hulda (Art) Berg, Lodi, CA, Amy (Darrel) Moser, Fargo, and Onie (Jim) Nenow, Sacramento.

DeWayne A. Dronen
DeWayne Dronen went to be with his Savior on Wednesday, October 19th 2005. DeWayne was born in Cleveland, ND, on March 30th 1928, to Olga and Mallius Dronen. The family later moved to Jamestown, ND, where he graduated from Jamestown High School.
DeWayne served his country in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948. DeWayne married
Lillian Moser on November 7th 1954, in Jamestown.
DeWayne and Lillian moved to Fargo, ND, in 1964. DeWayne worked as a furniture salesman in the Fargo area for over 40 years. At the time of his death, DeWayne was working for Love-It Furniture, Fargo.
DeWayne loved his Lord with his whole heart and served his Lord as an usher at First Assembly of God in Fargo. DeWayne delighted in spending time with his wife and family and was known for his wonderful sense of humor. DeWayne had a servant’s heart and was always helping friends and family with whatever need arose.
DeWayne is survived by his wife, Lillian, Fargo; one son, Randy (Tammy) Dronen, Moorhead, MN; three daughters, Marsha Bartos and Vickie (Randy) Ward, both Fargo, and Tammie Berg, Hillsboro; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Jay (Betty) Dronen, Jamestown; and two sisters, Eunice Farthing, Jamestown, and Lillian Carroll, Minneapolis, MN.
Visitation for DeWayne will be Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, from 6 – 8 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. The funeral will be Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at 2 PM, in First Assembly of God, Fargo. Burial will follow in Riverside cemetery, Fargo.
Mina L. Dittes Whittenberg
Mina Mae (Dittes) Whittenberg, 87, Fargo, ND, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, in Innovis Health, Fargo.
Mina Mae Waters was born May 17, 1917, on a family farm north of Robinson, ND, to William Henry and Elsie Elora (Wayne) Waters. Mina was the second of six children: one boy and five girls. Mina was raised in that area and graduated from Robinson High School. She attended Dickinson (ND) State College. Mina worked in the post office as well as Security State Bank in Robinson. She also worked in the Kidder County Extension office in Steele, ND.
Mina worked in various jobs in Medford, OR, and Walla Walla, WA. One was being an inspector for Libby Canning Company. Mina felt anyone from North Dakota could get a job during the depression years, because she felt they had a reputation for being good workers. In 1939, Mina moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she worked as a department head for F.W. Woolworth Company on Nicollett Avenue.
Mina married
William Henry Dittes Sr., in St. Cloud, MN, in 1942. One son, William Henry Dittes Jr., was born. After living in Tennessee, Iowa and several Minnesota cities, including New York Mills, Mina moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1962. She worked for nine years in the Fargo Camp Fire Girls office. She was also an independent sales supervisor for Shaklee Corporation.
In 1965, Mina married
Dr. David Whittenberg, in Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead. She joined her husband as a Chiropractic Assistant, and received the “Distinguished Service Award” from the MN Chiropractic Association for outstanding service and dedication to the chiropractic profession. In December 2001, Mina became a Tahitian Noni International distributor. They moved to Colorado Springs, CO, in 2002, but returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area in November 2004.
Mina is survived by her husband, David, Fargo; son, William Dittes Jr., Fargo; one granddaughter, Dawn Marie Cossette, Crookston, MN; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Alyssa Goelzer, Crookston; and three sisters, Orpha Jean Neustel, Beulah, ND, Bertie Leigh Compaan, Norton, KS, and Elora Ann Kaufman, Fargo. In addition to her parents, Mina was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald; and a sister, Lettie Marie.

Funeral: Monday, March 7, 2005 at 2 PM, in Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Fairview cemetery, Robinson, ND.
Lorene E. Dietz
Lorene Esther Dietz was born September 6, 1914, to Christian and Barbara (Heil) Dietz in Elgin, ND, and she grew up on a farm outside of Elgin. Lorene moved with her parents to Bismarck, ND, where she was a resident of the Baptist Home for thirty years. In November of 1995, Lorene moved to Fargo, ND, to be close to her sister and she became a resident of Elim Care Center.
Lorene died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Lorene was a sweet and beloved member of the family. She enjoyed crafts, especially making hooked rugs, and would often give the crafts she made to family members. Lorene enjoyed laughing and having fun. She was especially fond of animals and children. Although she was hearing impaired, she was very independent and did many things on her own.
Lorene is survived by her sister, Stella Emery, Moorhead, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Ernest and Rayfield.
