Mable Forbes

Mabel L. Forbes, age 99, of Moorhead, MN, died Friday, March 12, 2004, at MeritCare Hospital, South University Campus, in Fargo, ND.

Mabel L. Quandt, the daughter of Albert and Katherine (Klossner) Quandt, was born on April 23, 1904, at rural Klossner, Minnesota. Mabel grew up and received her education in the Klossner area. She graduated from high school in Winthrop, MN, and received her teacher’s training at a college in Mankato, MN. Mabel taught school in rural schools in southern Minnesota.

On May 28, 1927, Mabel was married to Thomas Smith Forbes at Hopkins, MN. In 1932, the couple made their home in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan, Canada, where they lived until 1943. They lived for a short period of time in Burlington, Iowa, and then moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1945. After Mr. Forbes retired in 1979, Mabel and Thomas lived at their lake home on Lake Lizzie, and later moved to Detroit Lakes, MN.

Thomas died on May 26, 1995. Following his death, Mabel returned to Moorhead. She first lived at Heritage Villa and later at The Evergreens. In addition to her husband, Mabel was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon; her parents, and a sister, Constance.

Mabel is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Howard) Howe, Mandan, ND, and Donna (Wayne) Moll, Moorhead; a son, William (Dagne) Forbes, Barnesville, MN; a brother, Allan (Roberta) Quandt, LaRonge, Saskatchewan, Canada; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Services and burial for Mrs. Forbes will be private

ElRoy Fick

ElRoy G. Fick, 75, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, February 5, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.

ElRoy George Fick, son of Roy and Florence (Steinweg) Fick, was born March 5, 1928, at Leonard, ND. ElRoy grew up and received his education in rural Cass county. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1946 and served in Guam. After his discharge in 1948, he made his home in Fargo.

ElRoy was united in marriage to Margaret Armstrong at Arthur, ND, on June 4, 1950. ElRoy worked at Pierce Trailer Park, Moorhead and later Horvick Electric, Moorhead. In 1952, the couple moved to Moorhead. ElRoy loved woodworking and hunting. He was also a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

ElRoy is survived by his wife, Margaret, Moorhead; three sons, David (Jane) Fick, Fargo, Timothy (Laila) Fick, Phoenix, AZ, and Thomas (Carolyn) Fick, Hood River, OR; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Adeline D. Erickson

Adeline D. Erickson, age 82, of Fargo, ND, died on Friday, April 23, 2004 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo.

Adeline Dorothy Hoeper was born on June 3, 1921 at Shelly, MN. She grew up and received her education in Stephen, MN.

On October 17, 1942, Adeline was united in marriage to Arthur O. Erickson. Following their marriage they lived in Karlstad, MN, and in Moorhead, MN. In 1960, they moved to Warroad, MN, where Adeline worked in a bakery and a clothing store.

In about 1974, the couple moved to Fargo. The couple lived for a short period of time in Brainerd, MN, and then returned to Fargo. Adeline and Arthur were residents of the Fargo high rise for more than 20 years. Adeline did extensive volunteer work, especially at the high rise.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur, Fargo; two daughters, Karen (David) Johnston, Warroad, and Barbara (Donald) Adams, Sartell, MN; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Adeline was preceded in death by a daughter, Arlet Landin; her parents, Nicholas and Dorothy (Rasmussen) Hoeper; a grandson, Jerome Johnston; a sister, Gladys Brubakken; and a brother, Nicolas Hoeper.

Memorial service: Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at 2 PM Chapel of First Lutheran Church, Fargo, North Dakota.

Beatrice Bruckner

Beatrice Clarice Ulland was born April 26, 1919, to Edward and Julia (Fiskum) Ulland, in Mayville, ND. She grew up in Fargo, ND, and graduated from Fargo Central High School. On March 30, 1940, she married Adolph J. Bruckner in Moorhead, MN, where they made their home. Beatrice worked as a nursing assistant at Dakota Hospital, Fargo.

Adolph died on October 11, 1988. Beatrice became a resident of Elim Care Center, Fargo, in 2001, where she died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at the age of eighty-five.

Beatrice enjoyed animals, and playing canasta and checkers. She made and sold lefse and was an excellent quilter, winning second place at the Cass County Fair for a quilt she made. She loved to eat ice cream and her grandchildren have many fond memories of eating ice cream cones with her while sitting on the porch.

Beatrice is survived by a son, David (Marilyn) Bruckner, West Fargo, ND; a daughter, Elizabeth Kress, Fargo; a sister, Helen Netzer, Naperville, IL; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Including her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.

Inurnment: Riverside cemetery, Fargo, ND

Gladys S. Bertrand

Gladys S. Bertrand, 68, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Gladys S. Bertrand was born April 24, 1935, in Fargo, to Gilbert and Helen (Raaen) Hagen. She was raised in the Fargo-Moorhead area where she attended school.

Gladys married Jerome J. Bertrand, June 13, 1952, in Park Rapids, MN, and they made their home in rural Moorhead until they moved to Georgetown, MN, in 1974. Gladys moved to Fargo in 1985 where she has since lived.

Gladys is survived by her two sons, Joseph J. (Kelly) Bertrand, Casper, WY, and Louis W. (Maria) Bertrand, Georgetown; one daughter, Rozanne (Calvin) Rector, Karlstad, MN; nine grandchildren, Kimberly, Christopher, Kyle, Cassity, Heather, Jeremy, Kayla, Travis and Ryan; and two brothers, Louie (Arla) Hagen, and Gilmer Hagen, both Moorhead.

Visitation: Friday, January 9, 2004; 6 – 8 PM Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead

Funeral: Saturday, January 10, 2004; 10:30 AM Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead

Burial: Riverside cemetery, Moorhead

Bonnie Baron

Bonnie J. Baron, 60, Fargo, ND, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, in Villa Maria, Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Bonnie Joy Hanson was born July 17, 1943, to Elroy and Frances (Nelson) Hanson in Hallock, MN. She grew up and graduated from high school in Lancaster, MN. After high school, Bonnie moved to Fargo and graduated from Josef’s School of Hair Design. On June 29, 1968, Bonnie married Arthur Baron in Lancaster. They made their home in Fargo and Bonnie worked for Silverline Boats, Moorhead, MN. She also worked for Steiger Tractor and Solid Comfort, both in Fargo. Bonnie became a resident of Villa Maria in July of 2000. Bonnie loved camping, fishing, and arts and crafts. She also loved watching soap operas and thought butterflies, especially monarchs, were beautiful.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur, Fargo; two daughters, Wanda (Bruce) Stoddard, Farmington, MN, and Jennifer Baron, Indianapolis, IN; a brother, Dale (Sherry) Hanson, St. Vincent, MN; and a sister, Jane Laude, Denver, CO

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Dennis.

Visitation: One hour prior to funeral service

Funeral Service: Monday, April 12, 2004 - 11:00 AM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND

Agnes B. Swenson

Agnes B. Swenson, 91, of New Rockford, ND, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sheyenne, ND, with interment in the Grandfield cemetery, rural Sheyenne. Pastoral Intern Priscilla Hukki will officiate. Organist will be Eunice Throlson and vocalists will be Owen Swenson and Joanna Throlson.

Casket bearers will be Reed Weisenburger, Tashia Weisenburger, Allan Weisenburger, Erik Swenson, Luke Swenson, Kale Swenson, Zachary Davie, Jordan Davie, Emily Swenson, Evan Swenson, Connor Joseph, Bryden Swenson, Jadyn Swenson and Arnie Nyhusmoen.

Honorary bearers will be Agnes' family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m., all at Evans Funeral Home in New Rockford.

Agnes Belinda Nyhusmoen was born April 16, 1913, in Rock Township (Benson County) north of Sheyenne, ND, the daughter of Ole and Anna (Olson) Nyhusmoen. She grew up in Rock Township and attended school Plainview School #1. Agnes began working in people's homes in Sheyenne and New Rockford, ND. On Sept. 3, 1936, she was united in marriage to Fred Swenson at Sheyenne. They lived on the farm for 12 years, and then moved into Sheyenne. She worked at Ebenhahn Grocery and Salmonson Gambles Store at Sheyenne. Fred Swenson died Feb. 21, 1981. Agnes had enjoyed many trips to Norway.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church at Sheyenne, and had been confirmed at West Antelope Church. She was also a member of the Sheyenne 55 Club, Rock Township Homemakers Club and the Sheyenne Civic Club. Agnes enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and doing yardwork. She loved playing cards and doing needlework.

She is survived by one son, Mayo (Lois) Swenson of Sheyenne; six grandchildren, Dean (Sandy) Swenson of Sheyenne, Gail (Allan) Weisenburger of New Rockford, Ione Swenson of Fargo, ND, Neal (Liz) Swenson of Sheyenne, Nyla (Charlie) Davie of Big Sky, MT, and Owen (Janet) Swenson of Hallock, MN; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Glen; two brothers Sigurd and Ole; and two sisters, Gilma Logan and Signe Lee.

Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Davison

Donald Davison, 74, of Bismarck, ND, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at his home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at McCabe United Methodist Church in Bismarck.

Further arrangements are pending with Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service.

Pearl Halvorson

Pearl Halvorson, 85, of Cooperstown, ND, formerly of Tolna, ND, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003 at the Cooperstown Medical Center Nursing Home, Cooperstown.

Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, is in charge of arrangements.

Loretta Zwinger

Loretta Zwinger, 83, of Carrington, ND died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Sykeston, ND. Dr. Fr. Louden-Hans Wolfgang Flisk will officiate, with interment in the St. Elizabeth's Catholic cemetery.

Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, is in charge of arrangements.

Curtis Keith Talbot

Curtis Keith Talbot, 56, of Devils Lake, ND, formerly of McVille, ND, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, Minot, ND.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Rev. Jamie Desai will officiate.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all of his many friends.

Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Curtis Keith Talbot was born Jan. 10, 1947 in McVille. He was reared and educated in McVille graduating from McVille High School. He was baptized and confirmed in the McVille Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Janice Solberg on Jan. 13, 1968 in Lakota. They established their home in McVille. They lived in various places in North Dakota. He married Teri Raveling on July 13, 1985 in Williston, ND where they made their home. Curtis moved to Devils Lake in 1988 where he has since lived.

He worked at the Lake Region Corporation and also Target Roofing.

Curtis liked all outdoor activities including camping, fishing and boating.

He is survived by a son, Shane (Carol) Talbot of Jamestown, ND; daughter, Shari (Brian) Brase of Waseca, MN; grandchildren, Bridget, Ethan and Austin Brase; special friend, Jane Rurup; sisters, Sheila Stenson of Grand Forks and Toni (Gary) Monsebroten of Edinberg, ND; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, is in charge of arrangements.
