at 2 p.m. on July 21, 2001, at New Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church in Fayetteville with Elder Thelma Gause officiating.
The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie E. Fowler. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Herring and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Fowler.
The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Burns of Charlotte. The bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Washington and the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Burns.
The bride wore an off-white Moonlight gown accented with pearls, sequins and lace embroidery. The dress featured a chapel-length train. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and yellow roses in honor of her late mother. Her veil was off-white and attached to a rhinestone tiara.
The bride was escorted by her brother, William Fowler Jr. of Nashville, Tenn. The matron of honor was Joyce Johnson of Fayetteville. The bridesmaids were Andrea Fowler and Rachel Fowler, both of Nashville, Tenn.; Regina Crooms of Apex; and Eleanor Crooms of Charlotte. The flower girl was Amber Holmes of Nashville, Tenn. The ring bearer was Matthew Burns of Manassas, Va.
The best man was the groom’s brother, Stephen Burns of Charlotte. The groomsmen were George Fowler of Nashville, Tenn.; Frederick Scott of Boise, Idaho; and Travis Fowler and Desmond Johnson, both of Fayetteville.
The wedding was directed by Harold Allen Jr. The wedding musicians were Lois Butler, Tawanna Powell, Muriel Hall and Donna Manuel.
A reception was held in the church reception hall after the ceremony and was hosted by the bride’s brother, Willie Fowler Jr., and the bride’s sister, Marjetter Crooms.
The bride received her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her master’s degree in business administration from Fayetteville State University. She is a financial systems analyst with Integic Corp. in Chantilly, Va.
The bridegroom received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is an RTD with Federal Express Corp.
After a honeymoon trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple will live in Manassas, Va.

LUMBERTON — Cynthia McArthur of Rowland and Charles Kearney of Hope Mills were married
at 4 p.m. on May 26, 2001, at New Zion United Methodist Church. The Rev Leroy Worth officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Beatrice McArthur and the late Charlie McArthur. She is the granddaughter of the late Lizzie and Lawson McArthur and the late Athrea and Robert Yates.
The bridegroom’s parents are Evelyn Kearney and the late James Kearney. He is the grandson of the late Julia Kearney Stokes and Albert Kearney.
The bride wore a white, silk gown embedded with sequin lace around the sleeves, waist and hemline. Her veil was of crystal beaded silk. The groom wore a black tuxedo with tails, white vest and bow tie.
The bride was escorted by her brother, Lawrence McArthur. The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Bonnie McSwine. The bridesmaids were Gracie Stephens, Krystal Newton, Barbara Mclaughin, Carol McArthur and Olivia Scriven. The bridesmaids wore golden silk chiffon gowns, gold elbow-length gloves and gold pumps to complement the yellow garden roses they carried.
The flower princesses were Gloria Vaught and Ayanna Etter. The bell chimer was Cameron Sanchez. The ushers were Betty Blanks, Elizabeth Love, Kendall Newton and Harvey Strong.
The best man was John Horne. The groomsmen were Reginal Davis, Keithan Newton, Walter Newton, Calvin Kearney and Clifton Bundick. They wore black tuxedos, gold vests and bow ties.
The wedding was directed by the bride’s sister, Brenda McArthur. The wedding musician was pianist Tammara Abernathy.
A reception was held at the Pine Crest Country Club in Lumberton after the ceremony. The reception was coordinated by the bride’s sister, Beaster Newton. Assisting were Mary Scriven, Wanda Davis, Sandra Ferguson and Vicky Hasty.
The family hosted the rehearsal dinner at the groom’s estate in Hope Mills. Mrs. Elizabeth Kirschling, a co-worker at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, hosted a bridal shower and dinner. The bride’s sister, Brenda McArthur, the bride’s mother and family and friends hosted a bridal luncheon. Also, Alice Clay, Gracie Stephens and Sandra Ferguson hosted a shower and dinner at Western Sizzling Steak House.
The bride is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina and Duke University in Durham. She is employed with Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The bridegroom graduated from the Community College of the Air Force at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama and attended Campbell University in Buie’s Creek. He is retired from the U.S. Air Force and is employed with IBM Corp. in Research Triangle Park.
After a honeymoon trip to Caesar’s Resort in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, the couple will live in Hope Mills.

at 11:30 a.m. on July 14, 2001, at the Fayetteville home of the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Furman Dee Warren. The Rev. Dr. James C. Cammack officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Susan Jean Shields of Fayetteville. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Furman Dee Warren of Fayetteville and the late Vincent Hooper Shields.
The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wayne Barnwell of Fletcher. The bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Barnwell of Arden and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Colca of Titusville, Fla.
The bride wore a Vera Wang champagne satin gown that featured a banded empire waist, bib-style top and an asymmetrical back wrap. She carried a nosegay of miniature white calla lilies surrounding a blue hydrangea flower. A blue butterfly was nestled in the in the flower and the flower stems were tied with raffia. The bride’s shoulder-length veil of crystal illusion was attached to a tiara of champagne pearls and crystals. She wore her mother’s pearls and carried a handkerchief her grandmother had carried on her wedding day.
The bride was escorted by her mother. The matron of honor was the bride’s friend, Amanda Gurganus Rutherford of Hermosa Beach, Calif. The best man was the groom’s friend, Mike Millett of Savannah, Ga.
The wedding was directed by Paula Jessup. The wedding musicians were bagpiper Bob Palmer, soloist Barbara Lawson and reception musician Patty Gibney.
A reception, hosted by the bride’s mother, was held in the garden immediately following the ceremony.
The bride is a graduate of Chatham Hall in Chatham, Va. She received her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Fayetteville State University.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Faith Christian School in Hendersonville. He is a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army with the 165th MI stationed in Germany.
After a honeymoon trip to Savannah, Ga., the couple will live in Darmstadt, Germany.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald “Doc” Nunnery of Stedman. She is the granddaughter of Mary Lou Rogers of Hope Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rogers of St. Pauls and the late Herbert Nunnery of Stedman.
The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lanford of Stedman. The bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lattimore Givens of Stedman and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lanford of Newburgh, N.Y.
The bride wore a Duchess satin strapless gown which featured a wide cuff at the bodice. The gown and the chapel-length train was trimmed in crystals, pearls and satin bugle beads. She carried a bouquet of white roses with periwinkle and lavender accents. Her veil included double layers of white tulle detailed with seed pearls.
The bride was escorted by her father. The maid of honor was the bride’s friend, Christelle Payne of Chapel Hill. The bridesmaids were Bree Smith of Wade, Kelly Beasley of Chapel Hill, Nikki Lockamy of Hope Mills and Amber Williams of Raleigh. The flower girl was Wyatt Smith of Wade.
The best man was the groom’s friend, Jake Rash of Blacksburg, Va. The groomsmen were Brian Williams and Trevor Cox, both of Raleigh, and Darick Williams and Blaine Nunnery, both of Stedman.
The wedding was directed by the bride’s aunt, Candy Beaver.
A reception, hosted by the bride and groom, was held at Castle McCulloch after the ceremony.
The bride is a graduate Cape Fear High School in Fayetteville and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is an account executive with North Carolina Press Services.

The bride received her bachelor’s degree from Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C., and a master’s degree from the State University of New York at Cortland. She is employed by the Cumberland County Schools as a PE/Health teacher at Southview Middle School in Hope Mills, N.C.
The groom received his bachelor’s degree from Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C. He is a machine operaitor with Kelly Springfield.
After a Caribbean cruise, the couple plans to live in Fayetteville, N.C.

The bride is the daughter of Suzanne W. Landis of Fayetteville and Bill Landis of Lubbock, Texas. The groom’s parents are Anne Wallace of Brookline, Mass., and Caleb Wallace of Sanibel, Fla.
The bride and groom entered the cathedral together. The maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Faye Landis of Youngsville.
The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsman was the bride’s brother, Billy Landis of Fayetteville.
The bride is a graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone. She is the community development coordinator of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Raleigh.
The groom is a graduate of Albright College in Reading, Pa., and Columbia University in New York City. He is the marketing manager with Nortel Networks in the Research Triangle Park.
