at 4 p.m. on June 16, 2001, at Hay Street United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. The Rev. Jan N. Hill officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Colonel (Retired) and Mrs. Johnnie Shaw of Fayetteville. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Henderson of Halls, Tenn.
The bride carried a bouquet of tropicana roses in loving memory of her grandfather, Walter Fixsen. She was escorted by her father.
The matron of honor was the bride’s friend, Natalie Stephens of Anniston, Ala. The bridesmaids were Kyle Smith of Wilmington, Del., and Kimberly Fortner of Baltimore, Md. The flower girl was Rachel Henderson of Lexington, Tenn.
The best man was the groom’s brother, Todd Henderson of Lexington, Tenn. The groomsmen were Mark Clinard of Portland, Ore., and Jim Hackett of Chicago, Ill. The ushers were Jack Camp of Halls, Tenn.; Chris Shaw of Fayetteville; Kelly Wylie of Ballwin, Mo.; and Bob McClurg of Atlanta.
The wedding was directed by Pat Paschal. Terry Jordan was the wedding organist.
A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at the Radisson Prince Charles Terrace Ballroom after the ceremony.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner in the Hodge Room of the Fort Bragg Officer’s Club on Friday, June 15. The bride’s father hosted a tour of the Airborne and Special Operations Museum for wedding guests at 10 a.m. on the day of the wedding. The bride’s parents also hosted a breakfast with the newlyweds on Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Chloe’s Restaurant at the Radisson Prince Charles.
The bride is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. She is a physician with the University of Chicago Hospitals.
The groom is a graduate of the University of Memphis, Tenn. He is a product manager with Wilson Sporting Goods in Chicago, Ill.
The couple will live in Chicago.

The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewelyn Clinkscales of Anderson, S.C. She is the cousin of Ida Clinkscales Johnson of Winston-Salem. The groom is the son of the late Maggie L. Lucas and the stepson of Berline Graham of Riegelwood.
The bride was escorted by her nephew, John Clinkscales Jr. of Detroit, Mich. The honorary escort was the bride’s son, James Chavis Jr. of Fayetteville. The maid of honor was the bride’s granddaughter, Chrystal Chavis Lee of Greensboro. The matron of honor was the bride’s daughter, Toni Chavis Sanchious of Charlotte. The bridesmaids were the groom’s daughters, Patricia Lucas Toliver of Charleston, S.C.; Frederica Lucas Santiago of Greensboro; Jennifer Lucas Moore of Atlanta; Mona Lucas of East Windsor, Conn.; and Evette Lucas Darbone of Baton Rouge, La.
The best man was the groom’s brother, Ottis Graham of Riegelwood. The groomsmen were the groom’s brothers, Jerry Graham and Sherman Graham, both of Council; the bride’s nephew, Jerry Clinkscales of Charlotte; the groom’s son-in-law, Robert Toliver of Charleston, S.C.; the bride’s cousin, Marshall Isom of Anderson, S.C.; and the groom’s grandson, Brandon Toliver of Charleston.
A reception, hosted by the bride and groom, was held for 250 guests at the Fort Bragg Officer’s Club immediately following the ceremony.
The bride received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, a master’s degree in education from N.C. Agricultural & Technical University in Greensboro, and a certification in guidance and counseling from N.C. Central University. She is a retired counselor with the Cumberland County Schools and is currently the executive director of Teen Involvement Projects Inc.
The groom is a graduate of Elizabethtown Training School. He attended U.S. Army Senior Warrant Officer’s College at the Unversity of Maryland and Troy State University. He is a customer service supervisor and trainer with J.C. Penney Co. in Fayetteville.
After a honeymoon trip to Nassau in the Bahamas, the couple will live in Fayetteville.

Mr. & Mrs. Stalvey
William R. and Rose B. Stalvey celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 28, 2001, with a vow renewal and reception at the Fellowship Hall of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville.
Mr. and Mrs. Stalvey were married
on July 14, 1951, in Munich, Germany. They have four children, Gladys Aulbach and Pattie Smith, both of Fayetteville, and Katherine Childers and Debbra Duckett, both of Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. Stalvey have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Their children were hosts for the reception. The family extends a special thanks to all those who helped make the occasion special.
Mrs. Stalvey retired as the inventory control manager with Eastern Turf Equipment Co.
Mr. Stalvey is a retired chief lab technician with the Public Works Commission and a retired first sergeant with the U.S. Army.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hurley W. Smith of Roseboro. She is the granddaughter of Hilda Gardner of Roseboro, the late Annie Gardner, the late Edison Gardner, the late Oleta Gardner, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Smith, all of Roseboro.
The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Jernigan of Harrells. He is the grandson of Blannie Hall of Harrells, the late Clarence Hall and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Jernigan, all of Harrells.
The bride wore a long white satin gown which featured a scoop neckline, tapered waist and short sleeves. The bodice and sleeves were trimmed with Battenburg lace, pearls and sequins. The skirt ended in a cathedral-length train of Battenburg lace, pearls and sequins. She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses and trailing orchids. Her veil of white tulle was trimmed with white satin piping and was held in place by white miniature roses.
The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, April A. Smith of Roseboro. The maid of honor was the bride’s cousin, Lisa Ann Shirley of Autryville. The bridesmaids were Heather A. Faircloth of Autryville and Lauren Caulder of Stedman.
The flower girl was Kristin Jernigan of Harrells. The ring bearer was Austin Drake of Hickory. The miniature brides were Sydney Smith of Roseboro and Savannah Jernigan of Harrells.
The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsmen were Robby and Bobby Jernigan, both of Harrells, and Arnold Smith of Roseboro. The honorary groomsman was Barry Graham of Warsaw.
The wedding was directed by Edna Melvin. The wedding musicians were Denise Hall, Evan Williams, Deanna Putchaconis and Ryan Williams.
A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held in the Beaver Dam Baptist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the ceremony.
The bride is a graduate of Cape Fear High School and Methodist College, both in Fayetteville. She is a graduate student at Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville.
The bridegroom is a graduate of East Bladen High School in Elizabethtown. He is self-employed by Tomahawk Trucking.
After a honeymoon trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple will live at Greensbridge Golf Course in Garland.

The groom is a graduate of Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville and East Carolina University in Greenville. He is an occupational and industrial safety specialist with Wyeth Vaccines in Sanford.
