Dede W. Hall and Thomas P. Lynch were married icon June 1 in the courtyard at University Methodist Church. The Rev. Bill Gattis officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

The bride received a bachelor’s degree from Pfeiffer College and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a real estate broker with The Home Team.

The groom received degrees from Kettering University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a payroll manager at Martin Marietta.

The bride was attended by maid of honor Anne Michelle Lynch of Atlanta, Ga., and matron of honor Maureen Bridget Lynch of Boston, Mass. (daughters of the groom).

Best man was R. Steven Morgan of Sanford, formerly of Chapel Hill.

A dinner reception hosted by close friends at 411 West restaurant followed the ceremony.

An autumn wedding trip through France and England is planned as well as a celebration and reception later in the year.

The couple will make their home in Carrboro.

Kathryn Mary Yount and Robert W. Dodson Jr.

Kathryn Mary Yount and Robert William Dodson Jr. were married icon June 19 at the Chota Falls Estate in Clayton, Ga. The Rev. Michael Lewis officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. William Jay Yount and Mary Rooney Yount of Chapel Hill. She has a doctorate in social demography and is a professor at Emory University.

The groom is the son of Barbara Dodson and Robert William Dodson of LaGrange, Ga. He has a bachelor’s degree in finance and is a computer programmer.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Matron of honor was the bride’s mother. Bridesmaids were Rohini Pande of Tokoma Park, Md., and Athena Tapales of New York City.

Best man was the groom’s father. Groomsmen were Alan Dodson of Newnan, Ga. (brother of the groom), J. Christopher Yount of Chapel Hill (brother of bride), William Van Cleef Yount of Chicago (brother of bride), Russ Dodson of LaGrange, Ga. (brother of the groom), and Carlos Corless and Bruce Howard, both of Atlanta, Ga. Ringbearer was Nathan Dodson, nephew of the groom. Flowergirls were Erin Rooney (niece of bride) and Miss Nikki Dodson (niece of groom).

A reception was held at Chota Falls Estate in the North Georgia Mountains.

Following a honeymoon in Istanbul and the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, the couple will live in Atlanta.

Robert W. and Patricia C. Chappell of Chapel Hill celebrated their 40th anniversary recently at a dinner party at the Angus Barn given by their daughter, Audrey C. Fletcher, and son-in-law, Major Timothy J. Fletcher, of Fayetteville. They have two grandchildren, Olivia Caroline and Robert Timothy.

They were married icon June 20, 1964, at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church in Raleigh.

The Chappells are high school sweethearts who graduated from Broughton in 1962. Robert Chappell retired after 33 years from IBM.

Tara Lynn Billingsley and John Robert Ball were married icon Sept. 28, 2003, at Woodend, the historic site of the Audubon Naturalist Society in Chevy Chase, Md. The bride’s father officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of the Rev. Michael and Judy Billingsley of Marietta, Ga. She graduated from American University and received a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, both in Washington, D.C. She is an energy security specialist at the Department of Energy in Washington.

The groom is the son of Anne and Jan Sassaman of Chapel Hill and John Ball and Preston Reynolds of Chicago, Ill., and Havre de Grace, Md. He graduated from Pomona College in Claremont, Calif., and received a master’s degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. He is an international program analyst at the General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C.

Matron of honor was Tamara Lynn Buck of Acworth, Ga. (sister of the bride). Flower girls were Kaitlyn Amanda Buck of Acworth, Ga. (niece of the bride), and Meredith Meixi Cropley of Richmond, Va. (niece of the groom). The groom was attended by his sister, Kristen Anne Ball of Richmond, Va. Ringbearer was Michael Thomas Buck of Acworth, Ga. (nephew of the bride).

A reception hosted by the couple and their families followed the ceremony at Woodend.

Following a wedding trip to Deep Creek Lake, Md., the couple lives in Washington, D.C.

The groom-elect graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001 and is a research assistant for Clinical Tools Inc. and a writer. A wedding is planned for Aug. 1 at Duke Gardens.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Duckworth of Oxford announce the engagement of their daughter Sara Meghan Duckworth to Shannon Greene Harward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lanny Steve Harward of Chapel Hill.

The bride-elect received a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a research associate with PPD in Research Triangle Park.

The groom-elect received a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He is a broker at ICAP Energy.

A wedding is planned for May 28 at the Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill.

The bride is the daughter of James A. and Barbara H. Keim of Ballwin, Mo. She received a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is pursuing a doctorate in English at UNC.

The groom is the son of Jeff and Patricia Goff Harper of Ruston, La. He received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La., and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is pursuing a doctorate in American History at UNC.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Maid of honor was Andei Williams of Carrboro. Matron of honor was Jaima Stowell Galfi of Bloomington, Ill.

Bridesmaids were Ashley Ducote of Ruston, La. (sister of groom), and Marcella Bondie of Chicago, Ill. Flower girl was Emma Claire Ducote, niece of groom.

Best man was father of the groom.

Groomsmen were Gregory Mattson of Little Rock, Ark.; Edward Ducote II of Ruston, La. (brother-in-law of groom); Bradley Bourgeois of Ruston, La.; Joel Linn of Dallas, Ga.; and Philip Bocock of Gainesville, Fla.

Following a reception at the Governors Club, the couple took a wedding trip to Peru in South America.

The couple lives in Carrboro.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Robert Richards of Chapel Hill. He is a graduate of Chapel Hill High School and Hampden-Sydney College, where he received a bachelor’s degree and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He is an investment representative with Edward Jones Investments in Chapel Hill.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Maid of honor was Mary Jane Gray Martin, sister of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Carrie Elizabeth Richards, sister of the groom; and Laura Anne Cone, Kristin Robertson Culver, Callie Maffett Glass, Courtenay Jarratt Groff, Meredith Amanda McGraw, Anna Kathleen McLeod, Natasha Walker Morgan and Elizabeth Boone Wilmes.

Best man was the groom’s father.

Groomsmen were Robert Vincent Martin IV, brother of the bride; and Christopher Mather Barnes, Spencer McLauchlin Brown, Matthew Cochrane-Logan, Gregory Steven Farish Jr., Michael Joseph Farfour, David Lee Fitch, Guy Thornton McBride III and Peter Michael McCoy Jr. A reception was held at the DeSoto Hilton Grand Ballroom.

A wedding trip was planned for Maui and Kaui, Hawaii.

The couple will live in Chapel Hill.

The groom is the son of Robert and Marilyn Krieg of Cheshire, Conn. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond and is a third-year law student at the University of Maryland School of Law. He is employed by the Baltimore County State Attorney’s Office.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Matron of honor was Beth Newmark Jones of Chicago, Ill. (sister of the bride).

Bridesmaids were Donna Lynn Bernstein of Portland, Ore.; Vanessa Leigh Giles of Bayonne, N.J.; Jill Christine Grigg of Atlanta, Ga.; Suzanne Alexis Hile of Charlotte; and Erin Rose Strimple of Orange, Calif. Junior bridesmaid was Brittany Lynn Daniel of Chapel Hill.

Best man was the father of the groom.

Groomsmen were Steven Douglas Newmark of Charlotte (brother of the bride); Matthew Thomas Proto of Wallingford, Conn.; Nathaniel John Rose of Arlington, Va.; Robert Daniel Weinberg of Baltimore, Md.; and Matthew Dreyer Worth of New York, N.Y. Ringbearer was Scott Randolph Newmark of Charlotte (nephew of the bride).

A reception at The Carolina Inn hosted by the parents of the bride followed the ceremony.

After a wedding trip to St. Thomas, the couple lives in Baltimore, Md.
