Matthew Philip Warren

CHAPEL HILL — Lori Lynn Hardy and Matthew Philip Warren, both of Chapel Hill, were married icon at 5 p.m. on June 16, 2001, at University United Methodist Church with the Rev. William H. Gattis officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Linda F. Hardy and Larry H. Hardy, both of Morehead City. She is the granddaughter of Frances H. Hardy of Danville, Va., and the late Laudric H. Hardy and the late Mr. and Mrs. James W. Frazier of Danville.

The bridegroom’s parents are Mrs. David C. Warren Jr. and the late Mr. Warren. The bridegroom also is the grandson of Ruth L. Phillips of Raeford, the late Charles W. Phillips and the late Mr. and Mrs. David C. Warren Sr. of Fayetteville.

The bride wore a a formal gown of white matte satin featuring a tip-of-the shoulder neckline. The bodice was embellished with re-embroidered lace accented with pearls and sequins. The bodice flowed into a simple princess A-line skirt. The same beaded lace trimmed the chapel-length train. The back of the gown was adorned with pairs of covered buttons cascading to the tip of the train. She carried a gathered bouquet of summer flowers designed by Charles House of Chapel Hill. The bouquet featured white roses, lavender freesia, bavardia, lilies and dendrobium orchids.

The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was Sarah P. Morris of Wilson. The bridesmaids were Lynn H. DeRosia of Morehead City, Diane M. Pescatore of Boston, Stacy A. Ratner of Raleigh, and the groom’s sister, Meredith C. Warren of Chapel Hill. The flower girl was Molly C. McDonough of Chapel Hill.

The best man was the groom’s brother, Michael D. Warren of Raeford. The groomsmen were Jonathan P. Tsipis of Elon College, Jason G. King and Thomas T. Sobel, both of Atlanta, and John H. Richards of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The wedding was directed by Anne Tyson of Chapel Hill. The wedding coordinator was Barbara Clark of Durham. The wedding musicians were organist Tim Baker and flutists Sarah Cooley, Michelle Grady, Sung-Hee Kim, Leigh Matthews, Dr. Ginger Sickbert, Dr. Bill Spencer and Sandra Woodward.

A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the mother and grandmother of the groom, was held at 7 p.m. on June 15, 2001, at The Carolina Inn Alumni Room in Chapel Hill.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at the Hope Valley Country Club in Durham immediately following the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In August, she will begin graduate studies for her MBA at Meredith College. She is loan officer with the State Employees Credit Union.

The bridegroom is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Radio, Television and Motion Pictures. He is the producer/director for corporate productions with Cline Friedman Inc. of Durham.

After a honeymoon trip to Jamaica, the couple will live in Chapel Hill.

Wayne Dale May

WINTERVILLE — Paula Lynn Webb and Wayne Dale May, both of Greenville, were married icon at 3 p.m. on June 16, 2001, at Rose Hill Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Harris officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde T. Webb Jr. of Fayetteville. She is the granddaughter of Elizabeth Webb of Fayetteville.

The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy May of Farmville.

The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Audra McLean. The bridesmaids were Elizabeth Jackson of Fayetteville, Sarah Lyde of Austin, Texas, Paige Warren of Charleston, S.C., Jennifer Gooch, Amy Rivera, Shannon Whaley and Krista Wainwright, all of Greenville. The honorary bridesmaids were Sarah Bullard of Fayetteville, Vera Benedetto, Debra Harrell, Una Irvin, Karen Jordan, Paige May, Bryant Nichols, Natasha Tew, Marley Ungaro and Paige Wade.

The miniature bride was Brooke McLean of Foxfire. The ring bearer was Brett Nichols of Winterville.

The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsmen were Dee Jackson of Fayetteville; Dwayne May, Kevin Wade and Dave Baker, all of Greenville; and Greg May, Lee Cash and Shane Nichols, all of Farmville.

The wedding was directed by Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Langley. The wedding musicians were soloists Brooke McLean and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Langley. Flowers were designed by Michael Morris of Greenville.

A bridesmaids luncheon, hosted by Mary Jackson and Becky Richling of Fayettevile, was held on June 15. A rehearsal dinner and dance, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held that evening at Ayden Country Club in Ayden.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held in the church fellowship hall after the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of 71st High School in Fayetteville and Mitchell’s Hair Styling Academy in Greenville. She is the owner of The Fringed Benefit Hair Salon in Greenville.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Farmville Central High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in industrial technology from East Carolina University in Greenville. He is a chemical processor at DSM Catalytica Pharmaceuticals.

After a honeymoon trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will live in Greenville.

Amanda Celeste Hubbard and Mark Adam Yencsko, both of Charlotte, were married icon at 5 p.m. on April 21, 2001, at Hay Street United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. The Rev. Charles Sparks officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Marilyn C. Stout and Samuel P. Hubbard, both of Fayetteville. She is the stepdaughter of Glyndetta T. Hubbard of Fayetteville and Bill E. Stout of Laurinburg. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Michael John Yencsko of San Clemente, Calif.

The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Leigh Hubbard Simms. The bridesmaids were the groom’s sister, Marsia Michelle Yencsko, Christi Renee Brock and Kimberly Ann Drum all of Charlotte; Angela Little Katz of New York; Alycen Pond Nigro of San Diego, Calif.; and the bride’s sister, Elizabeth Victoria Stout of Fayetteville. The junior bridesmaids were Elizabeth Rogers Robinette and Victoria Boone Robinette, both of Charlotte. The flower girls were Katelin Danielle Fox and Nicole Christine Fox, both of Boone.

The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsmen were Steven Vincent Avdul of New York; Scott Douglass and Scott McIver Jackson, both of Charlotte; Mark Gerald Hatton of Spartanburg, S.C.; and Brad Eugene Shaver of Newport.

The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a mathematics teacher with the Cabarrus County Schools.

The groom also is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is an analyst with First Union Capital Markets.

The couple will live in Charlotte.

The bride is the daughter of Robin Carter of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Gene Thornton of Fayetteville. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Christianson Sr., of Fayetteville.

The bride was escorted by her father. The maid of honor was the bride’s cousin, Samantha Elaine Wood of Seattle.

The child attendants were the daughter of the groom, Jena Christianson, and the sons of the groom, Chase and Kevin Christianson.

The best man was Robert Farr of Fayetteville.

The bride is a graduate of Southview High School in Fayetteville. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a pharmaceutical sales representative with TAP Pharmaceuticals Inc.

The groom is a graduate of Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Appalachian State University. He is a medical consultant with Physicians Sales and Service Medical Co. in Garner.

After a honeymoon trip to Bermuda, the couple will live in Fayetteville.

The Rev. Dr. Harold Willis and Agnes Floyd Hubbard Sr. of Fayetteville celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 9, 2001, with a reaffirmation at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Aberdeen, followed by a reception on the couple’s lawn in Fayetteville.

Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard were married icon on June 10, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in Fairmont. They have three children, Harold W. Hubbard Jr. of Plantation, Fla.; Daryl F. Hubbard of Hollywood, Fla.; and Tyrone Cotton of Newburgh, N.Y.

Officiating the reaffirmation ceremony were the Rev. Dr. DeVore Chapman, pastor of Greater Bright Light Baptist Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the Rev. Carl Brinkley of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

Serving as the best man was the couple’s oldest son, Harold Willis Hubbard Jr. The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Deloris Pinnix of Roselle, N.Y. The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. James Floyd of Spring Valley, N.Y., and Mr. and Mrs. David Granger, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Hodges and Audry and Austin Kizzie, all of Fayetteville.

The candlelighters were the couple’s sons, Daryl Floyd Hubbard and Tyrone Cotton, and the couple’s nephews, David Granger and Austin Kizzie, both of Fayetteville.

The bell ringer was the couple’s nephew, Russell Waller Jr. of Willingboro, N.J. The flower girls were the couple’s nieces, Ashley Johnson and Deja Granger, both of Fayetteville. The musicians were soloist Jacqueline Hart of Aberdeen and organist Melvin Barton of Fayetteville. The reaffirmation director was Cassandra McMillion.

The couple also celebrated with a cruise to the Western Caribbean accompanied by 32 family members and friends.

Mrs. Hubbard is a part-time EC teacher with the Cumberland County Schools at Cliffdale Classical. The Rev. Dr. Hubbard is the retired education administrator with the Newburgh City Schools in Newburgh, N.Y. He is currently the pastor of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
