Alyson Duel DeVane and Robert Wayne Brown, both of Greenville, were married icon at 2 p.m. on March 10, 2001, at First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. The Rev. R. Steve Gordon officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. DeVane of Fayetteville. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Brown of Belhaven.

The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Beverly Cooper of Fayetteville. The bridesmaids were Lisa Covell of Wake Forest, Angela Byrne of Winterville, Katie Jordan of Belhaven, Jill McCorkle of Raleigh and Sheila Rademacher of Cary. The child attendant was Samantha Williams of Belhaven.

The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsmen were Laurin Cooper and Jay DeVane, both of Fayetteville; Brad Cox of Pantego; and James Jones and Eric Jordan, both of Belhaven.

The bride is a graduate of Pitt Community College in Greenville. She is a respiratory therapist with Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

The groom is a graduate of Beaufort County Community College in Washington. He is a technical trainer with Cox Communications.

The couple plans to live in Greenville.

Mr. & Mrs. Little

Ernest and Mary Little of Raeford celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 8, 2000, at a family dinner given by their children at Ryan’s Family Steakhouse.

Mr. and Mrs. Little were married icon on December 2, 1950, in Bennettsville, S.C. They have five children, James Little; Kathy Little; Bobby Little and wife, Sheila; Debbie Watson and husband Homer; and Cynthia Holmes and husband Michael. They also have seven grandchildren.

Their children were hosts for the reception. The couple received many gifts, some of which included congratulatory letters from President Clinton and Governor Hunt. Their children gave gifts which included a gold 50th anniversary plaque and a memory album. They were presented with five Gideon Bibles that will be distributed by friends Col. and Mrs. Henry Gibson in honor of the Little’s anniversary.

The children and grandchildren would like to thank family and friends for their support and for attending the special celebration.

Mr. & Mrs. Leslie

Mr. and Mrs. Neill Franklin Leslie of Eastover celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 24, 2001. The couple was honored with a family celebration at the Family Life Enrichment Center of the Salem United Methodist Church in Eastover. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie were married icon on March 24, 1951, in Dillon, S.C. They have two children, Neill Franklin Leslie Jr. of Falcon and Carol Leslie Hudson of Eastover; three grandchildren and one step-grandson; and one step-great-grandson.

Mr. & Mrs. Morley

Riki Oneda and Charles William Morley of Olivia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 10, 2001.

Mr. and Mrs. Morley were married icon on January 10, 1951, in Kobe, Japan.

Stephen Russell Shaffer

Mr. and Mrs. Warren Elkins of Fayetteville announce the engagement of their daughter, Christine Rebecca Elkins of Highland Park, N.J., to Stephen Russell Shaffer of Atlanta, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shaffer of Marietta, Ga.

The couple plans to marry at 4 p.m. on May 26, 2001, at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville with the Rev. Richard Bowen officiating.

The bride-elect is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a rowing coach with Rutgers University in New Jersey.

The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Clemson University in South Carolina. He is a logistics analyst with Georgia Pacific in Atlanta.

The couple plans to live in New Jersey.

Rhonda Kay Gaskins and Gregory Shawn Eller, both of Raleigh, will be married icon at 4 p.m. on April 7, 2001, at Red Springs Presbyterian Church in Red Springs. Miss Gaskins is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey R. Gaskins of Parkton. Mr. Eller is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Eller of Bridgewater, Va.

Frederick Allen Williams

Miss Lesley Marie Holden of Raleigh and Dr. Frederick Allen Williams of St. Pauls will be married icon at 5:30 p.m. on May 19, 2001, at Holden Beach Chapel in Holden Beach. Miss Holden is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyndon L. Holden of Holden Beach. Mr. Williams is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick G. Williams Jr. of St. Pauls.

Kipchoge Keine Ryan

Alexia Denise Peoples of Largo, Md., and Kipchoge Keine Ryan of Dale City, Va., will be married icon at 3 p.m. on May 5, 2001, in Garysburg, Va. Miss Peoples is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Peoples of Garysburg. Mr. Ryan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ryan of Fayetteville.

Taryn Malia Cavaco and Wesley Brock Crawford, both of Chesapeake, Va., will be married icon at 3 p.m. on June 30, 2001, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. Miss Cavaco is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Cavaco of Fayetteville. Mr. Crawford is the son of Jo Alice Langston of Wilson and Billy Dwight Crawford of Virginia Beach, Va. He also is the stepson of Penny Crawford of Virginia Beach and Danny Langston of Wilson.

Taryn Malia Cavaco and Wesley Brock Crawford, both of Chesapeake, Va., were married icon at 3 p.m. on June 30, 2001, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. The Rev. Dr. Benjamin West officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Cavaco of Fayetteville. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy Florand and the late Marvin Florand.

The groom’s parents are Jo Alice Langston of Wilson and Billy Dwight Crawford of Virginia Beach, Va. He is the stepson of Penny Crawford of Virginia Beach and Danny Langston of Wilson. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Crawford, J.C. Brock and the late Dorothy Brock.

The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was Sara Griffith of Greenville. The maid of honor was Megan Guthrie of Greenville. The bridesmaids were the groom’s sister, Amy Miller of Efland, Brandy Cox of Wilmington, Alison Gurganus of Wendell and Jennifer Scott and Carrie Rogers, both of Raleigh. The flower girls were Katherine Ritzel and Allison Ritzel, both of Virginia Beach.

The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsmen were the bride’s brother, Jonathon Cavaco, Eric Hall of Raleigh, Todd Miller of Efland, Gene Furr of Winterville and Jason Graves and Matt Engledrum, all of Greenville.

The wedding musicians were organist Karen Troutman and soloists Carrie Rogers and Doyle Wood.

The bride received her bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science, teacher preparation from East Carolina University in Greenville. She is a physical education and health teacher and the junior varsity cheerleading coach with Currituck County High School in Barco.

The groom received his bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science. He is a sales representative with PDI-Lifecycle Pharmaceuticals.

After a honeymoon trip to Treasure Island, Fla., the couple will live in Chesapeake, Va.

James Gregory Hayes

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dugan of Fayetteville. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Hayes of Virginia Beach, Va.

The couple plans to live in Stuttgart, Germany.
