The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lamoine E. Mercer of Fayetteville. The groom’s parents are William Patrick “B.J.” Johnson Sr. and Judy Edge, both of Hope Mills. He is the stepson of Yvonne Johnson, also of Hope Mills.

The bride was escorted by her father. The maid of honor was Andrea Paige Mercer, the bride’s sister. The bridesmaids were Jennifer Chandler of Apex, Christy Colbourne of Hope Mills, Anna Famuliner of Arden, Cyndi Hanson of Wilmington, Jae Pownall of Raleigh and Amy Mitchell and Mandy Rogers, both of Fayetteville.

The flower girl was Kelsey Leigh Simmons. The ring bearer was Robbie Huston Johnson.

The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsmen were Anthony Brunson of Raeford, Charles Davis and Neil Johnson, both of Fayetteville, Kenneth Dew and Brian O’Connor, both of Wilmington, John Michael McAllister of Chapel Hill and Eric Zeigler of Paso Robles, Calif.

The wedding musicians were organist Don Williams and soloist Barbara Lawson.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at the Radisson Prince Charles Hotel after the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She is employed with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services as a child care consultant.

The groom attends the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He is a junior project manager with Bryant Electric Co.

After a honeymoon trip to Jamaica, the couple plans to live in Wilmington.

PINEHURST — Vicky Griffin Mims of Fayetteville and Marvin Smith of Albemarle were married icon on September 16 at The Village Chapel in Pinehurst.

The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ted Griffin. The groom’s parents are the late Mr. and Mrs. T.M. Smith of Albemarle. The couple plans to live in Albemarle.

Rogers — Johnson
Carly Amanda Rogers and Barry Neil Johnson Jr., both of Fayetteville, were married icon at 7 p.m. on September 30 at Cape Fear Baptist Church in Fayetteville. The Rev. Bishop Steven McMillian officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Susan Wiggins Faircloth of Hope Mills. She is the granddaughter of the late Jackie and Carlie Wiggins and the honorary granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Johnson of Hope Mills.

The groom’s parents are Gail Johnson and Barry N. Johnson Sr., both of Fayetteville. The groom is the stepson of Dick Johnson and Debra Johnson, both of Fayetteville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. LeVern Lee and Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Grainger, all of Fayetteville.

The bride was escorted by her brother, Josh Guin. The matron of honor was the bride’s friend, Alison M. Johnson of Wilmington. The bridesmaids were Rebecca Duffy Stoltz of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Amy J. Baker, Marsha Deaton and Jessica Underwood, all of Fayetteville.

The best man was the groom’s father, Barry N. Johnson Sr., and the groom’s brother, Bryan Johnson, both of Fayetteville. The groomsmen were Billy Johnson of Wilmington, Steve McMillian of Fayetteville and Erik Zeigler of San Pablo, Calif.

The bride is a graduate of South View Senior High School. She is employed in the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Equipment Department, Division Six in Fayetteville.

The groom also is a graduate of South View Senior High School. He is employed with Wade Hardin Plumbing Co. in Fayetteville.

The couple plans to live in Fayetteville.

Van Story — Bitner
OAK RIDGE — Lisa Marie Van Story and Steve Roy Hoover Bitner, both of North Wilksboro were married icon on September 2 at the Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church in Oak Ridge.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Van Story III of Fayetteville. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Roy George Bitner of Charlottesville, Va. The couple plans to live in Salisbury, Md.

Mr. and Mrs. O.F. Dowd
Mr. and Mrs. O.F. “Buddy” Dowd of White Oak celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 29 at the Barn restaurant in Fayetteville.

Buddy and Dainese Dowd were married icon on September 21, 1950, in Dillon, S.C. They have four children, Treva D. Towne of Charleston, S.C., and Judy D. Strickland, W. Keith Dowd and Tracy D. Dowd, all of White Oak. Mr. and Mrs. Dowd also have nine grandchildren.

Mr. & Mrs. Joseph E. Dyer
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Dyer of Fayetteville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 24.

Mr. and Mrs. Dyer were married icon on September 20, 1950, in South Carolina.

Mr. & Mrs. Dale Blake
Mr. and Mrs. Dale I. Blake of Fay-etteville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 1 at a party in the couple’s home.

Mr. and Mrs. Blake were married icon on October 1, 1950, in Dillon, S.C. They have four children, Dale E. Blake and Ricky S. Blake, both of Hope Mills, and Wanda M. Roy and Connie M. Vance, both of Sanford. The Blakes have 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Schrader — Little
RALEIGH — Karen Jeanne Schrader of Raleigh and David James Little Jr. of Wrightsville Beach were married icon at 5:30 p.m. on October 7 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church with the The Rev. Dr. Milton H. Gilbert officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John William Schrader of Raleigh. She also is the granddaughter of Mrs. O. Jay VanSyoc of Raleigh, the late Dr. O. Jay VanSyoc, Mrs. Edwin C. Schrader of Kansas City, Kan., and the late Edwin C. Schrader.

The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. David James Little of Fayetteville. The bridegroom also is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Cherry of Chapel Hill and the late Mr. and Mrs. C. Rhyne Little of Lincolnton.

The bride was escorted by her father. The maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Lori Anne Schrader of Chapel Hill. The bridesmaids were Leslie Joy Baldwin of Charlotte, Jennifer Elizabeth Emswiler, Julie Marie Robertson and Ellen Maria Christina Venturi, all of Raleigh, Michelle Lloyd Manning of Chapel Hill, and Rebecca Elizabeth Shuttlesworth of Fairfax, Va. The child attendant was the bride’s cousin, Jay VanSyoc of Los Altos, Calif.

The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsmen were William Henry Breeden III of Swansboro, Louis Hal Fogleman III of Topsail Beach, John Andrew MacMahon of Philadelphia, Hubert Douglas Reaves III of Wrightsville Beach, Michael John Schrader and Mark Allen Schrader, both of Raleigh, and Christopher Allen Stewart of Atlanta.

The wedding musicians were Lennie Collins, Rachel Mann, Ashley Webb, Coleen Zavaston and the St. Mark’s Handbell Choir.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at Sister’s Garden after the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her master’s degree in physical therapy from East Carolina University.

The bridegroom received his undergraduate degree from Davidson College where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He currently is enrolled in the graduate School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He is a territory manager with the Parke-Davis Division of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.

After a honeymoon trip to Bonaire and Aruba, the couple will live in Wrightsville Beach.

Peebles — Chalmers
Joyce Maria Peebles and 1st Lt. Adam McLain Chalmers, both of Fayetteville, were married icon at 2 p.m. on August 19 at the Main Post Chapel on Fort Bragg. Chaplain James Davis officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Serena Peebles of Fayetteville and the late Gordon E. Peebles Sr. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Scott Chalmers of Benecia, Calif.

The couple plans to live in Fayetteville.

Joseph — Allen
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Roslyn Joseph of Port of Spain, Trinidad, and Cletis Everrett Allen of Fayetteville, N.C. were married icon at 4 p.m. on August 28 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. The bride’s aunt and uncle, The Rev. Angela Jeffrey Baron of Chicago and The Rev. Willie J. Dozier of Conway, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Veronica Baron and Neville Joseph, both of Port of Spain, Trinidad. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Allen of Fayetteville.

The couple plans to live in Germany.

Hales — Buron
GREENSBORO — Kristina Lynn Hales and James Edward Buron, both of Greensboro, were married icon at 11 a.m. on October 7 at Our Lady of Grace church with the Rev. Eric Kowalski officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Hales of Fayetteville. She also is the granddaughter of Mildred Haney, the late William Haney, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Hales.

The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Buron of Oakham, Mass. The bridegroom also is the grandson of Marion Shea, the late Edward Shea and Beatrice Buron.

The bride wore a white embroidered gown with a chapel-length train. She carried a round bouquet of white lilies, roses and tulips. Her white, two-tiered veil was accented with piping and attached to a porcelain rose comb.

The bride was escorted by her father. The maid of honor was the bride’s friend, Joy Moore of Pleasant Garden. The bridesmaids were Anita Blomme of Raleigh, Katie Conkey of Wilmington, Susan Lenihan of Charlotte, Lisa Mabe of Greensboro, April Robertson of Lexington and Carissa Underwood of Winston-Salem. The child attendant was Frieda Upton-Buron of Worcester, Mass.

The best man was the groom’s brother, John Buron of Worcester. The groomsmen were A.J. Birr of Carmel, Ind., Mark Buron of Foxboro, Mass, Jon D’Annolfo, Carl Davison and Chris Dwelly, all of Barre, Mass., and Dan Petit of Greensboro.

The wedding was directed by Lynne Birr. The wedding musicians were Pam Lawrence and Bryan Marble.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held after the ceremony at The Hilton in Greensboro.

The bride is a graduate of Pine Forest Senior High School, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Appalachian State University. She is a substance abuse adolescent counselor with Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare in Salisbury.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Quabbin Regional High School in Barre, Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is a radio personality with 94.5-FM WXRA in Winston-Salem.

After a honeymoon trip to Punte Bete, Mexico, the couple will live in Greensboro.

The bride is a graduate of E.E. Smith Senior High School, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill. She is an assistant professor of Public Law and Government with the Institute of Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Roanoke High School in Robersonville, Howard University in Washington, D.C., and the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill. He is an attorney with the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh.

After a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, the couple will live in Durham.

The bridesmaids were Melanie Cole of Statesville, Jessica Loiacono of Durham, Deborah Handy of High Point, Carrie Martin, Amanda Gaines, Dr. Mandy Hunter and Lori Goforth, all of Raleigh, and Elizabeth Schramm of Chapel Hill. The honorary bridesmaid was Bettie Rabb of Apex. The child attendant was the groom’s niece, Emily Rabb of Apex.

The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsmen were Jason Cole of Statesville, Jeff Piasik and Kevin Cline, both of Raleigh, Preston O’Berry and Lewis Walters, both of Atlanta, Brannon Lancaster of Wilmington and Mike Rabb of Apex.

The wedding was directed by Carol Hunter. The wedding musicians were organist Jane Pardue, flutist Melody Morrison Beaty, harpist Rebecca Jones and soloist Dan Pardue.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s mother, was held at the Statesville Country Club after the ceremony.
