Raeford — Leatha Lathen of Raeford and Randall Metcalf of Fayetteville were married icon at 3 p.m. on September 16, at Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church with The Rev. Edward Ash and The Rev. W.C. Ellilot officiating.

The bride is the daughter of the late David and Ora Lathen. She also is the niece of Jackie Gavin of Lumberton and the godchild of Aise McLaurin of Raeford.

The bridegroom’s parents are Mignon Metcalf of Alabama and the late Melton Metcalf.

The bride wore an ivory gown of marquisette over silk and carried a silk bouquet of ivory and sapphire blue roses. She was escorted by her cousin, Bobby Lathen of Spring Lake.

The matron of honor was the bride’s friend, Dianne Eumanuel of Raeford. The maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Brenda Lathen, also of Raeford. The bridesmaids were Annie Thomas, Linda McBryde, Deborah Hall, Deborah Jackson and Betty Harris, all of Raeford, and Bernattie Lathen of Fayetteville. The flower girls were DaAnah Massey and Ilisha Lathen and the bell girl was Kimberely Moon of Wardoff, Md. The ring bearer was Cortez Lathen.

The best man was Alexander Cole of Raeford. The groomsmen were James Conyers, Willie Green, Johnnie Blounts and Jessie Smith, all of Fayetteville, Robert Lathen of Raeford, Ted Lathen of Chadbourne, and Tony Gavin of Lumberton. The ushers were Myron Metcalf and Kenya McPhatter.

The wedding was directed by Sherry Wall of Raeford. The wedding musicians included Eric Hudson and Shonette Peterkin.

The bride’s sisters were hosts for the reception at Raeford Civic Center. Serving as hostesses were Sharon Lathen, Mignon Metcalf, Chairmaine Flowers, Daphne Dudley, Belle Flowers, Carie Flowers and Deloris McDougald The mistress of ceremonies was Esther Hollingsworth-Shaw.

The bride is a graduate of Hoke High School in Raeford and Fayetteville Technical Community College.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Hampton High School in Alabama and ICS in Pennsylvania. He is retired from the U.S. Army.

The couple plans to live in Fayetteville.

Mattocks — Bray
CHARLOTTE — Katherine Atkins Mattocks and William Parks Bray, both of Charlotte, were married icon at 7:30 p.m. on September 9, at Myers Park Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Raymond Dana Scott and Rev. Jane Summey Mullennix officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lynn Mattocks Jr. of Charlotte. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Leland Gannaway Atkins of Charlotte, the late Leland Gannaway Atkins and the late Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lynn Mattocks Sr.

The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Owen Rhodes Jr. of Pinehurst, formally of Fayetteville, and Robert Parks Bray of Plano, Texas. The bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edward Hutchinson of Florence, S.C., Mrs. Charles Doring Bray Jr. of Florence, S.C., the late Charles Doring Bray Jr., Mrs. Theodore Owen Rhodes Sr. of Fayetteville and the late Theodore Owen Rhodes Sr.

The bride was escorted by her father.

The matron of honor was Jill Painter Mattocks of Charlotte, sister-in-law to the bride. The bridesmaids were Ashley Walker Atkins, Jamie Alexander Atkins, Melissa Larkin Gibson, Stewart Atkins Little and Mary Mitchell Luczak, all of Charlotte. The flower girl was the bride’s cousin, Ashley McAllister Little of Atlanta. The ring bearers were William Harmon Mauze Jr. of Charlotte and the groom’s cousin, Jefferson Boone Aiken IV of Florence, S.C.

The best man was the groom’s brother, Gordon Lynn Mattocks III of Charlotte. The groomsmen were Robert Livingston Avinger III, William Harmon Mauze and Scott Alan Milkey, all of Charlotte, Charles Morton Chitty III of Wilmington, Del., and Stephen Daniel Godwin of Atlanta. The ushers were Werner Peter Beck of Charleston, S.C., and Jefferson Kirby Kilpatrick of Pinehurst.

The wedding was directed by Betty W. Bridges. The wedding musicians were the Carolina Chamber Players, soprano Joe Ann Cole, organist Robert Stigall and trumpeter Robert Jackson.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at the Charlotte Country Club immediately after the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of St. Mary’s Junior College and Meredith College. She is a private banking associate with Park Meridian Bank in Charlotte.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Woodberry Forest School, Davidson College and the University of South Carolina Law School and is a member of the bar associations of North and South Carolina. He is president of Welton Sports in Charlotte.

After a honeymoon trip to the Greek Isles, the couple will live in Charlotte.

Sanders — Huggins
IRMO, S.C. — Lisa Caroline Sanders of Cary, N.C., and Bruce Wayne Huggins Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., were married icon at 7:30 p.m. on August 19 at Jasmine House in Irmo. The Rev. Dr. Thomas E. Cuttino officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Sanders of Elgin. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Bruce W. Huggins of Lumberton, N.C.

The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Mrs. Chad Long. The best man was the bridegroom’s father.

The bride is a graduate of Irmo High School, Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., and Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Va. She is employed with Dewberry and Davis Engineers in Raleigh, N.C.

The groom is a graduate of Lumberton High School and Appalachian State University in Boone. He is employed with Chemical and Environmental Technology in Cary.

The couple plans to live in Cary.

Taylor — Yancey
Joy Nichole Taylor and Sean Adrian Yancey, both of Fayetteville, were married icon at 4 p.m. on July 29 at Camp Ground United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. The Rev. Ben Rouse officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Taylor of Lumberton. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Yancey of Boise, Idaho.

The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was Sarah Dubler of Murfreesboro, Tenn. The bridesmaids were Tonya Yancey of Reno, Nev., Laura Stephens of Giebalstat, Germany, and Jennifer Loesekahn and Lisa Bankston, both of Fayetteville. The child attendants were Leah Taylor Lord, Rachel Bjork and Dakota Bankston.

The best man was Seth Dubler of Murfreesboro, Tenn. The groomsmen were Rob Stevens of Giebalstat, Germany, Dave Parsons of Reno, Nev., Dave Bankston of Fayetteville and Brett Taylor of Lumberton.

The bride is a graduate of Lumberton Senior High School and attends Methodist College in Fayetteville. She is the store manager with Blockbuster Video in Aberdeen.

The groom is a graduate of Reed High School in Reno, Nev. He attended the University of Nevada and currently attends Methodist College. He is stationed at Fort Bragg.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jess J. Thompson of Raeford. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest J. Irvin of Mittlingburg, Pa.

The bride was escorted by her father. The maid of honor was her close friend, Paula Webb of Greenville. The bridesmaids were Vikkie Childress and Robin Irvin, both of Greenville, Shannon King of Cary, and Jeannie Flieger of Long Island, N.Y. The child attendants were Katie Ballard and Kirsten Ballard, both of Puyallup, Wash., and Trevor McCan of Fayetteville.

The best man was the groom’s close friend Jef Litvin of Fayetteville. The groomsmen were Brett Jackson of Fort Rucker, Ala., Andrew Benzing of Fayetteville, Mike Ash of Fort Knox, Ky., and Sean McMillan of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

The bride is a graduate of Westover Senior High School and East Carolina University.

The groom is a graduate of Mifflinburg High School in Mifflinburg, Pa., and Penn State University in Pennsylvania. He is a captain in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Bragg.

Williams — Bowers
LUMBERTON — Jennifer Elizabeth Williams and Edwin Randal Bowers, both of Greenville, were married icon at 4 p.m. on September 23 at Chestnut Street United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Stan Smith officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Williams of Lumberton. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bowers of Siler City.

The bride was escorted by her father. The maid of honor was Ivey A. Lewis of Banner Elk. The bridesmaids were Christina Boyce of Charlotte and Stacy Shavender, Tracy Shavender and Catherine Melonas, all of Greenville. The flower girl was Andrea Mantovani and the ring bearer was Tony Mantovani.

The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsmen were Preston Bowers and Michael Williams, both of Greenville, Timothy Williams of Hope Mills and Wes Petty of Raleigh.

The bride is a graduate of East Carolina University. She is employed as a parent counselor with Child Care Resource & Referral of Lenoir-Greene County.

The groom also is a graduate of East Carolina University. He is a planning and development specialist with The Wooten Co. in Greenville.

After a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean and a trip to Disney World, the couple plans to live in Greenville.

DeVault — Proctor
Lisa Ann DeVault and Joseph David Proctor, both of Fayetteville, will be married icon at 3:30 p.m. on November 11 at Peace Chapel on Fort Bragg. Miss DeVault is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lee Madderom of Mount Juliet, Tenn. Mr. Proctor is the son of Dolores Sturgess Proctor of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and the late Roland Proctor. He also is the stepson of Rose Proctor of Poughkeepsie.

Gibbons — Hickman
Jennifer Gibbons and Dr. Edward Vinson Hickman, both of Lumberton, will be married icon November 4 at Highland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. Miss Gibbons is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Charles Gibbons of Lumberton. Dr. Hickman is the son of Anne V. Hickman of Fayetteville and Henry C. Hickman of Sanford.

Morris — McPhail
Mr. and Mrs. E. Gerald Halliburton of Fayetteville announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather Renee Morris to Jeffery Iverson McPhail, both of Fayetteville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Augustus McPhail of Fayetteville. Miss Morris also is the daughter of the late Jerry E. Morris.

The couple plans to marry December 1, 2001, in Fayetteville.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Westover High School and a former Miss Westover. She is a senior in the nursing program at Barton College.

The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Terry Sanford High School. He is employed by the Fayetteville Fire Department on the Hazardous Materials Team.

Owen — Cuomo
Catherine Leigh Owen of Raleigh and A. Michael Cuomo of Philadelphia, Pa., will be married icon at 5 p.m. on November 25 at Highland Presbyterian Church Chapel in Fayetteville. Miss Owen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Headrick Owen of Fay- etteville. Mr. Cuomo is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Cuomo of Kinston.

Rochman — Pinker
Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Rochman of Fayetteville announce the engagement of their daughter, Bonnie Ilene Rochman of Raleigh, to Dov Pinker of Raleigh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Pinker of Lawrenceville, N.J.

The couple plans to marry April 1, 2001.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Terry Sanford High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a journalist with the News & Observer in Raleigh.

The bridegroom-elect received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from George Washington University and received a degree in business management from Boston University. He is the business development manager for Windwire, a new Internet company in Raleigh.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Smith of Fayetteville announce the engagement of their daughter, Allison Brooks Smith, to Michael Brandon Neighbors, son of Sandra Neighbors of Fayetteville. Mr. Neighbors also is the stepson of Jose Torres.

The couple plans to marry at 3 p.m. on December 9, at Southview Baptist Church in Hope Mills with the Rev. Larry Turner of Wilmington officiating.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Douglas Byrd Senior High School. She is a receptionist with the office of Dr. George Cooper, an ophthalmologist in Fayetteville.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth F. Brookins of Baltimore. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Carlos L. Walker of Fayetteville, N.C.

The bride was escorted by her father. The maid of honor was the bride’s cousin, Teresa Brookins. The bridesmaids were Pleshette Sonnier, Annette Williams, Dina Wilson and Sonya Hairston. The junior bridesmaids were Natasha Doris and Jasmine Spruill. The flower girl was Alexandra Bradford. The ring bearer was Carlos Walker III and the Bible carrier was Michael T. Lawton.

The bride is the daughter of George Bradley Cooper Jr. and Judy Cooper Sinclair, both of Salemburg. She also is the granddaughter of Mary Maggio Cooper of Salemburg, the late George Bradley Cooper Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Prentice L. Jackson.

The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Murry Mack Bullard of Roseboro. The bridegroom also is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bullard and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Autry.

The bride wore a princess-style dress of white Italian satin which had a V-neck bodice outlined with pearls and included short organza and lace sleeves. The bodice and sleeves were trimmed with Battenburg lace, pearls and Austrian crystals. The scalloped hem was made with sheer organza, inserted with Battenburg lace trim and accented with pearls and Austrian crystals. The detachable train was designed with a scalloped Battenburg lace hem accented with pearls and Austrian crystals.

The bride carried a formal European cascade bouquet of white dendrobium orchids, white cymidium orchids, Tineke bridal roses and fragrant stephanotis flowers, all interspersed with Italian illusion ribbon. Her headpiece was made of silk Venice lace accented with pearls and Austrian crystals and included three tiers of imported finger-tip illusion veil. The bride was escorted by her father.

The matron of honor was the bride’s friend, Bridget Britt of Dunn. The maid of the honor was Tammy Bullard of Roseboro, sister of the groom. The bridesmaids were Holly Cooper of San Francisco, and Heather Johnson of Clinton. The flower girl was the groom’s niece, Hannah Hall of Roseboro.

The best man was the groom’s father. The groomsmen were Adam Bullard of Greenville, Prentice Madgar and Micheal Lewis, both of Roseboro, and Keith Jackson of Wade.

The wedding was directed by Mary E. Jones and Joyce Porter, both of Salemburg. The wedding musicians were organist Billie Warren, pianist Sylvia Haynes and soloists Laura Lynn Owen Hall and Kettrell Strickland.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at Lakewood Country Club after the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of Lakewood High School and Sampson Community College. She is employed with Sprint in Clinton.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Cape Fear Senior High School. He is employed by Millard Owen Surveying in Clinton.

After a honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas, the couple will live in Salemburg.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James Samuel Hall III of Fayetteville.

The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. James Olen Beasley of Fayetteville.

The bride was escorted by her father.

The child attendants were the nieces and nephews of the bride and groom. They were James Samuel Kizer, Mary Madison Kizer, Jeffrey Logan Gainey and Landry Kyle Gainey, all of Fayetteville, Benjamin Hall Bridges, Hannah Caroline Bridges and Elizabeth Owen Bridges, all of Charlotte, and Matthew Harrison Carlan of Winston-Salem.

The best man was the groom’s father.

The wedding musician was Lisa Craver. The bride’s parents hosted a reception at their home following the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a kindergarten teacher at Margaret Willis Elementary School.

The bridegroom is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He is a physical education teacher at Bill Hefner Elementary School.

The couple will live in Fayetteville.
