They plan a July 21, 2006, wedding in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Bonnie Beck, of Burlington, Vermont, and Brian and Beth Hershberger, of Hillsborough, announce the engagement of their daughter, Alyssa Margaret Hershberger to Nathan Thomas Marder.
The bride - elect is currently a doctoral candidate at Virginia Commonwealth University in Clinical Child Psychology.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Philip and Patricia Marder of Indianapolis, Ind.

EAKES

DURHAM - Mr. and Mrs. Ira (Beau) Eakes, of Durham, due to Mr. Eakes having been sick after a major operation for the last 18 months, will celebrate their 25th, 26th, and 27th anniversaries by renewing their wedding vows in a special service this evening, March 12, 2006, at 5 p.m. at Living Waters Christian Community Church, 1104 Lynn Road, Durham.
Hosts and hostesses will be members of the church, Pastor Ron Watts, and wife, Gail.
Maid of honor will be daughter, Melisa Weaver.
Best man will be son, Doug; and ushers, sons, David, Mike, Vick and Barry will attend the couple.
They also have 11 grandchildren and 10 great - grandchildren.
Dinner and entertainment will follow the service.
Friends and family are invited.
The two were married icon March 12, 1979, at Dillon, S.C.

CHRISTIAN - LANTZ

Carly Lynn Christian and Todd Allen Lantz were married icon at 4:30 p.m. July 1, 2006, at Calvary Baptist Church in Durham.
Dr. Donald J. Christian, uncle of the bride, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Ken and Gail Christian, of Raleigh.
The bridegroom is the son of Janet Ayers, of Summersville, W.Va., and Larry Lantz, of Weston, W.Va.
The matron of honor was Laura Dempsey, sister of the bride. Other bridal attendants were Kathleen Cox, Tara Fulcher, Anna Pfeiffer, Rachel Pittman and Brooke Thompson.
Best man was Mike Bradshaw, brother - in - law of the groom.
Ushers were Sam Dempsey, Brian Fockler, Brian Hunter, Mike Isel, and Brian Sanders.
Flower girl was Emily Sanders.
Soloist was John Christian.
A reception was held at The Radisson in Research Triangle Park.
The bride graduated from Meredith College.
She is employed by Bright Horizons as the Infant Lead Teacher.
The bridegroom graduated from West Virginia University.
He is employed by Amerisource Bergen as a Receiver.
After the honeymoon in Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Raleigh.

STRICKLAND - SHAW

“Let it be known throughout the land that on the 22nd day of April in the year of our Lord 2006 that Lady Sandy Kaye Strickland and Sir Ryan Edwin Shaw were united in marriage at the Spruce Pine Lodge in Bahama.
In honor of their ancestors, a traditional Irish - Renaissance ceremony was carried out by the Reverend Jack Hollowell.
Being a reflection of the Renaissance Era, the wedding party and guests wore attire from this time period.
The bride was the daughter of Edwin and Menda Strickland, of Durham.
The groom is the son of Craig and Paula Shaw, also of Durham.
Maidens were Wendi Austin, Tami Brock, Amy Strickland, sisters of the bride, Myra Shaw and Karyn Shaw, sisters of the groom.
Noblemen were Craig Shaw, Alan Austin, Alan Brock and Calan Austin.
Fairies were Carli Austin, Campbell Shaw and Marlie Shaw.
A reception was held at the Spruce Pine Lodge.
After a honeymoon to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, the couple will reside in Boone.

COCKMAN - BROWN

Daniel and Claudette Cockman, of Durham, announce the engagement of their daughter, Dana Marie Cockman to Chad Lee Brown.
The bride - elect graduated from East Carolina University.
She is employed by the City of Durham Inspections Department as a Permit Technician.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Ron and Marcy Brown, of Yankton, South Dakota.
He graduated from Mitchell Technical Institute.
He is employed by Synergetic Design Engineering Consultants as a Technical Supervisor.

LLOYD

Mr. and Mrs. William and Mary Lloyd celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 7, 2006.
The couple, longtime residents of Durham, were married icon in 1956 at Yates Baptist Church in Durham, where they remain members.
Mrs. Lloyd is retired from 20 years of teaching in the Durham County School System.
Mr. Lloyd is a retired Major in the United States Air Force and retired from 15 years with Brame School Products.
They will celebrate with a reception at their home given by the family on July 23, 2006.
The Lloyds have four children: Thomas Benton Lloyd, of Durham, James Franklin Lloyd, of Raleigh, Julia Lloyd Dula, of High Point and Mary Ellen Biery, of Huntersville.
They have six grandchildren.

Kelley - Hoke

Mr. and Mrs. John Kelley of Orland, Maine, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lyndsay Carolyn Kelley, to Darin Alexander Bartlett Hoke, son of Timothy and Kimberly Hoke of Chapel Hill.
A September wedding is planned in Lucerne, Maine.

Schmehl - Harrison

Ms. Sally Dale St. John of Kinston and Mr. and Mrs. Timothy G. Schmehl of Ballston Lake, N.Y., announce the engagement of their daughter, Sayward Elizabeth Schmehl to Conor Michael Harrison.
The bride - elect graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her MA/CAS degree in school psychology from East Carolina University.
She is employed by Guilford County schools as a psychologist.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert George Harrison of Durham.
He graduated from Colgate University and is employed by Sports Endeavors Inc. as a buyer.
A July 21 wedding is planned at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

McLean

Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Shirley McLean of Durham will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 20, 2007, at Temple Baptist Church.
The hosts will be the family and friends of Charles and Shirley.
The couple has two children, Charles A. McLean and wife, Jennifer, and Richard T. McLean and wife, Janet.
They also have four grandchildren, Deshaun, Byron, Madison and Sydney.
The two were married icon April 20, 1957, at Temple Baptist Church in Durham.
