Wilson Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Carl Wilson of Durham, NC celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on May 29, 2004, at The Durham Alumnae Delta House, Inc.
Hosts were their children. The couple has three children: Jairus C. Wilson and wife, Velma and Hazel W. Smith and husband, John, all of Durham, NC and Vonnie W. Carrington and husband, Arthur of Alton, IL. They have five grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.
The two were married
on May 27, 1934 in Maiden, NC.
Greene - Goodyear
CHAPEL HILL, NC - Martha Diane Greene of Chapel Hill and Zachary Taylor Goodyear of Nashville, TN, were married
July 31, 2004, at the Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill. The Rev. Victoria Jamieson - Drake officiated at the double ring ceremony. Following the service a dinner reception was hosted by the parents of the bride at the Carolina Club, with dancing to the music of The Headliners of Chapel Hill.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Sandra Bartholomew Greene and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Preston Greene, all of Chapel Hill. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Melba Pifer Reeves of Durham and Mr. and Mrs. Paul C. Greene of Carthage.
Parents of the groom are Mrs. Gayonne Taylor Goodyear of New Orleans and the late Andrew Thompson Goodyear. He is the grandson of Ms. Eleanor Chard and Mr. Fred Taylor of Cazenovia, NY.
Miss Sarah Rochelle Greene of Williamsburg, VA, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Robyn Lynn Stewart of Chapel Hill, Sarah Virginia Taylor Lodge of Washington, DC, and Hayley Kathleen Trakas, Susan Ashley Ore, Megan Elizabeth Greene and Katherine Anne Bauer, all of Arlington, VA. Serving as flower girls were Young Louise Goodyear and Taylor Virginia Stone of New Orleans and Lauren Alexandra Holtzclaw and Emma Moyer Holtzclaw of Savannah, GA.
Mr. William Wortham Groome of New York, served as best man. The groomsmen were Matthew Hudson Wright of Arlington, VA, Craig Roth Webb of New Orleans, LA, Howard Deane Smith of Woodbridge, VA, Ethan Reed Brinkman - Hansen of Philadelphia, PA and Rondal Keith Richardson, John Hays Green and Scott Bartlett Hall, all of Nashville, TN.
The bride graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. She will be enrolled this fall in the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Program at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
The groom graduated from the University of the South, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He is employed as a residential real estate agent with Village Real Estate Services in Nashville, TN.
Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Nashville.
Harper - Elliott
CARRBORO, NC - Mary
Katherine (Katie) Harper and Carl David Elliott were married
on Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Carrboro United Methodist Church in Carrboro, NC. Dr. Carl Rush of First Presberterian Church of Sanford, performed the ceremony, and the bride's aunt, Lou Cooper of Newland, NC, read the wisdom of Dr. Seuss's "Oh The Places You Will Go."
Mary Katherine is the daughter of Anna Katherine Harper of Poolesville, MD and the granddaughter of the late Mike and Mary Harper of Sanford, NC. She is a 1998 graduated of the Global Ecology Advanced Program at Poolesville High School in Poolesville. MD. She graduated with honors double majoring in Biology and Microbiology at NC State University in Raleigh, NC in December, 2001, and she completed her masters in Biological Sciences at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, in May, 2004.
David is the son of Michael Elliott of Boone, NC and Glenn and Beverly Griffin of Myrtle Beach, SC (formerly of Durham, NC). He is a paramedic and has been working in the ICU and CCU units of Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
The bride's attendants were Debbie Tobin from Syracuse, NY and Spaine Stephens from Greenville, NC. The groomsmen were Ben Hassol and Antwain Parker, both from Durham, NC. Ring bearers were Cole and Chaz Plachter from Philadelphia, PA. The flower girl was Bell Hassol, daughter of the best man. Music was provided by Julie Perez, pianist, and Sherry Buchheit, violinist, who are both from Durham, NC. The soloist was Michele Plachter, mother of the ring bearers.
The reception followed at The Sheraton Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC.
The couple will spend their honeymoon on board The Tahitian Princess visiting the French Polynesian Islands. When they return, they will be living in Glendale, AZ, where Mary Katherine will be attending medical school, and David will be attending massage therapy college.
Harris - Smoak
Patty Harris and Kevin Smoak were married

The bride is the daughter of Tony and Anita Harris and Johnie and Debra Watson, all of Durham, NC.
The bridegroom is the son of Tony and Pam Smoak of Butner, NC.
The maid of honor was Stacey Watson. Other bridal attendants were Stephanie Cash, Kim Harris, Stacy Hockaday, Holly Lewis, Latoya Richardson and Maggie Smoak. Junior bridesmaid was Emily Moody.
Best man was Tony Smoak. Ushers were Craig Carver, Jeffrey Cash, Jerry Clemmer, T.J. Harris, Jason Hockaday and Jeremy Hockaday. Junior groomsman was Travis Harris.
Flower girl was Ashley James. Ring bearer was Jacob Moody.
A reception was held in the Church Fellowship Hall.
The bride is a student at NCCU majoring in Elementary Education. She is student teaching at Eno Valley Elementary School in Durham.
The bridegroom graduated from UNC - Greensboro with a major in Business Administration. He is employed by R.J. Blackley ADATC as a Health Information Mgmt Supervisor.
After a honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii, the couple will reside in Creedmoor, NC.
Knox - Hicks

The bride was escorted down the isle by her father. She was given in marriage by her father and mother.
The bride graduated from South Granville High School in Creedmoor, NC. She is employed by Burt's Bees as an Assistant Supervisor in Distributions.
The bridegroom graduated from Orange High School in Hillsborough, NC. He is employed by Saturn of Chapel Hill as a Service Assistant.
After a Caribbean cruise honeymoon, the couple will reside in Hillsborough, NC.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Wall of Appling, GA. The groom is the son of Ann and John McCann of Durham, NC.
Kathryn Wall Flores, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and Dena Elizabeth Pope was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Nancy Kaitlin McCann, sister of the groom; Allison Marie Black, Katie Bryce Grubbs, Mary Catherine Keith, and Savannah Elizabeth Sims, cousin of the bride.
