The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs .Michael L. Shannon of Hillsborough, NC. She is the granddaughter of Nancy Tempesta of Hillsborough, NC, Rudolph Tempesta of Chapel Hill, NC and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Shannon of Largo, Florida.
The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. William R. Dees of Winston Salem, NC. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William "Bill" Dees and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Freedle.
The maid of honor was Miss Laura McKinney. Other bridal attendants were Amber Snipes, Carrie Meighen, Caroline Dees, sister of the groom, and Amanda Clodfelter.
Best man was Mr. Gary Silvestri. Ushers were Brent Jones, Sean Smith, Nathan Spry and Sean Shannon, brother of the bride.
A reception was held at Crystal Garden at Castle McCulloch.
The bride graduated from Appalachian State University. She is employed by the Department of Community Corrections in Lexington, NC.
The bridegroom graduated from Appalachian State University. He is employed by the Davidson County Sheriff's Office.
After a honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple will reside in Lexington, NC.
Smith - Horner

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Smith of Durham, NC.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. Bobby Horner of Hurdle Mills, NC and Ms. Deborah Horner of Durham, NC.
The matron of honor was Mrs. Pamela Hicks. Other bridal attendants were Kristen Tucker and Mrs. Brittany Rice. Honorary bridal attendants were Brook Horner, Cristen Horner and Mrs. Rhonda Clark.
Best man was Mr. Bobby Horner. Ushers were Cleveland Battle, Don Hicks, Lance Chandler, Jimmy Harvest and Chris Yi. Groomsmen were Ethan Douglas and Daniel Smith.

A reception was held at the fellowship hall of Park View Baptist Church.
The bride graduated from East Carolina University with a dual degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Rehabilitation Counseling and a minor in Sign Language Studies. She is employed by Family and Youth, Inc. as a Clinical Assistant.
The bridegroom graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering. He is employed by Cree, Inc as a Process Engineer.
After a honeymoon in Maui and Oahu, Hawaii, the couple will reside in Durham, NC.

APEX, NC - Charles and Norma Jean Couch Evans celebrated their 50th anniversary at their home in Apex. They were married
on August 5, 1953 at Grey Stone Baptist Church.
Hosted by their 6 children and spouses, 10 grandchildren and 1 "greatchild", the 80+ family members were served "Frogmore Stew" and entertained by a "Mock - Wedding".
Brother, Raymond Evans served as "Justice of Peace". Brother - in - law, Leon Crabtree, who gave Norma Jean away 50 years ago, did the honor again!
Their 3 daughters served as "Matrons of Honor". Their 3 sons served as "Best Men".
Five year old granddaughter, Anna Grace was flower girl.
Daughter, Tricia, reproduced their wedding cake.
Nieces and nephews performed songs and skits that they wrote.
Chuck's 5 siblings and spouses from Louisiana attended and Norma Jean's 5 siblings and spouses from RTP area were present.
Their six children are: Rick Evans of Louisiana, Tricia Chapin of Clayton, Jeanie Jackson of Fuquay, Donald Evans of SC, Kelly Thompson of Apex and Scott Evans of Willow Sprngs.
Norma Jean Couch was also a 1953 Miss Durham Contestant. She is also sister of locals, Billy Couch, Gerry Crabtree, Betty Gattis, Evelyn Ham and Carolyn Evans.

The bride graduated from UNC - Greensboro School of Nursing with a BSN and is currently pursuing a graduate degree to practice as an Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. She is employed by NC Specialty Hospital as Manager of Clinical Services.
The bridegroom graduated from Southern High School. He is employed by Eck Supply Company as an outside salesman.
