GREENSBORO -- Jane Allison Burnett and Brenton Lohr Smith were married icon Saturday evening at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. The Rev. Christopher East officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Brooks Burnett of Greensboro. She is a graduate of Page High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been presented by the Debutante Club of Greensboro and the Terpsichorean Club of North Carolina. She is the supervisor of national television sales promotions for the American Broadcasting Company in New York City.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Moyer Gray Smith of Chapel Hill. He is a graduate of Chapel Hill High School and UNC. He also received a master's in business administration from UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School. He is the vice president of international equity sales for Credit Suisse First Boston in New York City.

The maids of honor were the bride's sisters, Catherine Halliburton Burnett and Elizabeth Brooks Burnett, both of New York City. The bridesmaids were Frances Barrett Austell of Winston-Salem; Deborah Brereton Barbier of Columbia, S.C.; Julianna Carder Smith of High Point, sister-in-law of the groom; Catherine Wood Loftin of Chapel Hill; Hilburn Banner Michel of Greensboro; Elizabeth Alderman Smith of Atlanta; Margaret McLanahan Stanton of Atlanta; and Caroline Shaffer Vroon of Atlanta. The bride's cousins, Star Elizabeth Allen and John Turner Allen, both of Sarasota, Fla., served as greeters.

The best man was the groom's father. The groomsmen were Thomas Mente Benjamin of New Orleans; Anthony Walter Graziano III of Alexandria, Va.; Barry Eugene Hancock of Dallas, Texas; David Milton Hicks Jr. of London, U.K.; James Hoyle Kepley Jr. of Lexington, uncle of the groom; Moyer Gray Smith Jr. of High Point, brother of the groom; William Henry Toler III of Atlanta; and Gordon Richardson Watt III of Atlanta. The groom's cousin, Sarah Elizabeth Kepley of Lexington, as well as his nephews, Moyer Gray Smith III, Jordan Alexander Smith and Taylor Boyd Smith, all of High Point, served as greeters.

A reception was held at the Greensboro Country Club following the ceremony. A rehearsal dinner at the country club was hosted the evening before by the groom's parents.

Following a wedding trip to Mauritius and South Africa, the couple will make their home in New York City.

The bride is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The groom is employed with UNC.

A private reception will be held today in Chapel Hill.

The couple took a wedding trip in the Smoky Mountains and they will make their home in Chapel Hill.

WILMINGTON -- Carrie O'Brien Durham and Garrett Lee Knapp were married icon Sept. 16 at St. Andrews on the Sound Episcopal Church in Wilmington. The Rev. Levin Lake officiated at the double-ring ceremony, assisted by Walton Pettit.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Coy Edward Durham Jr. of Chapel Hill and Mrs. James L. Roberts of Wrightsville Beach. She is the grand-daughter of Julia L. Durham and the late Coy Edward Durham of Chapel Hill. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Metropolitan State College of Denver, Colo., and is a store manager for Blockbuster.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Louis Knapp of Denver, Colo. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Knapp and Eva Faltz, both of Denver. He plans to graduate this semester from Metropolitan State.

Maid of honor was Mary Hamlin Womble of Wrightsville Beach, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Virginia Fletcher Womble of Raleigh, cousin of the bride; and Jennifer Ann Knapp and Robin Kristine Knapp, both of Parker, Colo., and sisters-in-law of the groom. The junior bridesmaid was Kristin Kay Durham of Chapel Hill, cousin of the bride.

Best man was Justin Aaron Vean of Denver, Colo. Groomsmen were Sean Louis Knapp and Jason Jeffrey Knapp, both of Parker, Colo., and brothers of the groom; Coy Edward Durham III of Hampton-Sydney, Va., brother of the bride; and Kolin Mark Knapp of Nichols Hill, Okla., cousin of the groom.

Flower girl was Ellen Tate Roberts of Wilmington. Ring bearer was Edward Dane Durham of Chapel Hill, both cousins of the bride.

Acolyte for the ceremony was Benjamin Wade Womble of Carrboro, cousin of the bride.

Following the ceremony attendees participated in a monarch butterfly release in the garden of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

A reception was held at Sunspree Resort in Wrightsville Beach.

Following a honeymoon trip to Beaufort, N.C., the couple will live in Denver, Colo.

CHAPEL HILL -- Lanny and Ellie Tucker celebrated their 40th anniversary Aug. 12 with a renewal of their wedding vows at the University United Community Church of Chapel Hill.

The couple has lived in Chapel Hill for 30 years.

The Rev. Charlie Kast officiated at the service. Attendants were the couple's three children, Scott Tucker, Sasha T. Gallis and Lara T. Cottrell. Laja Quinn Cottrell was flower girl.

Trish and Tony Galifano and Robbie Link provided a medley of songs from the 1960s. A reception and dancing to the Swing City Band followed the service.

The double-ring ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Eugenia Althen, mother of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Eugenia Althen of Bay, Mo., and Donald and Suzanne Althen of Glencoe, Mo. She is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology and received bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry. She is a chemist.

The groom is the son of Karen and Kenneth Korach of Chapel Hill. He is a graduate of Chapel Hill High School. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is finishing a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering at Northwestern University.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Maid of honor was Julie Yeagle of Atlanta, Ga. The bridesmaids were Jennifer Ongley of Oceanside, Calif., and Angela Althen of Karlsruhe, Germany, both sisters of the bride.

The flowergirls were Morgan Ongley, Isabel Althen and Chloe Lazar.

Best man was Steven Benyas of Chapel Hill, friend of the groom. The groomsman was Eric Rivers of Atlanta, Ga.

Lance Lazar of Chapel Hill performed flute music during the ceremony. He is the uncle of the groom.

A reception was held following the wedding at Kimball Hall in Roswell, Ga.

Following a wedding trip to the Hawaiian Islands of Kauai, the couple plans to reside in Chicago, Ill.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barron C. Housel of Chapel Hill. She is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and is a program assistant for the Public Administration Program at UNC.

The groom is the son of Virginia A. Bunt of Spring Hill, Fla., and the late Gerard Hynes. He is a graduate of UNC and is a financial advisor for VALIC/American General.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Maid of honor was Christine Housel, and the matron of honor was Sherry Coggin. The bridesmaids were Holly Borham, Joanna Breault, Arianna Smith and Stephanie Spies.

Best man was Frank Dentrone. The groomsmen were Mark Housel, Matthew Hynes, Nicholas Mattera, Collin Messer and James Geraghty.

Music was provided by Mary Frances Boyce on violin, Stephanie Gralow on flute, Jane Salemson on cello, Angela Woodcock on piano, and soloist Arianna Smith on clarinet.

A reception was held following the ceremony at the Searle Center in Durham.

Following a honeymoon to the West Caribbean, the couple plans to reside in Carrboro.

The bride is the daughter of Nancy Joyce Sanks of Hillsborough and Douglas William Sanks of Lewisburg, W.Va. She is a graduate of UNC with both bachelor's and master's degrees. She is a kindergarten teacher at New Hope Elementary School.

The groom is the son of Carole Mull Park and the late Harry James Park Jr. of Salisbury. He received a bachelor's degree from N.C. State University and is a store manager with CJ Woodmaster.

Maid of honor was Carolyn Wilson of Chapel Hill. The matron of honor was Dawn Sanks of Durham. The bridal attendants were Leslie Park and Tracy Kluttz, both of Salisbury, and Kimberly Szymansky of Jacksonville.

The best man was Jeremy Park of Salisbury. The groomsmen were Eric Sanks of Chapel Hill, Danny McComas of Salisbury, and Daniel McComas and Andrew Hoffman, both of Charlotte.

The flower girl was Sarah Critch and the honorary ring-bearer was Gannon Critch, both of Cary.

The ring attendant was Amy Cockrell of Hillsborough. Program attendants were Melissa Conrad of Chapel Hill and Laura Lamberson of Hillsborough.

A reception was held following the ceremony at the Carolina Club in Chapel Hill.

Following a honeymoon to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Durham.

The groom is the son of G. Patrick and Judy Andrews Guiteras of Chapel Hill. He is a graduate of Amherst College and is a research associate at New York Federal Reserve.

Maids of honor were Lisa Lajes, sister of the bride, and Mary Guiteras, sister of the groom.

The bridesmaids were Laura Loyola of Phoenix, Ariz., and Alegra Eroy-Reveles of Los Angeles, Calif.

Best man was Andrew Tobias Lane Guiteras, brother of the groom.

The groomsmen were Jason Ross of Washington, D.C., Andrew Logan of Gloucester, Mass., Stephen Morrow of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Adam Wolf of Roslyn, N.Y.

A reception was held at San Juan Grand Beach Resort and Casino in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico.

Following the ceremony, the couple took a wedding trip to the Island of Culebra, Puerto Rico.

The couple plans to reside in New York City.
