Johnson Anniversary

Martie and Cecil Johnson of Umstead Road, Durham celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 31 at a gathering.
Hosts were their children. The couple has three children: Sherrie Johnson of Miami; Jana and Mitch Hunter of Los Angeles and Skip and Jodianne Johnson of Charlotte. They have two grandchildren: Merritt and Hayes Johnson of Charlotte.

Wingate Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Willie Marshall Wingate of Durham, NC celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 7, 2002.

She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ricks Branch of Raeford, NC and the late Mr. Ricks Branch and Mrs. Frances Branch; Ms. Rosie Allen of Charlotte; and Mr. Charles Fennewald of Warrensburg, MO. The groom is the son of Ms. Janet McLamb of Chapel Hill, NC and the late Mr. Charles Harold McLamb. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McLamb and Ms. Mary Barbour, all of Fayetteville, NC and Durwood Hudson of Falcon, NC.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a custom made, satin strapless gown. She carried a bouquet of cream colored vandella roses accented with pink baby sweetheart roses.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Erin Swearingen and best man was Mr. Tony Gore. Bridesmaids were Miss Kendall Bain, Mrs. Debbie Bolick, Mrs. Kim Branch, sister - in - law of the bride; Mrs. Tamara Garlow, sister of the bride; Mrs. Rebecca Jones and Mrs. Andrea Matoska. The junior bridesmaid was Miss Taylor Garlow and the flower girls were Miss Cassidy Branch and Miss Kennedy Garlow, all nieces of the bride. Groomsmen were Mr. Greg Branch, brother of the bride; Mr. Travis Gore, Mr. Nathan McLamb, brother of the groom; Mr. Herman Naftel, Mr. Heath Petty and Mr. Josh Ward. The junior groomsman was Kyle Branch and the ring bearer was Nicholas Branch, both nephews of the bride.
After a honeymoon to Ixtapa, Mexico, the couple will reside in Austin, Texas.
