The Rev. Patrick Perryman officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott C. Nanney of Kings Mountain and Danny A. Huss of Dallas.

She is the granddaughter of Edith Crane, John Huss, the late Floyd Wellman and the late Jennie Huss.

She is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and attended Gaston College.

She is employed by Capital Investment Brokerage Inc. in Gastonia.

The bridegroom is the son of Tanya S. Phillips of Gastonia and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Dean Phillips Sr. of Clover, S.C.

He is the grandson of Ella Mae Stowe, John Henry Smith Sr., Naoma Phillips Badger, the late Lois Nolene Phillips and the late H.B. Phillips.

He is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and is employed by Pike Electric Co. in Charlotte.

Danny A. Huss and Scott C. Nanney gave the bride in marriage.

Christine Elizabeth Hall of Charlotte was the maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Jennifer H. Pope of Statesville, Susan C. Tomberlin of Gastonia, Kimberly D. Bennett of Lenexa, Kan., and Toscha Stinnett of Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Logan Cochran of Gastonia was the flower girl.

Austin Huss of Statesville was the ring bearer.

Jerry Dean Phillips Jr. of Gastonia was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Brent Huss of Statesville, and John Henry Smith, Josh Stowe and Jeremy Smith, all of Gastonia.

A reception was held at Courtyard by Marriott following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Chipper’s Restaurant, hosted by the groom’s mother.

Following a western Caribbean cruise, the couple will live in Bessemer City.

Hall-Patel

Shetal Jay Patel and Mark Allen Hall, both of Gastonia, were married icon on June 1, 2002 at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

The Rev. Dickie Spargo officiated the 6 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Jay Patel of Gastonia and the late Nanduben Patel.

She is a graduate of Ashbrook High School and is employed by Sprint LD in Charlotte.

The bridegroom is the son of Shirley Hayes of Dallas and the late Leon Webb.

He is a graduate of East Gaston High School and is a volunteer at Stanley Fire Dept.

He is employed by Pike Electric in Fort Mill, S.C.

Jay Patel gave his daughter in marriage.

Christina Hayes of Mount Holly was the matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Andrea Argosinger of Iowa, Lisa Patel of Maryland and Hazel Hayes and April Lynch, both of Gastonia.

Kelsey Hayes of Mount Holly was the flower girl.

Kaleb Lynch of Gastonia was the ring bearer.

Brad Jenkins of Albemarle was the best man.

Groomsmen were Manish Patel of Gastonia, Maynak Patel of Maryland, Jesse Morten of Belmont and Bobby Morton of Stanley.

A reception was held at Sur Williams in Dallas following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s father and stepmother.

A rehearsal dinner was held at VFW in Stanley, hosted by the groom’s mother.

Following a trip to Jamaica, the couple will live in Gastonia.

Harris-Murphy

Kristie Hope Murphy and William Bryan Harris, both of Gastonia, were married icon on May 18, 2002 at the home of the bride’s mother.

The Rev. John Bridges officiated the 1 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ann Nance of Gastonia.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Hicks of Maryville, Tenn., Roy C. Murphy of Alcoa, Tenn., and the late Annie Lee Murphy.

She is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and is employed by CaroMont Medical Group.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Harris.

He attended Clover High School and is employed by Coating 2000.

Tony L. Murphy and James D. Murphy gave their sister in marriage.

Jennifer Murphy of Mineral Spring was the matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Donna Harris and Theresa Sadler, both of Clover.

Haleigh Skinner of Pageland, S.C., was the miniature bride.

Sawyer Murphy of Mineral Springs was the miniature groom.

Timmy Harris of Clover was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Kevin Strong of Florida and Henry Alvarez of Clover.

A reception was held following the ceremony, hosted by the groom’s parents.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bride’s mother.

The couple honeymooned in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and now lives in Gastonia.

Houser-Barber

Heather Celeste Barber of Gastonia and Tommy Lee Houser Jr. of Lincolnton were married icon on Nov. 30, 2002 at Firestone Wesleyan Church.

The Rev. Wesley Brown officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Nolan Barber of Gastonia.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Earl Barber, the late Jacqueline Shubert Rose and the late Charles Fitzhugh Rose Jr.

She is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and Appalachian State University, where she was a member of the Campus Resident Student Association and the National Residence Hall Honorary. She is employed by the Gastonia Police Dept.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Lee Houser.

He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Charlie Brown, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Forest Lee Houser.

He is a graduate of West Lincoln High School and is employed by the N.C. Dept. of Corrections.

Perry Nolan Barber gave his daughter in marriage. Heather VonCanon of Charlotte was the maid of honor.

Jennifer Baker of Charlotte was the matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Jennifer Barber of Mayo, S.C., Jennifer Brannock of Boone, Jennifer Goodwin of Gastonia, Anna Holmes of Raleigh, Pam Houser of Vale and Sunny Houser of Lincolnton.

Tommy Lee Houser and Tommy "Trey" L. Houser III were the best men. Groomsmen were Charles Barber and Jerry Thomas, both of Gastonia, Brian Biggerstaff of Mount Holly, Michael Houser of Vale, Robin Houser of Lincolnton and Ronnie Ledford of Kings Mountain.

A reception was held at The City Club following the ceremony.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Hillbilly’s Barbecue, hosted by the groom’s parents.

The couple honeymooned in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and now lives in Lincolnton.

Locust-Starnes

Teresa Lynn Starnes and James Edward Locust, both of Gastonia, were married icon on Oct. 5, 2002 at Restoration South Church of God.

Pastor Bart Stone officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mary Wood and James Anthony Starnes, both of Gastonia.

The bridegroom is the son of Rose Mary Brook of Gastonia and the grandson of Betty Freedel.

Mark Starnes gave his sister in marriage. Charlene Radford of Gastonia was the maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Lisa Brook, Tracy Runyan and Tabatha Young, all of Gastonia. Ashley Willis was the flower girl. Chris Willis and James Locust II were ring bearers.

Frank Radford of Gastonia was the best man. Groomsmen were Steven Black, Toby Black, Robbie Brandon and Eric Brooks, all of Gastonia.

A reception was hosted by the groom’s mother.

The couple honeymooned in Cherokee, and now lives in Gastonia.

Monica Leigh Pennington of Gastonia and Thomas Edward Doby of Shelby were married icon on Dec. 7, 2002 at Elegant Beginnings Wedding Chapel.

The Rev. Michael B. Steen officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Hanna of Belmont, and the granddaughter of Ruth Fair of Gastonia and the late Paul Fair.

She is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and UNC Charlotte.

She is employed by the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office.

The bridegroom is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Doby.

He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Doby.

He is a graduate of Northside Christian Academy and Gardner-Webb University.

He is employed by the Gastonia Police Dept.

Hubert Hanna gave his daughter in marriage. Julie Scott of Gastonia was the matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Mary Green, Julie Stillwell, Dawn Lemmond and Michelle Hoffman, all of Gastonia, Lisa Furr of Clover, S.C., and Brittany Platt of Kings Mountain. Morgan Hoffman of Gastonia and Caroline Hartman of Shelby were flower girls.

Robert Bryson Jr. of Kings Mountain was the ring bearer.

Jeff Ford of Kings Mountain was the best man. Groomsmen were Robert Bryson of Kings Mountain, John Kaiser, Michael Agerton and Chris Green, all of Gastonia, Ronnie Bozardt of Charlotte and Robert Barr of Shelby.

A reception was held at the chapel following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents.

A rehearsal dinner was held at the chapel, hosted by the groom.

Following a trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple will live in Shelby.

Tucker-Savage

Sarah Elizabeth Savage of Bessemer City and Joseph Mark Tucker of Gastonia were married icon on Dec. 28, 2002 at Yorkwood Church of God in Gastonia.

The Rev. Bobby Smith and the groom’s grandfather, Dr. Eldon Tucker, officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. "Sonny" Savage of Bessemer City.

She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Carswell, and the late Mr. and Mrs. P.G. Savage.

She is a graduate of Bessemer City High School and Barbizon Modeling Academy, and is an admissions director at Barbizon Modeling of Charlotte.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Tucker of Gastonia.

He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tanner of Gastonia, and Dr. and Mrs. Eldon Tucker of Clinton, S.C.

He is a graduate of Victory Christian Academy and attended Emmanuel College, Limestone College and UNC-Greensboro.

He is a general manager with American Replacement Service.

Sonny Savage gave his daughter in marriage. The bride’s sister, Rebecca Savage of Kings Mountain, was the maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Tosha Janz, Amanda Dunn, Wendy Crouse and Megan Blanton, all of Charlotte, Dawn Costner of Clover, S.C., and Cassie Godfrey and Erica Smith, both of Gastonia.

Mark Tucker was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were David Tucker of Columbus, Ohio, Jonathan Savage of Lincolnton, Chris Tanner, Brandon Smith and Jordan Paris, all of Gastonia, Jonathan Huffstetler of Charlotte, Brian McMurry of Fort Hood, Texas, Shane Moore of Raleigh and Michael Wooten of Cleveland, Tenn.

A reception was held at the Bobby Smith Life Center following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Union Road Church of God, hosted by the groom’s parents.

The couple will live in Gastonia.
