The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ruhlman of Gastonia. She is the granddaughter of Virginia Nell Hawkins of Cramer Mountain. She is a graduate of Harvest Christian Academy.

The bridegroom is the son of Judy Valentine of Gastonia and Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Lovelace Sr. of Kings Mountain. He is the grandson of Geraldine Moore of Kings Mountain and Calvin Flowers of Stockbridge, Ga. He is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and is employed by Active USA.

Rick Love gave his sister in marriage. Jenny Wilson of Gastonia was the matron of honor. Ashleigh Lovelace was the flower girl.

Richard H. Lovelace Sr. was his son’s best man. Tommy Wilson of Gastonia was an usher.

A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents following the ceremony, hosted by the couple’s parents. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bride’s parents at their home.

The couple honeymooned in Las Vegas.

Daves-Hayes

Alyson Nicole Hayes of Gastonia and Matthew Eugene Daves of Oak Island were married icon on June 2, 2001 at First Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne Wike and Father George Kloster officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lee Hayes of Gastonia. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Ashmore of Greenville, S.C., and Mrs. William Ray Hayes of Wellford, S.C. She is a graduate of Ashbrook High School and N.C. State University and was presented at the 1997 Debutante Ball. She is employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Eugene Daves of Oak Island and the grandson of Mrs. Thomas Arthur Mickle of Asheville. He is a graduate of Ashbrook High School and N.C. State University. He is employed by United Engineering Group.

Wayne L. Hayes gave his daughter in marriage. Meredith Gail Daves of Oak Island was the maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Anna Cardina Braswell of Salisbury, Kristin Kelly Paige of Greenville and Jennifer Jean Palmer of Washington, D.C.

John E. Daves was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Bradley John Daves of Apex, Brett Emerson Fortune of Charlotte and Phillip Wayne Hayes of Washington, D.C.

A reception was held at Cramer Mountain Country Club following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents. A rehearsal dinner was held at Stowe Manor, hosted by the bridegroom’s parents.

Following a trip to Maui, Hawaii, the couple will live in Apex.

Hutchins-Rochelle

Debbie Ballard Rochelle and Kermit Lee Hutchins Jr., both of Clover, S.C., were married icon on May 5, 2001 at Charleston Chapel for Weddings in Charleston, S.C. The Rev. Gene Dillard officiated the 6:30 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Lola M. Ballard of Stanley and the late J.P "Doc" Ballard. She is employed by Eckerd Drug.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Lee Hutchins Sr. of Bessemer City. He is employed by Duke Energy.

Bobby Clark of Clover gave the bride in marriage. Rose J. Perry of Topsail Island was the maid of honor. Billy Stone of Gastonia was the best man.

A post-wedding dinner was held at 82 Queens following the ceremony, hosted by Mr.a nd Mrs. Bill Stone and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Clark.

The couple honeymooned in Key West, Fla., and now lives in Stanley.

Doubledee-Lail

Amanda Maryann Lail and Aaron Matthew Doubledee, both of Gastonia, were married icon on May 26, 2001 at Linwood Church of God. The Rev. R. Michael Bare officiated the 1 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Herms of Gastonia and Luther Lail of Clover, S.C. She is the granddaughter of Betty Bare of Gastonia and the late Robert D. Bare and Mason Strickland of Gastonia and the late Gertrude Strickland. She is a graduate of Forestview High School and Gaston College.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Gulledge of Gastonia and John Doubledee of Cypress, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Rice, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Doubledee and Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Gulledge. He is a graduate of Living Heritage Academy and Gaston College. He is employed by Milliken Corp.

Dianah Bare Herms gave her daughter in marriage. Elizabeth Freeman of Gastonia was the maid of honor. The bride’s sister, Julie Wright of Mount Holly, and the groom’s sister, Mishael Lail of Gastonia, were matrons of honor.

Bridesmaids were Trisha Bare of Ranlo, Athena Cook of Polkville and Kelli Bare of Gastonia. Katie Wilson of Gastonia was the flower girl. The groom’s brother, Daniel Gulledge of Gastonia, was the ring bearer.

Donnie Guilledge was his stepson’s best man. Groomsmen were David, Michael and Brandon Holiday, all of Shelby, the bride’s brother, Patrick Lail of Gastonia and Phillip Cook of Polkville.

A reception was held at the church following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents. A rehearsal dinner hosted by the bridegroom’s parents.

The couple honeymooned in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and now lives in Gastonia.

The bride is the daughter of Rusty and Cindy Ennis and Jimmy and Lori Pearson, all of Gastonia. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Summit of Bessemer City, Gladys Hall and Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Pearson, all of Ranlo, and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Ennis of Mount Holly. She is a graduate of East Gaston High School and is employed by Riverbend Chiropractic in Mount Holly.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Addis of Gastonia. He is a graduate of North Gaston High School and is employed by Gaston Music & Pawn.

Rusty Ennis gave his stepdaughter in marriage. Vienna Inthirathuongsy of Rhode Island was the maid of honor. Dawn Parker of Clover, S.C., was the matron of honor.

Following a trip to Daytona, Fla., the couple will live in Gastonia.

Morris-Howell

The bride is the daughter of Virginia Howell of Gastonia and the late William "Buddy" Howell. She is the granddaughter of Ollie Gregory and the late Edward Gregory. She is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and attends Belmont Abbey College, where she served on the student council for the adult degree program. She is employed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

The bridegroom is the son of Ada Morris and Charles Thompson, both of Bluefield, W.Va. He is the grandson of Mae Lewis of Bluefield and the late Oscar Lewis. He is a graduate of Bluefield High School and Bluefield State University. He is employed by YMCA of Greater Charlotte.

Mark Howell gave his sister in marriage. Lisa H. Brooks of Gastonia was the matron of honor. Maria H. Stukes of Atlanta, Ga., was the maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Andrea H. Setzer of Dallas, Sandra H. Wright and Drennan Rhyne-Guthrie, both of Charlotte, Beth M. Caffee of Hinesville, Ga., and Leslie Beck of Bluefield. Tierra Howell of Gastonia and Tierra Moody of Maryland were flower girls. Brian Brooks was the ring bearer. Jordan Wright was the train bearer. Brandon Wright and Brandon Brooks were carpet bearers.

Michael Collins was the best man. Groomsmen were Jeff Disibbio and Stanford Haden, both of Bluefield, Tyrone Murray of Newport News, Va., Scott Morris of Maryland, Traecole Carr and Lee Brooks, both of Gastonia, Randy Belk of Logan, W.Va., Shannon Townley of Charlotte and Steve Setzer of Dallas.

A reception was held at Stowe Botanical Garden following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s mother. A rehearsal dinner was held at the church, hosted by the groom’s mother.

Following a trip to Waikola, Hawaii, the couple will live in Charlotte.

Farrar-Davis

Rebecca Frances Davis and Albert Austin Farrar IV, both of Gastonia, were married icon on Dec. 8, 2001 at Firestone Wesleyan Church. The Rev. Tim Clark and the Rev. Raymond Phaup officiated the 6 p.m.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Davis of Gastonia. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rommie R. Carpenter of Kings Mountain and the late Mr. and Mrs. Palmer M. Davis Sr. She is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and attended Gaston College. She is a graduate of UNC Charlotte and is employed by Time Warner Cable in Charlotte.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert A. Farrar III of Gastonia. He is the grandson of Ross B. Cox of Mount Holly and the late Lottie Smith Cox, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert A. Farrar Jr. He is a graduate of Ashbrook High School and Gaston College.

Richard L. Davis gave his daughter in marriage. Pam L. Thomas of Studio City, Calif., was the maid of honor. Charlotted P. Helton of Gastonia was the matron of honor.

Dana F. Adams of Belmont was a bridesmaid. Junior bridesmaids were Ashley Adams of Belmont and Caitlyn Carpenter of Alexis.

Leazer-Harrison

Emily Dawn Harrison of Gastonia and Christopher Bradley Leazer of Salisbury were married icon on Dec. 8, 2001 at First United Methodist Church in Gastonia. Dr. James R. Westmoreland officiated the 7 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Richard Harrison of Gastonia. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Holland of High Point, Robert Cannon of Thomasville and the late Rebecca Harrison Cannon, and the late J. Richard Harrison Sr. She is a graduate of Bowling Green High School and UNC-Chapel Hill. She earned a joint degree in law and business administration from Campbell University and an LLM in taxation from Villanova University. She is a member of Gaston County, North Carolinan and American Bar associations, Western-Piedmont Estate Planning Council and the Junior League of Gaston County. She is a certified public accountant and an attorney with Gray, Layton, Kersh, Solomon, Sigmon, Furr & Smith, P.A.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Monroe Leazer of Faith. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. David Fraley of Faith and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Leazer. He is a graduate of East Rowan High School and UNC Charlotte. He earned a master’s degree from UNC Charlotte and a certified financial planner certification from Florida State University. He is a financial consultant with First Charter Bank in Concord.

J. Richard Harrison gave his daughter in marriage. Jama Howell Harrison of Highlands was the matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Pamela Cloninger Chopko of Clemmons, Elizabeth Buckberry Joyce of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jennifer Taylor Lynch, Katherine Edwards Sanders and Angela Ottinger White, all of Gastonia, Shelly Tatum McClanahan of Raleigh and Kimberly Barringer Witherell of Newton-Conover. Morgan Mackenzie Greene of Lenoir was the junior bridesmaid. Jodi DeHart Pfister of Louisville, Ky., was the honorary bridesmaid. The groom’s niece, Ashlan Elizabeth Leazer, was the flower girl. The groom’s nephew, Timothy Scott Leazer II of Atlanta, Ga., was the ring bearer.

Gary Monroe Leazer was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Allen Brent Blake and Johnathon Wesley Cooper, both of Charlotte, John Patrick Carelas of Kannapolis, Michael Scott Greene of Lenoir, the bride’s brother, Richard Scott Harrison of Highland, Hubert William Leazer of Salisbury, and the groom’s brother, Timothy Scott Leazer of Atlanta. The couple honeymooned in San Francisco and Hawaii, and now lives in Charlotte.
