Remelius-Bell
Crystal Shay Bell and Matthew Stephen Remelius, both of Gastonia, were married
on May 12, 2001 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. The Rev. Ron Caulder officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Wood of Bessemer City and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Bell of Lexington. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Robbs of Kings Mountain, Cathleen Hayes of Grover and the late Jonas Andy Bell. She is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and attends Gaston College. She is employed by Caramont Health Care.
The bridegroom is the son of Steve Remelius of Mount Holly and Mindy Barklage of St. Louis. He is the grandson of Patricia Barklage of St. Louis and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Remelius of Lady Lakes, Fla. He is a graduate of Lindbergh High School and is employed by Gage Pool and Spa.
Chris Bell gave his daughter in marriage. Jennifer Russell of Kings Mountain was the maid of honor. Heather Edwards of Gastonia was the matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Megan Hanford of Mount Holly, Shericka Fox and Tisha Jackson, both of Gastonia, and Mylissa Magana of Greensboro. Perri Bell of Lexington was the flower girl. Cameron Fagala of Gastonia was the ring bearer.
Steve Remelius was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Kenneth Remelius of Lady Lakes, John Cordell of St. Louis, Tim Keener of High Shoals, David Weekly of Belmont and Jonas Bell II of Lexington.
A reception was held at Ramada Limited following the ceremony. A rehearsal dinner was also held at Ramada Limited.
The couple honeymooned in Pompano Beach and Orlando, Fla., and now lives in Gastonia.
Croft-Price
Mary Emily Camp Price of Bessemer City and David Michael Croft of Cherryville were married
on May 19, 2001 at West Franklin Baptist Church in Gastonia. The Rev. Tilly officiated the 6 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Ruby Lee Camp of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and the late Dwight Roy Camp. She is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and Gaston College. She is employed by Tyco Electronics.
The bridegroom is the son of Betty James Croft of Bessemer City and the late Albert J. Croft. He is a graduate of Bessemer City High School and Cisco Junior College. He is also employed by Tyco Electronics.
Clint M. Price of Bessemer City gave his mother in marriage. The bride’s daughter, Megan Price of Bessemer City, was the maid of honor.
Sarah Neunzig of Dallas was the honorary bridesmaid. Flower girls were Amber Croft of Bessemer City and Savannah and Sierra Croft of Cherryville. Matthew Croft of Bessemer City and Jessie Croft of Cherryville were ring bearers.
James Wylie of Bessemer City was the best man. Groomsmen were Terry Ramsey of Gastonia, and the bride’s nephew, Joshua Jarvis of Dallas. Sheila Wylie of Bessemer City was the registrar. Georgette Wylie of Bessemer City was the soloist. Robin Scruggs of Gastonia was the pianist.
A reception was held at the church following the ceremony, hosted by Lisa Braswell of Gastonia, LeeAnne Jarvis of Dallas and Heather Stout of Bessemer City.
The couple now lives in Bessemer City.
McCreight-Pearson
Rebecca Ann Pearson and David Ray McCreight, both of Kings Mountain, were married
on April 2, 2001 at Country Time Assisted Living. The Rev. Rex Adkins officiated the 7 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the stepdaughter of Corrinne Raxter, and the daughter of the late Daisy Young Hayward and the late Raxter Hayward. She is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and is employed as a dental assistant.
The bridegroom is the son of Carlos McCreight and the late Ruby Clark McCreight. He attended Ashley High School and is retired from the Department of Transportation.
Corrinne Raxter gave her stepdaughter in marriage. Jeraline Raxter of Gastonia was the honor attendant.
Bridesmaids were Bernice Hughes and Edna Sholtis, both of Kings Mountain.
Jerry Scruggs of Kings Mountain was his brother-in-law’s best man.
A reception was held following the ceremony, hosted by the couple’s friends and families.
The couple lives at Country Time Assisted Living.
Moose-Best
Gina Leigh Best of Gastonia and Marvin Clyde Moose III of Lowell were married
on May 12, 2001 at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church. Dr. Ivester Warner Doles and the Rev. Kenneth Faulkinberry officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Best and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Padgett, all of Gastonia. She is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School, Gaston College and Gaston Memorial School of Radiologic Technology. She is employed by Caramont Health Care.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Moose Jr. of Gastonia. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Goodson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Moose. He is a graduate of North Gaston High School and attended Gaston College. He is employed by the City of Gastonia.
Thomas Best gave his daughter in marriage. Laurie Allred of Dallas and Christy Usery of Lowell were matrons of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jennifer Best of Bessemer City and Katie and Mikaela Moose, both of Lowell. Kelsey Best of Bessemer City was the flower girl. Thor Haskins of Gastonia was the ring bearer.
Marvin Moose Jr. was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Brad Best of Bessemer City and Adam Conley, and Steve and Darrell Colvard, all of Gastonia.
A reception was held at the church following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents. A rehearsal dinner was held at Carolina Country Barbecue, hosted by the bridegroom’s parents.
Following a trip to the Bahamas, the couple will live in Lowell.

Jennie Darlene Redding and Douglas Alexander Gilmer, both of Charlotte, were married

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence L. Redding of Stanley and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rhyne of Gastonia. She is a graduate of East Gaston High School and Appalachian State University. She attended Gaston College and is employed by First Union National Bank.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gilmer of Charlotte. He is the grandson of Mrs. R.M. Alexander of Clanton, Ala., and the late Robert Alexander and Mrs. Gray Gilmer of Vernon, Ala., and the late Gray Gilmer. He is a graduate of Fayetteville Terry Sanford High School and UNC-Wilmington. He is employed by Ferguson Supply & Box Manufacturing.
Roy Redding gave his daughter in marriage. Sue H. Hunnings of Savannah, Ga., was the matron of honor.

A reception was held at Pine Lake Country Club following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents. A rehearsal dinner was held at Pine Lake Country Club, hosted by the bridegroom’s parents.
The couple honeymooned in Nassau, Bahamas, and now lives in Charlotte.
Pressley-Gates
Cornelia Gates of Dallas and Eddie Lee Pressley of Mount Holly were married
on June 2, 2001 at Alexis Baptist Church. The Rev. Kerry Ohiser officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Doris Gates of Dallas and the late Larry Gates. She is a graduate of East Gaston High School and is employed by Mutual of Omaha.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Gibby of Mount Holly and the late Carl Pressley. He is a graduate of East Gaston High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He is employed by Gaston Electronics.
Randy Gates gave his sister in marriage. Camilla Weathers was the matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Crystal Gates and Christine Weathers. Tiffany Gates was the flower girl. Justin Holland was the ring bearer.

Following a trip to Hawaii, the couple will live in Mount Holly.

Sonni Ashlyn May of Charlotte and Telly Keith Sly of Greenville were married
on May 26, 2001 at Dover Chapel at Gardner-Webb University. The Rev. Ray Hardee officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louie A. May of Charlotte. She is the granddaughter of Esther C. Greene of Shelby and the late Hubert L. Greene and Ruth S. May of Lenoir and the late Charlie A. May. She is a graduate of Myers Park High School and Gardner-Webb University, where she was a member of Psi Chi sorority and the dean’s list. She attends GWU and is employed by Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald K. Sly of Greenville. He is the grandson Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Sawyer of Maple Hill, Catherine Sly of Richlands and the late Lowell D. Sly. He is a graduate of J.H. Rose High School and Gardner-Webb University, where he was a member of the football team and Who’s Who Among Colleges & Universities. He is employed by Cintas Corp.

A reception was held at Cleveland Country Club following the ceremony, hosted by the bride’s parents. A rehearsal dinner was held at Lakeside Clubhouse, Gardner-Webb University, hosted by family friends, Joyce Gill, Eileen Pata and Joyce Skaradzinski.
The couple honeymooned in Maui, Hawaii, and now lives in Mount Holly.

The bridegroom is the son of Pamela P. Redmon of Hickory Grove, S.C., and W. Daniel Coleman of Jacksonville, Fla. He is the grandson of Lillie Poole of Gastonia and Mr. and Mrs. W. Spencer Coleman of Bessemer City. He is a graduate of Ashbrook High School and Appalachian State University. He is employed by The Golf Shop.

Following a trip to Hawaii, the couple will live in Charlotte.

She is the granddaughter of Mr.a nd Mrs. Ervin Peeler and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Freeman, all of Lincolnton, Betty Saine of Cherryville and Mr. and Mrs. John Humphries of Gastonia. She is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and Gaston College. She attends UNC Charlotte and is employed by Gaston County Schools.
The bridegroom is the son of Ella Mae Sustar and Herman Lee Stowe Jr., both of Gastonia. He is the grandson of Ann Wiley of Lake Wylie, S.C., the late Herman "Bud" Stowe and the late Rev. H.D. Sustar. He is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and Gaston College and is employed by WKKT and WRFX radio stations.
