The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bruce Armstrong of Gastonia. She is the granddaughter of Bill Martin of Cramerton and the late Marie Crisp Martin, the late Marie Laws Martin and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Hayes Armstrong Sr. She is a graduate of Ashbrook High School and attended Gaston College and Lucas Travel School. She is employed by Crown Line Travel Inc.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Nathan Thrower Jr. of Gastonia. He is the grandson of Mrs. John Arthur Marsh Jr. of High Point and the late John Arthur Marsh Jr. and Mrs. William Nathan Thrower Sr. of Belmont and the late William Nathan Thrower Sr. He is a graduate of Ashbrook High School and USC-Columbia, where he was a member of Chi Epsilon, National Civil Engineering honor society and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is employed by Geoscience Group Inc.

Bruce Armstrong gave his daughter in marriage. The bride’s sister, Brook Armstrong of Gastonia, was the maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Emily Aaron of Sylva, Laurie Denton of Cramerton, Mary Marsh Hayden and Stacey Lovin, both of Gastonia, and Dana Wolfe of Bessemer City. Leah Byrum of Kings Mountain was the flower girl.

Bill Thrower was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Jason Brannock, Blair Foster and Zac Lentz, both of Charlotte, Preston Cherry of Davidson, Harry Hayden and Danny Hite, both of Gastonia, and Jonathan McDaniel of Kings Mountain.

A reception was given by the bride’s parents at the Schiele Museum following the ceremony. A rehearsal dinner was given by the bridegroom’s parents at The City Club.

Following a trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will live in Belmont.

Chupp-Abernathy

Tangela Dawn Abernathy and Grady Jason Chupp, both of Kings Mountain, were married icon on Aug. 12, 2000 at Loray Baptist Church. The Rev. John Bridges officiated the 6 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Abernathy of Bessemer City. She is the granddaughter Vada Abernathy of Bessemer City and the late David G. Abernathy and Ida Lackey of Gastonia and the late Carl Lackey. She is a graduate of Bessemer City High School and attends Gaston College.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Chupp of Bessemer City and the grandson of Vena Johnson and the late Jesse Chupp. He is a graduate of Bessemer City High School and attended Gaston College. He is employed by Duke Power.

Sandra Abernathy gave her daughter in marriage. Jennifer Ibison of Lincolnton was the matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Rhonda Colvard and DeAnna Roper, both of Gastonia.

Alexandra Johnson was the flower girl. Sherman Norton was the ring bearer.

James Chupp was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Jess Chupp of Dallas and Shawn Abernathy of Bessemer City.

A reception was given by the couple at the church following the ceremony.

Following a trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., the couple will live in Kings Mountain.

Payseur-Crowley

Jacqueline Nicole Crowley and Jason Matthew Payseur, both of Gastonia, were married icon on Aug. 5, 2000 at New Hope Baptist Church. The Rev. Ned A. Buckner and Rev. Robert D. Thompson officiated the 5 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Eva Crowley of Mount Holly and Mr. Dan Crowley of Newton. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Phillips of South Amherst, Ohio, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crowley of Vincennes, Ind. She is a graduate of South Point High School and attended UNC-Charlotte. She is employed by Flores and Associates.

The bridegroom is the son of Ms. Debra Payseur of Gastonia and Mr. Johnnie Payseur of Matthews. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Homer K. Crouse and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A. Payseur, all of Gastonia. He is a graduate of Ashbrook High School and attends UNC-Charlotte. He is employed by Southeastern Lawn & Landscaping.

Danny Crowley gave his daughter in marriage. Danielle Leigh Crowley of Mount Holly was the maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Ginger Lee Jones of Belmont, and Tiffany Grant King, Deanne Lela Mathison and Heather Danielle Williams, all of Mount Holly. Haley Brooke Burgin of Mount Holly was the flower girl. Zachary Jordon Queen of Gastonia was the ring bearer.

Jonathan Michael Payseur of Chapel Hill and Justin Mark Payseur of Gastonia were their brother’s best men. Groomsmen were Brandon Scott Beaty and Roy David Thomas III, both of Gastonia, William Clark Burgin of Mount Holly, James John Perros III of Belmont and Justin Stewart Rhyne of Charlotte.

A reception was given by the bride’s parents at the church following the ceremony. A rehearsal dinner was given by the bridegroom’s mother at the church.

Following a trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple will live in Gastonia.

Norris-Maddox

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Norris and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Mitch Norris, all of Kings Mountain. He is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and Fruitland Baptist Bible College. He is employed by Bethany Baptist Church and Cookson Rolling Door.

Larry Maddox gave his daughter in marriage. Emily Foster of Front Royal, Va.,was the honor attendant.

The couple honeymooned in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and now live in Kings Mountain.

Roseboro-Asbury

Margaret Rose Asbury and Breech Anthony Roseboro, both of Gastonia, were married icon on July 29, 2000 at Cupid’s Wedding Chapel. The Rev. Nathaniel C. Jones officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Florine Asbury of York, S.C. She is a graduate of Clover High School.

The bridegroom is the son of Charles Currence and Mary Roseboro, both of Gastonia. He is the grandson of Myrtle Currence and May Emma Robbins, both of Gastonia. He attended Hunter Huss High School and is self-employed.

Bobby Sherer gave the bride in marriage. Nickey Davis of Gastonia was the honor attendant.

Bridesmaids were Amanda Asbury, Terry Knox, Pacilla Barnette, Lavone Asbury, Vickie Currence and Teresa Asbury, all of Gastonia. Amishea Asbury of Gastonia was the flower girl. Anthony Asbury of Gastonia was the ring bearer.

Charles Currence was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Michael Asbury, Lamar Glenn, Lester Currence and Yakotus Currence, all of Gastonia, and Jerry Asbury of York.

A reception was given by the couple at the Lucile Tatum Center following the ceremony.

The couple lives in Gastonia.

Boulware-Love

Sue Kendrick Love and Kevin Dale Boulware, both of Rock Hill, S.C., were married icon on Aug. 5, 2000 at Winthrop University Little Chapel. The Rev. Matthew Horn officiated the 10 a.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Robert Emmett Love Jr. of Spartanburg, S.C., and the late Norma Humphries Love. She is the granddaughter of the late Olive Maxwell Humphries and Charles Hilliard Humphries. She is a graduate of Walhalla Senior High School and Winthrop University. She received her master’s degree from Winthrop University and is a board member of Greater Rock Hill YMCA and Winthrop University Alumni Association. She is employed by Rock Hill Telephone Company.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fewell Boulware Jr. of Sapphire. He is the grandson of the late Frances Pence James and the late John Wesley Lowther Jr. He is a graduate of Northwestern High School and Winthrop Universitym, where he also received his master’s degree.

A reception was given by the couple at the Woman’s Club following the ceremony. A rehearsal party was given by friends of the bride at Hampton Inn.

The couple honeymooned in the mountains, and now lives in Rock Hill.

Harrington-Mills

Cindy Ann Mills and Jerry Fred Harrington, both of Newton, were married icon on July 29, 2000 at Trinity Full Gospel Church. Pastor David Livingston officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mills of Dallas. She is a graduate of East Gaston High School and Gaston College. She is employed by Gaston County EMS.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Duncan of Hickory and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Harrington of Indian Trail. He is the grandson Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Deaton of Cornelius and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harrington of High Point. He is a graduate of Hickory High School and Catawba Valley Community College. He is employed by Lincoln County EMS.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mills gave their daughter in marriage. Tammy Blackwood of Dallas was the matron of honor.

Becky Mills of Stanley was a bridesmaid. Jessica Blackwood of Dallas was the flower girl. Drew Harrington of Newton was the ring bearer.

Jerry Harrington Sr. was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Richie Mills of Stanley, Phillip Raulston and Josh Harrington, both of Charlotte, and Todd Blackwood of Dallas.

The couple honeymooned in Nassau, Bahamas, and now lives in Newton.

Griggs-Goldy

Christine Marie Goldy and Robert Eugene Griggs, both of Gastonia, were married icon on April 1, 2000 at Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church. The Rev. Laura E. Hubbard officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Goldy of Chesapeake, Va. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Papka of Billings, Mont., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Goldy. She is a graduate of Kempsville High School and the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale. She is a member of the Dallas Rescue Squad and is employed by Ludvig Svensson Inc.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Griggs of Gastonia. He is the grandson of Robert Greenway of Gastonia and the late Gloria Greenway and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Griggs of Gastonia. He is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School, attended Gaston College and is a member of the Dallas Rescue Squad. He is employed by Nucare Carolinas and co-owner of Quality Pool of Gaston County.
