at 6 p.m. on July 27, 2002, at St. Thomas Church. The bride’s great-uncle, the Rev. Kenneth M. Johnson, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Ellen Brooks of Pittsboro and H. Richard Redding II of Charlottesville, Va. She is the stepdaughter of Kathy Redding of Charlottesville, Va., and Gene Brooks of Pittsboro. The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Craig Thompkins of Hope Mills.
The bride was escorted by her father. The maid of honor was the bride’s friend, Bree Elizabeth Gandy of Charlotte. The bridesmaids were Katherine Quinn Bohannon of Fairfax, Va., and Lindsey Warren Coble of Charlotte. The ring bearer was the groom’s nephew, Max High of Boiling Springs.
The best man was the groom’s brother, John Craig Thompkins Jr. of Hope Mills. The groomsmen were Jamie Allen Wanner of Durham; Richard Arthur Redding of Charlottesville, Va.; and Brian Kenneth Marshburn Jr. of Garner.
The bride is a graduate of Northern High School in Durham. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. She is a fifth-grade teacher at E. Melvin Honeycutt Elementary School in Fayetteville.
The groom is a graduate of South View High School in Hope Mills. He received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He is a deputy sheriff with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.
After a honeymoon cruise to the Western Caribbean, the couple settled in Hope Mills.

The bride is the daughter of Pamela Locklear of Pembroke and Teddy Britt of White Oak. She is the stepdaughter of Sandra Britt of White Oak and Joseph Locklear of Pembroke. She is the granddaughter of Gladysteen Hester Pait of Bladenboro and Juanita Britt of Lumberton.
The bridegroom’s parents are Betty Bledsoe and Henry Lawson Sr., both of Union, S.C.
The bride wore a white strapless gown accented by handmade bead designs and a detachable train. White sequins adorned the bottom of the gown. She wore a baby-doll veil which featured rhinestones along the veil’s edges and carried a bouquet of lavender and pink tulips accented with six diamond studs.
The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was the bride’s mother. The bridesmaids were Amanda Hunt and Tally Locklear, both of Lumberton, and Misty Lawson of Union, S.C. The flower girl was the bride’s sister, Angel Locklear of Pembroke, and the ring bearer was Cody Hill of Clinton.
The best man was Dana White of Concord. The groomsmen were Tom Cook of Concord and Dicky Smith and Tommy Hill, both of Clinton.
The wedding was directed by Bud Pate of Buds & Blooms in Fairmont. The wedding musicians were violinists Dee and Gayla and pianist Katrina Phillips.
A reception, hosted by Bud Pate, was held at Carolina Steakman in Lumberton after the ceremony.
The bride attended Purnell Swett High School in Pembroke. She is the bookkeeper for Southeastern Outdoor Products in Clinton.
The bridegroom attended Union High School in Union, S.C. He is the co-owner of Southeastern Outdoor Products in Clinton.
After a week-long honeymoon trip to the Sandals Resort in Negril, Jamaica, the couple settled in Turkey.
