OXFORD -- Richard Jeffers, of the Oxford Manor Nursing facility, formerly of Vance County, has died.

John Q. Parham
WARRENTON -- John Q. Parham, 67, of the Inez community, Warrenton, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephen Baptist Church in Inez. The Rev. Junious Debnam, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Jessie Parham of the home; four daughters, Vernita Terry of Warrenton, Camille Parham of Greensboro, Andrea Shannon of Mitchellville, Md., and Taloria Parham of Brunswick, Md.; one son, Ronnie Parham of Warrenton; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Martha Alston and Betty Elzie, both of Washington, D.C.; and one brother, Curtis Parham of Los Angeles, Calif.
The body will be on view today at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel until taken to th church two hours prior to the services.

William F. Plummer
GREENSBORO -- Mr. William Faulkner Plummer, died December 12, 2000. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2000, 11 a.m., at Hargett Memorial Chapel, Greensboro.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Mrs. Martha Plummer; a sister, Ms. Emma Ruth Plummer of Oxon Hill, Md.; a sister-in-law, Bernice Durham of Henderson, N.C.; and a brother-in-law, Sylvester Durham of Manson, N.C.

MACON -- Alice Rebecca Duncan Riggan, 90, formerly of Macon, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at Warren Hills Nursing Center.

Lessie J. Riley
OXFORD -- Lessie Johnson Riley, 99, of 3775 Belltown Road, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at her home. She was a Granville County native and the daughter of the late Cannon and Della Thomasson Johnson. She was the widow of Johnny Veston Riley.
She was a member of Tally Ho First Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tally Ho First Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Oliver. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters, Bertha R. West, Dorothy R. Suitt, and Linda R. Morris, all of Oxford; three sons, Clarence W. Riley and Ray M. Riley, both of Stem, and Roy E. Riley of Oxford; a sister, Lador J. Langley of Mebane; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the home.

Harold T. Short
HENDERSON -- Harold Taylor Short, age 61, a resident of 105 Park Avenue in Creedmoor, and a former resident of Rt. 2, Warrenton in the Afton Community, died Tuesday night at the Park Avenue Group Home. He was a native of Vance Co. and was the son of the late John B. and Madolia Abbott Short. He was a retired tobacco farmer and a former employee of Inco and the Creedmoor Candle Shop, and was a member of Brown’s Baptist Church in Warren County.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel
By the Rev. Buddy Johnson. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery.
He is survived by three sisters, Helen S. Cartaker of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Clara Barker of
Henderson and Alma S. Short of Warrenton; two brothers, Williard P. Short of Warrenton,
and Luther Short of Reidsville.
The family will received friends Thursday night from 7 until 8:30 P. M. at the J. M. White
Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Alma Short, Rt. 2, Box 92,
Warrenton in the Afton Community.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Dwight Short, Wayne Short, Ronald Neal, Charlie
Barker, Thurston Barker, Walter Neal, and Wesley Harris.

Dazelle S. Williams
HENDERSON -- Dazelle Stokes Williams, 88, of 309 Arch St., died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Maria Parham Hospital. She was a Franklin County native and the daughter of the late Major and Rosetta Wardrick Stokes.
She was the widow of Sandy Williams.
She was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church where the funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by the Revs. J.T. Dunston and Carl Wardrick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are five children, Lucille Williams of Henderson, Lenora Aldridge and Wilbert Williams of Paterson, N.J., Isabelle Holmon of Hackensack, N.J., and Bobby Williams of Raleigh; and numerous grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Pallbearers will be nephews and friends of the family. Floralbearers will be nieces and friends of the family.

James M. Cade
OXFORD -- James M. “Tennessee” Cade, 74, of 705 Gun Club Road, Henderson, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at his home.
He was a native of Johnson County, Tenn., and the son of the late Matt and Isabelle Tate Cade.
He was a retired heavy-duty operator.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty Cade of Henderson; a son, Louis Cade of South Boston, Va.; two stepsons, Roger Wilson of Aitkin, Minn., and Leon Wilson of Oxford; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the home of Betty Cade, 705 Gun Club Road, Henderson.

HENDERSON -- Mary Ann Davis of the Wise community died Monday, Jan. 21, 2001, at her home.

Charlene H. Henderson
MANSON -- Charlene Hunt Henderson, 32, of Manson died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson after a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burchette Chapel United Church of Christ in Manson by the Rev. Charlie Leath, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Terrance Henderson; her mother, Mattie Louise Hunt of Mecklenburg County, Va.; her father, Robert Lee Talley of Mecklenburg County; and her paternal grandmother, Fannie Mae Talley of Soul City.
The body will be on view today at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton until being taken to the church one hour before the services.

OXFORD -- Ruth Hester, 66, of 140 Webb Place died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Duke University Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at St. Peters United Methodist Church by the Rev. Donnie Jones.
Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park.
Surviving are one daughter, Lilo Hester of Olney, Md.; a sister, Dr. Theresa Johnson of Pfafftown; and one grandchild.
The family received visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wright Funeral Home.
At other times they will be at the home of Panthea Lyon, 414 Lanier St.

WARRENTON -- Beatrice Jones, 84, of Camden, N.J., formerly of Warrenton, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Camden.

WARRENTON -- James Ervin “Long-Boy” Montague, 61, of Palmer Springs, Va., died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at his residence.

William E. Rogers
CREEDMOOR -- William E. “Ed” Rogers, 81, of 202-W Dogwood Drive died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at his home. He was a Franklin County native and the son of the late James Henry and Mary F. Ellington Rogers.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the European theater with the 9th Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion for more than 50 years, a member of the Lions Club and chief of the Creedmoor Volunteer Fire Department, with more than 35 years of service. He was owner of W.E. Rogers Plumbing Co.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Don Brown. Burial will be in Creedmoor cemetery.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Sheila Boon Rogers; a daughter, Doreen Lee of Creedmoor; a sister, Anne Laura Braxton of Creedmoor; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. today before the funeral.

Samuel Talley Sr.
HENDERSON -- Samuel Talley Sr., 56, of 59 Deer Chase Lane died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at his residence.
He was a former employee of Louisiana Pacific Timber Co.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Wright Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Wesley Crews. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Josephine Powell Talley; three daughters, Cassandra Mobley of Creedmoor, Pamela Edgerton of Greensboro and Theresa Powell of Henderson; two sons, Samuel Talley Jr. and Jamaine Powell, both of Henderson; his mother, Roseanna Talley of Henderson; one sister, Brenda Girard of Canada; three brothers, Simon Talley, John Talley and Harrison Talley, all of Henderson; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors tonight at Wright Funeral Home in Henderson.

Otis Allen Jr.
OXFORD -- Otis Allen Jr., 47, of Old Route 75 died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Granville Medical Center.
He was a Granville County native and an employee of Burlington Industries.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Olive Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Mack Timberlake Sr. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens in Vance County.
Surviving are his mother, Inez Howard Allen of the home; three sisters, Doris A. Carpenter of Durham, Shirley Glenn of Clarksville, Va., and Esther Rose of Oxford; and one brother, Ronnie Allen of Durham.
The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home of Oxford.

WARREN COUNTY -- Melroy Alston, 44, of Warren County died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001.

Elsie F. Ayscue
HENDERSON -- Elsie Faulkner Ayscue, 78, of 5929 Vicksboro Road died Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital. She was a native of Vance County, the daughter of the late Gilbert V. Faulkner and Mamie Ayscue Faulkner Tharrington and the widow of Roger C. Ayscue.
She was a homemaker and member of the Shocco United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shocco United Methodist Church by the Rev. Chris Noble and the Rev. Alan Follett. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Nancy A. Stainback of Henderson, Linda A. Leonard of Castalia, Betty A. Williams of Franklinton and Teresa A. Stainback of Vicksboro; four sisters, Helen F. Stevenson, Nellie F. Hedgepeth and Paige F. Vaughan, all of Henderson, and Dorothy F. Ayscue of Louisburg; one brother, Melvin T. Faulkner of Mebane; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at her home on Vicksboro Road.
Serving as active pallbearers will be J.R. Stainback, Ricky Owens, Danny Wilkerson, Bobby Fleming, Hilman Floyd, Ricky Abbott, Kenneth Pendergrass and Danny Stevenson.

Mary Anne E. Fleming
HENDERSON -- Mary Anne Edwards Fleming, 65, of 1845 S. Cokesbury Road, Henderson, in the Cokesbury community, died Sunday, December 30, 2001. at her home.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of Sadie West Edwards of Henderson and the late Harvey W. Edwards.
Mrs. Fleming was a retired branch manager with Centura Bank. She was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 2 p.m., at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael E. Rocheleau. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, George H. Fleming; a son, M. Dale Fleming; and two grandchildren, Nicole Marie Fleming and Eric Christopher Fleming, all of Cokesbury.
The family will receive friends tonight, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Lee Short, Carl Ray Hobgood, Randy Hoyle, Thomas Shaw, Ricky Gill, Jimmy Jeffries, J.T. Edwards and Fred Gill.
