OXFORD -- Ernest Nile Clark, 56, of 9067 Robert Morgan Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at McGuire Veteran’s Hospital in Richmond.
He was a member of New Grassy Creek Baptist Church and a decorated veteran.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wright Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in New Grassy Creek Baptist Church cemetery with military honors.
Surviving are his wife, Callie C. Clark; one daughter, Sherron Denise Marable of Bullock; a mother, Ruth Adell Clark of Bullock; two sisters, Alice Faye Davis of Marietta, Ga., and Alma Frances Wright of Bullock; one brother, Joe Louis Clark of Bullock; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Home.
Clarence Martin
WARRENTON -- Clarence Martin, 73, of Rt. 3, Warrenton, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton by the Rev. Luther Alston. Burial will follow in the Fork Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.
Surviving are his mother, Flossine Martin of Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, Steven Richardson and Kenneth White, both of New York City; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters; and two brothers.
The body was on view Wednesday at Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton.

Lula D. Moore
HENDERSON -- Lula D. Moore, 73, formerly of Granville County, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Ira Samuel and Charlotte Lee Gentry Day and the widow of James C. Moore.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Oxford Church of God by the Rev. Milton Abbott. Burial will follow in Mt. Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
Surviving are her daughters, Dianne M. Parks and Roxianne M. Parks, both of Gillburg; her son, James T. Moore of Henderson; her sisters, Carrie Jane Moore and Becky Vaughan, both of Oxford; her brother, Billy Day of Butner; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Oxford Church of God, 40 Church St., Oxford, N.C. 27565.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home and other times at the home of Roxianne and Reynold Parks, 604 Gillburg Road in Henderson.
Active pallbearers will be Bobby Lee Moore, Gregory Thomas Moore, Monroe Clarence Moore, Brandon Wayne Parks, Sammy Moore and David Clark.

BENSON -- Mary Belle Mason Reaves, 75, of Benson, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at Britthaven of Dunn. She was a Harnett County native and the daughter of the late Arthur and Mazzie Jarman Mason. She was the widow of Charlie Reaves.
She was a member of Fair Haven Church of God and was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Fair Haven Church of God in Benson by the Rev. David Brooks. Burial will follow in Roselawn cemetery.
Surviving are her daughter, Joyce R. Tew of Benson; sisters, Grace M. Evans of Louisburg, Mae M. Guin of Linden, Jerline M. Adams of Four Oaks and Jeanette M. Tart of Henderson; brothers, Pervis “Fuzzy” Mason of Linden and Garner Mason of Spring Lake; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was employed for many years at J.P. Taylor Tobacco and retired from Burkart.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Mary Davis-Royster Funeral Service by the Rev. James A. Johnson. Burial will follow in the Concord Baptist Church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Bert C. Williams of the home; six daughters, Bertha M. Williams, Sharon Williams, both of the home, Malissa Nowell, Alice Williams, both of Manhattan, N.Y., Mary Smith of Oxford, and Johnnie W. Burton of Henderson; one sister, Mary L. Johnson of Franklinton; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

HENDERSON -- Mary Magdalene Pettiford Wilkerson, 70, of 217 Truman Ave., died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital.

Virginia C. Cameron
WARRENTON -- Virginia Champion Cameron, 82, of Warrenton, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at her residence. She was a Franklin County native and the daughter of the late Ned Champion and Mattie Champion Munn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Alex Cameron and their son, William Cameron.
She was a member of the North Warrenton Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Roy Cameron of Henderson, John Cameron of Warrenton, Rex Cameron of Kittrell and Allen “Alpine” Cameron of Warrenton; two daughters, Mary Dunn of Boydton, Va., and Edith Paschall of Richmond, Va.; one sister, Ruth Perry of Raleigh; one brother, Bruce Champion of Louisburg; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blaylock Funeral Home by the Revs. Brian Huffman and Fred Powell. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery.

Michael A. Grissom
MACON -- Michael Anthony Grissom, 30, of Macon, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a Vance County native and the son of Jimmy Grissom and the late Ann Gail Clark Grissom.
He was a carpenter that worked for Cash Construction Company.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel.
In addition to his father, he is survived by one stepsister, Niki Langley.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Blaylock Funeral Home with funeral service to follow.

William J. Hicks
NORLINA -- William “Bill” Jackson Hicks, 72, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at Duke Medical Center. He was a Vance County native and the son of the late William Virgil and Hallie Jackson Hicks.
He was a farmer and a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Anne B. Hicks; one son, William Jackson Hicks Jr.; one daughter, Teresa Hicks Wimbrow of Henderson; one stepdaughter, Cindy R. Bowen of Oxford; one sister, Camille Hicks Powell; eight grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Zion U.M.C. by the Rev. Warren Cash. Burial will follow in the Zion Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the home.

Lizzie A. Kersey
BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Lizzie Anne Kersey, 88, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a native of Mecklenburg County, Va., and the daughter of the late James Eddie and Emma Henderson Kersey.
She was raised in Warren County and joined the Burchett Chapel United Church of Christ. In her later years, she moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., and joined Friendship Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Burchett Chapel United Church of Christ by the Rev. Emmitt Jefferson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving is one sister, Mamie Kersey Bullock of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The family will receive friends at 1004 South Street.

William C. Lowery Sr.
WINSTON-SALEM -- William Curtis Lowery Sr., 45, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2001, at his residence. He was the brother of the Rev. Ronald L. Lowery Sr. of Henderson.
Arrangements will be announced later by Gilmore Funeral Home of Winston-Salem.
Juanita C. O’Neal
CARY -- Juanita Crabtree O’Neal, age 84, a resident of 526 Applecross Dr., and a former resident of 607 Chestnut St., Henderson died Monday morning at her residence.
She was a native of Vance County and was the daughter of the late James Isaac and Ethel Amos Crabtree. She was a homemaker and widow of Albert Bart O’Neal, Sr. She was a former member of the Presbyterian Church in Henderson. In 1934 she was crowned the first “Miss Henderson.”
A memorial service will be held Thursday at noon at the First United Methodist Church of Cary by Dr. Thomas R. Steagald.
The family will receive friends Thursday at the First United Methodist Church of Cary from 11 a.m. until noon. At other times they will be at the home of Bart O’Neal at 1021 Warren Avenue, Cary, N.C.
She is survived by two daughters, Regena O’Neal of Cary and Jo O. Steagald of Marshville, N.C.; one son, Albert Bart O’Neal, Jr. of Cary; four grandchildren; and one great grand-child.

Hugh A. Ramsey
COLUMBIA -- Hugh Arnold Ramsey, 70, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001. He was a native of Cliffside and the son of the late Roy C. Ramsey and the late Fannie McGinnis Ramsey.
He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietname War, having served in the 82nd Air Borne Division, 187th Rakasan, 1st Calvary Division, and Northern Warfare Training Center. He was a member of the Ft. Jackson Golf Club and an avid marathon runner. He was a Protestant.
Funeral services with military honors will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will immediately follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Harris Ramsey of the home; sons, Lanny Ramsey of Greenville, S.C., and Dale Ramsey of Anaheim, Calif.; daughters, Cheryl R. Wall of Ft. Mill, S.C., and Joanie R. Herring of Mullins, S.C.; brothers, C. Dewitt Ramsey of Irmo, S.C., and Charles R. Ramsey of Mooresboro; sisters, Gertrude R. Harrill of Chesnee, S.C., and Macie R. Houser of Mooresboro; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Earl L. Schneider
HENDERSON -- Earl Lee Schneider, 72, of 271 Carver School Road, Henderson, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at his home. He was a Milwaukee County, Wisc., native and the son of the late John and Eleanora Goll Schneider.
He was a retired electrical and hydraulic engineer with Universal Leaf Tobacco Company in Richmond, Va. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and AmVets.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Flowers Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Ann Ritter.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Woody Schneider; four daughters, Pamela S. Gibbs of Tampa, Fla., Robin S. Hutchinson of Fort Worth, Texas, Maria Morris of Greenville, and Chris S. Wortham of Henderson; three sisters, Beverly S. Keliin of Iron Mountain, Mich., Sally S. Gorsege of Glenbeulah, Wisc., and Sandra Schneider of Plymouth, Wisc.; five brothers, Walter Schneider and Felix Schneider, both of Sheboygan, Wisc., Ernie Schneider of Charleston, S.C., Butch Schneider of Glenbeulah, Wisc., and Ernie Schneider of Charleston, S.C., Butch Schneider of Glenbeulah, Wisc., and Richard Schneider of Brighton, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

RALEIGH -- Stephen G. Sealy, 58, of 6605 West Lake Drive, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at Granville Medical Center in Oxford.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Smith Family cemetery on the Mack Brummitt Road, by the Rev. Norman McDowell.
Surviving are his wife, Lea Mann Sealy of the home; one daughter, Havalan S. Carpenter of Portland, Ore.; one son, Greg Sealy of Raleigh; parents, Fred Sealy and Patricia Patterson Sealy of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, Warren Sealy and Cliff Sealy, both of Atlanta, Ga., Phil Sealy of Orlando, Fla.; and one grandchild.
Visitation for the family will be conducted 30 minutes before the services at the gravesite.

Julia E. Townes
HENDERSON -- Julia Evans Townes, 73, of 1410 Alpha St., died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at her residence. She was a native of Martin County.
She was a graduate of North Carolina University. She began her career as a dietitian at Lincoln Hospital in Durham. She later taught home economics in Halifax and Pamlico counties. She ended her teaching career in the Warren County School System after 21 years of service. She retired in 1990.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Wright Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Kenneth Martin. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are her husband, Joel “Bing” Townes; one son, Duane Alan Townes of Henderson; one daughter, Lana Janine Townes-Dubose of Oxford; one sister, Quentile Bowser of Williamston; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home of Henderson.

Denny C. Williamson
HENDERSON -- Denny Carroll Williamson, age 59, a resident of 110 Wesley Drive, died Sunday at Maria Parham Hospital.
He was a native of Vance County and was the son of the late Willie Dorsey and Mamie Hughes Williamson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietname War, and received the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a member of the Gospel Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Gospel Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Greene, Jr. and the Rev. Grady Lane. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kaye Williams Williamson, of the home; one daughter, Shannon Nichole W. Olgesby, of New Bern; three sons, Dannon Chauwn Williamson, Justen Bradley Williamson, and D.C. Williamson, all of Henderson; one sister, Brenda Tant, of Henderson; his stepmother, Datie Williamson, of Henderson; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Donnie Hogge, Joe Tharrington, P. G. Vaughan, Jerry Matthews, Wayne Ellington, Bud Williams, Johnny Williams, and Calvin Davis.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all men of the Gospel Baptist Church.
