Robin Reneé Rowland

OXFORD -- Robin Renee' Rowland, age 41 a resident of 557 Robert Rowland Road in the Hicksboro community died Saturday at Maria Parham Hospital.
She was a native of Palm Beach County, Fla., and was the daughter of Marie Proctor Rowland and the late Robert Marshall Rowland. She was a very loving and caring person, who was dedicated to all of her friends and students.
She was a teacher in cosmetology at the Vance-Granville Community College main campus and at the South Granville campus in Creedmoor, N.C. She was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College (Barton College) and was a graduate of Vance- Granville Community College.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Yount. Entombment will follow in the Eternity Mausoleum in Oakhurst cemetery in Clarksville, Va.
Surviving in addition to her mother is her stepgrandmother, Ruby Hudson Moss of Townsville, and her beloved aunts and uncles, Betty Bennett, Billy Proctor, Carolyn Barbour, Frances Sarakby, Betty Morris, Larry Rowland ,M. B. Rowland and all her special friends.
The family received friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Robin Renee' Rowland Scholarship Fund for Cosmetology, Vance-Granville Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 917, Henderson, N. C. 27536.
Arrangements are by the J.M. White Funeral Home.

Warren L. Williams

RICHMOND, VA. -- Warren L. Williams, 67, of Richmond, passed away March 26, 2001, at his residence.
He retired from the State Corporation Commission in 1989.
Warren is survived by his wife, Iris A. Williams; two sisters, Anne W. Slayden and Beverly W. Holmes; and a guardian angel, Terry L. Adams.
His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, and where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with entombment in Forest Lawn Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to the City Road United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1212, Henderson, N.C. 27536.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, at City Road United Methodist Church.

Minnie Brame

KITTRELL -- Minnie Brame, 66, of the Kittrell community died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at NextCare Specialty Hospital in Rocky Mount.
Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home of Henderson.

Elizabeth J. Hudgins

MACON -- Elizabeth Jordan Hudgins, 74, of the Embro community, Macon, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at her residence. She was a Warren County native and the daughter of the late Tasker and Orhora Jordan. She was reared by the late Bertie Plummer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Episcopal Church in Warrenton. The Rev. Marvin B. Aycock Jr., vicar, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Greater Lovely Hill Baptist Church in Macon.
She was confirmed and joined the All Saints Episcopal Church at an early age. She was the senior warden of the congregation.
She was a graduate of John R. Hawkins High School and received a bachelor’s degree of education from St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh.
First serving as a substitute teacher and then as a school secretary, she retired with more than 30 years of service with the Warren County school system.
She was active in several organizations in the community, the Town N’ County Garden Club, the Warren County Group Home Board, the Area Mental Health Board and the North Carolina Retired Educators Association.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas A. Hudgins; one daughter, Penny Canada of Greensboro; two sons, Gaynell Hudgins of Greensboro and Arthur Hudgins of Macon; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Vera J. Wilson of Washington, D.C., and Verneta J. Wilson of Henderson.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.
Arrangements are by Boyd’s Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Milton S. Kearney

CREEDMOOR -- Milton Sidney Kearney, 72, of 3677 Old Franklinton Road, Franklinton, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at Granville Medical Center. He was a Granville County native and the son of the late Kit and Alma Wright Kearney.
He was of the Christian faith, a Korean War Army veteran and a retired farmer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Ray Gooch. Burial will be in Pope’s Chapel Christian Church cemetery.
Surviving are a sister, Ola Mae Carter, and a brother, Hal H. Kearney, both of Franklinton.
Visitation was held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at 3677 Old Franklinton Road, Franklinton.
Arrangements are by Eakes Funeral Home.

Timothy E. Reid

HENDERSON -- Timothy E. Reid, 29, of Henderson, died Thursday, March 22, 2001.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Burchette Chapel United Church of Christ in Manson. The Rev. Charlie Leith, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his mother, Annie T. Reid of Manson; a twin brother, Thomas E. Reid Jr.; one son, Nija A. Reid; his fiance, Kenyatta Talley; his maternal grandmother, Novella Terry; and his paternal grandmother, Anna Reid.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Minnie Y. Brame

KITTRELL -- Minnie Yarborough Brame, 86, of 1700 Raleigh Road died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at NextCare Specialty Hospital in Rocky Mount.
She was a Vance County native and the daughter of the late Raleigh and Viola Alston Yarborough.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Spotwood Burwell. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, James Brame; one daughter, Vera Davis of Franklinton; one son, Donald Kennedy of Kittrell; two brothers, Walter Yarborough of Washington, D.C., and James Yarborough of Chesterfield, S.C.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home in Warrenton.
Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Willie L. Glover

OXFORD -- Willie Lee Glover, 88, of the Oxford Manor Nursing Facility died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at the facility.
Arrangements will be announced by Garnes Funeral Services.

Martha L.J. Hargrove

HENDERSON -- Martha Lee Jefferson Hargrove, 70, of 824 N. Pinkston St. died Monday, March 26, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital. She was a Vance County native and the daughter of the late Johnny and Blanche Marrow Jefferson.
She was retired from Russell Stover Candy Co.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion United Church of Christ by the Rev. John Hargrove. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are one son, Carnell Jefferson of the home; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Samuel Jefferson of Townsville and Denoral Jefferson of the Williamsboro community.
The body will be on view at the funeral home until taken to the church one hour before the service.
Arrangements are by Mary Davis-Royster Funeral Services of Henderson.

Iva B. Johnson

OXFORD -- Iva Benjamin “Ben” Johnson, 76, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, in Harrisburg, Pa. He was a Granville County native.
He was educated in the Oxford public schools.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Johnson; two sons, Vance and Ben Jr.; four daughters, Bettie Mae Johnson, Renee, Iva and Shelmar; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at Second Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Pa., officiated by the Rev. A.J. Briley Sr. Burial was in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg.
Local announcement is by Betts & Son Funeral Home.

Joe Traylor

WARRENTON -- Joe Traylor, 77, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at Community Memorial Health Center in Virginia.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Palmer Springs, Va. Minister Henry Brunson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are one brother, Elisa Traylor of Mobile, Ala., and two sisters, Chassie McDonald of Gilbertown, Ala., and Ruth Kelly of Mobile, Ala.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Minnie Y. Brame

She was a retired teacher in Warren County, where she worked for more than 31 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Spotwood Burwell. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.

Janie H. Duncan

STEM -- Janie Hicks Duncan, 66, of 3134 Old Route 75 died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Durham Regional Hospital. She was a Nash County native and the daughter of the late John and Lula Murray Hicks.
She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and retired after 30 years of service from Murdoch Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Jim Shelley. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her husband, Elbert H. Duncan; two sons, Garry S. Duncan of Milton, Fla., and Kenneth J. Duncan of Dayton, Ohio; three brothers, Robie Hicks of Durham, John Hicks of Middlesex and Jerry Hicks of Germantown, Md.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Eakes Funeral Home.

Beulah C. Fitts

HENDERSON -- Beulah Chrisp Fitts, 86, a native of Henderson, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. She was a Warren County native and the daughter of the late Charlie and Adell Wilkerson Chrisp.
She worked many years at J.P. Tobacco Co. before retirement.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Welcome Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Saint Silvers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are one son, Johnny Fitts of Butner; one sister, Lena Chrisp Ellis of Bullock; and one brother, George Hunter of Chester, S.C.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Sandra Darensbury, 831 E. Andrews Ave.
The body will be on view from noon to 7 p.m. today.

Willie L. Glover

OXFORD -- Willie Lee Glover, 88, of 563 Mcborn St. died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at the Oxford Manor in Oxford. She was the widow of Erma L. Glover. She was a Vance County native and the daughter of the late Eddie and Ida Overby Hester.
She received her education in the Vance County public schools. She was a member of Mount Moriah A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served on the Missionary Circle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mount Moriah A.M.E. Zion Church by the Rev. Melvin Ballard. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are five daughters, Ida Howard of White Plains, N.Y., Juanita Toole of Yonkers, N.Y., Helen Nevius of Henderson, Barbara Royster of Oxford and Irene Turner of Henderson; a sister, Elnora Harris of Henderson; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight in Garnes Funeral Chapel and at other times at the home of Barbara Royster, 3739 Salem Road in Oxford.

Mae S. Harris

VAUGHAN -- Mae Shearin Harris, 96, of Vaughan died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Lula H. and William Henry Shearin of Littleton and the widow of Tollie R. Harris.
She was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John R. Richardson. Burial will follow in the Vaughan cemetery.
Surviving are six daughters, Lucille H. McClanahan of North Springfield, Va., Edith H. Harris of Littleton, Bertie Stegall of Warren Plains, Ruby H. Carroll of Macon, Myrtice H. Bolton of North Springfield and Virgie Roberts of Macon; one son, Tollie R. Harris of Macon; one sister, Ruth Riggan of Roanoke Rapids; one brother, Paul Shearin of Littleton; 20 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Blaylock Funeral Home of Warrenton.

WISE -- William “Pete” King, 71, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at his residence.

Harlese Magruder

NORLINA -- Harlese Magruder, 70, of Norlina died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall in Warrenton.
Surviving are his wife, Weedamell Magruder; two sons, Curtis and Stephan Magruder; six daughters, Juanita Sweeting, Sondra Cornejo-Aries, Huntanetta Gibson, Ebony Magruder, Melanie Magruder and Harlese Magruder.
Arrangements are by R.H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton.

Thomas E. ‘Gene’ Nance

OXFORD -- Thomas Eugene “Gene” Nance, 65, of 3133 White Oak Drive died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Veterans Hospital in Durham after a long bout with cancer. He was a Granville County native and the son of the late Pender and Sallie Ann May Nance.
He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by pastor Milton Abbott. Burial will be in Hester Baptist Church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Grace Spence Nance; two daughters, Sharry Nance of Ellerbe and Kathy Nance of Staunton, Va.; a son, Tim Nance of Raeford; a stepson, Cecil Broome of Miami; a sister, Jenny Nance of Oxford; two brothers, Charles Nance of Oxford and Tim Nance of Staunton; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and other times at the home.
Arrangements are by Eakes Funeral Home.
